I have black screen showing with words vibrant and Samsung displayed on it.
I see quite a few posts about it and I am hopeful it can get fixed. What's worrying me about it is the way I got this problem.
Two days ago I bought two phones - one for a Christmas present and one for myself. I had one phone unlocked, rooted and upgraded to Froyo 2.2 by the seller.
Last night I gave it as a present to my wife but I wanted to associate her gmail account with it. So I added new account through settings. Then I wanted to remove my account from it but it told me that it's being used by other applications. It said that I should delete personal data through Privacy settings - and I did.
When I rebooted I've got the black screen. I wasn't flashing or doing anything crazy. Why would it happen?
I see Android is quite sensitive about gmail account associations! On my second phone I cannot associate any gmail account, can't access Market etc. I found the workaround to login first to YouTube app but that doesn't get me access to Android Market! Why is gmail account linking to Android phones so finicky? Is it only with Galaxy T-Mobile phones or is it present accross the board?
Btw, great forums - lots of info here. I am glad I came accross this awesome site!

Your problem of how you got it is...
Confusing me,but gmail IS sensitive to android , if you lose your lockscreen password your gmail gets it back you can say that gmail is the core of android.
How to fix
On the android development section for vibrants theres a sticky known as the bible
Read through it
Download necessary things ull be provided
In the end you'll use a program called odin to set your phone back to normal
Then you can root again and flash a better froyo
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Thanks xriderx66!
I read a lot and finally fixed one of my phones but I am still learning a lot from you guys.
Now my biggest task ahead is fixing Android market as I cannot log into it. For me everything is complicated by the fact that I have my phones unlocked from T-mobile. I read that when you flash with ODIN you might relock it permanently. But hopefully there is workarounds for that too!
Thanks for words of encouragement!

Hi there!
First things first: I have a T-mob Hero (UK) with MCR 2.9 - Rooted -
Having said that:
I purchased an unlock code to use the phone while back in Italy (I know, I know.... Berlusconi-land...Sorry for that guys!), and it worked like charm...Or...Didi it?
I was able to do anything I wanted and needed, and when prompted to kind of "sync" with my "new" sim, I said no, since everything looked perfectly fine and on top of that I just wanted to put its original sim in for the time being. This is when funny things started to happen: first I got a message from t-mob and the download of the message (1k) failed miserably over and over... Then... I was asked to "apply the settings of the sim card" (kinda made sense... From A to B and back to A), and this time I said yes, linking the two problems. Next my phone started to act funny (like when you "taskill" sense - Twice over), and then...I was back to my original HTC scene. Mmmmm... All my apps were in the list and I was connected to the net but yet.... Where's MY scene? I looked around a bit but it looks like they just vanished. I wouldn't have taken it to a post if it was just that, though. I was asked for my gmail password twice (like when you enter the market with no account linked), it worked (on the second attempt!)...I was in Market, I had my downloads...bla bla bla... Funny but harmless let's say. But then it was time for Latitude to show funny IMPROVEMENTS! I had recently lost the ability to see the pics of my gmail latitude friends. I got it back. NOT entirely... But still...
So, in the end of the day, I am left with my scene to rebuild but (some) pics back in latitude. This leaves me puzzled. Anyone in the known cares to shed some light please?
Ciao
I'm on stock / rooted 4.5.91 for ATT Atrix. Prior to the GB update I was having daily issues with my exchange email, where I would get a "Connection Error" and only removing the account, rebooting, and re-adding the account would get it temporarily resolved. It would work for 1-2 days, then it would have the same issue happen again. Unchecking the "verify certificates" box seemed to help, but again only temporarily.
Now that I'm on GB I've only seen it once, but I'm still frustrated by it. My work email is important (if it was absolutely critical, I'd suck it up an get a BB), and I'm seriously annoyed by connection issues.
I'd like to try the AOSP email.apk and stock Android exchange sync setup, but not sure how to do that from where I am now. I assume it is harder than removing the existing email.apk and installing a new one.
I know the Aura ROM has the AOSP email built in, but not quite ready to go down the unlocked bootloader path. I'd like to keep my warranty in case the AOSP email doesn't work and I need to return the Atrix.
Anyone able to help?
Thanks.

I don't know the answer to your question, but are you sure it's not your corpo's fault? We run 4 exchange servers here and we have had no complaints about failed connections or anything of the sort, whether it's android, iPhone or otherwise. I have an Atrix and had it set up with my email since day one and I have had no issues at all.

