[PHOTO] Seriously AMAZING battery life on Mini Pro - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi everybody.
Look at my attached pic, seriously what other smartphone out there can give you battery life like that??? I know it's been on standby the whole time but I am impressed enough to take a pic and post about it here - and I did use it 2 days back to take lots of photos in the snow so don't know what that didn't come up on the battery usage screen.
Here's the settings:
3G off
Wifi off
Google sync off
Silent
There's no apps installed running on it currently.
Since getting an Xperia Mini Pro I have also got the HTC Desire Z and iPhone 4. But still I keep getting impressed by the Mini Pro and am very tempted to sell my HTC-Z and stick use the XMP instead as primary personal phone. (iPhone4 is from work).
Things I like about the Mini Pro:
LOUD loudspeaker
Best physical keyboard
Tiny small and strong build
FAST
Reliable
Any way hope this post was in some way helpful

standby ... wow.
in comparison to 3 hours of maximum usage ...
sorry but the threadtitle made me angry.

Yeah to be honest if you use it as intended your going to get roughly about a days worth of use if your lucky!

You could keep it turned off, in a box in he cupboard, and the battery would last for weeks!

woot you serious ? I got like 7 days when idle

[Q] iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy SII

Hello all,
I'm currently a Samsung galaxy s2 user, just switched from using the iphone 4 because of all the rumors about the galaxy s2. And till now im impressed by everything it has to offer except its battery life.
I love my galaxy s2, but the only problem is battery life, and thats the main reason im being pulled over to buy the iphone 4s!!..
getting that isnt the problem..
I tried way too many custom ROMS, different kernels etc, but ended up with an average 6-7 hr battery life with heavy usage and that doesnt even involve listening to music while commuting. If i did that as well, im sure my battery wud barely last 5 hrs... which isnt ideal at all, im sure everyone feels the same way... Right now im on stock KI3 firmware, rooted. KI3 is slightly better than what bell gave me as stock - KG2.
now i want some strong points of why i shouldn't move back. I've been an iphone user since the 2g iphone and it was amazing!
Only if i could improve my battery life on galaxy s2 i wouldnt have these temptations to move to iphone again.
Should I move back to the iPhone?
no, galaxy s2 is the best !xD
my battery is very good so i don't care just try some kernels or roms
iPhone 4s is much better than SGS2 IMO.
Better size, better display (imo SAMOLED+'s colours are too cartoony), better resolution, better camera, better audio, much better battery and a much faster processor.
Also, iOS has proper dual core optimizations and actually makes good use of the A5 chip, wheras with SGS2, you'll have to wait for a stable ICS rom comes out.
Despite the negativity of the i4s, I personally think it'll be one of the most underrated phones this year.
But that's just my opinion.
My s2 often gives me 16+ hrs of heavy usage (my phone is from the first batch) my other half got a white s2 a few weeks ago and he has dreadful battery life. Both same firmware ect. Although mine is made in korea both battery and handset. His is made in china. Different colour mainboards too. Mines blue his is green.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Well just to make the point clear, you will never get your sgs 2 to have as much of a battery life as the IP4S. iOS is simply much better at handling battery life than android.
Now it depends on what you want really. Do you value battery life over functionality/choice?
Personally what do you expect of a phone with a dual core 1.2ghz processor? If you expect 12 hrs now that is simply idiocy. You have a laptop that can do that? I don't cuz mine lasts 2 hrs with heavy usage. I haven't read of any laptop being able to last 12 hrs of heavy usage either. No I don't expect a laptop to have a battery life like that either. Now this is a phone with a processor better than most if not all netbooks, it is not going to have a 8hr+ battery life with heavy usage just like a laptop.
I feel your pain with battery life. Also, screen burn in isshowing its face on mine too. But threw iphone is waaaaaay too locked down to make it an easy choice.
Sounds like you dont have things set up correctly to me or your using some resource hogging apps.
