hi there.
i have a problem, i removed LG App Advisor from my rooted OO, but the program is still in the menu and it is still working (like nothing happened),
i used the terminal emulator proceedure remounting the file system and then removing the program, this proceedure succeded with every other program, but seems useless against AppAdvisor...and i don't know why, but since i'm a newbie could be my fault...what should i do to remove permanently the app?
Try TitaniumBackup and restart phone after procedure.
Go to Market, download Root Explorer, launch it click on top on mount r/w then go to /system/app and remove App Advisor (I don't remember the exact name, but it has to contain app advisor .apk) from there.

So I got got root, after having a long and hard decision, because I soft-bricked my phone yesterday.
Anyway, I got titanium because no other apps were free on Market like Root Manager or Root Explorer.
When I go to Backup/Restore I get a list, but they're not apps, they're stuff like:
Accounts
Application Widgets
Bluetooth Pairings
Country, Language, Time zone
Wi-Fi Access Points
but I want to delete the Avatar, TeleNav, and others.
PS, I've tried searching, didn't help me, so please don't tell me to "SEARCH". OH and I also read the sticky, didn't help x]
Any help is gladly appreciated
Does anybody know how? Please?
I prefer File Manager, it's free and pretty easy to use and delete all the Bloatware. Download it, open it and navigate to My Phone>system>app and look for the apk you want removed.
Is it ASTRO file manager, eFile - File Manager, or just plain "File Manager"?
Oh and what is .odex and .apk? Should I delete both?

.odex is the file before deodexing.
.apk is the output once deodexed.
Yes, delete both.. But I would recommended titanium to uninstall. And there is a link in the sticky that tells you all of the .apks & .odex files you can remove...
Plain File Manager.
Here's a list of safe programs you can remove.
First off all the Standard Apps:
AccountAndSync.apk/odex -> The app in the drawer, not the settings.
AddToHome.apk/odex
AudioPostcard.apk/odex
Avatar.apk/odex -> The app that launches Avatar in the video player.
BuddiesNow.apk/odex
Dlna.apk/odex [Allshare]
FlashPlugin.apk/odex
GoGo.apk/odex
Infoalarm.apk/odex [Daily Briefing]
KindleStub.apk/odex
Layer-samsung.apk/odex
MediaHub.apk/odex
Memo.apk/odex
Mini Diary.apk/odex
MobiTV.apk/odex
MyAccountStub_4-5-10.apk/odex
Myfiles.apk/odex
Sims3_Samsung_Embed_Launcher.apk/odex
slackerradio.apk/odex
Swype-Tips.apk/odex
Telenav.apk/odex
thinkdroid.apk/odex [ThinkFree Office]
vvm-signed.apk/odex -> T-Mobile Visual Voicemail [can be re-downloaded from the market. for some reason that version is the preferred one.]
VoiceRecorder.apk/odex
VoceDialer.apk/odex
Writeandgo.apk/odex
TouchwizWidgets:
Day.apk/odex
DualClock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Calenderclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Feedandupdate.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_stockclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Weatherclock.apk/odex

Oh and when I use file manager and try to delete it says insufficient privilege or something like that
Oh and it didn't ask for root powers even though I already rooted and have the superuser app

Open SU and see if you accidentally denied it. If so click it if not then reboot your phone and open Ti again. That should prompt SU.

I used the BlueMonkey theme by Jivy26, however I didn't like the GoSMSPro. I deleted the app via titanium backup, and used File Explorer to confirm it was deleted. However, it still shows up as being installed in the market place and I have the icon in my app list (although it says the application is not installed on my phone) How do I manusally remove the icon from the app list?

I guess the best thing to do is to reinstall the app and uninstall from the task manager or go to settings-applications and uninstall from there.

i have tried that actually...it just uninstalls forever, and never actually deletes it.

