Kinda dissappointed that it's not dual core, but i'm still fairly interested in the device. Time to open up a thread??
I was disappointed as well. But then again, I think HTC is flexing their muscles at maybe MWC this coming February. There hasn't been a true successor to the HD2, yet (just a lot of 'cousins' and 'brothers' ala EVO, DHD, thunderbolt, etc). Hopefully they'll put the new Snapdragon QSD8672 1.5ghz dual-core in there with an even thinner body.
One can hope, right?
Not my first choice for a new device, but I will be on board at least until I can get my hands on a bionic.
I hope we can assume HTC will continue the trend of not nandlocking their newest phones.
I'm not really bothered by it not being dual core. I sold my galaxy s in anticipation and it was plenty fast after custom rom and kernel with lag fixes. I know we'll have a 1.2 ghz rom in no time.
Honestly, who cares about dual core. 1ghz single core phones right now are running just fine without lag. I'm in for this phone for 3 things...
1. 4G LTE
2. It's an HTC Phone with a big screen
3. Getting rid of the Droid X's camera hump.
is there a gsm version of this phone? AT&T are starting their LTE services this year. I'm also disappointed about it not being a dual core.
How much longer do you guys think we will have to wait for the Thunderbolt??? Feb. or later??

I would think it would be pretty quick, given that the phone is so similar to the DHD and EVO.
I'd prefer a dual core device, but I'll watch the Thunderbolt to see how it pans out. An open Thunderbolt would be preferable to a locked Bionic, IMHO.

Att and verizon are gonna use the same frequency and lte requires sim cards so maybe you can just get a 4g att plan and slide it right in...after the proper (if any) unlock is done

Desire HD same specs and everything, albeit no front facing camera. Samething with the HTC Inspire 4G coming out on ATT, it's not LTE, but HSPA+ since ATTs LTE isn't anywhere near ready and they need to start saying they have 4G or people will leave.

Hi, Can you please post the source?
I currently have an iphone 3gs with AT&T but I plan on switching to an Android Phone and going with a different carrier. I am very interested in the HTC Thunderbolt, Inspire, and the EVO 4G. I will most likely switch to Verizon which means that I am greatly looking forward to the release of the HTC Thunderbolt .
I can also add that the launch date is Feb 14th.

As a Fascinate user, was planning on getting the Bionic as I was at first disapointed with Samsung's lack of support, issues, etc. But the screen, codecs, weight, and such all won me over, and I can't wait to get the SGSII. Hopefully its coming to Verizon with an Exynos processor and Mali GPU.....
How bout everyone else?

I think most of the people who have posted on SII subforum will be getting it.
Though if its delayed some might switch to a phone thats already out or wait and see what the iPhone5 brings to the table (which i will be doing if it doesnt come out this month or early May.

I am still not sure{using N1 for close to 14months now},will decide depending on how well HTC Sensation turns out{announcement might come on 12th April}
LG Optimus 2X{already available here & is surprisingly cheaper than SE Xperia Arc & Xperia Play} vs SGS 2 vs HTC Sensation will be my choices.But right now my first preference will be HTC Sensation{aka HTC Pyramid}
I can upgrade any time I want to, so I can't wait to buy it when it comes out! I was a bit disappointed with the Tegra2, so right now is a good time to see the other dual cores coming out.
Oh, and the fact that Galaxy phones are made in Korea makes me swell with pride, so that's another factor in buying the SGSII.

I was an early adopter for the original SGS and got slightly burnt by the annoying lag with Samsung's official ROM. Luckily there are some great people on XDA and a lot of effort has gone into creating a much better custom ROM.
Although everything about the SGS2 sounds great, I think I'll hang back by a month or two until I've ready the initial reviews and customer experiences (hopefully benefit from a reduced price from the original launch price).
I'm definitely getting one, to replace a rather old Sanyo SCP-8400. I've had the SGS2 on pre-order since March 18...
I've also preordered mine on Amazon.de. I trust the xda devs will come through, as they most often do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but HTC Sensation specs aren't better than SGS2, even though it's been announced after SGS2... Where is the NFC, for example ? What's really unique in Sensation? SGS2 has some cool gyroscope functions, for example.
Ill certainly be getting this device WHEN its launched......

