I had installed nfs shift on my galaxy 3 but nearly everything appears white...someone plz help...
dude i have the samsung galaxy 3 n the same thing happened not only to NFS but to most other games like FIFA n Ragin thunder.....I upgraded it to android 2.2 froyo n it still doesnt work .........but on the new galaxy 551 it works perfectly which costs the same should have waited n bought that
r u sure it works on i551....how much ram does it has..
I don't even think the graphics chip can cope with that...
I have seen comments with NFS Shift working great on Galaxy 5. Is that true?
Please read the comments, it is crashing on all galaxy s devices, also the tab, and look at the screenshot, it definitely needs a powefull handset to render those HQ 3d graphics. Don't raven think about tuning this beast on a entry class device like g3.

Sorry to say but NFS shift is working fine on Galaxy S I9000 with Android 2.1. I have seen comments and screenshots on different forum with NFS Shift working on Android 2.2.
Could the resolution 240*400 in galaxy 3 make difference as galaxy s has 400*840 and galaxy 5 has 240*320 resolution?
Hmm, just checked the comments in market, and there was only negative ones for the sgs, maybe it does not run on 2.2 firmwares
It does work pretty well on galaxy 5, because g5 has a decent qualcomm chip (like htc legend, optimus one)
galaxy 3 and the new released galaxy 551 both have samsung s5p chip that sucks bigtime in 3d graphics, both because of lack of hardware and also lack of interest from sammy in developing good 3d drivers for it...
It doesn't work on SGS as well
Well, NFS Shift was supposed to my first paid game on my Samsung Galaxy S running Froyo, but looks like its gonna be a disaster. I bought it from the Android app market for India, but after downloading and installing the 98MB software it just hangs!
All I can see is the EA Splash screen and music in the background and after a while, it just dies down.
Do not buy this!
Im not tqlkin qbout the galaxy 5 but the newly released galaxy551.its specs are xactly same as the galaxy 3.plus im not talkin about the hd version but the lesser version which is the same but not hd.
To all the others i said that it wprks.on the newly released samsung galaxy 551 not the galaxy 5....the 551 hase the same specs as tge g3 only it has a physical qwerty
Hi
How did you installed the game?
It's huge (98 MB).
I think there is not enough space on the phone to install that?
The game have ~5MB, rest is downloaded from their servers to SDCard
We can't run Shift on our SG3, because our hardware doesn't support OpenGL ES 2.0 extensions.
Iv'e tryed also Brothers In Arms, and Modern Combat: Sandstorm. The scaling to low-res was great, but all is in white colors.
If someone want, here's a link to our Polish Android forum, where we are describing what games can run on our SG3. Use a translator
If something is not readable(because of translator), but you want to know something just PM me

i saw that video on youtube too, maybe there is way to put drivers from 551 to G3.
yes search for it youtube ... nfs shift on galaxy 5
NFS Shift works perfectly on my Galaxy 551! I guess since the specs are same as Galaxy i5801, it should work on that too. I think you need to install the 40 mb version of NFS shift. The 98 mb version may be applicable to high end processors like 1ghz.

can you provide the link for 40MB NFS?
i hav tried 40mb version on jpf.. it does nt wrk..
NFS shift, doesn't work on Galaxy 3.
Tried with kyrillos rom v9.3 Overclocked CPU and chainfire 3d.
Even in a thread, I read that galaxy y can run nfs shift with Chainfire 3d, why not Galaxy 3? They both has same GPU.

Hey all,
Why is the SGS2 being shunned from running games?
I understand (although disagree) with the whole Tegra thing, but now Gameloft's Asphalt 6 and Nova 2 won't run on it either???
Is it the Exynos?

Yes,it is the Exynos.And more specifically,its GPU,the Mali MP400.
Although said games play on the SGS2,they aren't available for it through the market until now.You can download them from Gameloft's site at any time.If you already have bought them from the market, you can send an email to Gameloft support with the receipt and they will let you download it from their server on your GS2.
The Mali supports only the standard texture compression format of OpenGL ES 2.0.Every company though(Qualcomm,NVidia and PowerVR) has their own compression format. That is easily overcome with Chainfire3D though.
How easy to use is chainfire 3d, I really liked the look of nova 2, but if it's complicated or risky will give it a miss, if not I'll have a go.

