[Q] wifi stuck on 'obtaining ip address' - white streak - Streak 5 Android Development

Howdy folks,
My white streak (Steves 1.5.1) was working perfectly till tonight, when it lost my wifi signal. It is stuck on 'obtaining ip address' and I've not been able to fix it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
O2bwln

Power cycle your modem. Power cycle your router. Power cycle your phone. Remove saved wifi network and then re-add it making sure that you have the correct credentials. I'm using the same ROM with no issues on wifi.

[Q] some network issues with CM7

when i finished flashing cm7 beta version on my att atrix and flashed the bell radio.
i found some issues with the network.when i connected to a wifi network, phone stuck with Obtaining IP address.... and need me to disconnect and reconnect again. and it occurs the same problem with the cellular network..i also need to disconnect and reconnect the network ,so that i can finally use 3g connection.
i wonder is it because i flashed the bell radio did not fit my att atrix??

I have a similar issue. Wi-Fi doesn't even attempt to connect to the network even when it's within range. It just says disconnected. Doesn't even let me manually reconnect it. So I have to turn the Wi-Fi off and turn it back on to have it reconnect it.
And no, I did not flash radio in long time. I have .30 Att radio.
Sent from my Atrix (CM7 beta on Crystal Theme)!
I also have the same problem, I'm using the correct radio but it just gets stuck on obtaining ip address when i turn wifi on.
I bypass this issue by using wifi manager as it forces the wifi to scan when you open it.
I have the widget on my home screen too for convenience.
I am having a similar connection problem with my wifi, when going from home to office and back my CM7 Atrix cannot connect to wifi because it says it is out of range. Each day I have to forget the wifi network and then rescan and then I can reconnect.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Same problem here. Any resolutions yet?

flash radio supplied for your device, if yours is att, find att firmware and flash the radio present in it

[Q] Unable to connect to home wifi?

It was fine until last night...
I woke up this morning to find that my atrix had lost connection with home wifi, provided by ATT.
I tried to go back on, but it failed, as if I had got the password wrong (phone says its gaining IP address, turns wifi on and off, does the same thing again)
I tried rebooting the phone, retyping the password, which were an useless attempt.
Wifi itself seems like its, fine, since my mother's phone(Captivate) is going fine with it.
I can also connect to other wifi networks,
so I cant exactly see where the problem is.
My atrix is running on ATT, 4.5.91, rooted.
Thanks for your help beforehand!

Did you try telling it to forget the connection, then set it up again?
Have you tried rebooting your modem and router?
Many connection issues are solved by a simple reboot of all hardware involved.

[Q] SGS2 wifi issues after recent update to ICS...

Hey guys,
Just updated my SGS2 to ICS (see screen shot for version details). While im still getting used to a few of the changes, i have noticed a reasonably annoying bug which is causing my wifi at home to drop out. The phone will not hold a stable connection.
I updated my phone while at work, then when i got home it did connect to my network with no hassle, but after a little while (maybe 30 mins) i noticed that i kept getting notifications that i have connected to my home network. so it seems that a connection to the home wifi network is made, then lost, then found and re-established, then lost again. I have observed the 're-connection' can be as frequent as every 30 seconds, but sometimes it will hold the signal for up to 10 minutes.
the wifi signal strength is strong, as i do sit quite close to the router.
does anyone have any similar issues to me? Anyone know of a solution?
Thanks heaps for any help.
ps: you will notice from the screen shot that i have installed Wifi Fixer from the market, this did not help stabilize my connection.
Thanks again.
hmmm
Have you tried manually setting your network values?
I was having this issue as well using my phone in DHCP mode, but when I assigned a static IP, it worked great.
On a side note, what router are you using?
Gday mate,
thanks a lot for the reply. I changed the IP setting to static, though i didnt have to assign one. does that sound right?
Anyway, it seems to have improved the stability - i havent noticed any more drop-outs. Ill keep and eye on it and let you know.
I'm pretty sure the router is a Netgear DGN-2000, but ill confirm that. We also use a WIFI booster.
Thanks again for your help mate.
Same problem I think
My phone got ICS recently. It worked no problem in my sister's flat but now in my aunt's place. Doesn't work, it will connect with the router. It will work for about a minute and that's it. No more internet but still connected. They use a booster as well and this problem of wifi connection issues is common it seems.
They only way I've found ti help the problem, forget network, clear internet cache in applications and restart the router

[Q] Strange WIFI connectivity issue...

Hey guys,
OK Ive got a strange problem with one of my Galaxy S3's!
It will not connect to some WIFI connections! It will say 'Obtaining IP address' then 'Failed to obtain IP address' and then loops itself doing the same thing over and over...?
I have two S3's and my other rooted device is fine. The one that has the problem is running a standard O2 4.3 rom (Un-rooted)
My rooted phone is also running 4.3.
Anyone experienced a similar problem? I have had this problem with 4 or 5 WIFI connections now, including my home one which is rather annoying! I have tried the obvious and rebooted my router, which hasn't helped!
Any advice welcomed!

I've had issues with the quality of my internet connection being checked, and then the connection being killed due to "slow internet connection", even on strong Wifi networks. Solution turned out to be to uncheck the automatic network switch in the advanced Wifi settings.

How so, when I have an identical phone sat right next to it with the same version of Android and that phone connects perfectly?
The only difference is one phone is rooted, the other is not (Both running 4.3, just different kernal number and build number)
Well wifi is a function of the kernel .

WiFi Problems with new Official ROM (I9205XXUCNA2)

Anyone else noticed Wifi problems with the new ROM?
It was OK for a while then noticed the next day or so it wasn't connected. I tried manually selecting the SSID but it would not connect. I tried forgetting the SSID and re-entering the password but it wouldn't connect. A reboot finally cured the problem and it was fine for another day. I haven't worked out the patern yet I'm guessing once I leave the WiFi signal area it never regains connection?

With the latest update my wifi won't even switch on.
People suggested that I should flash stock firmware, which I haven't tried yet.
I will let you know if it solved my problem once I do flash the stock firmware.
I have the wifi problem today when i update my mega, just do a factory reset and then update your mega again.
