My son, in all his wisdom didnt see a need for the custom recovery or nandroid. Except now his phone wont boot so I am unable to get an adb shell. It is stuck at lg boot screen. I can get to the stock recovery which is s-on apparently. I do have backups of the stock img files. system, boot, recovery, etc. He said he was trying to add a custom kernel to the boot img via adb when he encountered the problem. Is it possible currently to flash a new kernel and or rom via the stock recovery? I cant seem to get past the verification. Any help is greatly appreciated.....
Go to stickies on forum and you will see what you have to do.. you need KDZ updater and the stock image.. that's what worked for me..

hey guys, searched the forum, found some stuff matching my post but figured i would put out an update. just rooted tonight, ive done these before and i used to be a member awhile ago but forgot what email used. anyway, galaxy s2 sch-r760. recovery problem. CWM doesnt seem to offer a proper recovery and im new to using odin so im not sure where to go from here. how can i go about making a backup if i cant get into recovery? i would like to do a new rom and back this thing up asap. need a new recovery or ideas for one. any help would be appreciated guys!
You need to expand on this. What did you do to root,do you have stock or cwm recovery?
Followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928566 to root. Its a generic CDMA. Root went fine. It tells me that it has root access. I am trying to flash CWM recovery and it won't boot into recovery from the CWM option. It shows the unpacking screen for a few seconds then reboots. As of now I am assuming its stock recovery because I can't get it to boot into recovery from CWM like I was saying
Tried doing a manual boot into recovery and it turned on, said galaxy s2, turned off then rebooted. Its acting like there is no recovery at all....
No help on this guys? Anybody mod generic s2 before?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, not sure where to put it,
I own a NATPC M009s x2.
I rooted it today and was hoping to install the cwm.
I had to install the driver manually so i tried to install it through the recovery mode
However after I did this the device wouldnt boot up past the boot logo and im not too sure what to do.
Unfortunately this is a soft bricked device now. You can either try to use ADB to attempt rebooting into recovery.
EDIT: If you do not have cwm successfully flashed, (this is based off of previous experience) there is no way to fix this. Please correct me if I am wrong, I rooted my first phone and factory reset it through the stock rom without a recovery. Sent the phone into a boot loop. I did write a program (Mango Tools) to help fix this however, it can be found on mellowdev.net It is being updated atm but wouldnt mind emailing it to you if you PM me.

I SOFT BRICKED my lg e730 while trying to install HarshGinger v3.
My story:
I tried to root my phone, and everything was ok until I tried to install the rom. I saw in recovery how the rom was installing, and when all was completed the phone entered into a boot loop. I think that I should install first a stable cyanogen mod and then harshginger.. I think this is what I done wrong. The phone it`s soft bricked because I can reach to the emergency mode screen.
Question:
I can do a reboot from ADB or I have to use KDZ? KDZ looks like the type of program used by the smart people and I`m not really that smart. I am looking for a simpler solution, like a combination of buttons or something.
P.S: sorry for my bad english. And I really searched for this kind of problem before posting.
Nobody?
None of the rooting methods give you full root, the bootloader is not unlocked, so flashing roms doesn't flash to the boot partition of your device. Also you don't have a custom recovery, so you can't flash custom roms. You could flash the boot file from your rom to the boot partition with fastboot commands, but without full root, you can't run fastboot commands. If you want to recover feom your soft brick, then you need the LG mobile support tool, once you have the app installed, go to option tab and choose flash recovery, ot will either put your phone into download mode, or you can do it manually, by holding volume up + down + power. It will flash you back to stock 4.1.2 jellybean. I soft bricked this morning changing the density, and I used this tool to get my phone back. For root use a app called LGPwn.apk works like a charm. In the future try to read more before you screw with your device, but I know how it is, gotta learn some how.

What had happened:
I got a free tablet, decided to **** around with it....
so, i decided to use odin to flash TWRP recovery with it..
however.. when i try to get to recovery mode, it only shows a ! mark.
therefore, i tried to flash a rooted system image. it worked.
then, with my newly found rooted device, i tried to fix my recovery by
attempting to use cwm.... i pressed on to "boot to recovery", and now its
stuck on a infinite loop, booting to the ! mark. the only thing i can access is download mode.
so.. how do i fix it? feel free to ask any qns i will try to provide the infomation needed.
thanks.
Well, the problem here seems to be that you messed up with the boot or the system files, maybe your bootloader is blocked so you need root to flash a custom recovery or ROM and to unlock the bootloader, you should first check the CWM supported devices list before actually flashing Clockwork recovery!
Try to flash a full stock rom through fastboot mode.

Hey guys I need a helping hand, can somebody please help?
So this is the problem:
I've recently flashed a rom without clearing data and made my phone bootloop/ed
then, I tried to flash a 750MB+ firmware I've saw online. but that doesnt help.
The recovery goes back from cmw to stock recovery but still boot loop
So I tried the "wipe" command in recovery mode
now it is stucked in the android icon and cant boot into recovery
then when I've tried to flash a new firmware the device cant read into the
computer. Can you guys please help me in my situation? Thanks in advance
