I have the nero v3 rom by team whiskey and i really dont prefer the stock android sms app. Handcent is alright but i really want the stock touchwiz sms app. Is there any cwm flashable zip you could direct me to that is compatible with nero v3?
PS i dont want the full touchwiz experience, just the sms

It has bugs with pic messaging last I heard, why not customize handcent to look like it??

Look in my thread, I have a fixed TWiz MMS with GB style notification icons and shortcut. Picture messages aren't blurry in that version either. There's a link to my thread in my signature.

GO SMS is also a great option, its got a tad few less customization options than Handcent, but I think it looks much nicer.
Hey guys thanks for all the quick replies! Also i tried your slightly better gingerbread and every one that i tried came back with the system asking me to wait or to force close. Am i doing something wrong?

You should really ask questions about SBG in my thread. If you had another theme prior to mine, some are incompatible. download the Theme Restore I posted and flash that. If you can't get it on your SD card, boot into CWM, select mounts and storage, then mount USB storage. Then you can put it your internal SD to flash it. After you flash that and reboot once, you should be able to apply any of my themes without the force closes or boot-loops. If that doesn't solve your problem, please report it in my thread.

yep, GO SMS is just amazing, has a bunch of themes, android, iphone, htc etc.
pop-up options
its really idiot-proof
has all the options you'd look for in a sms app, and it gets updated like every week or every other week.

Did you install the android SDK when you rooted? There is a tool in the tools folder called ddms or something similar. If you plug your phone into your computer and run that tool it will give you an option to take a screen shot at any point. Even in a 3d game.

Yup shootme user here as well...

Shoot me is the best. The only problem for the originator of this thread is that shoot me takes pictures in png format while xda app only let's you upload in jpg therefore you need to wither use drocap2 like everyone else does who uploads here or find a converter for your pictures on the market if one is out there and convert the picture to jpg. Or you can try to tell the devs to make the xda app compatible with png im sure there not to busy and will stop everything there doing for this request. (Lol. Just had to add a little humor not being a smart a**)

After alot of trial and error, I found that drocap2 suited my needs the best. I hated the shake trigger or timer functionalities of the other apps, the first never worked for me and the second was a pain of unparalleled proportions.... These two options are available for drocap as well, but I use the notification trigger functionality which takes a snapshot way quicker and more reliably then the other approaches. Drocap also lets you select were the snapshots end up which is a bonus as I like to store my images inbthe same directory!

One thing you'll notice about the notification trigger for drocap ia that it always appears in the picture. Another thing after further use you'll notice that it takes pictures fast but for every picture or at least the first one you'll will catch it will say "superuser as granted drocap" dudah ... so yeah and well if your like lots of of here (anal about screenshots) having that notification in the bar is a h**l no... enough said.

Hey guys I'm running Bionix V right now but I'm going to update to V 1.2.1.
So I'm wondering what the differences are between the 'Gingerbread' and the 'Touchwiz' editions? And in your opinions which is better and why?
I would just flash both of them to find out myself but I hate having to import my contacts, apps, sms/mms, and other things individually everytime. Unless you know of an app that makes it quick and easy to do all at once.
If someone could explain the differences I think I could make the right choice the first time
Thanks
Edit:
Also I've been hearing good/maybe bad things about V 1.2.1
Should users upgrade or stay with V? I'll keep you posted when I upgrade I've been a little busy lately
The difference is how the phone looks. When you hit the home button, your desktop, or launcher, has icons, widgets, etc.
The gingerbread one looks like standard, non themed gingerbread.
TouchWiz looks more like your vibrant did out of the box. I personally find it incredibly ugly so I prefer the gingerbread theme.

Yes, I have been. I really don't think it matters which one you install if you're planning on installing a 3rd party launcher, anyway.

Oh really the only difference between the touchwiz and gingerbread is the launcher?
And how customizable are each of them and maybe I wouldn't need a third party launcher?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The only advantage I can think of for using touchwiz is that it comes with the Samsung apps installed as well.

