Seems like there are 2 baseband versions out on 2.1 for our X10's....version 2.0.46 and the newer 2.0.49.
What exactly does it control or do?
I have been playing around with certain flashes and I have been able to install the original 2.1 upgrade (.504) with the newest baseband.
Firmware Version 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: 2.0.49 (<--Originally was 2.0.46)
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
Builld-Number: 2.0.A.0.504
Is there any advantage to this? I have read on other subforums here on XDA that the basebands control battery life as well as other stuff. Since some are saying that the newest X10 firmware (2.0.2.A.024) has better battery life, will the above configuration improve it over the original 2.1 firmware?
BTW.....running original 2.1 firmware with the updated baseband, I am still able to root using the traditional methods (superclick and zroot).

Hey, how were you able to do this? did you just flash the .sin files without installing the update.zip? (I'm guessing you used zdzihu's update method)
I tried updating the rom and I had some issues getting the system to mount as r/w and then the xrecovery menu would stop working, are you having these issues?

That would work too. What I did was take the system.sin file from the X10a .504 upgrade (original 2.1 firmware) and used all other .sin files from the newer X10a 2.1 update. Used x10 flasher to flash my phone and got the above combo.

Now Baseband 2.1.54 is official via SE Update Service - people are grabbing it for Multitouch, I suggest heading back a few steps and looking at how it works on the thread of Root access obtained by Bin4ry.
The Baseband has to match the build and that's about it. There have been lot's of cases of people getting them mixed up by not doing full system restores, which unless you do this, leaves the Baseband in place and flashes newer build files over the top and they conflict. - match - not - Got me yesterday with TripNRaveRS Gingerbread 2.3.1 v1.1 (now obsoleted to 1.3) and allowing the 2.1.A.0.435 to be flashed by SE Update when things got screwy and I needed to Flash back - out... there was no way of doing this so what happened was I became stuck without any Baseband matching 24 rom / the 2.3.1 Gingerbread rom.. in fact - it basicly forced me to eventually do a full restore just to get away from the 2.1.54 Baseband as it isn't compatible with 90% of anything made to date - lol -
Here is the architecture of the Android "Radio Layer Interface" - core Telephony provider layout and extrapolation.

from this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717949
I am downloading the file. Couple of quick quries. May be dumb questions but I am not tech type of person.
Is it simple to update the firmwre? Is any problem after updating the software? I mean if it is not official for my phone brand.
That was quick!
Where did you get this from? Is the update out for Generic Global?

Before my update my previous firmware was the Global Generic R2BA026. Ran SEUS this morning and got an update. It can't be the Nordic one since I didn't come from a Nordic firmware..

And not that it's going to make a difference but I'd just like to add that way back then before going to Global Generic R2BA026 I came from the older Global Generic and then updated to R2BA026 Global generic via SEUS.
I was gonna try to debrand to Nordic this morning but luckily decided to check via PCC (no go) and then I tried with SEUS and just got an update.
@ojpd
Thats exactly what mines says after flashing it with the Global Firmware from this thread.
I will upload the decrypted firmware when i get home as uploading is restricted at work thats if Bin4ry doesnt get there before me lol..
I flashed directly to R2BA026 with the X10Flash tool... maybe its the reason because i dont have any update.
And its also in spanish?
@pablots
After updating to 2.1 this morning the phone booted using Filipino/Tagalog as it's default language in SE setup wizard part.

Dude i think you should try again to update it to 2.1 version using Bin4ry flash tool...that will provide you root access.
Here's the link-:
Pro: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826455
Mini: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825664
In order to use the flasher just try these steps:
1)Download SEUS and Pc Companion and connect the phone with them at least once (just connect)
2)Make sure you have the latest java installed on your pc.
3)Download the flasher from Bin4ry (Just make sure you've downloaded the mini and not the mini pro edition).
4)Download from the same thread a Generic 2.0.A.0.504 FW and put the folder with the .sin files inside the flashtool's directory.
5)Run the flashtool, press flash and then choose the name of the folder, where the .sin files are in.
6)While the phone is off, keep the back button pressed and connect on usb until the green light is on.