Im on wifi all day, send between 40-70 sms a day, couple of phone calls, tweetdeck auto updating, around 20mins of music (well, podcast, but it is an audio file), auto updating of all my apps enabled in the market and the obvious hour or so web browsing and 10mins or so of minecraft when I sneak off for a break in the toilets and I get home with around 30%
Dont forget, your also comparing a closed up OS which has been around for a fair old while to an open one which is still reasonably new which each phone manufacturer has his way with before chucking the phones out
Im not going to fight the android corner as you admitted yourself you are 'looking for reasons to not move back'. Which sounds as though you have already made up your mind.
If you want to go get a shiny fragile phone with a half eaten apple on it by all means do Glad you've at least tried Android though, your light years ahead of 90% of Iphone owners who live around here lol.
must be something thats killing your battery in the background. I quite easily get over a day and between 5-6 hours screen on time. Longest ive had was 6hr 38 mins screen on.
Download better battery stats and see whats running in the background.
Lawl you all are missing a very important statement in his post. "HEAVY USAGE"
What is heavy usage? Web browsing, playing a 3d game, watching a video, recording a video, taking pictures, etc. So of course he is going to get 6-7hrs of battery life.
I agree with the above post. find out whats draining your battery. Shouldn't be that low...unless you are just sitting on your sofa browsing constantly because your so excited about a new phone like i was.
Also you can buy a dock charger and extra batteries set for cheap together (ankhers set) so you never have to plug your phone into a charger again
But it sounds like you have alot of money to burn...then why not...being in a locked system isnt so bad when your willing to just buy every app and media at premium prices and your happy with the interface
Thanks for the quick reply guys, and yes, i m loving my galaxy s2 as i mentioned earlier. And yes, im a heavy user, around 100 texts, playing 3d games (sandstorm, brothers in arms etc). I barely keep wifi on as i haf 6gb of data which is almost unlimited. and im getting 7 hrs, which apparently seems to be good. If thats the case then I have nothing to complain about...
And in terms of money, lol i dont have any... its just i could get an iphone if i sold this one... no way i could afford to keep both!
Stick to the SGS2 and wait for the SGS3 till then.
Hmm, If were I, I would like the iPhone 4S. The iOS 5's new feature iCloud and iMessenge really attracted me.
And can get many apps for it:
http://www.enolsoft.com/blog/best-free-iphone-4s-apps/
SGS2! iPhone4S is inferior in many many ways. It's a ****ty phone.
/ownership bias
u should wait untill the ICS rom is out. that should improve the battery life, because it will be customized to a dual core processor.
Iphone 4S is quite a good phone, but I'm personally against Apple's politics regarding software and price. I don't want Itunes, no format support like FLAC or MKV, no Flash. Also Android has more customization abilities in themes and menues.
I like the big screen and weight on the GS2. Well, the battery life could be better on SGS 2. But there's a Samsung 2000mah battery available at the moment and you can easily replace the battery.
I have been in the same boat in fact I have swapped my Iphone 4 for a SGS2 three times, until finally I realise that the SGS2 really is a SuperPhone.
The reason you will find battery life not quite as good as the Iphone4, is basically down to the fact the Iphone is not actually doing a lot.
I waited until iOs5 before swapping back to this truly, greatest phone since the HD2, iOs5 really is a disappointment to say the least, you get a pull down bar that kinda copies Android to a point, but fails in the fact with its Iphone basic-ness yet again, the weather links to the most basic of weather apps, the notification animations appear at the top all very nicely, but the top bar doesn't state that notifications are listed within, they tried to match the Androids version but in true Iphone style, didn't leave in the design to allow users to feel its their notifications.
One thing you will never get away from even jailbroken is the fact you are not free to choose...you will never own your Iphone, it owns you, Android on the other hand is the opposite and with the SGS2, its power and freedom is far more adaptable than the iphone4.