I think use cm7 for better playing angrybird than many ROM.
Yup, angry birds is pretty laggy on this device. Didn't notice any difference when I moved from Froyo->Gingerbread, clearing RAM etc. makes no difference.
The gaming performance of the Ace is woeful. Thankfully I still have my iPod Touch
even in iphone there still lag..but not that same on ace..
but if you go to cm7.1 then installing the apps at internal not on sd..
makes you satisfy gaming angry bird^^

Hey!
I use GinerReal-Ace-V.1.3.0-KPO, V6_SuperCharger script(option 6) and used the NEW "Jupa Engine R2.1.0", from HERE. The Angry Birds is running REALLY SMOOTHLY!

My experience is different I have to say. On my iPod touch 4G, with half the RAM of an iPhone 4, Angry Birds is totally smooth. So is Dead Space, Modern Combat 2, NOVA 2, Shadowgun, Real Racing 2, Asphalt 6 etc. etc.
The Ace just isn't for gaming - low res screen, not much RAM, weak processor, weak GPU. An iPod touch 4G 8gb smokes it completely for half the price (and comes with 4x the storage).

Hey!
Maybe, but like I sayed, just tune your ACE right(install right ROM and in good kernel and some tweaks) and the games is running WELL!
CHEERS!
playing angry birds on galaxy ace with cyanogenmod is smooth. iOS devices are different. there are very little devices so the phones are more optimised. try running android on iphone. it lags like @#[email protected] because it is not optimised. android phones are not as optimised as iphones. if google were to work with samsung to optimise the galaxy ace then maybe angry birds wont lag.

You must realise of course that isn't going to happen. Samsung and Google are thinking about the *next* device they're going to sell you. I have serious doubts that the Ace will even receive any more firmware updates after next summer. The lifecycle of a device like this is max two years.
So the point still stands really - if you like to play games on your mobile device, then be aware that the Galaxy Ace, as shipped, can't even handle Angry Birds without lagging. Unless of course you can be bothered to flash a whole bunch of ROMs etc. etc. and then you might be able to play a simple side-scrolling 2D game with about 20 moving objects on screen at once.

CM7 for smooth gameplay, true
Was on engadget today and saw that rockstar is going to release GTA 3 for the following devices.
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation
Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive
Think we have a shot or not enough power?
We definitely don't have enough power because we can barely run any of the higher end games (shadowgun) I'm sure that well be able to get it running, but probably terribly. Also this game doesn't even have that great of graphics... just bad optimization

Shadowgun runs fine for me on one of the later nightlies overclocked to 1.2ghz. I also have GangStar running with no issues to.

GT racing, Asphalt 6, Modern Combat 2, Sacred Odyssey all run great for me. That being said with Gameloft already having Gangstar (which runs great BTW) there isn't much need for an actual GTA. GTA3 might be worth it if there was a way to put the Real GTA mod on it.
fine, fine maybe shadowgun was a bad example but what about 9mm, riptide, fast five, dungeon defenders, etc. those don't even force you to have a dual core device... remember we're pushing 1024x600(thats 614,400) pixels of 3D on old hardware... also I'm not so sure about the definition of "it runs fine" these days. Some people seem to convince themselves that things run great when they're not (myself included)

How did you get the crosshair in the middle, the damage indication, and the dragable looking area to fill the whole screen??? I've tried tons of different versions to no avail I've even looked at your thread and used the version listed to no avail. thanks in advance
yea gangstar makes gta3 look kind of dated.
I did notice a bunch of slowdowns trying high quality games on my Nook however a second later I noticed I was running on the conservative governor and facepalmed myself.
Switched to performance governor and everything was a breeze...
One way or another, we won't know until it's released, right?
I wouldn't be surprised if it runs. The NC is a little gem. That said, how is it going to playable on a touchscreen? And... an honest question... is GTA III really that fun? I just picked it up in a steam pack and it didn't take too long for me to move onto Vice City (and then stop playing that a little while later). It'll probably be more impressive to run on a phone/tablet but it felt like an early tech demo compared to a lot of "modern" games.