Hi to all X10 Mini developers and users!
I don't keep track of X10 Mini ROMs development, however I've seen that some of ROMs require either baseband 006 or 015...
So here they are... I'm still looking for E10a firmwares, so if you have them, send me the links.
Kernel and baseband are related to each other, so if you have baseband 006, you'll have 2.0.2.A.0.24 kernel, and with baseband 015 you'll get 2.1.1.A.0.6 kernel.
If you try to flash latest kernel to phone with baseband 006, you'll get infinite boot loops. This can be fixed by simply flashing correct bundle (kernel/baseband).
This will NOT wipe userdata!
All basebands collected so far, and some other stuff, are in Xperia folder on Mediafire.
E10i
Baseband 006 - kernel 2.0.2.A.0.24 - uploaded - waiting for tester
Baseband 015 - kernel 2.1.1.A.0.6 - uploaded - waiting for tester
E10a
E10a 2.0.2.A.0.24 firmware => baseband 006 - searching for
E10a 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware => baseband 015 - searching for
I need someone who is going to flash all four baseband to check if phone boots - flashing E10a baseband on E10i phone should result in loss of 3G in Europe, and vice-versa, until correct baseband (a/i) is flashed back - nothing bad will happen to your phone, I can tell you from my own experience with testing basebands for X8.
Enjoy

Hello sathkartha,
The only difference between it and a global firmware is the apn setting (ready for Wind GR) and the choice to send 160 character SMS. Apart from that, it has every language that a generic firmware includes.
Regards, D_d
It doesn't matter is firmware branded or not for me... baseband is universal and doesn't depend on phone's branding...

did you change your build prop or did SE enable jit?
Seems like they are partially taking the hard work from xda and make their updates based on that ?!?
I don't think there is a way that SE enabled Jit. So my guess is that n4s installed a custom.zip in his 0.24 firmware that, along Jit, also changed his firmware version number. So, probably he is still in 0.24, and the phone asks to be upgraded to .06.
well n4s upate your phone and then we will see if is new fimware available. this is the ony way to see what kind of update is.
but I do not think there is anything new
sory for bad english
Few days ago I updated my phone with SEUS to last available version. The version is 2.1.1.A.0.6 not 16 (my mistake)
Then I installed xRecovery, JIT, Multitouch and App2sd.
I really don't want to update because I will need to install everything again and if it's a real new update I can end in a version with no root available.
So if nobody is getting this warning it should be a problem in my U20i files, I don't think SE would make an update only for me!
Thank you
It available in China.
Ok, so XDA has done so much for me that I decided to go for the update (with seus) to let XDA know if a new version is available.
It's really a new version but with same baseband.
I was able to root, xRecover and app2sd.
I don't know what changed but now I have "AXN player"
I was not able to install Multitouch so I tried to revert back to 06 version but same thing:
insmod: init_module '/sdcard/cy8ctma300_ser.ko' failed (File exists)
I'm very sad because multitouch was great!
well, have you flashed an other version baseband?it looks very strange to me
i found these

When ever I try to flash from GB to GB - i get a bootloop. I suggest you go back to froyo and then to KPN.
I had KPH installed - went back to froyo - upgraded to KPN then installed CW4.0.0.9 and flashed FlashX2 then X2.2.
The phone is behaving beautifully and I dont get any of the reported problems with SOD.
Good luck with your endeavours.
@Baracs
May you tell me what froyo firmware you used (or a link perhaps will be of much help). I am afraid to brick this phone. So that I can follow the same path as you did. I hope you would tell me.
Thanks

You have to be registered to enter it - but thats easy.
Then navigate to the asia section and compare the codes of your phone against the codes of the files there.
This seems to be the main repository of files.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tip. I bricked my phone 3 times. And now I am running Fla.sh x2.3
I have had 2 motorola and was waiting to upgrade to atrix in 4 months and decided to buy a galaxy ace. Went to buy it PAYG on 3 but the shop did not have any in stock.
They sold me a unlocked phone for £175.00 and Im loving it.
Motorola when bricked are hard to get back - samsungs are dead easy(no pun intended). I also have bricked it 3 times - I had it rooted within 30 minutes of buying it and KPH within the hour.
Glad to be of help.
here is a Quadrant Score benchmark.

The phone is behaving beautifully and I dont get any of the reported problems with SOD.
Good luck with your endeavours.

Same problem with bootloop, but flashing a second time always fixed it .
Any SOD experience on Fla.sh x2.3? If yes, how to revert back to 2.2? Thanks!
just reflash the main file and the 2.2 update using CWM recovery.
I did not have SOD with 2.3 just lost the APN settings - but 2.2 is working a dream for me and my quadrant score is 1501 so very happy.