Nope, not sure. But I do know numerous iOS and other Android users (mostly HTC phones, a few OG Droids) that don't have this issue.
I work at a small company so we have a hosted exchange service, and I had our IT guy remove and re-add the Activesync service for my account. That seemed to help for a day, but then back to the same problem.
I'd be willing to bet it is something that is incompatible between the Atrix and the exchange environment, but I've got limited access / visibility to that, and a variety of data points that do not have issues, so I'm trying this route.
Thanks for the input. If you have suggestions on things I can ask my provider to check / uncheck, I'm open.
Thus doesn't actually answer your question but I got tired of dealing with that from rom to rom so I just bought "enhanced email" from the market. Its $10 and gets around the pin requirement if you want to.
Sent from my Att Atrix 4g unlocked.
I had this start on my Captivate running Serendipity VII a few days ago and it is now completely shut down, no emails getting through. I use Enhanced Email as my email program. Very interested in discovering a solution.
on my BB, it took 30+ mins or even an hour to get emails. My exchange works perfectly on my Atrix, as it did on my Inspire. Its probably your phone
Agreed EE is awesome. We use it on 14 different phones in my office.
Last time I tried to get rid of Corporate Sync I kept getting FC's afterwards.
I recommend using the exchange app included in CM roms. It's based on AOSP but has some mods like email signature, and on your atrix the account will show up next to the google accounts in settings menu.
go download a CM zip from http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices/nexus-one and then extract system/app/email.apk to your phone and install it. then just add the account in settings.
I had issues with company exchange servers and went to Moxier Mail, they have a free 7 day trial then for $19.00 you get it all, contacts, calendar, email, tasks.....stays connected except when I changed my password (every 60 days). Then I had to remove and reload, but that was only issue....very reliable.....

Thanks, I'll try that.
Would I replace the email.apk with the CM one, or just install it in addition?

Appreciate the help. Got the file extracted then realized I had one more question - do I need to change the name, or is it ok to have 2 "email.apk" applications?
I realize it is a total noob question, but figure better to ask than to screw something up.
you can just install it. the blur version is titled BlurEmail.apk. if a conflict were to arise - it would ask you to overwrite. the system identifies apps differently so just renaming it wont change how it installs.
ex. Google+ shows up as "Google+" but the system seems and calls on com.google.android.apps.plus
Hi! I'm new to this forum, I just got a replacement X2 from Verizon after receiving Several Fascinates in the mail and the issue not being resolved...
:::::::::::::::EDIT::::::::::::
My Bad, it never fails as soon as you ask a question to a public forum OR tell your spouse something doesn't work..... It magically fixes itself.
I have no idea what happened but all the accounts that are supposed to be on the phone from the beginning randomly appeared..... Are things always this confusing with the X2?
:::::::::::::::EDIT::::::::::::
Anyways, on to my question, I'm playing with it right now stock before I go and root it I like to be familiar with the phone, but I cannot for the life of me get Facebook to sync my contacts. And I'm not talking about the merging and all that, I don't mind merging/joining manually, but my Facebook contacts won't populate or even give the option, I've uninstalled and re-installed a couple times already, but I read somewhere about a "Stock" Facebook app/acct, my only option is to download it from the market.. This phone seems pretty cool but even though it is still android it is a lot different from the fascinate.
Thank You for any help!
Danielle
You and the rest of us...
I know the facebook that comes pr-installed on the phone will ad every contact if you sign in under the social messaging app..crazy why the market facebook has no option

Yea agreed Droid X2 is very Flaky.
I have problems with My Verizon Mobile ,
Backup Assistant , apps disappearing & reappearing
icons disappearing . Verizon CS & Tech is a great source
of misinformation like spinning a roulette wheel .
No help at all unless you like being more confused ?
Aaanywayyy that a whole other topic sorry for the rant.
I have traced the disappearing apps & icons.
To when i plug phone into computer via usb
to load music etc. I then noticed that it was always
the same apps & icons . The only thing they all
have in common is I had moved them to sd card
moved back to phone no more disappearing act.
Iam new to this phone also just 2 weeks so still
learning . Hope this info will be of some value
2U.
First off, I feel bad that with how much I have learned from the wonderful users of XDA my first post will not contribute back in that same manner.
I work at a certain wireless retailer and was excited to know that the Galaxy S II was going to be in stock which coincided nicely with an available upgrade. On Tuesday I purchased one and did the normal new Android phone process. Unbox, heed AT&T's warning to not text and drive, insert battery, etc. When it reached the home screen everything looked like an Android phone on first boot except the wallpaper. It was an Android on a skateboard encircled by an arrow made to appear to be painted on a brick wall. The same wallpaper I used on my backflip running a ROM posted by J-Rod. I will point out we have nothad any returns.
I showed it to the rep that was ringing me out and my GF who was with, then removed the wallpaper and set a default background. When I went to change it back the CM based wallpaper was not an option and no where to be found using (limited?) default file explorer.
I have not had time to look further due to school but was wondering if anyone had this happen to them (Nothing turned up with Google and XDA's search). Or know if that logo/wallpaper is not related to CM and I should just ignore the fact that it was on my phone? I started watching unboxing videos and only ever saw a SGS2 with a blue background.
I just do not like thinking that someone messed with the phone before it was even sold. Though I do like the phone and will be a nice change from the iPhone 4 that was my daily driver for the past year.
Your wallpaper was saved to your google account, and when you signed in with it in the initial setup it loaded your wallpaper.

