[REQUEST] Sense Navbar.. (might be one for you, Cryshop?) - Legend Themes and Apps

Saw this Thread under the Desire forum..
I really like the way the Navbar is made on this rom..
I myself do not have the graphic-skille to make something like this, so hopefully someone else have??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729172

lol, ok, I did a quick job by pulling graphic files from mytouch 3g slide sense. Just download the zip, unzip it, then replace these files with ones in com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-port-mdpi
Drawable-port-mdpi
I'm not sure how it's look, maybe you could post a screenshot

Yep, as it turns out, you don't even have to bother resizing some images... as it is with battery, navbar, lockscreen...system just resizes them automatically...
of course it's a good Idea to conserve space...

use adw launcher and search for espresso theme in market

Just tried to replace the files in the original .apk - putting it all in a zip-file (not signed since I'm on S-OFF) but it just brings me to bootloop

I'm not entirely sure, but I think running apk's still have to be signed...correct me If I'm wrong...

I've never signed framework apk files. What I did is :
1. Open apk file with winrar, leave it.
2. Open folder window that includes necessary files.
3. Drag and drop file from (2) to (1) for replacing or something else.
4. Push apk files back to /system/framework/
Benefits:
- No need to extract apk files.
- No need to re-zip.
- No need to sign.

That's what I did.. (Used TotalCommander instead) ..
EDIT: Now trying using WinRAR
Now it worked.. Only "bug" is now, that the indicator of which homescreen used is still a "bow"... Is there any way to either get rid of that or to edit it..?

[INFO] How to change startup screen

Aparently there are three distinct startup screens. This is a guide to changing the last one, in my case its the O2 bubbles screen:
You need a 800x480 pic, rename/convert it to '00.png'
1. Use 'Root Explorer' and browse to the /system folder. (you can of course use any of the other file explorers with root permission out there)
2. There is a button above the folder list called 'Mount R/W' click it.
3. Now navigate to your '00.png' file and copy it.
4. Navigate to the /system/customization/BootAnimation/images/ folder and rename the '00.png' thats there '00bak.png'.
5. Paste your '00.png' file in there...DONE
Heres one I made earlier:
Thanks for the info mate
hello thank's for the info dude. can we use a .gif file ???
and how to get sound with image ? thank's again!
Thanks for the info, if it wasn't for you I would most definitely be interested in how to change the image.

Sorry for the bump... Any tutorial on how to do this on 2.1?
I would imagine its the same.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Nope, the /BootAnimation/images/ folders don't exist.
On 2.1, I found a /system/media/bootanimation.zip
with sub dirs /part0, /part1
in /part0 there is a 00000.png (which is the O2 boot screen).
Didn't try changing it, but I bet that will do the trick..
Will try & let you know..
Awesome, thanks. I'll also give it a blast once I get home fom college.
That didn't work, that is a zip file, cant find where it is being extracted in 2.1. Will keep searching.
Only got a quick chance to play with it yesterday, but I think the .zip file is the answer. I think the reason it didn't work for us because it wasn't signed. Will try editing, and then signing, the zip file later.
Sorry to bump an older thread, but I'm still having no luck. Anyone have links to a recent tutorial that'll work on 2.1/2.2?
Of course it doesn't work, it was just some developers attempt to get you all to spend money on 'Root Explorer' apps!
You didn't fall for that one

For all the Trolls out there, you can use any file manager that gives you root permissions.
I was simply giving the steps 'I' did to get a different startup screen.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone by trying to help the community.

The bootanimation.zip IS the file you wanna change if you want a different boot up screen. I have a bunch of bootanimation.zip from previous Android device and they work but for some reason when I try to create my own or even just modify the stock one and re-zip, it just comes up with a black screen.
didnt get the stock dell logo animation that comes with the att streak, but i did get rid of the o2 logo and its been replaces with the stock android one (looks rather android 1.0 -ish). and i guess thats more relevant.

