This is just re-post, but for those of you who don't use BlaY0's ROM and still want good stuff:
Allright! As there were requests to do something about the readability, I've made new battery icons...
It is now, White 10pt font, Arial, with black outer Glow -> thanks for the hint, cryshop!
Download B0.8 framework-res.apk and push it via adb...
Download B0.7 framework-res.apk file I'm feeling lazy, just push it via ADB
New White-font battery status icons!

Notes:
Inside of the battery is back to gradient, thanks to outer glow it works just as good
I assume this requires a deodexed rom, and not a stock one?
I had to replace the gradient background inside the battery with constant grey, but it still looks good.

Why?................
Because else the black text wouldn't be readable and I'd have to use white, which isn't very good while the filling is yellow...the first version I did had a white/black text depending on the filling, but the readability sucked...So I went this way...there is only 8 pixels in height in that battery....

Hmmm...I got bunch of FC after system booted...I don't know what's wrong, I can't use uot kitchen to build circle battery also. (Stock 3.15)
The way I did it should work for everyone:
extract the apk, mod png's (the original files are 8bit, compression level 5 - not sure if that's important) zip the apk, sign it (not sure if that's necessary)
I had problems with apktool so far, not being able to build an apk...

Your framework-res.apk is not deodexed, that's why it's only 2.36MB, it causes FC for me.
Also, I tried to replace my framework-res.apk(4.25MB)/res/drawable/stat_sys_battery.xml with yours but won't work.
Edit : after signing my own framework-res.apk, it causes the same FCs as your apk.
Edit 2: I made a white number version :
Too bad, I can't use it
For charging, should have more red and yellow, and less green.

OK, certainly looks pretty good, could you center the text a bit more and make those levels more smooth? I have 17 levels of fill, you only have 6.
But I definiteely like the font + it's bigger.
If you upload those frames and your framework-res.apk, I should be able to make you a good one. It also depends on what ROM you're using.
Also, could you not make the red border if the batt isn't 0%?
And btw my framework-res.apk is deodexed - i took it from BlaY0's B0.2 (Says de-odexed and no .odex files are in the system...)
edit: good idea about the occuppying the outer lines as well, and the antialiasing works good too, I'm gonna try and make my version like this..

Well I took that from the battery status I made - also if you notice it actually follows what level your battery is on during charging, so the full animation only displays when your battery is near 0%.

I did a quick job by using battery icons from stock rom. You can do it yourself with:
- Caviar Dream font.
- Outer Glow (color: Black, Blend mode:Normal)
I just feel quite lazy to creat them all over again
I see, unfortunatly I don't have such fancy options here... I'm using ulead GIF animator to create these...
But I'll see what I can do
bumping up! new version! <- check 1st post!
Nice one I'm still comparing between this and the circular mod to see which one will stay, it's great to have the choice
Thanks! I don't like the circle mod, it just seems it doesn't belong
Liking the font being white but I, personally, dislike the 10pt font. Surely 8 would fit nicely inside and still be readable?
I tried that as well, but the readability was not very good, that's why I made it bigger...try to read the file from attachment in your phone
Anyway, I'd be happy to provide the PSD file containing all layers and you can modify it
What size do you use for these pngs? I can't check that myself coz I'm away from my comp.
EDIT: Ahh, I managed to check that on my phone. Why don't you just use 48x48 pngs, put them into drawable-mdpi and let the system resize them?
Sent from my HTC Legend
canvas dimensions are 25 x 25 pixels, font I used for my mod is Arial, actually 9pt, but it uses 10 pixels with Black outer Glow and Antialiasing. For the example I used 8pt font which while configured the same takes only 8 pixels at heigth...
EDIT: 25x25 pix is native for MDPI I believe, I've noticed that circle MOD in your ROM uses HDPI dimensions... but since I took those frames from stock battery, I'm using the original size...
Just get those hdpi pngs from smooth icons and test what the result would be.

Just tried it, it didn't change the backgrounds for me. ADW is sexier imo, too ;P
I found the folder with original SE system wallpapers, I also replaced that blue one which is as a background for system things, but it did not work.. I have it still blue even the originall wallpaper is different.. the folder with original walls is in my case:
etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/homescreen/wallpaper and the blue wallpaper is semcdefault.jpg
Isn't it possible that the background files used is stored elsewhere? Also, how are the fonts defined. Can we change them or their color?
I'd like to be able to change the status bar, that dark blue is just tacky.
Yes, and many themes look aweful with this dark blue.

It is not for X10 mini, it is for Samsung...
There is an .apk file on the phone called framework.apk as far as i recall, this is the one, which contains all the image resources, including things like the title bar and properbly also the system background, so with the know-how you should be able to pull it from the phone, extract it as zip file, replace the pngs inside, repack it and push it back on the phone. The tricky part is to get your apk signed. I did this on a HTC Hero, one time it completely frooze the phone, so i had to use nandroid to recover it, so it is risky, but it should work. You need to restart the phone to apply the changes.
Search XDA for a way to sign. I remember i found a small java app which could sign apks, which was the one i used (the time it did NOT brick my phone).
But this is one of the things that definatly got a high fail-rate, so i would wait until i had a recovery image installed!

