I installed a few paid apps for free from a site using the .apk files. I was wondering if there was a way to update them? I have read other threads about using atrackdog, but i still will have to purchase the app from the market to update. I have already donated, i dont want to pay too lol

He said he already donated. Read before you hurl accusations. Don't assume that the only legitimate way to get a paid app is through the market.

If you shoplift a TV from walmart but leave the money sitting on the shelf are you still going to be charged with theft... yes. A site that offers paid apps for free as an apk download is not a legitimate source, donating to the dev after the fact does not then make the app legitimately acquired. And so there are consequences, such as not being able to update the apps. It's a fairly mellow statement I made, not even remotely worth bumping a nearly five month old thread.
updating apps not installed thru market (amazon) but there's a catch...
Here is the short version.
Had Amazon account.
Account was compromised.
Had to make new account. (All apps that were installed thru amazons "market" are now not listed in "my apps".)
Sooooo, is there a way to check for updates on these particular apps manually? It's a strange thing, but driving me nuts!!!
Thanks! (EVO 3D with non rooted android 2.3.4)

I have a nfs shift apk that works great on nook. Can i post it on here for others to download . Its not the one from the market. I downloaded it a while back for my vibrant. Don't recall where i downloaded it before.
Is it a paid app?
Nope do not post here dude, you will get banned.
@funkyreuben
Because yes it is a paid app so it is illegal. You can PM people who want it, but don't post in the public forums I guess. If you get caught though, thats your own business.
K wont be doing that then. I've read here n there that the one I had was free. Idk Its the app that came on a phone. I think it was a droid or something not sure.

If you could PM it to me, that'd be awesome
I would also be grateful for a working apk.
Would like to try this out as well.
Thanks!
You guys trying to get XDA sued? OP was told the app is a paid for app, not to be distributed here, and you're still blatantly wanting to share it...
If you want it that bad, google is your friend, but please don't screw up a good thing (XDA).
I was actually trying to figure out how to get an app that has been paid for but not showing in market working on nook....would love it on nook but i would like it on there the legit way like on my g2

There should be some sort of "fair use" where if you've purchased it you can install it from wherever you can find it but I'm gonna guess that most people would just do the second part and forgo the first.
I have installed applanet on my sony ericsson xperia x10 .It does work but when i wanna download something it says your item will be downloaded , but nothing.
What shuold i do.help me please !!!

And even if they did shut that down, someone else would just open up another site doing the same. Its a never ending trend.

No offense dude, i'm not taking the side of the evil pirate.
But i got my experia from my uncle, so that point is invalid.
I think we shouldn't be criticising the OP, simply because installing AppPlanet does not constitutes piracy... you can't say for sure that he is going to install paid apps...
Maybe he has problems with Google market, and is only downloading free apps... I know this sounds improbable but we can't know for sure what his intentions are...
I for one, download from AppPlanet for testing purposes before buying the app... and nothing on this world (even a ban on XDA, like someone proposed a few posts back) will make me change my mind... simply because the 15 minutes refund policy on the market is ridiculous... if your phone freezes and you have to reboot it, you're doomed...

I, for one, never criticized the op...
Simply stated that giving him the link for appplanet would probably constitute warez and I'm not putting my neck on the line for op That is all lol
regardless of the reasons you use applanet (testing apps or whatever), applanet is still warez and against xda's rules.

as previously stated applanet is a warez app, and any talk of this is prohibited on xda
I downloaded a hacked version of Deadspace onto my Nook color because it wasn't compatible in the market. Now I want to purchase it at the great price that it is, and it says that it is already purchased. It won't let me pay for it. Before you guys get all over me for a pirated app, I just want to say that I agree with you. I usually purchase an apps if possible. Unfortunately, most good games aren't compatible on the market, or gameloft for the nook color. I just want to buy the game for my rezound, and don't want to create a new account to do it. Does anyone have any advice on how to reset the purchased apps list? Let the flaming begin. Thanks
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I searched this the other day becuase I have a lot of purchased apps that are 100% useless. If I remember correctly you cannot delete them, but there is some sort of option at least in Android market (don't know about Google Play now) that allowed you to hide apps you didn't want to see any longer.
I don't believe there's a way to clear the purchased apps list. If you remove it from your device it should go away, just be sure to back it up with Titanium or another program if you do.
I'm pretty sure I have read something about "breaking the Market ties" with Titanium. I think that's what you're trying to accomplish, to make the Market not think you have purchased it before and from what I gather that's what that would do.
This is the solution:

Thanks for the good advice, and being nice about it. This is why I am proud to be a member of xda. I will try this solution when I get home, and report back. Really, thanks again to all of you who answered without giving me a bunch of attitude.

good try
im pretty sure you're not going to get any help here.
if you did in fact bought the app, you already know that you can redownload from the market (google play) without needing to repurchase the app.
Market often tells me I can't download an app (uninstalled) it considers I have it installed; sometimes even saying I've already purchased it if I haven't had said app yet... screwy

Yes it erases when you do a factory reset. The market knows if you've bought it or not and should automatically install it when you connect. If all else fails, you should have your reciept in your gmail account.
I wish they would give you a trial version just for the simple fact its so expensive. But dude, no1 is going to give you an apk of someone else's work, especially work that is a PAID app on the market.....If you really want to do that a quick google search of "SPB Shell 3d free apk" will get you what your looking for.
Since you purchased the app from the Play store and it's currently installed, I'll let you in on a little secret - Titanium Backup. If you already have the app purchased and installed, just back it up using TB to your SD card. Format all you want, then reinstall TB from the market (since it's free, the store should let you download it how many ever times you need to). Just point TB to your backup folder, then restore the launcher. Just as long as you're rooted when you install your new ROM, you'll never have to worry about downloading the app from the market again.
If you're wanting someone to give you a copy of the APK, good luck finding your ROMS and help on another forum.
Here's how you do it: you don't. Even if you're rooted, installing a launcher from the store will not un root you. It would need root permission for that, and you cash tell it no. If there is an issue email customer service. Don't ask for wares or black markets. It will get you banned, in more than one place.

No there is no such thing for android. The only way to get paid apps free is by using warez which is forbidden here and normally contain keyloggers and data miners.

2 "App Gratis" that you don't find in the market..

LIAR! Or maybe you don't understand what he's talking about....? There's definitely a few android alternatives that keep track of when apps go on sale or free (from somewhere like the Amazon App Store). Freapp, Appgratis and Droid of the Day are a few helpful solutions..

Temporarily free is not bad for devs in the iTunes store. It's very ratings driven, so introducing an app for free for a couple days, or having a one day free event gets a devs product out there and noticed and reviewed/rated by more users, bringing the app higher in the lists and made more visible in categories and search results. And then there is word-of-mouth advertising.
The Play store doesn't seem to have the ability to sort results by ratings. If I'm going to pay for an app when there are many alternatives, I want user reviews and ratings as a guide.