Basic Framework Edits

this is a very basic guide to change colors and maybe icons if you've suitable icons..
I don't know anything about signing apks and stuffs but I did the following steps and it worked for me...
THINGS YOU'LL NEED :
7zip
Any Imaging Software that can handle PNG files(I use PHOTOSHOP)
FRAMEWORK-RES.APK file
STEPS :
Right Click on your framework-res.apk
Click 7-zip->Open Archive
go to res folder
Extract drawable-mdpi anywhere on your pc
edit the files you want with your imaging software and save them
now drag the modified files to the drawable-mdpi folder in the zip file
Open the drawable-mdpi folder in your zip file
select the modified files, hold and drag to the zip archive and leave it
it will ask you to add the files or not
just click yes
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Close the file
Push your framework into your phone
(I use Xrecovery mode for pushing it, cuz its safe)
Code:
[B]busybox cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk[/B]
---------------------------END------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT TIPS
if you're upto modifying colors than you may notice that some files have extension .9.png they need special way to edit (actually not so special lol)
just open them in your imaging program
you'll notice few black dots and black border
something like this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
keep those black things as they are, and mess around with the other colors
-----------------------------END QUOTE----------------------------------
for now I've just tested this with colors and few icons and it works
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if anyone needs this framework (I changed the green color to orange, changed the lock symbol to stock it was too small and colored some of the network indicators from white to green lol)
FRAMEWORK-RES.APK.7z
Good. i tried to change the xml files. but the process needed me to use apktool to decompile the framework-res.apk.
when i used original framework-res-apk, it decompiled successfully, but when I used gingerbread framework-res.apk by pulpoff, errors about the .9.pngs occur.

yeah.. i used gingerbread theme's icons and they worked however you can only replace those which have the exact same name you know not everything is possible lol
nice work. can you explain how to change battery icon, i want it show percent, like 58% in front of the icon. i think that's what people need most
I see now, that in framework 'res' folder, in 'drawable-land-mdpi', we have stock layouts of Lock Screen (i mean, stock bar for unlock move and sound).
How can I set it to default? I don't like that SE original LockScreen theme...
Find all the icons named as SEMC_slidingtab and replace them the way you want

[Sense][BatteryMOD]STOCK SENSE BAR WITH NO PERCENTAGE.

This is just a stock sense battery w/o the percentage. I only made this cause I worry about my phone battery A LOT and battery percentage makes it worse for me and I wondered if other people felt the same, so I'm sharing it here. It's really not much so don't criticize or talk crap about it. Just for those iffy people who HATE battery percentages. Enjoy!
Installation Process
- Unzip files into a folder called battery.
- Go into cmd enter " cd C:\AndroidSDK\tools "
- Then enter " adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk "
- Open the .apk file w/winRAR
- Go to res>drawable-hdpi
- Drag contents from the "Battery Folder" into drawable-hdpi
- Now, put framework-res.apk into SDK tools folder and " adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework "
- Enjoy

I found it but root explorer won't allow me to access the framework-res.apk...it won't allow me to paste them there, only options available for the framework apk are install,view and cancel when pressed.

Color Gmail notifier icon request

I really did give it a try but It didn't work. I tried to change the icon from a file I pulled out of the Gingeritis Thunderbolt rom that I was using before I switched to the GN2. I just don't know enough about making these changes. Can anyone out there help?
I'd like the red and white icon to replace the plain grayish icon in the notification bar when I get new email (gmail).

This is a great request. Plus 1
+2 for this I would gladly donate
agree OP has made a great request
I'm running Beans stock deodexed
Does anyone at least have a link for a tutorial so I can give it another try?
sorry I can't help but I'm ready to donate if you can get it working
so what you want is that your email notification look like that?
Yes. But that opens another issue because notifications have a dark tint when you add color to them.

This is actually the image that resembles the current gmail icon used in the notification bar. With the envelope closed. I think the one with the envelope open is used in the app.

