[Q] bluetooth transfer failure? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

maybe someone can help me here with regards to transferring files via bluetooth.
i'm trying to send a 300KB picture but it seems that more than 5 mins, it's still transferring the file. nothing's being transferred.
at first i thought it was the software (Bluesoleil v6) but i am able to transfer files from my other phone (samsung e590) to the pc without any problem.
i've tried (1) turning off/on the BT of my phone, (2) switching off/on the phone, (3) turning on/off the BT software, (4) reinstalling the software but nothing seems to work.
is the generic BT software in Android 2.1 has issue with regards to sending files? is there a way to fix it aside from downloading an app in the Market?

After updating to 2.1 in November I had exactly the same problem.
Ended up with deleting the 'Bluetooth.apk' from system/app, and installing 'Bluetooth File Transfer' from Medieval Software (free on the market). Now I don't even think of such kind of bugs with BT, tho I'm still curious why stock app failed... Sorry, but no clue.

i have windows 7 and mac os...
on snow leopard, no problem whatsoever transferring and browsing files on my mini pro...
on windows 7 however, half of the time, transfer fails.
whenever it does, i delete the pairing on my phone and pair it again from the phone...then i try again...usually after a few tries, it works.

^^ that doesn't work for me though .. but the 'Bluetooth File Transfer' from the Market works.
i decided to repair the software again and this time the native BT of Eclair not works without any problem.
not sure though what caused the problem even though i re-did the steps that I did after updating to 2.1

ActiveSync 4.2 and 4.5 not seeing device...

Ran into a problem. My ActiveSync wouldn't recognize my device. It's showing up within Device Manager but when I connect it no go.
ActiveSync knows something is being connected because it starts to do it's thing but then errors out and cannot establish a connection with my Athena.
Anyone else run into this problem?
I've uninstalled/reinstalled ActiveSync 4.2 AND 4.5. Checked to ensure that the services that ActiveSync depends on are running, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you are not running Windows Vista are you?
No. Running Windows XP Pro.
It was working a bit flakey at first. I had an HTC TyTN synching perfectly on ActiveSync 4.5. When I got my Advantage in, I hooked it up and it acted a bit weird but trying to hurry and get my phone up and running I avoided setting up the relationship so it was a "guest". I installed software onto my Advantage without a problem. Later, once I got my stuff migrated from TyTn to Advantage, I deleted all existing relationships in ActiveSync then tried to join the Advantage to it and it knows the phone is there but won't establish a profile with it. Did a repair on 4.5, didn't work. Uninstalled/reinstalled 4.5, didn't work. Uninstalled 4.5 and installed 4.2 (the version on the CD), didn't work. Researched ActiveSync and noticed that one of the dependent services was stopped...I activated this service, rebooted...didn't work. ActiveSync uses a TCP/IP port to listen on so I did "telnet 127.0.0.1 xxxx" where xxxx is the port and it's there listening, so requests can be accepted.
I'll probably try hard resetting my device this weekend if no one has any recommendations. Once I find the answer I'll post it here.
Possible causes are:
- Corrupt ActiveSync on laptop. An uninstall/reinstall should have resolved this unless the unlerlying OS files that ActiveSync utilizes are corrupt and those weren't repaired/replaced during the reinstall.
- Corrupt ActiveSync on phone. Can't be uninstalled/reinstalled to my knowledge without a hard reset so not much I can do.
- Maybe the GPRS monitor I installed caused a problem. I initially installed the one that came on the CD but had to remove it because it kept locking up the phone and slowing things down significantly.
Are you running BitDefender as your AV/Firewall? A recent update prevents ActiveSync from working correctly. see link:

No. Not running either. I did a hard reset and it started working again. Then a few days later the same thing happened again. Not sure exactly what the problem is but since I already did a hard reset and the problem resurfaced, I'm going to have to do some debugging to figure out what the culprit is. Just hate wasting time going through a debug. :-/
Hi,
I am experiencing similar problems with my T-Mobile MDA Compact 3.
I recently re-installed my PC and installed 4.5 having previously used 4.2.
After a few days it stopped syncing. It still allowed you to view files on the phone from the PC and install programs, it just would not Sync.
I did a hard reset of the phone to night and it worked fine to begin with but now it appears to have stopped working again.
Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong. I am assuming that AS 4.5 is the problem here.