Hi everyone again,
This time I present to You HoneyComb inspired status bar icons.
185 icons, some of them are reworked from my previous theme (You can find it HERE). New battery icons, and smooth charging animation. WiFi status is a bit strange, but after a few runs You love it Hope You find them cool enough for You devices
Icons have transparent background, and they will work with all themes for SE Eclair roms, but just in some cases, like Black HTC Theme (by draco_ag) the icons are full compatible. What that mean? It means that the battery icons will update every 1%. In other themes cases the battery stat icon will be updated every 10%. This is about the xml files in framework-res.apk. Not every theme is capable to update battery icon every 1%, sorry... Please notify themes authors, maybe they consider updating.

Tutorial HOW-TO-INSTALL:
- Open framework-res.apk with 7zip
- Select "res" folder from downloaded archive, and drag him to opened 7zip window
- When prompted "Are sure You want to copy...?" select "YES"
- Close 7zip
- Push framework-res.apk to your phone

Please have in mind, that it's the only fast, and safe method. Don't try to update framework-res.apk another way, or You get a bricked phone after pushing file to system folder!
If You aren't sure how to do this please ask. Asking don't cost, and can protect from messing up Your phone!
The safest way to push framework-res.apk to Your phone is using ADB Mask Controller. When You f*ck up Your phone is always a chance to get back with this app. Please be careful, and read everything before You try to install!

do you think i still need to set the permission like this?
if ever this one is the missing link, can you help me combine your two themes... sorry for posting in your two post, =[
Purpose
I like a transparent status bar. I usually use UOT kitchen but of course that doesn't work on the NT. After a bit of a struggle I found a process that worked for me. If you, too, would like to remove the black status bar, try this out (CWM back up first!!!). It looks good!

Base files
Since I use the big Minimalistic Text homescreen clock widget (Neutra Text, font lovers) I used my Clockless as starting point (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21669132&postcount=43). I've also included a clocked version.
Clockless and Clock are mods of xecuter’s outstanding left-handed ICSbar systemui.apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21616265&postcount=35), which is itself built on revcompgeek’s systemui hack (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415075), which is in turn based on stock. If you're building your own you can use any of these systemui.apk's as base.
Process
First I turned off the wallpaper hack in ADWLauncher, without which the transparent status bar cannot work. No idea how this plays out in other launchers.
I applied Aaron M's method to the systemui.apk (http://www.lazytrap.com/?p=314):
--.png edits to statusbar_background.png and status_bar_background.png, among others
--"const/4 v5, -0x3" edits to SystemUI.apk\smali\com\android\systemui\statusbar\statusbarservice.smali.
This method alone did not work for me. I also made .png edits to statusbar_background.png and status_bar_background.png in the framework-res with no luck.
Finally I achieved success by changing the two android:background references in SystemUI.apk\res\layout\status_bar from "@drawable/statusbar_background" to "#00000000". This forced the xml to draw a transparent color instead of pointing to a .png drawable.
The resulting status bar was transparent but the icons were still in black boxes. The navigation icons were in systemui.apk and the others were in framework-res.apk. You know the drill (and if you don't google "android theming'). I've attached my icons should you want to use them.
I've attached a .zip of my framework-res and systemui-apk for your reference. If you wish to install these files, be aware a LOT of miscellaneous mods are contained within, such as:
--Snowball Mod by cfoesch
--many dividers are transparent
--string edits to remove NOOK(c) references, replacing with the word "device"
--blah blah blah blah blah. Can't remember everything.
Only use these files if you've got your current setup backed up in CWM. I take no responsibility for any damage you might do to your device by installing these mods.
For newbies
Get rooted; get Root Explorer; download the .zip of your choice to the device's SD card; navigate there in Root Explorer; long press to extract; say yes to go to /sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted; long press systemui.apk and select move; navigate to /system; mount RW; paste; long press and change permission to rw-r-r; long press to change owner and group to root; long press to move; navigate to /system/app; paste; accept the warning; reboot. Do the same with framework-res.apk except place in /system/framework instead of /system/app. Reboot. If you get a boot loop or other major problem restore using CWM.
Happy transparency,
R

No, I see the icons, just not the clock or the battery icon. But again, it's no big deal.

