I syncronize my contacts from google and the contacts on the phone (pc suite)
The phone joined google and pc suite contacts in one and for split them i have to do one at one. The problem is that i can't show only google or pc suite contacts because they are joined, for do that i have to split them one at one.
And else:
If i have the number saved on the sim, the program on messages shows the sim contact and so no full name, no photo ecc...is all of that normal?

Maybe my wnglish was bad..i have no problem for a backup of contacts or photos.
I have 60 contacts, i exported them on a .vcf file, and i have them also on my google contacts. I reset the phone -> syncronize contacts all ok. Now if i import my vcf file as pc suite contacts the phone joins google contacts to google contact without asking. In this situation i cant on contact setting show google contacts or pc suite contacts because they are joined, and if i want to split them i have to do this contact at contact. Is this normal? There isn't a mode for split all contacts in one time?

Well, what I know, yes. You have to that manually, what I know. I had similar problem. But you can export contacts from google account into cvs, edit them and upload it again. In my case was My Phone Explorer great helper.
Also don't forget enable/disable synchronization of contacts during changes... it saves your nerves.

Yes, this is really stupid. Just download app Contact2SIM. Get all numbers from sim into phone (if you are not sure, that you have all contacts from sim in phone) and after that remove all SIM cotacts. Then you can store contacts on SIM again. This helps to me. After that, contacts from SIM is not listed and not used anymore, but they are stored anyway.

The majority of my contacts are phone contacts, is there anyway I can convert them to Google contacts so they sync with Google?
I had this dilemma yesterday. I'm hope you have Outlook. what you can do is sync you contacts with the HTC sync with outlook. then save your contacts by exporting them to CSV file. You can then import this phone to your web gmail account. Delete all your phone contacts and then sync your Google contacts by going to settings > data sync > Google > menu > sync now. I hope this helps
Damn, I don't have Outlook, there must be another way surely...
The only other way is to save to SIM and then import it from the SIM card. Only thing bad about that is that any facebook link will be lost mate.
Use ExportContacts, edit (if needed) the *.csv file to fit Google's importing rules (check this topic for reference), import the file to Google Contacts via PC and synchronize.
Or search for ContactSync in the market that will convert your phone contacts to Google ones. but try this if the above method does not work.

I would trully NOT recommend that. I've tried it and as it may have seen, all the contacts have been converted do "Google" type, but non of them actually synced with Google Contacts. At least that's what happened on my Hero.

I got the same results. They tried to sync, but I got a force close-msg. Had to delete all the changed contacts for it to work again
Question: How do you actually know which contacts are Google ones and which are not. In my virtually all my contacts are Google ones but there are the odd ones that are phone contacts and I'm trying to find them so I can convert them.
when you look in people they say what they are to the right of the name......
use 'Export Contacts" (contacts, contacts tab, menu, more, import/export) to send the file to your sd card as a vcf file. then go back to the same place and import them into a google account instead of phone.
What i did is, i exported my contacts on Outlook, and then went my google page > contacts > Import contacts.
I imported the file, and deleted all my contacts on phone.
Now im syncing my google contacts to phone
I am having trouble syncing my contacts that I inputed on my Atrix to Gmail. Even if the contact is Linked to both Phone and Google, none of the contacts show up on Gmail from my computer, but if I add a contact from my computer, it shows up on my phone. How can I sync from my phone to Gmail? btw, this is my first Android device.
Thanks.
I have exactly the same issue and it's driving me nuts! Creating a new contact on the phone adds it to the "Contacts" group but there doesn't seem to be a way to get that to sync with google/gmail. Have you found a way around this?
Ok, my phone auto syncs it with contacts and gmail, but I think I know why yours isn't.
Open the contact and verify that it has a linked profile to your google account. If it does not, then link it.
If it does, go to settings > accounts > gmail account
Hit the menu button and sync. Log into your gmail account on the desktop version, not mobile version, hit contacts, click all contacts and verify.