That is weird. After my initial hard reset, it happened again. I did another hard reset anyhow because I was trying out new programs and wanted it to be clean again. Not sure what was causing mine to stop functioning but when it did, I couldn't connect to the phone at all. I wouldn't browse nor synch, etc.
It has now definately stopped working.
Looks like I will have to hard reset the MDAC3 again and try from scratch using AS 4.2.
My only concern that without reinstalling my PC there may be some residual problem in the registry or elsewhere that the new installs are picking up.
I am about to try another trawl of the Internet to see if anyone else is experiencing these problems, and has a solution.
Regards
Hi,
....and we are back. I went back to Microsofts site and looked over all the various solutions for AS problems where you are connected but not syncing.
There is a suggestion that USB hubs can cause problems and that you should connect your phone directly to the PCs main USB ports. I had discounted that as it has always been connected to the USB port with no problems.
I have just tried it and it and it is now syncing fine again.
I am assuming that AS 4.2 coped with the hub okay or my reinstall of the PC had caused the problem.
I will now try some soft resets and re-boots of my PC to see if AS keeps working. Fingers crossed!!!
Regards
...and now we are back to square one.
I also tried unistalling Outlook 2007 and reinstalling 2002 and AS 4.2 but it did not even connect.
One thing I have also noticed is when you run the troubleshooter in AS it seems to think that their is not a copy of Outlook as it tells you to install Outlook 2000 or higher. This would explain the lack of syncing while the device appears connected in terms of being to explore it and install programs.
Tried a search on this on the Internet but did not find anything.
Looks like a full reinstall of the PC and a Hard Reset of the device is required.
Deep Joy, thanks Microsoft.
Regards
START ---> Settings ---> Connections Tab ----> USB to PC icon !! have a play with that, it worked for me, when I was having the same problems as you !!
Do you have Clean Notificatons installed or any other program that clears the notifications cache? I may have found one cause of the ActiveSync issue I was experiencing.
Hi,
Well I did the full install of both PC and phone and after one sync it started to play up again. I was about to through both out of the window when I began to realise that there was a slight issue on the phone itself.
I use SBSH Pocket Weather and I noticed that it did not seem to be updating weather and image automatically. I had imported settings from my previous setup. I reinstalled PW and set it up from scratch and hey presto Active Sync is working fine again.
I guess some form of problem must have migrated over in the PW settings.
Either that or it was just blind luck it worked.
Regards

Confirmed !
Had the same problem and solved it by removing the tag in the above mentioned icon.

I also tried the USB to... setting but it didn't resolve my issue.

Just got my Advantage today! I love it so far, especially the A2DP!
Also had activesync problems: I could synchronise but I could not connect to the internet, only via USB!
Now it is working with AS 4.2 and above box unchecked!
With AS 4.5 -which I also tried- I could not connect to internet with above box checked & unchecked !!!
Cheers,
Ronald

Is the USB connection set up as Internet in AS4.5?

i really screwed up---need help

so my activesync hasnt been working for a few days, so i went onto microsoft to try to fix it, and they had an idea of removing the program and reinstalling it, so i did that. My device still cannot be read. i am going to reflash my device with dcds rom, but the only problem i am afraid of now is the fact that i dont have any way to back up my contacts since i cannot connect to my computer, can someone please help me, i really dont know what to do
Get the PIM backup program and save the data to your SD card....
how do i get it on my phone, i cant connect to my pc
You have to copy the cab file to your micro sd card with a card reader. Then install from the cab and run backup to your card.
another way is to make a share on your desktop and connect to it on you phone via wifi.
i got it on my phone, thanks for the help, i really appreciate it

I am glad you go the sd card flash to sort out your problem of getting the rom onto the ppc. My activesync connection is incredibly flaky too. One minute it works, next minute it wont. I am almost certain it is a problem with the pc as others have this problem too. I even seem to remember a post by dcd saying he had the same issue.
Well the way I fixed the problem was to turn off "enable advanced network functionality" from the ppc side. The option is in the start-->settings-->connections tab-->"USB to PC" applet. (This is also sometimes misplaced in start-->settings-->system tab when you have WM6.1 running). Once I disable the advanced network functionality my activesync works flawlessly, and despite what the warning tells you, it seems just as fast as with the advanced network functionality enabled.
i tried it, but unfortunately it still didnt work. i cant even flash my phone right now
First, make sure that both the phone and windows mobile device center are configured to use usb. Also try clearing that option and reselecting it. That sometimes helps. To back up your contacts, see if you can sync over bluetooth. I have found that sometimes I can sync over bluetooth even though it wont connect over usb.
I had a similiar prob with active sync, googled and found a newer version installed the newer version after uninstalling the old. No more problems.
gogetta, where did you find a newer version of ActiveSync?
Wait, maybe I'd better start with "What version did you find?"
I've been using the 4.5 that shipped with my xv6800, and it has worked perfectly ... until ...
Last weekend I installed a new hard drive, using the old one as the slave. It's been a nightmare. I can't get it to work at all!
I've installed, uninstalled, deleted registry settings, etc. so many times I can't even count. I've been all over the web and tried many things .. nothing seems to work.
So what version did you find that worked for you?