Xperia mini battery life

Hi all
I've searched and searched not just this site but the web for an answer but I cant seem to find one with direct user input, so if you could, I would appreciate yours.
I went from an X10 mini pro which had below average battery life (just about managed a day with everything turned off), to a blackberry curve which is shocking. A couple of days a week at university are 18+ hours and it wont get me through 12 of those some days.
I liked my mini pro but it did frustrate me because it was quite so tiny but the Xperia mini looks to be an improvement and if I trade in my blackberry I can get it for virtually free. Obviously I'm going to go and try out the phone for size properly before I buy.
Its between the Xperia mini and the Motorola Defy+, I understand all mentioned are smart phones and so battery life will never be amazing, but with unreliable trains and not being able to ring home because my phone has died yet again isn't really an option.
Is it worth me trading in the Blackberry for the Xperia mini or not?
I went from a x10 mini to a xperia active (which is just a waterproof xperia mini) and i have definately an easier time now getting through the day. I would guess i have about 30% more battery-life now.
I cycle to work (2 x 45 minutes) with bluetooth, gps, data (internet-radio) and screen on.
The x10 mini did it barely but i could not use the phone at work. The xperia active does the same + i can use the phone at work and still have 10-20% left when i get home.
As always your mileage may vare. IMO data sucks most, followed by Display.
worth, xperia mini is more powerful than bb curve of course. I can satisfy with battery life with this much power
Thank you! Just the replies I was looking for! I'll miss the email experience but I'd rather have a phone I can still get my emails on rather than a dead one.
I could well end up with an Xperia mini tomorrow!
I would not buy a mini for its battery,
it hardly lasts me a day with fairly light usage.

I have an Xperia S, and after looking at my phone my roomie liked the way it looked and bought the Xperia P as he was not comfortable with the size of the S.
It's been two days, but since due to AIRTEL not being able to provide him a Micro SIM, He's just using it over WIFI for now till he get's the Micro SIM
Got it for Rs.25000 from Sangeetha Mobiles in Bangalore on Saturday. They threw in a Bluetooth earpiece as well.
It's looking good till now , with the battery lasting pretty well while playing games and listening to music and also while on WIFI. But, I dont know how long the battery lasts with the Mobile network turned on. My estimate is that it'll last for a day and you'll have to charge it at least once every 24 hours with moderate to slightly heavy usage.
As far as User Xperiance is concerned, based on feedback from the XS and the XP, The sony stock launcher is the only one i feel that i can continue using without the need for a replacement launcher, but that is left up to you. The included widgets are not gimmicky and pretty usefull, maybe except for Timescape friends. But that is also a personal preference.
The phone has been running smoothly without any noticeable lag until now. Display looks pretty good, Camera is similar to that of my XS . The photos are pretty sharp and there is enough detail in them. Shot to shot time is less than 1.5 seconds. Also the Auto Scene recognition feature works pretty well and is pretty good while shooting macros.
It's a good phone and i think you can go for it.
Sidenote : this is my roommates first Android. wait Smartphone. and he's extremely impressed.
Let me know if you get it.

the build quality feels solid, and as for the case, he isn't using one. He uses the pouch provided along with it when he carries it in his pocket. I think Sangeetha mobiles have stock of the red one, look there.
Others who have been asking : Death grip not noticed. asn as said Battery gets better with use. Both on the P and on the S.

Hey bought this mobile just this sunday for rs.23200 from mobile point, vile parle mumbai ! was greatly impressed with the screen and the viewing angles as well as the camera quality ! coming to the battery life on my second charge the batery lasted a full 34.5hrs on moderate use ! i charged it on sunday night and then went to sleep ! the display time came to 3 hrs and 45 mins before getting drained, apllication time came to 1 hr and 47 mins, music came around 1 hr and 30 mins(nt included in display time), calls on 2g came to 25mins , web browsing via Wifi was 30 mins, synching my accounts and crating a google account for android market took me 20 mins via gprs ! camera just used for 20 mins and the rest of the time i spent on changing the settings, wallpapers and other apps! removing my idle time of approximately 18 hrs (2 nights sleeps of 7 hr each and another 4 hrs in classes) i guess it provided me with 16 to 18 hrs of use while i was awake ! thx sortof fine to me i guess ! can others also post their reviews about their battery usuage !
34.5 hrs ? that's awesome man.. Mine just lasted some 4 to 5 hours the first day, and was really a let down. But things have changed over last couple of days and I'm getting arround 12 hrs on moderate usage. That includes some 20 mins of gaming (TempleRun), browsing for 15 mins, auto sync n data enabled through out and some 45 mins of talking. I think the battery needs to go through a couple of charging cycles to attain it's optimal performance. Anyways it's a great phone and i'm in love with it.

