Already flashed and now I can't go back to Eclair, original firmware and I want a update this with Kies, but don't work, because Kies said to me '' Don't update this device''...

I just got my phone yesterday through Hantec but they sent me a German model, so thought I would try (for the first time) to use Odin to update to the UK model.. which worked good.
I get
PDA I19100xxWKE7
Phone I9100XXKE4
CSC 19100XEUKD1
When I opened Kies though, it still showed (DBT) so I cleared the cache, did a factory reset and reflashed the KE7 firmware.
Now when I open Kies it's not showing any firmware, just says Current Firmware Version:
Is there anything I have missed in my steps?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have read the whole thread. Funny, after I reboot the phone the right firmware shows in Kies but after I disconnect and reconnect it won't show again until I reboot the phone! I think it is a Kies problem.
i have a vodafone UK SGS II, using outside UK, my firmware i 2.3.3. i want to update my phone, the problem is;
i get connected to KIES sometimes, and disconnected to KIES after some seconds but i get a notification that a new frimware is available whenever i get connected luckily
most of the time i do not get connected to KIES
please help me in updating my firmware and tell me if i can update with OFFICIAL firmware without KIES?
since i am using my phone outside UK, if i update to latest firmware, is there a risk that my phone gets locked ?
i am also using juice defender and battery dr. applications as well, i dont know whether these apps are preventing my phone from connecting to KIES , can any one help ?

Of course you can update official firmwares via Odin. But as you are sometimes getting connection with Kies, I'd advice you to re install the drivers and then try again. And make sure USB debugging is Off before connecting.
However if the problem remains then Odin is the option, and you can get official firmwares from here,

Your Baseband is KG1! Did you update via Odin before? If you updated a leaked version then Kies won't support any further update.

How can I get kies to work to update my SGS to gingerbread?
Hi I'm a noob member of this forum, but have been watching it for 3 months. With suggestions from this site, I have eventually managed to get the current version of kies (2.0.0.11014_49) to connect to my Galaxy S I9000 - at least some of the time (it's a bit hit and miss).
I have been able to sync my contacts and podcasts from my phone to my computer using kies.
I can get to the kies screen for updating firmware. BUT - this is the really frustrating part - it tells me that my firmware is up to date.
It correctly tells me that my firmware version is:
PDA-JP5 PHONEJP3 CSC-JP4(XSA) - this matches the output of the not-so-secret key-code.
From the handset, in Settings About Phone I get:
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband DTJP3
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #7
Build FROYO.DTJP5
I am aware of the post "Kies firmware update without using (all of) Kies!" by miki4242, but this doesn't apply to the latest kies. Does anyone know how to do the same thing with the current version of kies?
I'm also aware of the post "Kies 2.0 Registry Patcher 1.8.0.0, patch registry on latest Kies" by Nodial, but I'm looking to do it as simply as I can. I have not rooted my phone, and would prefer to use Samsung software (kies or part thereof) to get gingerbread. Surely it shouldn't be so hard!?!
(Or why can't we get it as a download direct to the phone from samsung or the market?)
PS: I tried to post this qn as a new thread, but the site wouldn't let me (the error msg said I couldn't paste outside links).
I never used Odin for updates however I recently updated via Kies and my current firmware is kj3, now waiting for official ICS update

Hi!
got myself brand new I9100! started to upgrade it via FOTA
did 2 updates but on the third one it install 15% and rebooted the phone
after startup i got an message that FOTA fails and need to upgrade via Kies
didnt done FACTORY RESET now try'n to upgrade via Kies...
for some reason on my main computer the upgrade via Kies fails at 10% download.
in my laptop connecting to other Wifi network and Kies is downloading the
firmware (...44%) tells me that "there is somthing wrong with the file would you like to try downloading it again?"
what can be wrong with FOTA & Kies?
Use Odin, Kies dont normaly work =) You not the first with this problem
ok done with Kies it installed me the 2.3.4 and says that is the latest one...
:\ thoght the latest was the 2.3.5 how come?
by the way if i flash throgh Odin 2.3.5 i'll still get OTA updates right?

I bring the firmware 2.3 and 2.2 for YP-G70, I do not know to whom to allocate the credits because I got the information on a Japanese site, but I did my test and the two worked.
so I know the 2.3.5 firmware is available from samsfirmware.

1. Unzip the downloaded file
2. Place the apparatus in Download mode (press the lock button + volume down + Home at the same time)
3. Open Odin
4. Click PDA and add the new firmware file in the case the file .md5
5. Connect the USB phone in and wait for the Odin recognize
6. Click Start and wait
7. Ready!
Procedure at your own risk!

if not then you had better state it before someone screws up their usa model.
Most regions should by now have access to the official 2.3.5 update.
If you're like me just got your device and you had it delivered with 2.2.2. Check kies. There might be an update available.
1. Download kies from samsungs website.
2. Press menu->Settings ->Wireless & Network ->USB-settings ->Check: Samsung Kies.
3. Press menu->Settings -> Apps -> Develop -> Unckeck: USB.
4. Start kies on the pc
5. Connect the usb cable.. and relax for a bit and wait and see what kies says.
For anyone wondering, i bought my device in sweden and it was delivered with:

Here in Brazil has not updated the kies, so I do the same as Odin is not the official one.
radx you can backup your firmware and make available for download?
Sorry I dont know how to do that.
I believe there is an option in Odin before you flash a rom look otherwise a "dump" or backup button. Always a good idea before flashing any thing. It allows you back to a factory returnable state.

You could flash rjs kernel in Odin and that would install ClockworkMod. From there you can do a nandroid backup. Well i think that's how it works.

Hi guys
I have buy a Galaxy Grand 2, I dont know where is it from, maybe from china.
I tried to upgrade firmware via: Setting -> About Phone -> Update. When downloaded the firmware my phone ask reboot. When upgrade progessing is 26% my phone alert upgrade error and reboot, after reboot my phone show another alert "Upgrade error, and try update via Kies", I try to connect to Kies 3 and Smart switch, I have saw my phone on that but dont see any update for my phone.

CSC: G7102OJV****
I just downloaded an update G7102XWUBNI2_G7102OLBBNI2_XXV.zip from sammobile, I dont know I can upgrade this firmware for my phone.

You can update manually using firmware from sammobile. Download a firmware based on your country phone. For the instruction of installing.. you can see it on google.