bluetooth problem after update?

hey so i went from x10a r2ba026 to x10i 2.1 update
i was able to open my phone's directories on my comp using bluetooth before,
but now, i can discover the phone, but i can't connect to it.. same if i try to pair it from the phone..
before i got this code thing that willmake sure that i'm pairing with the right phone, but now it doesn't even give me that... it just says it can't connect or it's got the wrong pairing code...
anyone else have this problem??
Me too

five and counting...
Seems my problem after the update is I now can't use the bluetooth in the car for phone. Was able to on 1.6 (all UK generics on the x10i as they were available via updates).
The X10i will pair with the Altima 2008 Coupe with NAV built in. Will let me make the call, but the audio is all garbled / screechy. I rooted the phone and tried the Bluetooth Fix Repair on market place that is suppose to reset the it back to default. Alas no luck.
I have changed the firmware from the generic UK version to the generic World version with the same results. Any thoughts? Would hope that the updates to the bluetooth software would still let it be able to connect to an older device it was able to connect to before.
Here is hoping..
Same crap on mine, when I try to connect to any computer it usualy considers the computer beeing a headset(???!). And when I try to browse files the computer(s) just say something like "no service running" or "wrong service running".
The bluetooth part of the phone is now a brick.

[Q] Accessing Omate from PC?

I recently received an Omate TrueSmart:
Model: TrueSmart
Android 4.2.2
Baseband version: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V 4.P1,2013/11/09 14:19
Kernel version 3.4.5
Omate version OUI2.0
Custom build version Omate_TrueSmart_20140120.15 4604_V2.0
This is my first 'cellular' device (yeah, about time I reached the 21st century...) for which I still have to procure a proper plan and SIM card, but in the meantime, still trying to get familiar.
I have read a few of the postings here, found and installed the 'All-tools(14-2-15)', ran the 'UniversalAdbDriverSetup.msi' and 'DPInst64.exe' on my PC (Windows 7/64), and see two 'devices' on my PC when I link the TS using the USB connection; both of which are listed as 'removable media' that request a CD to be inserted (!) when clicked. I was hoping to see a tree structure of files that could be explored, where files could be added, but this does not appear to be so.
I ran the "MTK Droid Root & Tools V2.5.2" and proceeded with a 'Backup', and since 1.18 G of data was saved, I assume that there is some way to get to the device file system. What am I missing here?
Also, since I have not yet got the SIM, I can nevertheless access internet using my home WiFi. The 'setup email' baffles me a bit. I try to specify my gmail account, but the keyboard takes so much room, I cannot see what I am typing. I tried connecting a Bluetooth external keyboard, but the TS did not acknowledge it. It is obvious that I am missing a lot here. Where to start? Is there some kind of primer on the TS? The 'owner manual' is pretty light on the software tools...
Thanks for any help
CBVG
The Bluetooth keyboard I connected, a Logitech Keyboard Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 worked properly and immediately after I paired it.
Sometimes Bluetooth on the TrueSmart just fails, probably due to errors in the TS firmware. If so, you need to hard reset the TS and it might start working again. To do that, either pull the battery or disable Quickboot under Accessibility Settings and power down. The TS comes with Quickboot enabled, so powering down does not reset it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
You should not proceed any further until after you have patched your TS.
As far as viewing files, normally you will only see the contents of the storage area (internal storage and SDCard) when attached to the PC. You will not have access to other areas.

Slow file transfer over WiFi

Just to clarifiy this is not an LG G5 specific issue. My G4 and G2 had this issue as well as most Android phones I have had.
So the problem then.
I can use an app like ES File Manager and look at my network shares from my PC. I can transfer files from my PC to my phone using said App at a decent speed. I get around 2 to 7mb a second witch is fine. But when it comes to transfering files from my phone to my PC... Id be lucky to see 1mb! Usaly get around 500k so its slow as hell.
Using a USB cable is fine of corse but I don't want to have to do that all the time.
So what gives??
All other things over WiFi work fine on my phone and PC. I also tested with another PC and I had the same issue.
When I try to transfer a file over wifi my phone disconnects from the wifi. I've tried to make factory reset but nothing, I did a back to stock and nothing. I don't now if it is a SW problem or HW problem but I thing that the G5 is disappointment!
