Yup. Mine goes straight to the animated Droid blue eye.
so is this good, bad, or does it provide any open doors for future hacks?
I would assume that any increase in boot time would be a good thing haha.

I noticed the same thing. I never put 2 and 2 together I was planing on a sbf flash so I wanted to try the 2nd init install before I did. Weird
is that a good thing?
I think it is skipping the bootloader and kernel on reboot and just rebooting the system partition. If I understand it, that's how we would load a custom rom.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Please read what 2nd-init is before just haphazardly installing it. There isn't anything out right now that currently uses it on the Atrix, so unless you're developing you shouldn't really bother with installing it.

Unless they want to boot faster...
I have pulled and edit the framework.res to include the CRT animation on the E3D. I have gotten it onto the phone. There is one problem we have run into... The phone needs to reboot. Doing a fastboot does not qualify as a "reboot" apparently. I haven't actually tried a reboot because I don't think the changes to the framework.res will stay intact. I even tried using fast reboot from the market and it doesn't help any either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Basically, we just need framework.res to refresh without rebooting. I know, easier said than done.
The animations are already there inside framework-res.apk. You just need to make some smali changes inside services.jar to basically turn on the animations.

Try.killall zygote command. It restarts framework
I always wonder why it didn't have it. I thought it was a 2.3 thing but only phones I seen it was old epic and nexus s cant wait to see ur work

CRT Animation is not included framework-res.apk
It's effect include services.jar(/system/framework/)
To enable the CRT animation you only have to pull, edit and push the framework-res.apk to the phone and then get it to refresh or reload without rebooting. Rebooting wouldn't be a problem if we had actual root but that is the problem I am running into. I have not tried zygote killer. I will try that when I get home tonight.
I have tried fastboot from the phone, fast boot from the market and hot reboot from the market. Do not use hot reboot. Does not work. Screen stays black after rebooting.

All the tutorials online that show how to do it and all the devices that already have it done say that it has to do with framework-res.apk. I had the CRT animation on my atrix.

Why was this.moved to General? I mean..its clearly dealing with a WIP modification. If it doesn't belong in Development then I would think Apostle and themes.
Not general though. Just my thought. Seeks out of place here.

Sorry, not at all. framework-res.apk/res/anim that is not perfect.
Most hTC SENSE ROM! to the services.jar represents CRT animation.
hTC is not Motorola

You are correct that htc is not motorola but crt has zero to do with sense. It is an android animation.

I have added CRT to quite a few things when I was porting DHD, Desire Z & Desire S ROMs to the OG Evo. The animation files are already included in the framework-res.apk but they have to be "switched on" in the services.jar

It was moved because the OP isn't including anything in the form of Work which is the 'W' in WIP. I have an untested services.jar, if you really want to test.

I love to see this bc like I said I thought this was a stock feature for gingerbread but I won't lie I was just in leak stages when I had the epic and it had it. Just shocked me not to see it on the 3d supposedly being one on the top phones on market today us carrier wise so hmm. I would like to help if I can but I haven't messed with temp root bc I reset my phone sometimes in the day it it might die so on but let me know

Since we now have root for the Evo 3d, has anyone figured out an easy way to add/enable this animation?
Yh i was wondering that too, and wether or not virtuous will be pushing it into there next e3d ROM release
Overview:
This is basically a ROM I made when I was bored.
It is based off of Pepperm1nt's [ROM][GB 2.3.4]GingerBread Phone 7 v0.4
I replaced some of the apps with MIUI apps such as
MIUI launcher
MIUI Music
MIUI Browser
I am not sure this ROM will work or flash so flash at your own risk
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone. Use at your own discretion
How to install
Must be on 2.3.4 NOT 2.3.5
Install bootstrap
Reboot into bootstrap recovery
Wipe data/cache
Flash this ROM

Im sorry but ill be the first one to chime in. You're putting up a ROM you didn't test yourself?

Well judging by how he has written the description, it should flash, if all he did was replace apks from miui to this rom. However a test would help peoples feelings lol

This should work almost flawless. I've played with all three apps he added on Molten and they worked well. Should not be an issue. Just wondering but did you ask Pepperm1nt if it was ok to use his rom? No big deal if you did Something to play with, thanks.