If I create a brand new contact I can't link it to gmail because the contact does not exist in gmail. Your method only works if I have the contact in gmail/google also.
Anyone solve this yet? I'm dealing with 150 contacts or so that were imported from a sim card and trying to figure out how to get them into gmail.
I think I might be able to do export all contacts to a file, then email it to myself, then import all contacts to gmail but I'm trying to avoid CSV errors.
thunderbolt
I am having the same issue in my thunderbolt. I just rooted it and when I went to look for a contact that I added when I got the phone I realized it never was sent to my gmail account and now it is not synced.
Thunderbolt
Through some searching I found that the thunderbolt defaults to a "phone" contact when you enter one on the phone. You have to select it as a Google contact before you even put it in the phone. You can't change this after putting in the contact. I'm glad I found this out early enough so that I only lost one contact.
I had this issue and found how to solve it:
Open ContactsApp->Menu->More->Settings
Here each phone is a bit different but you will be able to choose how to set your new contacts, whether it will be on your phone contacts, a specific gmail account or all.
In My Motorola Atrix, it automatically saves to contacts (and cannot be removed) and if you have more than 1 gmail account it all gets mixed up there and you should add/select the right one.
Hope it helps.

Just to be clear, we are talking about viewing contacts on your Atrix and not viewing contacts on GMail on your PC. The point being that Motoblur does not push contacts from the various Social Networking accounts to your Google hosted Gmail contacts. I think you already know that but wanted to be sure. Did you try to delete your FB account on the Atrix and re-add. Also, and this should not make any difference, but I do not have the FB app installed. I find it a bit useless.
ok when i go in to edit any of my contacts on my photon it is showing google contacts then under that it shows phone contacts Unsynced. it use to never show this way on any contacts. It use to just show google contacts which is what i want to use. because the phone contacts thing shows the same as the google contacts. is there any way to get ride of all the phone contacts unsynced with out having to edit all 200+ contacts?
Also what is the difference between the two?
Also its showing the addresses twice now as well, is there any way to fix that or is that part of the google contacts/phone contacts unsynced problem?
You have some contacts saved on your phone storage, but they are not synced with your Google account and may not be there. If you have them all on your Google account also, just remove them all from the unsynced storage with a batch delete app.
If you don't have them on your Google account, go to the phone contacts and export them to your sdcard. Then import them from the sdcard into Google contacts. Now, once you're sure you have those contacts on your Google account, if you still have the "phone contacts unsynced", delete them using a batch delete app. But first make sure you have them on your Google contacts.
Let us know how it goes.
Have a nice day!
I just ended up doing a reset through the recovery option and it fixed it. Thanks for the help.

Hi,
Between two phones using Android 4.2x. Each of us has setup our own contact image. How can we sync automatically the contact picture between the two phones? For example, is it possible when we talk (or SMS), I get the contact picture of the remote person and the other person gets mine. Of course, providing that the contact picture is to be sync'ed is not yet set up.
Thanks in advance for any help.
EDIT: Must use GMail Contact sync: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/apps/vcO8lY7JERE

Hi,
Thanks but this is not what I want. The two persons live in two different continents. I don't have access to the other phone and have no intention to have our contact sync'ed. We just want our own picture contact to appear in the other person phone. For example, my photo appear in the other phone's contact list which has my name as an entry. The way Viber works.
Furthermore, we don't have Samsung Kii and we don't have Windows. Currently we do the old way, saving the picture manually, put it in the other phone, edit contact and set photo. It's OK for 1 or 2 contacts. But becomes cubersome for many contacts.
Hi all..
So I had a Google account register with my old msn email, but I decided to delete this Google account and register for a new one with Gmail, thinking that my contacts are preserved on my phone, but I switched off Sync function just in case. Somehow though, my contacts got removed from Contacts app. but they are still on the phone cause if I run the dialer app and punch in the first few numbers of any phone number that I remember, the app offers contacts suggestions, and I find the name and number of the contact I'm trying to call.
How can I get these contacts back and store them again on Contacts app?

I'd try another Contacts app like Go or exDialer and see if they show up there. If so, you should be able to export them via Vcard and then go back to the main Contact app and import it. If that doesn't work, it might be helpful to list which phone you have and on what update it's on in case there is something more specific to that phone/update that might need to be done.