lol, I never even thought of that. Thanks for clearing it up!
I hope someone can suggest some ideas. I've been trying for months to get the alarm notifications to work on my Verizon S3. I've spent hours and hours for month after month looking at the forums, and have not been able to fix it- I really, really would like to get this to work!
The problem is, I never get alarm reminders for either:
- time to leave/traffic alerts when I have upcoming appointments
- reminders based on location
I've tried everything I know of in the book- I need an expert to please help me get this working!!! Either I'm doing something really stupid and missing something, I have some setting(s) wrong, or Google Now is somehow broken for me. Sorry for the frustration...
I'm running a Verizon S3, with 4.2.1 and recently I rooted the phone (the notifications have not worked since before nor after the rooting- I did it for other reasons).
PLEASE HELP!!!
Please- any suggestions? I'm willing to start at the basics (in case I missed something) all the way to the complex. I really could use some advise on getting the alarms to work on Google Now notifications...
I've had the same thing happening for about 2 months now (from August 2013), and even with factory wipes and firmware flashes it hasn't come back to me. :/ It's worked once or twice but I haven't figured out if I had done anything before hand to get it back. Then afterwards it stopped working again.
Same for me yet. I've hard reset both my S3 and my Nexus 7, and not luck. Rarely do I get any notices, and if I happen to, it's not at the right time. Must be on Google's end on my account or something. Very, very disappointing, with little hope if it's not specific to the device...
Me too! Try this....

Also happening to me on my Note 3 t-mobile. I have flashed many roms. I even reverted back to stock, and did an OTA update to 4.4.2 and so forth.
The only thing that made a difference was if I sign in to Google Now using my backup Google account, then IT WORKS! So I think that Google is having problems on the back end. There is absolutely no difference between my Google accounts. Why would one work and one not work? I've been posting it all over the web and Google tech support. You should too!
Solution Found
I found a solution to the problem. After being a die-hard advocate for Android, I gave up about 6 months ago and bought an iPhone. It works wonderfully, and does everything it's supposed to, when and where it is supposed to. Reception and voice recognition are better than my S3 was too. I've given up a few things (customization, screen size, etc.), but I finally have a phone that just works. I can add apps, delete them, change settings, etc., and things don't get screwed up; and I don't have to hard reset and start over with my phone again. Plus, most of the Google apps are available on the iphone, including Google Now.
I may look at Android again when version 5.0 comes out; but even with that, if it's my account that's messed up, I doubt I will ever get it fixed...
I really liked Android, but I finally got soooo tired of having to spend so much time getting it to work...
Google now reminders not working possible solution
Okay so I purchased a phone LG G Flex unlocked from T-mobile and using on Metro PCS two weeks ago, prior to this phone I had a Note 3 and used Google Now to set remianders with no problems. When I activated my FLEX and started using google now it did not remind me, i could see the reminders on google cards but no notification and or finger with string in the notification bar to actually remind me. I was really bummed and fustrated as I depend on the reminder function alot. Not having any luck getting Google Now remainders to work I started searching for other apps simular to it, just something to remind me. But funny enough all the others application I found on the app store would do the same thing NO reminders, so I started thinking it may not actually be Google Now but something on my phone. I finally found an application called Robin that did work but gave me my reminders about 2 or three mins before or after the set time, nevertheless it was working but early or late notifications still bothered me. So i decided to turn off the automatic time zone/Network provider time and Automatic date and time/Network provided time and that did the trick for me. I started up Google Now and set like a hundred reminders to test it and they all came in on time. I dont know if the phone being unlocked and used on another network made the network time buggy but as long as I keep the automatic date and time off it works well. I dont know if this is the solution for everyone but it was for me. hope this help.
Fantastic and detailed reply- thanks!
I also switched phones, now I'm on a LG G3 (love the phone)! I seem to be getting almost all of my notifications now, but I'll try to pay a little more attention to it, and keep your suggestion in mind if I'm having any troubles. Thanks again for the information!

Can Google now show reminders while offline? I know I cant set or delete a reminder offline. But can it remind for an already set reminder offline?
