[Q] Double SMS Notification with Handsent, music send with BT - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hello there from Greece...
I'm a happy owner of one LG P500 but there are 2 things that I can solve.
1) I install the HandcentSMS program and I turn of the notification from the native SMS app but in lockscreen. When I have an SMS which I read with Handcent,in lockscreen there is an SMS notification even if I have read this with Handcent.
I have to read this with the native sms app to disappear the lock screen notification. It's quite annoying all this....
How can I solve this?
2) I try to find an option to send songs via BT but I can't find something like this.Only with Astro File Manager I am able to send music. Is this the only solution?
Thank you in advance and a Happy New Year !!!

So:
1) This should be helpfull Remove lock screen message notification?
2) I also didn't find way how to do that by native app, but I haven't see problem in this (sending via some other app), because android doesn't have any file manager tool in android system - so it is quite normal.

[Q] SMS notification problem (without root)

I would like to share my problem with you, I own a P-500 I bought last week and much prefer to use go sms pro instead of the stock rom application, because it's just ugly. The reason that I don't want to root it is for the guaranty I don't want to lose.
The problem is that even I read my sms with Go sms pro, the notification of unread messages still appears on the lock screen. Does someone have any solution? I tried with many of launchers, the results is the same.
1st of all, rooting does not void your guaranty, only if they find out that the phone was rooted. If you root, Install original lg fw through LG update tool when you want to send your phone to guaranty & you should be fine.
I wrote already a post about notifications. You have to disable notifications in default messaging app before you install a 3rd party msg app. I have not tried it with go sms, I had the same problem with it. But that was when I disabled notifications in default msg app afteri installed go sms. Now i'm using handcent sms, disabled notifications in default msg app before i installed handcent sms. Everything is fine & nothing's duplicated. I hope this helps.
first of all thanks for the reply, I tried to make like you said but it didn't change at all notifications on lock screen continue to appear... do you know if root can make something for that?

Did you uninstall go sms before turning off norifications in default sms app? If not, try that. Uninstall Go sms, reactivate notifications in default sms app.. do a reboot, deactivate notifications in default sms app & install go sms again. Do a reboot. If that does not help, try the same with Handcent sms. I like it a lot better than go sms btw hm rooting shouldnt change anything, rooting just gives you full access to the phone, thats all.

For many people, android 2.3 solves the problem with duplicate notifications on the lockscreen. But that does not solve the problem with duplicate notifications in the notification bar.. atleast not for me, I have tried android 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.2.2 & 2.3.3, custom & original roms. Now i'm on 2.2 Void.echo rom & have no problems with notifications.
I have the same problem. Of course notifications on lock screen under big clock isn't same that notifications on status bar. I use 2.2 root stock rom. My solve this problem - uninstall stock sms app - go sms are fully functional without stock app, even mms - but notifications about sms on lock screen disappear.
Handcent sms don't have this issue.
I wrote to go sms devs, but no respond.
Yeah I uninstalled and do all the stuff... before trying with Handcent, and it works but just with Handcent and no Go sms pro. That surely means that the problem comes from go sms, so for the moment I'll use Handcent waiting for the dev find a real way to solve the problem.
Thank to you two!

[Q] new to the Evo3D, noob questions

im new to the world of android and i have a few noob questions that i was looking to get some help with. any help will be greatly appreciated.
1. how do i get custom ringtones for text messages? i can set the ringers for contacts and incoming calls but is there a way to change them for texts?
2. is there any way that i can use google voice on my phone without having to port over my sprint line. i just want to add a second line to my current phone. or does anyone know of a free voice over ip app.
thanks in advance for all help.
To get custom ringtones for text messages, go into your text messaging app, menu, settings, notifications, then notification sound. From there you can change it. If you use an app such as ringdroid, you can create your own ringtones and they will appear in the notification sound menu when you copy the file from /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones to /system/media/audio/notifications, using root explorer, etc., then reboot.
Also, you have to be rooted to access the system files using root explorer.
if you go into the notification setting that way it one gives me the choices from the ringtones that came with the phone. how do i assign rings that i download as i did for incoming calls without rooting my phone.

stop lockscreen showing new messages

i'm having a problem where if i am not using the stock sms app then even when i've read all my messages, my lockscreen is still displaying that there are new unread messages. how can i get rid of this?

Solution
Hi there,
I have same problem. I use SMS Free Sender and lockscreen counts me unreed SMS from stock SMS app. SO i downloaded System toolbox from Market and deleted system app (you have show all - NEED ROOT). Then find something like lockscreen counter or what, and there you go ;-)

[Q] A couple SMS & Email Questions..

Hey guys,
Just a couple questions regarding my SGS2 running rooted Android 2.3.5:
1) Is there a messaging app which doesn't lag as much as the stock one? Also, I'm using GoLauncher, so will it allow me to replace the icon for the stock messaging app at the bottom of the screen with an icon for an aftermarket app, and will it show notifications of new SMS on my GoLocker lock screen?
2) How can I remove SMS log from my call logs? I saw this thread but have no idea what it's talking about when it asks about DEODEXED ROMs, and I can't find any system/app file on my phone when connecting it to my PC?? Can I simply just download a file and flash it via CWM or something?
3) I use the standard Email app, which is good, but it doesn't show how many new emails I have when I put a link to the app on my home screen. Is there a way to make it show how many new emails I have?
Thanks!!
For number 3, the standard email shortcut when placed on your home screen should have the number of unread mails at the top right corner the form of a orange circle, just like messaging.
Cheers mate, anyone know the answers of the other two?
anyone? :S

To answer my own question for others to benefit, I found an app in the Market called Samsung Log Converter which fixed this problem very quickly and easily!

[Q] Kitkat issue - Duplicate SMS using 3rd party (non-default) apps

Hi everyone,
I've noticed something since I updated my phone to kitkat 4.4.2 (it's a Z1 compact).
Whenever I use another app than my default app to send SMS, eg. I'm using SMSPopup, Glowfly or event another "real" SMS app along with my default one (let's say hangouts or Handcent), I have duplicate sent SMS, that means I have twice my sent messages in my list. I didn't have this issue on JB.
I tried to tweak access/read/write permissions via AppOps but the result is still the same. I now have to use the same app for popups/Notifications and SMS. Other SMS apps are useless because they duplicate the text messages.
Does anyone has the same problem ? How can I fix this ?
Thanks a lot !

Make sure this is set correctly:
1. From your home screen, open Settings and head into “More…” under Wireless & Networks.
2. If running Android 4.4, you should see an option for “Default SMS app.”
3. Tap on that.
4. A window should appear with all apps that could be a potential SMS app.
5. Tap the one you want to use.
(This list is a copy/paste from an external link, DroidLife, which I'm not allowed to link to due to my scarce forum acitivty )
Sorry for a late answer and hope you get, or maybe you've already gotten, the issue resolved.