Make sure that the app is not running in the background or as a service.
Reboot the phone and go into settings>applications>running
services and see if you can find the offending app there.
If you can find it there, click on it and select STOP".
Then if all goes well you will be able to do a complete unistall.
Not running as a service =\ Is there a place where those icons are located on the phone itself? I could delete it through root explorer if I could find it.

icons for applications are stored within the apk itself....if the apk is gone, the app is gone.
try uninstalling them and then wipe cache/dalvik cache in CWM

If you know how to use root explorer to delete files
you can go into root of phone /system/apps and find
the offending APK name and delete with root explorer.
Some apps will have a "com." before the actual app name
so look for that too.
Good luck!
HI, and first of all, wanna give a head's up and mention that I'm relatively new to the Droid world...
I have installed MiniCM7Pro over a stock kernel, but my question is, how can I remove the DSP Manager that comes along the rom?
Btw, how can we replace, for instance, the contacts app with GO Contacts?
Thanks in advance!
You can remove dps with titanium backup, search for it on market its a free apk, and I think you can replace the contact apk without problems
Well, Titanium didn't uninstalled DSP Manager, thru that force uninstall option... so, still listening to more ideas...

try using flash tool. post number 8 is how you can uninstall system apps
Flastool Guide
hit thanks to the op and devs if it helped you
Thats strange cause everytime I update my minicm rom I delete dsp with tb. You can other way, with root explorer apk, go to system/app & just delete dsp, then reboot your phone and voila
Use Link2SD
Link2SD is an app with the basic purpose of moving apps from phone memory to an ext partition on SD card. But apart from that, the app can also manage applications, like uninstalling and freezing them.
I use Link2SD only to uninstall or freeze system apps. Its the free, clean and quick way of doing it...

dsp manager can be uninstalled with root explorer. Search in system/app for the app, and in data/data for the data folder corresponding to it (I don't remember it's name, but is like com-dspmanager-something ) and delete both files, then reboot.
About go contacts, phone.apk can be uninstalled in the same way, but is under your own risk. Anyways, keep a backup of your files
works perfectly with root explorer thanks!
For some strange reason, Root Explorer didnt work for me. I had to use Terminal Emulator
(Pre-installed or from the Play Store)
Code:
su (ENTER)
mount -o remount rw /system (ENTER)
rm system/app/DSPManager.apk (ENTER)
That method worked fine for me...
But sometimes, a simple reboot and then using root explorer also worked
My NT is using indirect's root and I had the stock apps removed. Every time I reboot, pandora, netflix, and hulu plus always show back up after I uninstall them. Any clue why they come back after a reboot? My netflix app always asks for an update and I have two copies of pandora on there.
you have to first go to root--->system---->app find the app and delete.
then uninstall
then reboot
(may need to change permissions to delete the crap)
I had this same issue, and one of the best ways to prevent it is before trying to delete/uninstall theme, is to go into the stock app manager and archive everything, this unregistered the flag that says they should be there on the device at all from B&N's perspective, and ensures they won't just suddenly appear again. I had the same issue with Netflix continually reverting to B&N's version instead of the newest version.

how do you archive everything? by the stock app manager i'm assuming you mean the menu where it lists all your apps...
market--->es file explorer
install
open---->top right( star for favs) click. THen select the phone object thing. (/) is under mine
root will open up
click system(should be before vendor folder)
click on App folder(before Bin folder)
select app---> change permissions so you can delete
after delete uninstall that app(which you deleted)
reboot and it should be gone

honestly, that makes no sense. please post a picture on image shack or something and link it so we can see
Hi there,am running BEASTSense ROM on HTC Hero. When am trying download from the market it doesn't download. It says your app will be download and that's it. Does anybody knows the answer of that annoying thing ? Reflash the rom doesn't help.
Thanks.
It sounds like you are trying to download the app from the Play Store Webpage..
If that is the case, then after a new flash you need to download at least one app through the market on your phone in order to "link" your phone and the play store account, after which you can close and reopen the play store twice in order for the app to update itself to the latest version.
when it reopens as Play Store and you agree the terms and conditions, it should then work online on the webpage .. or try download another app to link it and try again
The rom I'm running is with market app instaled.Doesn't wont update to google play. If I try install it says "there is a problem with installing the package". Anyway will change the rom probably. Thanks
I have the same issue as the guy in OP, the downloading app just hangs in there in the status bar
Have you tried to wipe market data and cache in Manage Applications. You could try to flash or push an updated market App to replace your current app if you feel the app is broken.. Paraphrasing Icebox from his thread..
You will need to find the market apk you want to push (i guess that's from Froyo version) and copy/paste it into /system/app by using a file manager that has root access - Es File Explorer is great for this but you'll need to grant root access from Settings (Es File Explorer settings that is) and then perform the copy/paste action in /system/app.
The market is named Vending.apk and the one you'll copy should need to have the same name.. ..
Good luck, or try a different Rom.. etc
