When I had the greek firmware it had this option to not encode in utf8 (thus doubling the size). This is not there with nordic fw.
As said, handcent SMS is pretty damn good and far superior than the stock SMS app.

hey instead of that, im just going to use another sms app, like GO SMS or handcent they give MMS support too i think
in your OTHER thread I sent you another MMS.apk that is more what you are used to. The previous one was from Cyanogen's rom... and while you call it ugly, its what most of us are dying for *the full rom that is*
Hi,
I have been semi interested in this SMS system. Mainly because I like the idea of integrated systems with Facebook perhaps.
What do you guys use? I know there is the stock SMS but i don't know - it just doesn't appeal to me any more
Or more importantly, I would love an SMS system which could put a hidden prefix of *0# at the start of each message (and not show it that I sent it like that when viewing messages) because my network requires this stupid prefix for delivery reports.
Your suggestions would be very much appreciated
Edit: Ok skip about FB integration. Seems FB get annoyed about others using their service but happy to leech other people. Hmm..
I used Handcent SMS since forever, but now for some reason it's no longer available on the market.
I found GOSMS and am actually quite happy. I like it better than Handcent. And the themes are pretty cool, especially Machine City.

Thanks for reply Though I guess more importantly for me is the prefix idea. I don't suppose you know or heard any similar SMS program that would do this? I did add it as a feedback suggestion to these guys. No idea if it would be implemented though.
Did you delete the stock SMS?

I'm also using GO SMS PRO and for me it's awesome, but I don't have very big requirements. For normal user it has got everything, for sure it's better than stock sms app.
E :I'm not sure that an app supports adding prefixes.

Hello!
Sorry this is my first post and i hope that someone can held me.I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with the Dragon ICS V2.0 .Its a great Rom so far but i dont have a sms signs counter. My English is not so good and i hope you know what i mean.I have no flatrate for my sms and i need a counter where i can see how many signs i have until the second sms start. The Android Version is 4.0.4.I like the Dragon Style and i hope someone can held me to get the counter. If this is not possible i use Handcent.
Do you mean you want to know how many characters you are up to for your message? The default sms app does not show this information all the time. It will give you a warning when you are down to the last 10 characters on the top right of the input box.

Yes that is what i mean and someone in a another forum told me that on Android 4.0.3 the full(0/160) counter still including. Its strange i think. On 2.3.5 i also have the full counter that looks like 0/160.
Maybe the german ics default sms app is different than others?I dont know.....
If I recall from memory it does have the counter on all the time on gingerbread, but definitely not on ICS. No the stock sms app is the same all round, perhaps another app was used?
anyone can make this happen because we already have gear fit caculator and phone call.A keyboard and gear fit will be perfected :highfive:
For what do you want keyboard in Gear Fit ?
sms .. or maybe whatsapp viber ? xD that would be awesome

i know is insane but short reply is very useful and i think is cool to have a keyboard for gear fit hope someone can make this happen:angel:
A swype keyboard so it is easier to type.
i dont think keyboard a good idea, but if text template for quick replay maybe better
So we prepare the template and we choose one of them to reply msg
Sorry if my english is bad, this is the first time i post
still waiting
Text response templates are built in. Edit them with the Manager app on the phone.
I will prefer keyboard too cause for template we only can reply on sms but not on others. Beside if let's say u need to reply other words urgently. We have to reply on phone. When e.g. your phone is quite far from u.
Yes, but it would be nice if these also worked with Whatsapp

you can try Gear Fit Message : Please search it on Play Store with keywork : Gear Fit Messages. I can't post link here.
I've installed the gear fit messages app, it works ok for sms, but you can't use it for whatsapp or anything else.
I found the application only in the Latin alphabet. Could someone make it in Cyrillic?
Hi guys.
I want to allocate SMS alerts tones (not ringtones) to specific contacts with my Honor 7: can I do this?
Samsung’s TouchWiz, has an option to add a message alert to contacts, i.e. “Add another field >message alert”. However, Emotion has no such option. The facility to add a specific message alert to a contact doesn't exist with EMUI.
If this can't be done via the OS can anyone recommend an app (other than Ringo which doesn't work) which can allow specific alerts/message tones to be allocated to individual contacts?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sadly could not find such an option in EMUI. you can give RINGO a try. It is available in the play store and the free version will meet your needs.

Thanks, but as I mentioned I tried Ringo and it doesn't work with EMUI. Ringo requires the stock SMS alert to be silenced, so in fact I then get NO alerts at all: it's as if EMUI isn't aware of Ringo. I've used Ringo before with other Android devices and it's great, even the free version, but it doesn't function with EMUI.
I knew I was taking a gamble buying a lesser-known brand (were this an Samsung problem there'd be petabytes of online answers to this issue...). Shame, as I love the phone for many reasons - looks like I'll have to revert to Samsung if no-one can help. :crying:

I apologise for my mistake and someone will be able to help you for sure.
Another idea is to use some other messaging app like go message etc. They might have this option.

Thanks for your reply, however, I've tried Chomp SMS and Textra, with no luck (i.e. no option therein to allocate SMS alerts to individual contacts).
I can't believe I'm the only Honor 7 owner to feel this an an issue that Huawei needs to looks at...
But you mentioned "go message"? What's the formal name of this app please? I can't find it on the Play Store (only "Go SMS", an app that enables SMS's to be sent via PC)

Yeah, it was GO SMS but I checked it out along with other contact apps but it comes down to emui not assigning a custom notification tone for a contact... I am out of ideas, someone else might have a few for you...

I agree, Mike, this is a feature I had taken for granted with having used Samsungs. Very convenient and I wish it were possible with the 7x
Curious, did u ever find a workaround or are u back to using Samsung?