So gingerbread is the way I should go?

I'm not sure if it comes with the bloatware, but it would come with the Samsung widgets that are available using TouchWiz. (One example is the "Friends" widget that updates facebook and twitter)
But if you're planning on using LauncherPro or any other launcher, all of this is moot anyway. I'd recommend the Gingerbread version because I like the notification bar and stock android is so much better looking than TouchWiz in every aspect.
EDIT: You asked earlier how to import contacts and things; you should sync them with Google as it makes the transition between ROMs seamless. Also, Titanium Backup can backup and restore all of your apps and data. (This excludes SMS). Finally, I use SMS backup to backup all of my texts/MMS to gmail for safekeeping
Thanks wearmaize
I'll go with gingerbread. I use sms and titanium backup they work great.
But last time I synced with google it didn't save all my contacts when I flashed so I don't know if somethings wrong or I'm doing it wrong

Next time you sync with google, check your contacts online using a computer to make sure they're all there.
As for Bionix, I'd recommend v 1.2 or v 1.2.1. I find v 1.2 to be the most stable, but I've only been on v 1.2.1 for a day so I can't really say for sure. Both are great.

I used to use Handcent quite some time ago but found out that it was causing some problems with people receiving my messages and pictures. In addition, it started hanging and would generally slow down. Lastly I was told that it does not necessarily play nice with some other applications, namely LightFlow.
When I eventually put Eclipse on my DX2, I simply did not re-download Handcent and was just using the stock SMS until today, using CM7 and still, the stock SMS.
What does everyone else use, are there any decent alternatives to the stock SMS and if so, what makes it a better alternative?
All I've ever used is handcent, seems to be working nice for me, never used liteflow though.

I'm a huge fan of chompSMS. I've tried Handcent and GoSMS, but I always end up coming back to chomp. The only thing I wish they would add is the ability to multi-select message threads to delete, instead of having to do it one by one or deleting them all at once. I emailed them and suggested that and they responded that it was planned for an upcoming update, so maybe I'll get my wish.

I have used Metro Messaging Beta for a while. It was when I was going through my WP7 phase. lol. I actually liked it though. It didnt have any cool features (it was actually very limited) but with how simple it was, it was nice to use. I have recently just gone back to the stock sms app though. I also use SMS Popup so when I get a message, I dont even have to open the sms app.
I too, use GOsms. I like the customization and different themes it offers.
Just make sure to manually go into stock notifications and disable. Other wise you will get multi notifications at some point. It will ask you at setup to disable, but for some reason you will still have to manual disable through stock app.
You could always give it a go!

GO SMS is what I use, I like how it pops up a window without you having to swipe notifications, and the overall customizability of it. As Elite49 said, you cant go over 1.2mb in size but it just let it shrink my photos to fit and it works just fine. Be sure to get all the plug in for it too, there are tons of themes and emotocons etc...

Does yours degrade the pics when their not over 1.2MB? I find it extremely annoying seeing a pic thats under that somehow look like crap when I go to send it.

you dont need to delete anything install app and then change phone and contact shortcuts icons in your home screen by the ones of the app
howver you can use system contacts if you want and after install the app if you go to a contact and press to make a call it will ask you wich dialer you want to use by definition you mark the box and choose app dialer and thats it...
i try it, before post sorry for my english but dont delete those apps from system the solution is right there.
just press thanks if i help you
Hi...
I am currently using Neko95 GingerSnap, and, since i tried MIUI, i loved the UI, i use ExDialer.
When i missed a call, the notification only disappear (automatic) if i open the stock app.
I Linked exdialer to ex partition of sd, rebooted and converted to sys app (Link2SD).
You still have the stock apps, but they are small...
The next thing that i will try, after consult the community if it works, is to, before flash, exchange the stock apps for the ones that i will use... (if someone that reads this can tell, please...)
With best regards, Shaib Lftg
Are you talking about extracting the rom than replace the phone and contacts apk with the dialer and contacts you plan on using ie...rocket dial and renaming it to phone.apk and vice versa
