I bought this phone a few days back. Rooted with z4root. Now how can I install megatron rom?
I also want to ask that why the system folder is all cramped up? It had only 3mb free. Whereas on my samsung spica it's always more than 50 mb free?
Now if I remove some apps from system folder and if in future I want to do a factory reset, will it be ok?
z4root din`t work for me. I got root with SuperOneClick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
I rooted my LGP500 using z4root. I had to reboot after install though.

check your firmware version.
i.e. v10E can not be rooted
but v10B is ok
downgrade your firmware to the rootable ones.
i suggest going for the custom ROMs: Megatron or Prime v2

your first step would be to "downgrade" from non-hackable (v10E) to hackable (v10B or v10C)
I believe I used information from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
NOTE: you need to have the drivers for the phone installed on your PC so be sure to have installed the LG PC Suite (mine came on the stock SD Card)
when you do get to a hackable version, your next step would be to "root" the unit.
simply look for z4root, i used version 1.3.0 I believe.
once rooted, you need to install Custom Recovery
I believe I used information from this thread:
http://androidforums.com/getitnowma...ry-optimus-one-p500-thunderg.html#post1896517
once you have Custom Recovery, perform a NAND Backup. the backup will be stored on your SD Card.
once you have a NAND Backup, copy the entire SD Card to your computer
you are now ready to go to Custom ROMS. I used Megatron.
I followed the instruction on the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870640
--------------------------------------------------
I have compiled some notes while experimenting with my LG-P500.
It can be found here: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
http://www.google.com/notebook/public/06042548804949147685/BDQzdDAoQ967kstMl
--------------------------------------------------
For your info, I have gone from: v10B --> v10E --> v10B --> Megatron --> V10C --> Megatron with these procedures. Just be careful when you are following the instructions and take things slowly. Keep notes too so you wont get lost.
Thanks for hitting the "Thanks" Button That energized me to write this long post.

Hi guys, here's the latest firmware by SE. Since it's not possible to root it with any known method, I prepared update.zip to be flashed with xRecovery
The firmware comes pre-rooted, with busybox and xRecovery pre-installed.
You need rooted 2.1 rom with xRecovery working to install this firmware!
If you already flashed the latest firmware with SEUS, please downgrade OR root it using THIS thread.
1. Download and unpack the file. It contains 2 files: update.zip and 2.0.2.A.0.24_for_X10-flasher.tar.bz2
2. Copy update.zip to SD Card
3. Boot into xRecovery and install update.zip
4. Turn off phone / remove battery
5. Unpack the 2.0.2.A.0.24_for_X10-flasher.tar.bz2 and flash the SIN files with X10-flasher
6. Enjoy!
Make sure you understand the installation process before you try!
Download: 2.0.2.A.0.24-rooted-zdz.tar.bz2
If you don't have loader.sin, please find it here (thanks pedrocel85)

Hey guy first of all I wish a Merry Christmas to all this amazing XDA community....
In topic: I'm assuming that the improvements of this new release are related to the /system folder so could it be possible to flash this new version and after that do a restore of my backup of the /data folder only using xrecovery?? It's just a thought so I don't loose my apps and stuff and I will not have to re do my titanium back up all over again.....

There is also a new kernel and baseband (see step 5). To be honest, restoring backup with xRecovery will work, but I'd also recommend backing up with Titanium (to be 100% safe).
ok so ive figured it out but the files dont have a loader.sin so i cant continue with the flasher!!!!

Yep. That line has me a tad confused too.
That means that zip can be flashed just by booting into xRecovery, and of one doesn't have xRecovery, then they can simply extract the files and flash using the Flash Tool - right?
yea im also confused by step 5.
Is it possible to install JIT?
If yes, I might try it soon.
I cant install xrecovery, already have the latest FW force closes, assuming it needs root already to install?

any other options, pone isnt found with x10 flasher in flash mode but fine in SEUS, so cant even get back to generic old 2.1
Probably stupid question, sorry if it is (had no experience in recovery before), but if I install this FW, would my apps/settings remain, or will it make my phone cleared?

I have an LG Optimus One running 2.2.2 latest firmware V10e. Recently, I rooted my device and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery and the Lagfix+OC Kernel by der_caverman. I am using the Stock ROM with that Kernel.
My question is when the official Gingerbread Update comes out by LG, will I be able to update it with the official LG software updater or will it not work because I have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed.
If not, how can I remove ClockWorkMod Recovery get my original Recovery Back???
any help would be appreciated!

nope. you can upgrade at any time if u are staying with ur oem rom even if u are rooted. only thing is that u will lose ur root previllage after the update.
its alwayes advisable to have a custom recovery and custom rom. cause it can take nandroid backups(will save your day if anything goes wrong)

it is risky since you have changed the frame work.if i were you i will do the following.
1)unroot the phone( if u have used gingerbreak use the same to unroot)
2)down load the original recovery from http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ and flash. thus u can getrid of amonra and get back original p500 recovery
3)reboot and hard reset and upgrade.
4) since u are now on original recovery and in unrooted condition if any thing goes wrong u can claim warrenty.
let me ask u why u need an upgrade? to get lot of crapwares? or to get amere 600mhz kernal? or to get a laggy phone with mere 60 mb of internal storage space to install all ur apps? or to have adds on every apps?

And I understand you when you ask me why do I need official update, because I agree that official rom = creap And thats why the first thing that I have done when I rooted my phone was to uninstall all the bloatware from it
I will for sure flash miks rom when he base it on official gingerbread, and if I have a little time for weekend current mod that you recommended (I only hesitate because of the bugs - I know there are just a couple of them, but...). I tried yesterday francos kernel v151, but I'm experiencing color bending in lower half of a screen with it...

yes its a flashable unsigned zip.but if u r using amonra to flash( cause it is unsigned) u have to uncheck the option "toggle signature verify" first.Amonra wont allow u to flash unsigned zips unless u do the above.
ps:if original recovery is flashed u will lose all the options in amonra and the only option will be the hard reset option.
there is a good how to section if u wish...