hey please note: my phone was idle for around 16 to 17 hrs ie while i was asleep or while in classes . so if u deduct dat i too get somewhere around 17 or 18 hrs of practical use! my brightness was automatic with powersaver on ! live wallpaper was switched off, data traffic was turned on only when logging onto the net and last bt nt d least auto sync and permission for apps to use data was disabled . also turn off haptic feedback ie vibrations u get when u use the back, home buttons was turned on ! i mean i did everything to save my battery well i guess battery drains a lot while the networks and wireless are on ! today i left the bluetooth on for somwhere abt 2 or 2 and half hrs and my battery life is 60% after abt 7 and half hours !
Hey, thanks for this thread mate. +1
I am also planning to buy Xperia P as my first Android phone. I just want to confirm that wether it's is battery life is good or not.

[Q] Interested in buying but worried about battery

I guess the title says it all. I'm interested in buying the Z Ultra (unlocked international) but I'm very concerned about the battery.
I HATE having to charge my phone in the middle of the day. If it has to happen once a week that's too often for me. What I currently do with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (which I use as a phone) is I charge it at night when I'm going to sleep. I never have to worry about the charge, even if I am using it constantly all day. If I use the device sparingly I can even stretch it out for two days.
Can this device come even close to that?
Will I have to keep a charger with me at all times?
I can accept a smaller battery than my current amazing performance. What I'm looking for is that most of the time, I can wait to charge my phone until I'm going to bed with average usage. Not constantly checking messages, emails, browser, etc.
Thanks for the answers guys!
hello,
i am also interested to buy the XZU but also worried like you about battery..
What i want to know. how would be the battery life in 1 or 2 years ?
I think we have to wait a few more month to get the best details
The answer is pretty clear. You can't compare the two. 7.7 has nearly 2x battery capacity (5100mAh vs 3000mAh) than ZU. Tab 7.7. It runs on 2 Cortex A9 processer which is slower and use much lesser power than the latest Snapdragon 800 chip.
I can only say battery if the 3G ZU is comparable to Samsung S4 LTE.

So do you mean it can barely get through a day? Rushing to charge it in the evening? Or fine till bedtime?

It all depends on user. How I use the device will be different from everyone else. But generally speaking you can go to the General Section and check the battery usage stats. Most people can last through a working day (ie leave home with 100% and survive until knock off and reach home).

This is one of my biggest dilemma when I was considering the Z Ultra. To be frank, I hated phones without swappable batteries so I rarely buy such phones.
If you share the same concern, ask yourself if you can do with large powerbanks (I'm personally not really fond of the idea). Personally, if possible, I prefer a swappable battery - just change and ready to go.
If you dislike powerbanks, maybe you should wait for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
It's a matter of choice. If you like the phone, buy it. With some tweaks you can make it last a whole day.
I don't think I'll "just buy it". The phone looks beautiful & everything but battery life for me is very important. I have this problem with all phones these days. They can all be made just a tiny bit thicker and have a bigger battery that lasts for a day and a half or two days with a few hours each day of screen time. That way if you use the phone a little too much today, it'll still last till the end of the day.
If you work for Sony you can give them this feedback
All smartphones have this so called 'problem'. The battery just can't handle more than a day with average usage. The only thing remaining is to use apps to hibernate applications,CPU handling and other tweaks,of course,on a rooted phone.

