[Q] Missing sound notification? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason this only applies to K9 mail
When I get an email, there is no sound notification. At first I thought it was a bug with the sound file I selected (so I got rings extended) and that didn't help. Keep sending/receiving emails and still no sound. I checked my sound settings, there are bars on everything and the phone is not on vibrate/mute
I also got E-Mail notifier thinking a different program could call the sound but it doesn't play it either! What is going on? Stock sound files won't play... is there a problem with my rom? (axura 2.2)
When I click on the sound file it previews properly. Notifications work properly with sms. Not sure what is going on, any ideas?

unchangable notification tone

Hi there..
I have the t-mobile G2 TOUCH, hero that is, and I cant seem to find out how I could change the ringtone for my notifications.
The thing is. When I change it like it should normaly work, it keeps on giving me the lousy and way to loud t-mobile notification sound.
when i receive a mail it does give the chosen sound, but when i receive a text message it gives me the **** t-mobile tone again.
I did i guess everything i could (to getting the maps on the root for ringtone, alarm and notifications. I can see the files, but like i said before, i only hear them on my email receiving and not my text messages.
anyone familiar with this problem and if so, got an answer, or should i go back to the store and swap the fone now it is still possible...
thnx
The message tone is different to the notification tone. Go to messages - menu - settings - sound and change it there.
you most definetly are my hero
alsmost returned the poor thing haha
i never guessed that nor would i have found that one!
many thanks
Your welcome

No vibrate on notifications?

I noticed today that my phone does not vibrate on notifications. When I put it in silent mode, it will vibrate for phone calls but not for any other notification such as SMS, Google Voice, etc. Anyone else having this issue?
EDIT...hopefully this will help someone. After reading the forum for a bit I found a reference to the Sound Manager app. I downloaded it and checked the settings. For whatever reason, vibrate for notifications for turned off on my phone. The strange thing is, I cant find this setting anywhere. Under notifications, all I have is the option to change the ringtone. After turning vibrate on in Sound Manager, everything works. So my question is, why isnt there a vibrate on notification setting in my phone?
settings-->sound-->vibration-->always.

Unfortunately, that did not fix the issue for me. I tried every possible setting in sound>>vibration and could not get vibrate to work for notifications.
Mine works flawlessly.

[SOLVED] Random Notification Sound

I noticed this before I rooted my phone and it is starting to bug me. I have already check roaming notifications and all are off. What happens is at random times I get a doorbell sound from my phone and the notification light blinks. No notification are displayed, no gmail, no email, no text message. Does anyone have a clue what is causing this notification, and if so how do I disable it?

Do you have Yahoo Mail installed? You can tell it to not put notification in the toolbar but it'll still make the sound and flash the notification light. It's default sound kind of sounds like a doorbell. For me that mail account gets a lot of junk so I don't want to be notified I have mail unless I manually check. Overall I hate that app and with my new EVO I just use HTC's email application.
I get the same thing and it happens when I go into roam, no matter what roaming notification settings I turn off. I posted this issue in other forums and haven't had any luck. My next step is to install stock ROM and see if maybe there's just something on the software side screwed up.

You are correct it was yahoo mail. I had turned off notifications but did not turn off sound. Thanks for your help.
Glad I could help. I had the same exact issue on my OG evo after Yahoo updated that app.

[Q] AOKP PUB 12/27 Sounds issues

I love Steve's AOKP PUB Rom but I seem to have one really irritating issue upon using it. I set my ringtone and notification sounds to the ones i always use. Pyxis for Ringtone, and Don't Panic for notifications. Then i noticed that i was not hearing the sounds during incoming phone calls and texts. So i go into the sound setting to see whats up and they both have unrecognized sounds listed. When i try to re-establish the original setting all the choices are gone except for 2 or 3 instead of the usual several dozen. If i use Root Explorer to go into the media folder all the ogg files are still present. Sometimes they come back upon a reboot. Sometimes they dont. Anyone else seen this or know whats happening? Thanks.

Same here. I'm back of AOKPBRAVO at the moment because of the sound issues. One thing that helped me a bit was to disable vibrate with ring and have ring only but it still would lose the ringtone and on calls the screen would light up and i had missed calls because the ringtone wouldn't be recognized.
I have noticed this same issue and believe I have found a work around for the problem. First take off the Vibrate on incoming calls. Then in the root of your sdcard there is a ringtones folder. Make sure that the ringtone is in that folder. With some of these new roms, they will only play ringtones that are in that folder plus the default that the developer chooses. Go into contacts and set the ringtone for the contact. First I would do it as a test ringtone on a number you can call from. If you have the same ringtone for multiple people then you have to make a new copy of that file. It will only play it for the last contact you assign it too. That is how I cleared my troubles with it. Hope this works out for you.

[Q] Speaker not muted when earphones/headphones are plugged in.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530554
Seems to be popular with Samsung phones, so as the title says, external speaker is not muted or sounds don't pass to the headphones. Usually on my other phones, if I did know or felt silent mode wasnt working, id just plug in my headphone and be done but with my S6 is doing this now and I don't remember it doing it before.
Any ideas?
update: I uninstall some apps, and for a moment gmail notification were routed to the headphones, I kept sending myself emails and it started it doing it again
update 2: Ah great great, now, notications don't come through, I was sending myself emails but now they don't even show up and I just updated gmail. I have to manually pull down on gmail to refresh to see new emails. My settings in both gmail and the phone were account were auto sync