Hye Expert.. i wanna ask a few question that i still confused about it.. plz give me a solution
im using Atrix non 4G 4.3.13.AsiaRetail
1)can be unlocked with same method like AT&T?
2)if im unlocking, can i get Custom ROM with any version?
3)its possible if i change system version to 4.1.83 using pudding?
4)i didnt find step to use pudding software, whats tool needed and how to use it?
still no lucky
Thought of getting one of the atrix. Looking at the upgrade of gingerbread makes me wanting this phone more, but Singapore local sets are all brand unlocked. Only bootloader is still locked. I assume we could flash our local sets to AT&T then unlock the carrier, then upgrade to 2.3.4?
Can any guys help?
Do NOT flash AT&T software, this will BRICK your phone!
For root, GingerBreak worked for me.
There are two type of unlock, CARRIER unlock and BOOTLOADER unlock.
All phones sold in singapore must be CARRIER unlocked by law.
As for BOOTLOADER unlock, use this link and flash the INTERNTIONAL/BELL version NOT the AT&T version.
Do you need step by step instructions for bootloader unlock?
@trinityb4
In reply to your other post, the safest way to get Gingerbread now is to
1.Unlock bootloader
2.CWM
3.Custom ROM =D
NEVER NEVER NEVER flash an AT&T .sbf file! Their Atrix is slightly different!
don't root on asia retail 3.1.0 or 3.1.3 .. i got my internal-sd formatted by itself after ramdom reboots (not rooting on 1st time)
but i got the rooting fine on stock rom if i flash to other europe rom such as Orange UK 4.20, Spain retail 4.33 etc..
i got no idea why but i try numerous time on with asia retail seems to have this problem but no problem with stock european roms.
best is to unlock bl and flash to att 4.59.1 with rooting

Flash any custom roms in development treat. I already tried all roms (including fruit cakes 2.3.4 roms). I prefer dark side v1. 3 & alien v4 for daily use. Other roms also good but I like blur gb & launcher. The best thing is please read this treat for reference.

Mine is doing well with Alien #4 very well at this moment. I think i'll stick to this ROM till official CM7 for Atrix is released.
Kernel for international version is already included so you don't need to worry about that

Dear pswin09,
Found my answer already...
Hi guru,
I had download the cmw file extracted it, renamed recovery.img (as in short recovery) and put it into my c drive without folder.
Then i run cmd prompt
C:\Users\vaio>cd c:\atrix <enter>
c:\atrix>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img <enter>
'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
what went wrong?
edit; ok i did not root the phone.
now i've rooted it with gingerbreak and try again to see the outcome.

Try to use "Flashtool": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
I had problems when tried using the new version (0.9.9.0) of Flashtool with my X10 mini (E10) .
I tried the older V0.8.6.0 and it went smoothly!
I also did complete factory reinstall with SEUS. Not sure it was necessary but if you do- make a full backup before!

Hey,
Just commenting:
I tried to flash it according to the thread you posted. But It does not works with flashtool 0.9.9.0. Even I installed appropriete drivers, but without sucess.
I did not find older version of flash tool and did not do complete factory reinstall.
So maybe it is time to find it and do reinstall...

trust me, i've been where you are and I know what you mean. what you could do is download the x8toolbox.final (link given below)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117100
it's really useful for starters. It's very easy to follow commands in it as well. you can root, install recovery, add dual touch and more with easy to follow instructions. x8toolbox is the best!!! all the best and hope it works out for you.
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED!!

I would recommend to try the older version of Flashtool (0.8.6)- you can find at the "Previous release" tab at the download site (http://androxyde.github.com). Don't forget to install the drivers from the \Flashtool\drivers folder.

i guess you are new to this phone. you have a soft brick. install Sony PC companion and go to 'support' and repair your phone manually by following the instructions there. nothing to worry.
next, you cannot install minicm9 without unlocking bootloader and without unlocking boot loader, you can't flash custom kernel required for minicm. unlocking bootloader is a bit risky. remove your battery and look for the digits in the form of 11w29. if your phone has anything equal to or above 11w29 (like 11w30 or 11w44), you CANNOT unlock bootloader. you have to flash roms compatible with your custom kernel. so better stick with the stock kernel if you don't want to risk it. i suggest you could try kuyadroid or gingerxperia or froyobread or honeyfroyo
link of some custom roms here:

ROM flash
[Thank you 666shanx! Yes, it helped. Yes, I am new. It is my wife's phone which is fed up with the system (slow, small RAM menory), but she loves this hardware (red, small, hw keyboard). So I wanted to install other version of system to improve it.
I have 11w6. it means I can unlock bootloader. But, if could help me to flash the stock roms to improve the system, maybe I would do it like that.
Am I right?
Thank you!
Yes you could unlock bootloader. But you don't necessarily need to. Try flashing 'kuyadroid'. It installs on stock and DOESN'T NEED UNLOCK!
There are a lot of threads which teach you how to unlock. Search a bit for them. You need flashtool for it, which I guess you already have. Here's one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821750
But before all that just try kuyadroid. I bet you'll love it

?
what do you mean?
there is no miniCM roms for x10 (x10i); only for x10mini (e10/robyn), x10minipro (u20/mimmi) and x8/w8 (e15/shakira)
and each rom version is device specific and wont work on other devices.
I've already explained to him that minicm roms do not work. I've given him a link of roms which work on all the phones I mentioned...
