Hi i am new to this, i am currently using bionix (rom) running kernel version 2.6.29 build # Eclair.UVJI6. i want to pretty much get the new Samsung Vibrant Root with Eugene373 Vibrant8 JAC 1.2ghz /no lagfix. i am scared of doing anything to it because of the fear of bricking this phone... can any1 please be so kind and help me out in this also need to know where i can download eugene373 v8. i will def return the favor for other people once i become better at rooting. Thank you and merry xmas
Just download the app "one click lag fix" from the market, then click in unroot this device. There's other methods out there too but this is the easiest and safest way to do it.
on a Samsung Galaxy S.

Hey everyone how's it going? I've been out of the rooting scene for while because I've been in South Korea and haven't rooted since my G1
My question is:
Is it better to get the Archos 101 and then root it with the 2.1 eclair then get the OTA (if it's possible with root), or should I do the OTA for Froyo first, then root it? I heard you have to also mess with setCPU when you get Froyo as well because they set the speed to 800mHz which is a bit slow. I searched and couldn't find it. I've been on the G1 section of XDA for a while, so nice to be here! Take care!
You really should improve your search abilities.
1. The rooting in Eclair and Froyo are different and because there is no permanent root for the stock Android you have to use the version specific to your installed Android.
2. If you want the "real" thing, go into the http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=877 forum and install Uruk.
3. In std Froyo there is allready a setting for the 1Ghz. Don't belive old rumors.
or you get froyo and permanent root with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197
Hi,
Please forgive my ignorace, if any... spent weeks browsing through forums and still have some questions. Hope you guys will tell "yes" or "no" for some of them here..
My device tells the following:
model: SGH-T959
firmware: 2.2
baseband: T959UVKA6
kernel: 2.6.32.9
build: FROYO.UVKA6Was locked to T-Mobile and rooted; both gone now, though I had to try numerous ways to do it.
Now I consider installing teamwhiskey's Bionix, but I'm afraid to unroot and/or lock the device again.
Is the procedure described here (first post) safe for the phone in terms of unrooting/locking it ? I mean - can it "undo" the rooting/unlocking ? It was a such a painful and nervous experience to root/unlock it...
Am I right assuming that this procedure is mandatory as a prerequisite for Bionix installation, since it makes clockwork run on KA6 ?
Also, I know that bricking is not impossible, but talking about procedures incurred with Bionix installation... how safe are they ? Do they work with sensitive system components like bootloader etc ?
Every idea is appreciated =)
Thanks a lot ))
**First off let me apologize if this a double post, or if im posting in the wrong area, I tried looking around and xda does not have the "Samsung Prevail" in the listed devices for forum support. If there is an appropiate place for this post please move it there, thanks and sorry for the inconvience mods/admins.**
I'm hoping maybe someone can help me. I recently rooted my prevail and now looking to flash custom rom. I have rom manager all set up, got a custom boot ready, and backed up system to SD only problem is i dont know what custom rom will work with the prevail. I'm hoping there some way shape or form I can get cm7 running though since the prevail is still new it has not gotten offical cyanogen support. My prevail is running a froyo build so I was thinking maybe I can get a stable cm7 froyo build on here with the custom boot going. If I can't get cm7 I'll be happy with shabbymod on it. Any thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? or links will be greatly apprecaited. thanks. heres my phone specs if they will help:
Model Number: SPH-M820-BST
Android Ver. 2.2.2
Baseband Ver. S:M820.07 x.EE14
Kernel Ver. 2.6.32.9
Build Number: FROYO.EE14
Hardware Ver. M820.07
No answer for this yet? And why doesn't the forums have a section for this phone?
Hello , Xda Community.
I currently have a T-mobile Samsung SGH- T959.
I rooted it using Superoneclick. I Had odin back to stock , then upgraded to 2.2 then rooted.
Now my issue with Clockwork is that I CANT get into the recovery and I keep getting a "privledge error" Its been two days of troubleshooting now im asking for help. Even when I try to fix permissions. I really want to load some Roms , I really miss my Voodoo Sounds. Sounded great coming through my Dr.Dre beats.
Currently:
Firmware : 2.2
Baseband : KB5
Kernel : 2.6.32.9
Build: Froyo.
Another Question , Is it posibble for me to gave 2.3 ? I would really aprreciate the communities help on this.
Sincerely , Ethan.
Hey everyone,
I have recently received a Galaxy Gio 2.2 Froyo from a Chinese roommate who moved out (for free no less -- and it actually was a gift), though I am having some significant troubles trying to tap into its fullest potential.
Basics of the phone:
- Galaxy Gio (China)
- Model GT-S5660
- 2.2.1 Froyo
- 2S5660ZCKG1 Baseband
- 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1 kernel (after attempting to root and I'm kind of somewhat pretty sure that's not a root-accessible kernel... if that makes sense =/)
- China Mobile SIM with no service, but I do have wi-fi access
Other possibly important data:
- I do have another, unrooted Android phone
- I do not own a Windows computer and run exclusively on Mac OSX 10.7.5 and Ubuntu Live CDs
Process of how I dealt with things:
Even though I can't read Chinese worth a &[email protected]!, I knew enough about maneuvering the settings to change the language to English.
I tried to root it with instructions I found and the kernel never changed. I proceeded to factory reset the phone (stumble my way through settings to change the language again), and then tried a different set of instructions on rooting a Gio with Froyo with the same results.
From this point, I've thought about trying to a find a terminal or rootchecker-type app, but haven't been able to since the phone doesn't have Google Play, but some kind of (Chinese? >.>) App Market.
Ultimately, I'm seriously wanting to root this baby so that I can get a gingerbread or jellybean ROM on it and have some real fun, but have been at a real roadblock with this and would appreciate any help.
Thank you all,
DJ
I figure I should bump this up since it's now buried 8 pages back on me in the 2 days since I originally posted
Again, though, any help someone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
DJ
i only know that if u want to root galaxy gio with froyo,u have to use SuperOneClick app on windows (dont know about linux -,-)..
and AFAIK if u want to upgrade it to gingerbread u dont have to root it first, just upgrade it..
after u get ur gio on gingerbread it comes more easy to do anything to ur devices..
sorry for my bad English..