The entire screen is bound to controls, take a look at the picture of it on engadget... its a little overwhelming
Touchscreen controls urgh...
I still pair a PS3 Controller via Bluetooth every time I play PS1 / N64 games on my Nook... I really hope they add Bluetooth Controller support to the game.
Yeah, having real controller support would be nice. I did see the screenshots, and it's just really hard to play games with a virtual d-pad and even just *two* buttons (to me), let alone 6 or 8, especially when it includes what are supposed to be shoulder buttons.
On a side note, I mucked around a little with the onlive app, and that suffers from the same thing (the virtual controls). That said, OnLive does have newer, more compelling games, although it requires a constant, good data connection.
Nook Color seems to me to be able to push Dreamcast level graphics at 1024x600. Most games with that level of graphics seem to run at around 20-30fps at best.
The main reason GTA3 is so much more demanding than seems reasonable is that it's a sandbox game with a large, open world. It's not all that much different than say Elder Scrolls.
Game is out now and market says it should work on the NC. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rockstar.gta3 Anyone got it to work?
It hangs Nook dead rght after intro movies. CM 7.1.0 Stable.
With chainfire nvidia plugin, screen stays black upon launching the app
soooo I take it as a no go. Darn. Well it works on my electrify but as stated earlier the controls take up way to much room. I'll try a wiimote I guess.
Anyone have any luck getting this to run? Would think it would be possible to and to control it with a PS3 controller connected via bluetooth.
Got it to work! Download GTA 3 version 1.1, use chainfire 3D and set default plugin to POWERVR, awful cellphone video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKN9QRGq09E
EDIT: Will test more in the morning, jump to 1:00 to see 30 seconds of "gameplay" before I flip the car
why do we have to use the powervr plugin? nook color actually has a powervr gpu
I didnt need any plug in. I installed CM7 last night and gta was in "my apps" and it runs better than on my shift. Lol

So I got the galaxy note yesterday and as a longtime iPhone user I'm trying my best to get acclimated to the whole android experience. I've tried getting 2 games from the android market that both said on the website they were compatible with my device, modern combat 3 and shadowgun. Neither game will work on my phone. MC3 just states not compatible and closes, shadowgun goes to a purple screen and freezes.
There are several other games I want to get but this has scared me off of spending any money in the market until I know if its my device or not. Is there something extra I need to be doing to get these to run?
There's a thread how to do this in general

Good evening ladies and gents.
I'm about to jump off the fence and buy a new phone (and since I'm posting here I guess you've figured that I'm seriously considering the S3). But before I choose I want to know which games I can expect to be able to play. I stumbled onto the Tegra Zone a few months after I bought my Desire HD and was quite disappointed that it didn't support the content. I know the S3 doesn't have Tegra but stil a lot of the games are still supported/available.
I've now read through dozens of threads but I'm unable to find out how one figures out which games the S3 can run. In some cases I see thats it's just the "ultra high" setting that isn't supported (1. is this correct?). 2. Is there a different version of most games that are meant for non-Tegra devices or is it the exact game but some of which lack the highest graphics settings? Lastly: 3. Are there any games that S3 owners won't be able to play in the foreseeable future?
I would really appreciate input to any of my questions. Have a good day/night
It runs Mali-400 games and if you decide to Root just install Chainfire 3D and you can run most Tegra and any other games.
Gaming is very good. Thats all i have to say
Sorry i couldnt be of more help.
Have u tried looking on the playstore? With a friends phone or on the web page. Google searched? There is a thread about good ganes in the s3

S3 can play anything but Tegra3 Specific games, there is an app made by Chainfire it's called "Chainfire3D" where it emulates all different graphic chips in the market, so basically you can play all non-tegra and tegra games that aren't Tegra3 specifc as mentioned above. The app needs root in order to work. Dead trigger is the latest game to come out and it plays VERY nice and smooth. Shadowgun tegra2 version works, Pinball THD, Fruit Ninja THD, NBA Jam works nice PES2011, Blood and Glory work pretty well... I'm not much into gaming, those are the games I own, and I can say they are the ones that will hammer the CPU and GPU pretty good. I'm not sure what you mean with "ultra high settings" everything works. remember that the screen size is 1280x800 so some games that are made for smaller screen will have black bars or some cropping or some weird behavior, but I've only seen that on "time killer" games, can't recall which game was that showed this behavior, but still playable.
Hope that straight things out a bit for you.
Chain fire helps with some tegra games but it's not perfect eg sonic 4 ep 2 lags like treacle and some tegra games don't work at all. However the graphics hardware in the gs3 is the fastest in the world for a smartphone so there's a lot of potential. But tbh gaming without hardware buttons is pretty crap anyway.

Thank you all for your replies.
I had already read through the post you mentioned slking1989 but even though it assured me that a lot of quality games are supported it didn't give me a definite answer regarding how to determine beforehand if a game will run or not (like "system requirements" or similar). I'm guessing the reason HQ games doesn't show up in the Play store on my current phone is that it doesn't support themn thus it's no points showing them but since I don't have the phone yet I wanted to do some research.
My choice is between the S3 and the HOX but after your replies the S3 was pushed further ahead in the race (only kept back by the insecurity around Tegra games really). Now I just have to decide which color to get.
This may help u decide