I take no responsibility for any harm that may come to your phone trying this.
You must be rooted for this to work
check out the links at the bottom on this post for ninjamorph stuff
****The new image must be the same size as the old image for this to work****
I was able to get the notification changed using ninjamorph and rootexplorer.
1. rename your image stat_notify_email.png
2. Open ninjamorph and start a new project.
3. go to data/app/com.google.android.gm-1.apk
4. When you click it, it should extract the folder.
5. On the next screen click copy it(lower right corner).
It should tell you where the copy was saved. For me it was on my phone storage in androidthemes/workspace
From there i went to rootexplorer( you could also do this part on your computer).
1. open androidthemes/workspace/com.google.android.gm-1.apk/res
2. Locate these file:
drawable-hdpi,
drawable-mdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-hdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-mdpi,
drawable-sw600dp-xhdpi,
drawable-xhdpi
3. This may just be an extra step but i went through each of these files and added .bak to the end of each original image so it looked like this: stat_notify_email.png.bak (this will keep the original as a backup in the folder).
4. Copy/paste the new image named stat_notify_email.png into each of these folders.
If you don't rename the files when you paste you will just replace the original.
5. Once you have placed the image in all the file you will go back to ninjamorph and click finish project.
6. Click the com.google.android.gm-1.apk
7. It will then create package
8. It will ask if you are sure you want to replace the .apk....click yes
9. It will ask if you want to optimize using zipalign...click yes
10. It will ask if you want to clean up/delete project...Click yes or no(up to you)
11. Once it is done, reboot phone and it should have the new notification icon but it will have a dark tint from the notification bar.
I have not done that much with ninjamorph so there probably is a shorter way to do all this.
Here are a couple links to using ninjamorph:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674604
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...ninjamorph-change-notification-bar-icons.html
Hopefully this works for you.
Excellant write up for those wantign to try some of this..

LP Roms .

Hello,
Are there currently any 5.0 or higher roms that enable you to remap the on screen buttons? i cant stand the back button on the left.
Thanks!
i
The feature missing from android(or at least not utilized) is a system global way to have an application interface as left handed or right handed. Its nice that the maps app. Or inbox puts buttons on the lower right...glad I'm not left handed for those apps. Would be nice to see developers rebuild their apps with this in mind.
Sent from my VS985 4G
I think illusion, vanir, bliss and maybe one or two others offer it. I know Candy5 does. This has been my dd for a few weeks now. Allows you to remap the buttons as well as add double tap and long press actions. I prefer candy5 because the others didn't offer screenshot as an option for the action.
You can't remap the order of the buttons though I've been wanting the same thing I usually have the back button on the right side instead of left side ,but as far as I know it can't be done from the stock settings any lp roms come with .
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Free mobile app
Anonymously is correct...with vanir you can even remap quick settings now

Decompile your SystemUI.apk
Replace the navigation_bar.xml with the one attached to this post. Be sure to remove the .txt extension.
Recompile your SystemUI.apk as SystemUInew.apk
Open both SystemUIs as archives and move the META-INF folder, resources.arsc, and AndroidManafest.xml into the SystemUInew.apk.
Close both apks.
Rename the old to SystemUIold.apk and the new to SystemUI.apk
Move the new apk to /system/priv-app/SystemUI overwriting the existing apk.
Change the permissions of the new apk to RW-R--R--, before restarting if possible if not after rebooting. You may have a SystemUI fc, just force a reboot by pulling the battery or holding the power button.
You could make a flashable zip but that is something you'll have to learn on your own time.
If you are really lazy upload your framework-res.apk and your SystemUI.apk and ill make you a flashable zip.

Awesome. Thanks so much for this. I've never done it before so I think I'll take a stab at it myself...nice little mini project to learn something new. I think its always goo to have some sort of understanding of what you do to your phone in case something goes wrong or if you need to do it again. Say on a different phone or something...Thanks again! :good:
seems like most roms are enabling the feature. i know beanstalk has it . and Blissrom. im currently on blissrom and there are some nice new features.
is it just me or does the new lockscreen a dissapointment? i much prefer the 4.4 lockscreen . hope there is a way to have options in the future.