Am I the only one who was disappointed to realize that this is not an AOSP ROM?
I mean the title is misleading. I thought that this is the first fruition of 2nd init to make AOSP roms.
That's because gbp7 is not aosp based.....

was it just me or did it not let anyone else past the 'account' page? it wouldnt take me to my home to where i could set up my recovery so i had to sbf, so nice try OP, but i recommend you take this and base it off your own rom and get to familiar with the android system so you can take this and and make it your own

This is only GBphone rom + the MIUI launcher look alike and locker + other look alikes.
Sounds a little weird. No pics of screenshots or even tested? Based off someone elses rom without even asking first. Althoug he did give proper credit and did not try to act like it was his own. I appreciate all development for this phone but have to admit this is a first for me to see The OP even states not sure if this will work lol. Does not give you that warm fuzzy feeling and anxious to flash something new.

I dont mind doing a sbf. Did plenty when I was getting to eclipse 2.02 when I had root keeper on my phone I do not mean to bash anyone it is just weird the OP says he is not sure if it will work. Also the title I thought was a little misleading thought this was a MIUI rom.
Seems odd to complain about someone cooking up a new option for a phone with so little support. Regardless of the nature of that option, or what you experienced on another phones dev thread.
Thanks Jay, though I wont be using your work its nice to see people working with the x2. And incorporating miui apps / miui lookalike apps is a neat idea for miui fans who can't flash it due to a pesky locked bootloader.
And, I know none of you fine folks intended to come off as ungrateful or complainy (its my word don't steal it ). Its easy for things to be misinterpreted, between thinking about what you want to post, posting, and someone else reading your post with none of the vocal expression you had in mind.

First off this is a development idea for right now.
The idea is instead of trying to chang dpi and a bunch of other settings that cause problems, we simply enable webtop 3.0 on our phone screen itself rather than mirror it to a display. Doing so would give a working tablet ui and would also get rid of all of the problems that other methods have.

Get ready to get *****ed at for starting another thread about the same thing. lol
Its a cool idea though. Do you think our phones can handle the ui? Are you thinking something more like a theme or a skin or a complete new user interface?

I'm curious to why you want this? You would need to fool the device into thinking the phone has a much higher resolution meaning that everything on screen will be tiny (I think).

In webtop you can choose a resolution, so all you have to do is go into settings and turn the resolution down.

I've watched overzealous moderation destroy good forums long before there was even a world wide web. I'm not saying that is happening here, but...
If you tried say to create a nandroid of your Web top then flash it to your safe system in safestrap then boot into it and ran into problems you could justifiably ask for help on the dev forums, or just ask where you could find the Web top applications on your phone. It could be as simple as installing the Web top launcher over the stock and using something like home smack to switch between the two. If you took any small step in trying to achieve the goal then asked for help it would be undeniably dev forum material. It's probably more complicated than just booting into it or using the launcher but if you take a lead ill help.

That tricks the phone into thinking it has a lower dpi which makes applications behave weird and force close, what im working on is getting the phone to run webtop 3.0 as the main os/launcher so that you have a fully compatible tablet ui on your phone.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Wouldn't we be better off porting ParanoidAndroid over? since it's based of cm9 and we have cm9 almost stable on the Razr, it would be much easier than forcing tablet launcher.
Also what exactly is the benefit of webtop as to me it only seems usable in a large screen size. I think usability would be considerably more cumbersome.
Sent from my Nexus 7
I don't think it'll be to difficult to accomplish seeing as webtop is launched almost as an application when HDMI is connected since they implemented 3.0
The reason I'm not holding my breath on a parandroid port is because development seems to be slowing down for our phone and i hate to rely on other people
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
I've also seen webtop displayed on the razr screen briefly when unplugging from my atrix lapdock. I think it would be interesting to flip the bit somehow to make it stay persistently just to play around with and see what it's like!
Well as we all came to experience the amazing circular screen off animation introduced to us by LG, it is actually removed in the PORTED Stock Jelly Bean release, which is currently working smoothly on AT&T LGs (given the fixes), however, I really do miss this little feature. So I am asking if anyone knows how to locate and change the screen of animation preferably using es file explorer, if possible?
I have read a couple of articles saying that you can add the CRT screen off animation to an apk called framework-res.apk which is found in the /system/framework folder but I really don't want to tamper with that just yet till I find out if that is the for sure file to change on our phones.
If maybe we can find the screen off animation file in the stock ICS rom, we could possibly add it into the JB rom and fix permissions and bam! We would have the awesome LG screen animation! If only it could be so simple!
So if anyone knows anything about this, please let me know because I don't even know if I'm on the right track!
Thanks guys.
i for one, would like to swap out my LG off animation for the CRT one, didnt see any way to change it in the forum
..not to derail your thread or anything.

Drewman294,
You are indeed on the right track... it is in the framework.res.apk. Got a lot on my plate at the moment but as soon as I can I will give this a shot.
It would indeed be too risky to copy the apk from stock rom and try it on JB rom, it will take a decompile, edit and recompile.
