same as mine. i cant root my phone..
Is there any noticable differences between this stock firmware and the last 2.1 update? I'm guessing you've lost all custom settings etc like apps2sd????
Just checked via my phone, no update available....
edit: just read a blog, it's only minor fixes, won't be updating for now....

I haven't updated my phone but here's the blog http://blog.esato.com/2010/12/sony-ericsson-xperia-x10-firmware-update-available/
No thanks.. I ain't too keen on losing all the goodness of root access, JIT, xrecovery and customization just for a few crappy bug fixes. It would be an insult to developers who have put in all the hard work to provide us with these features.

I figured a lot of people want this instead of a nandroid backup so here you go. You're all welcome. Be aware that you will need to upload the fixed build.prop (recommended for US users) and change the boot animation (optional). Unpack the zip file and use stock recovery to flash this update.
My OEM version is GAUSB1A120521-US
Password is streakthis
Thanks and donations are much appreciated.

Can this be used on an O2-UK Dell Streak?
If so can we n00b's have a little guide?
Im desperate to get official 2.1, thanks!
Yup, it's from O2 as you can see in the screenshot.
as simple as dropping it on the sd card then?
No special build.prop adjustments? (<--the scary part for me)
Yup, absolutely. You don't have to edit the build.prop since you have O2 anyway. It's only for US users so it will reflect the US paid apps.

Won't you lose root loading it though?
I might wait until some-one 'plays' with it..

Not really, could just root with Universal Androot after flashing it?
I'm waiting for someone else to confirm this is legit though
Universal root works. I've had this update running for a week now.
Wow, really?
Is it worth flashing over the previous 2.1 rom?
I took the leap for everyone and it does indeed install. I have only had it running for a few minutes but it does seem a little faster than the beta. Hard to believe this is the official as there is still no way to use the front facing camera in the camera app unless i am missing something.
What else do you guys want me to check out?
Let me know I'll try it
I currently have the 6941 build. I have the At&t US version streak. If I update to this will this cause me any issues? I'm also rooted.
Mine's rooted and the front camera still can't be used unless i open fring or qik.

Which is why I question if this is the official update. Any reason for you to think it is? Or just guessing?
Any thing else that doesn't work from 1.6 to indicate it may not be official? I only used 1.6 for about 5 minutes so it is hard for me to compare.
its official from 02
Check the screenshot. It's official from O2. How many times do i need to repeat that? I got the notification as well.

There were others at Modaco that got update notifications for the 7546 package but that didn't make it official. I am just asking how you are confirming this is official or what about the about screen makes it official.
And I like I said I upgrade to it and it for sure is an update and seems to be running fine.
On the leaked update there is no trace of any brand support whatsoever. This one had a link to the O2 support site. I had to confirm it from an O2 rep. Yup, it's legit. Funny how they still didn't fix the front facing camera. In 2.2 perhaps? By the way, don't look at my about screen.. I'm talking about the screenshot on my first post.
Hey guys,
I just received a message saying that there is a new software update?? When I selected it it said my phone has the latest update. Did anyone get this thing? Do you think se is going to push 2.3.5?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I got it as well and got the same messages as you. ie. I already have the latest software
Not here i flashed to stock to see it...
@ nanodroid
Are you using stock ROM and/or kernel?
IIRC I noticed this behaviour already on stock 2.1 on my and my wifes X10.

Yes, at the moment I am using stock 2.3 rom and kernel. the only thing I flashed was the audio fix and the fps fix. I don't think they can cause this behaviour..
I am quite surprised because I never had this thing,I received this kind of messages before on the older roms and updated it ota, as they used to do,but it is strange. that's why I thought they were trying to push 2.3.5 or a minor update..

I'm going to generalize, so this concepts aren't always 100% true but the majority of times they'll be correct. Generally, from HTC they release two types of OTA updates. 1) Only minor software updates. 2) Update both the kernel, android system, custom recovery, radio (sometimes bootloader and pri).
When the OTA updates are of the 1st situation, they are very minor and usually don't have *significant* impact on any part of the device. Essentially only patch bugs or glitches in HTC's bundled Sense/3rd party apps.
When the 2nd situation for OTA occurs, these updates are usually larger and more important. The impact on the device can be much larger as both the kernel and the system are being updated together.
In the 2nd situation, most of the time you'll want to make sure the kernel being loaded matches the version of system software being loaded. Sometimes they are backward/inter compatiable and sometimes they are not. Best practice is to keep the kernel/system software in sync.
In addition, for the 2nd situation, if a new kernel is released, HTC has *roughly* 30 days (not a hard number) to release the source code for the updated kernel. Until the kernel source is released, it will be very hard for developers to release customized versions of the new kernel.
Hope that helps!
joey,
thanks you've helped me so much going back to my Moment days. so to sum it all up, if I want a Rom with the updated 217, ,i need to go through the process of updating then unlock again or whatever?
thank you

Hello to everyone. Sorry if the post does not go here.
I have a factory unlocked Galaxy S2 and wanted to know if there is a way to update it with the official jelly bean update, since the roll out started for some countries i thought maybe i could do the update too. My country didn't recieve the update yet, and when i search for updates, it obviously says theres none. But wanted to know if theres a method, that does not involve rooting or something like that.
Thanks in advanced
Just flash some other countries rom
I.e Spain
Yeah i heard that, but i wanted to know if there was a way to updating it without flashing some rom. Because i cant understand why i can update since my phone is unlocked. I even tried to search for updates without a sim but with no luck.

No.
If you want JB now then you will need to flash Spains or some other countries stock rom via ODIN or flash a custom rom via cwm recovery.

It's about the firmware, not about network status (locked - unlock).
Judging by your nick you are from Argentina-Uruguay. You'll get the update in march.
Sent from the little guy
hahah gastonw you are correct about the country! My phone is from eeuu, but it was updated with ICS from my country, so I suppose I´ll have to wait till march.
Thanks to all for the help

Just flash it via Odin / mobile odin so you can show off running JB while your friends run gingerbread or ICS (or iOS, they always look away going like "argh...I got nothing to show against that spaceship", luv it )

Can anyone point me to the information that says what's in this update. Just got it a week or so ago... google doesn't provide much detail on the specifics... I can download the firmware but nothing to tell me what it changes
Thanks
I still have R750PVPU1APB1
Supposedly it improves compatibility with MM and fixes the freezing error(which I was getting).
i like the update everything seems much snappier

Added root access to the newest update for my own Gear S, so decided to share: (flash using Odin)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0a0KxS2Q3gUcGNoOGdDOWhhbGM/view?usp=sharing
Also I have the stock odin firmware for the newest release. Oops, this is for the T-Mobile version.
My battery life took a nose dive from this update. Wish I up-didn't.
