Ok so I've been searching and haven't found anyone else with the prob, or solution, but I know with a rooted phone you have to dial *22899 to update roaming, but since I flashed kaosfroyo v39 I can't update the roaming. It starts to but then just hangs up. Help?

What happens if you dial *228, long press menu to bring up the keyboard when the connection occurs to press the number 2.
If that doesn't work, you can nandroid backup, install a stock Eris ROM like xtrSENSE, xtrROM, xtrRCMix, or PlainJane and use that to update the roaming PRL, then Nandroid restore back to Kaos.

I had this problem too, I think it's been working fine on FroShedYo. I always assumed it was just me.
Hold menu to get keyboard to show that's what I do

My friend has an HTC Droid Eris and it was running slow so she did a factory reset through the settings menu and after that she said her phone ran a lot smoother and faster but there's one problem. Her internet is not working and her multimedia messaging isn't working. what should she do to get this fixed? She is on stock 2.1 and her phone is not rooted. Thanks in advance for the help!

If your friend performed a factory reset using the stock 2.1 software then the activation status of the phone was also cleared, and the phone needs to be reactivated.
Dial *228 and select option 1 when prompted.
Well her texts and calls and everything is working. Just not the mms and internet

Text and calls => 1x/RTT
MMS and Internet => Mobile Network
Perhaps she inadvertently toggled off the Mobile network? ( The stock ROMs have a toggle for it not only using either the HTC widget and the Android "Power Controls" widget, but also at the long-press of the End/Power button. )

I'm going to her house in a little bit so I will try both solutions

I tried both solutions, neither of them worked. Should I just root her phone and put a custom rom on it?

I'm guessing some of the data settings somehow got wiped out.
It may be a good idea to call up verizon and get someone in tech support or take the phone to a store. (Not that I don't want to help, there could be a number of problems going on here.)
If data will not work on stock then it will not work for a custom rom.

+1
You could try re-performing the F/R on the off chance something strange happened - and if the mobile network does not come up, call Verizon repair. I would pursue that course of action before I started rooting a phone that seemed to not be working with stock software.

Reflash the rom! You should be good after that. Happened to me on cm7 but I went back to 2.2 after a while.

Are you using an aftermarket launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro?
I'm on trigger and have no problems. Are you sure you cleared cache and wiped data before you flashed the rom?

yes i did that but i dont know why that error keeps on popping out. and this is my first time having an error like that
I am getting the same pop up, and force closes, whenever I try to place a call. Started maybe a week ago or so, and can't recall what may have caused this. Long story short, I've have gone through my contacts an removed any dash, plus, and #1's I could find no luck. Reflashed BionixV1.3.1 and added OVERSTOCK 2.1 and still having call issues. I'm sure it's unrelated to the rom. Any ideas anyone?

Not sure when you guys downloaded it. They could have had a server problem. I would redownload the rom and flash it again. Odin back to stock if needed. I have no issues.
Edit: Have you checked the thread to see if anyone else had that problem?
When all else fails, go extreme.
ODIN to stock, root, wipe, re-download the rom (bad download, did you check the MD5?), then flash again.
The rom is perfect... that I know.
Don't be afraid of going back to stock. very easy. check my signature if you need help.
ok my problem was solved now.. the first thing i did was to odin, then upgraded to 2.2 froyo using mini kies and rooted my phone. and flashed Trigger and works perfectly.. i guess it's Titanium Backup causing the errors. That's why i deleted my old Backups and started a new one..and rebooted my phone ,checked contacts if the error still shows but it was gone already ..
ps: sorry for my bad grammar
I flashed the Neo 16 r2 and phone booted fine. However it acted as if headphones were plugged in when there most defonately not. And remapped my back key to be the home key and I lost function in the back key. Any help would be greatly appreciated

there is no wrong version really im thinking you have an i9000 bootloader instead of a vibrant
Thank you for your help, definately appreciated. I tried flashing the Neo 16 r2 zip w/ led notifications. First boot smooth, on reboot lost baseband so I flashed in kb5 reboot couldn't get data only roaming. So restored, cleaned kernel script with lippo94s kernel script cleaner, installed kernel w/ led. On first boot now have fingers crossed for next reboot.
Any luck i had a similar problem with neo 16r2 but it also rebinded my home key to back and my back key to home and the volume rocker was reversed
UPDATE: never mind used lippos94s script cleaner and neo16r2 w/ led notif and everything is working fine no head phone icon and all keys are mapped normal

re install the kernel that problem should go away
Hey guys,
I have had my Vibrant for about 3 weeks and just started encountering the problem today. I received an MMS but it is stuck in downloading. I had no problems before today, and nothing has changed. I tried rebooting the phone. I tried turning off automatic retrieval and manually downloading the message.
Any suggestions?

I can't send them either
try it with STOCK music player first, then see if it works.
Are you on 3g? Might be an issue when the phone switches between edge and 3g
Yes I'm on 3g with full bars.

Have you tried going to Settings>Applications>Manage applications>click on "all">scrool down and find messaging>clear data. Worth a try.

Have you tried a factory reset or Odin and reflash? Looks like that's what to try next.
Also, when you locate messaging in manage applications there should be an option to turn on compatibility mode. Maybe try that??

Can someone confirm because i have no data plan, i cannot received nor sent picture messages? Thanks.
When I try to activate or update my phone's roaming using *228, I don't have a keyboard to press 1 or 2 on the latest MIUI 1.9.16. All I can do is turn on speakerphone or go back (which effectively ends the call). I've checked with calling other numbers and can bring the keyboard up, etc.
I'm running MIUI 1.9.16 with JT's latest kernel and I have the Extended Settings mod installed.
Any ideas?
When it prompts you, hold the menu button and the keyboard will pop up.
Thanks a bunch. That worked.

It still says activation not successful for me at the end bc theres no finish button.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
I think I read somewhere that that occurs with all MTD based roms. Not sure why, but the activation/roaming actually does take affect even though it says it failed.
Ok that's good to know, thanks