Sorry guys I'm not here to complain!!! I'm just asking about the phone and how it suits my preferences. Great battery life is a requirement for me and others who have posted in this thread. Tweaks might help, but I'm not interested in spending my time fiddling till I get it just right. I've also heard that a lot of Sony devices can have very long standby time which is great, but I also want long usage time.
For now I'll stick to my (admittedly crazy) way of using my tablet as a phone till someone makes a nice large screened phone (6+) with great (not average) battery life. There are smaller phones with great battery life, this however is a new size that I'm interested in (big but not toooo big) but my original requirement remains: great battery life.

Not a bad choice, HD screen with 2 more A9 cores compared to his 7.7 tab with a whooping 4050mAh battery for a smartphone these days.
Still kinda an upgrade for him

Actually, it's not too bad. I've even used the Note 10.1 before which is a 720p stretched over 10.1'' screen
Honestly it isn't too bad considering the viewing distance (remember PPI alone doesn't mean a thing if you don't take into account of the viewing distance) but once you've been spoilt by FHD screens.. there's no going back

I checked and didn't find the Huawei in my country.
About pixel density, at 6 inches 1280 * 720 is pretty good but of course Sony's 1080p is amazing.
I just read the Engadget review of the Z Ultra and it seems pretty average for a phone but strange that they played one game for one hour and lost 40% of the charge! I'm not ready to deal with that unfortunately.
Seriously the device is expensive but I would've bought it in 2 seconds if the battery was better.

They played Riptide GP 2 for an hour. Have you seen that game? It's not exactly Tetris, so it's understandable that it sucks the life out of the battery. I watched a YouTube review of Riptide, and they said it kills the battery, and the reviewer played it on a different device (can't remember which, but it was either the Note 2, S4, HTC One or the Moto X)
I did a Google search for external power back for an 'Xperia z ', as this mobiles been around for a while.
I found an external battery product for the Xperia z from a company called 'Power Bank', and decided to send them an email enquiry regarding any possibilities that they might do a similar the market product for the 'Xperia z ultra', they replied saying that it is very likely that they will have something in on the market, and to watch their website during the coming months.
So, for anyone who's thinking of getting one, or has one already, there's a good change the battery stamina issue may well get solved.

[Q] Tell me everything about Xperia Z Ultra

Hi buddies, i was checking for the Xperia Z Ultra, it is really a good option???
I love this phablet, specially for the big screen. But I have some questions:
Can you tell me your user experience with Z Ultra?
Are the integrated battery smartphones sure? I use the removable battery all the time. You can tell me your experience with other Sony phones too.
Can you tell me all the bugs you found in it
Tell me general aspects of this phone (portability, heating, camera, sound, screen, etc.)
Anyone tried PPSSPP in the Z Ultra? Can you tell me your experience with high graphic games (e.g Crash Titans, God Of War)
I´m considering buy this phone, I love it. Thanks in advance.
Sorry for my poor English.
- If you mean user experience as in Sony UI, it's good. It's not bloated and things are fast and smooth. As for its physical size, it can be too much if you have small hands, but we - the users here, clearly like it.
- The battery is non-removable and it's good. You can expect to get 4-5 hours of screen time on each charge with 15-24 hours of uptime. My personal record is 7 hours of screen time and about 22 hours of uptime (on a single charge). STAMINA does its job very well, so it doesn't use much battery while it's in standby.
- There aren't many bugs, but there might be some small ones. I can't really say that i've noticed any bugs in the latest firmware (257), but i'm sure there are some small ones hiding some place. You won't experience any serious ones though.
- Portability is.. well.. not as good as an iPhone or a Nexus 5, but you'll have to learn to have it in your jacket (if you live in a temperate region), and also learn to take the Ultra out of your front pocket when you sit down, or it might bend, Heating isn't an issue as long as you don't play games while charging the battery or play an intensive 3D game for a long period of time. Camera is really bad. That is all. The speaker is not that good and it's like a 5 year old playing the drums. You'll certainly hear it and you'll hear it when you receive calls and notifications, but it's not powerful at all so I wouldn't use it as a boomblaster at a party (the vibrator is brutal though). The screen is fantastic and it's bright and does the job very well, so no complaints there.
That's it i guess.
