I don't think you should be messing with gapps... others like the file manager, launcher pro (free) titanium backup (free) etc (if you have alternatives or the paid versions, or i would suggest you leave them as is, as they are very useful apps )can be removed safely...
I have removed
-Car home
-Launcher pro
-Titanium Backup
-File manager (using ghost commander)
other apps i've left them
Do a backup with xrec with the default settings and try removing various apps and test for yourself, if anything goes wrong you can always recover the backed up version

I just think he wants to do a full install and remove the unused apps... maybe he uses market and nothing else (navigation, street view, places etc) so he wants to know if the phone will be stable after removing those apps... so let's stick to advising him on what to remove...

You right they have different names, is it a system app or is it located in /data/app so you can uninstall it in phone settings?

[HELP] Stock SystemUI and Framework?

Hi,
I was following hansip87's tutorials at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426912
When doing step 5 (installing the battery % mod), after flashing through CWM, I got bootloops at the Sony Ericsson screen. I think this has to do with mixing and matching SystemUI with a different framework or something.
Does anyone have a .zip that will help restore both SystemUI and framework back to stock? I'm on the stock GB ROM.
Or alternatively does anyone know of a fix?
Thanks!!

Thanks for the quick reply!
Do you suppose I will run into any other problems when doing this or does it just restore the systemui and framework from the nandroid?

thats ok. it should just restore your system and shouldn't affect anything else.

Awesome. Worked like a charm! Thanks a million again.
Out of interest, is it possible/difficult to make something like this for the Ray? I think it would be useful to have seeing as how a lot of the mods seem to mess up when they're incorrectly used in conjunction.
That's ok again
Have you tried downloading that .zip and try replacing the apks from your Rom into the .zip?

I haven't tried, but I've thought about it. I just figured I might run into some problems with file permissions or something (I really don't know much about how Android systems work, but I'm trying to learn!)

Which device do you have ? The Mini or the Mini Pro ?
What I know is that you can use Suquasinputmethod with the mini pro, It could work too on mini, to confirm. It can be found on any GB rom in the right forum.
But you have to know that there is a bug with the symbols panel, it hang if totally slide up or down. To free it, you'll have to turn the device in landscape then back in portrait.

i found the suquashilinputmethod.apk keyboard and tried all these:
1> moving it to sd-card and giving all the permisions (with root explorer pro), tried installing but failed.
2> moving it to system/app folder giving perimisions again but failed
3> converting the ftf rom to flashable zip rom and adding the suquashilinputmethod.apk to system/app, then flashing the rom and stuck in logo-loop.
why anyone else says nothing about this keyboard? this is the only keyboard that is user-friendly! all other keyboards are just TOO difficult to type! its a 2.55 inch display!

Flash SEMC Debrand Engine again, put the .apk on your sd-card and doubleclick it in root-explorer, it will install itself. Then go to Language and Keyboards and select Default Input as your keyboard of choice.

i tried to install it by simple clicking it just once. then pressed OK and started installing it but at the end it says: aplication not installed. is there a difference between double - simple clicking it?

No, there's no difference I'm just used to double-clicking everything... Can't say for sure why it doesn't work on SEMC, it tends to work on every other ROM.