Completely re-done this mod based off the great status bar mod made by p3001ee
This is an ICS mod with status bar toggles and the battery changed to my custom percentage battery icons.
To install just flash in CWM. Tested on stock ICS and KA10 but should work with any.
Now four versions!
StatToggle_BlueBattery.zip - Blue battery
StatToggle_BlueBattery_BBar.zip - Blue battery plus brightness bar
StatToggle_GreyBattery.zip - Grey (desaturated) battery
StatToggle_GreyBattery_BBar.zip - Grey battery plus brightness bar
UPDATE (20th July) I have replaced the toggle icons with higher res images and the nice gradient bar.
This is the blue battery version:

So taking the great work of kahei036 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24297751&postcount=14 I have further modded the battery to blue instead of green as I use a blue theme across my XS. I also moved the numbers down which I think looks quite slick. It goes orange below 20%, red at 10% and glows red at 5% as in kahei036's original.
Screenshot:
To apply I used Root Explorer. Unzip the below and copy the framework-res.apk to your sdcard.
With Root Explorer move it to \system (you'll need to enable read/write) then change the permissions to rw-r--r--
Then move it \system\framework overwriting the one that is there (you might want to copy the original out first for backup)
Reboot and you are done!
I am using this on .67 firmware but it should work with .73 as the Android version is the same. If someone can confirm that'd be great.

Thanks for the great work
Can you please tell us how to do it ??
It's actually quite simple. All I did was pull the framework-res.apk out to my desktop and open it with 7zip. Inside is a res folder and inside that are various 'drawable' folders. The Xperia S is an XHDPI device to I pulled out the drawable-xhdpi folder and inside that are all the battery icons. The painstaking bit was manually editing every icon with GIMP
Once that is done, you just put the drawable folder back into the apk (drag and drop it back into 7zip) and then push the framework-res back to the device.
It's easy really.
I am working on the mod for ICS now. The battery is in SystemUI.apk for that but the process is mostly the same. Looks like the XML in drawable will need editing too though as standard ICS only has about 5 stages of battery images instead of 100
Updated for ICS, see the first page for details and downloads
Great!
Charging icon does not move (im now at 95% batt charging)
worked like a charm
thanks

TazOneBlue for OnlyOne HYFR B4 - UCLE2 Rom.
This is based on the 15 toggle mod done by:
wanam & lidroid, fonuza and mohan_kr in the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727 section, be sure to hits their thanks buttons as well as spanking SystemErrorOne thanks button for bringing this to OnlyOne.
I claim no credit for this mod or the additions to it other than what I have changed visually. I did this for the love of blue and due to not having time to get my blue theme done.
Disclaimer:
Use at your own risk! I claim no responsibility for any damage to your phone, marraige, pets and\or your mental state!
I have added a choco cookie font to the package along with making the toggles high light in shades of blue. There are Carbon blue smilies added to the framework for texting and best of all, a Shiny Blue Version M, White numbers, Battery for the notification area!

Issues:
06-08-2012 - This is a temporary work around for now. You just need to enable battery percentages under the display menu in system settings.
This is just temporary until I can get the .xmls edited.
The file:

The main download is now the same file too.
06-07-2012 - Battery is NOT fixed, sorry guys & gals, I'm working on it.

Very nice! Thanks.
I love mods that add functionality that I will use daily!
I did notice the blue battery percentage isn't matching the stock ICS % also displayed the top notification line.

I don't think that UOT works with ICS, but I could be wrong...?
Except for the lack of battery increments, I like the mod
Eric
UOT kitchen works for the battery mods on ICS and boot animations, but just them. I did use them for the batteries but UOT doesn't work with systemUI.apks from ICS, you have to manually do it and the first flash didn't display the batteries correctly with all 200+ icons but I know why now. I'm at school right now, will fix this this afternoon. Thanks for the feedback guys, it helps.

Updated the file in the OP, all percentages for the battery icons are now displayed correctly. Had a little brain fade last night I guess, easy fix and much better functionality now.
Here's the link for those already here:
Tazone-blue.zip updated
The OP is updated as well as stated earlier.
Enjoy!
The percentages in the updated version don't appear to match the system percentages, so maybe something went wrong with the fix? (screenshot 1)
Edit: in fact, the % on the new icon hasn't changed since I rebooted, while the system text % is decreasing at a normal rate...? (screenshot 2)
Edit2: what is the filename supposed to be for the updated version? The file at the link in the OP doesn't have a version number (v2 ?), so maybe it's still pointing to the old one?
Just flashed update. The battery percentage issue is still there

Hmm, working on mine bot that means nothing more than I got some files mixed up. I'll get on this in the morning, I still have a lab to finsh and studying for a test this week and finals next week.
My brain is a little fried right now I think it's and .xml issues as I've run into this before on certain frameworks and systemUI's but that was back in the Cognition and Perception days.
Any status on when you will push out the update to fix the battery percentages?

Working on it now, just got done with my digital comm test. My main issues is that I can't decompile the systemUI.apk on my computer, it errors out with the same error log as UOT kitchen when they try to decompile it. There are 2 .xmls that deal with how the battery is displayed but they are scrambled if you just try to extract them with 7zip, WinRAR, etc. Now that I have a little time I'll be pm ing some people to get some Q&A.
Temp work around
Ok guys and gals, this is a temporary work around for now. I removed the percentages from the icons that do display, you just need to enable battery percentages under the display menu in system settings. This is just temporary until I can get the .xmls edited.
It is a lot better functionaly though, heres's the file:
Tazone-bluetemp
The OP will reflect this too.