Nope... if we continue to wait for the next big thing in technology, how can we ever enjoy any of it? The evolution of phones is moving very fast... as soon as you get your hands on this new 1.4 ghz phone they will be releasing notes on the even newer 2ghz phone of the future.... I am excited to get my hands on this device and will hold on to it until my next upgrade is available, gives me something to look forward to without having to focus on each new thing out there!
There's already quad core phones coming out by q4 2011.

Well I don't have yearly upgrades, and would like to have a phone that could potentially last for 22 months. Will the 3d be able to do that?

I can agree that if we just keep waiting for the "NEXT BIG THING," we'll never really get a chance to enjoy what's now. Think of it this way, you have a phone that's less than a week old, so you're doing pretty good. Will this phone last for a while? Sure, I think it will. But this is coming from me, who just upgraded from a HERO. So, I think I can hold onto this phone until my next upgrade (1 year from June 24th.)

I can say quite positively that you added nothing to this post, and only took away from it. Maybe it was not "smart" or "high quality", but you just decreased the intelligent level of the conversation. Thank you for that.
I agree with everyone. I am not a tech junkie, I don't have to have the best of the best. I am a graduate student in neurology. I also have a lot a bit of experience in computer programming. I actually used my Org Evo to interface with research equipment and analysis data. Well the software we use continues to advance and demands better phones. So I am just trying to future proof myself in that area. I am trying to make sure the phone's hardware is all that it is suppose to be. If my original evo was up to par, I would still be using that.
I believe that it is. I honestly believe, based off an in depth talk with a gentleman whose entire career is based on developing microchips like the one we see in our phones. He is adamant that the newest generation of qualcomm (spelling) processors are the best he has seen in a phone this far.
Anyway, that combined with the reputation HTC has, the 3vo seems like a great bet.
lol, this is the age old question for tech Buy something that just came out, or wait for something better coming out later
If you go with the attitude to wait, then why not wait forever and get nothing I mean lets say you hold off on the EVO-3D, and wait for the slightly better Galaxy S2, but don't get that the Nexus-4.0 will be even better than the Galaxy S2, but wait, the Nexus-4.0 will be trumped by the best yet Galaxy S3 due next spring per Samsung, but wait the Galaxy S3 will be outdone by the EVO-Three.
What if while waiting for the next best thing, you get killed in a car wreck tomorrow, thus never enjoying the cool tech we have right here, right now.
Oh yeah, the words "Future Proof" lol uh no such thing...
To the OP -
What people have said in this thread makes perfect sense. If you wait for THOSE phones there will be even better ones around the corner in the future too. So you would simply be right back in the same situation.
I can see the 3vo being the 2nd legit 22 month phone. the og Evo being the 1st.
Like others have said you can't keep waiting or you'll never get. As for a 1.4 dual. Meh what's it really going to do that your 1.2's can't do? well outside of increase your penis size in a pissing match. Heck thats about all the quad cores are going to do too.
phones are advancing too fast. there is hardly anything out there that will take full advantage of the dual core phones. i think getting the 3vo would be fine because it will take a bit before developers catch up with it and by then you'll be due for an upgrade.
will be returning evo 3D. Its no diff from EVO 4G besides the 3D and the dual core. waiting for samsung gs2 or Motorola Photon.

Yeah the QHD screen, the better form factor on the body of the phone, double the ram, 4 times the internal storage (this will matter a lot more when we have root and custom roms), the actual camera button, the newer build, second microphone for noise cancelling. You're right the Evo 4G had all of those.
only thing thats making me more and more want to return the phone is..
its not that I don't believe HTC will unlock the phone...
its how many good Dev's are we losing in the meantime?
So, the HTC Rezound (aka Vigor is out). The Phone has a 720p 4.3 inch SLCD which produces very crisp and high pixel density impressions. It runs on 1.5 ghz dual core, 1 Gb, Beats enabled and has 32 GB memory.. 16Gb inbuilt and 16 Gb Sd card ( i say beats is non sense.).
The body design is a lot like the original Droid Incredible, with red trim, haptic navigation buttons and interior. When you take off the backplate of this phone, it’s all red.
and yes it has gingerbread with ics promised in 2012 early. The phone looks stunning.

no but I remember the droid incredible... (had it for a year) was always updated. My friend had a samsung captivate on att, which he bought after the Dinc had been out a few months, and I always had a more updated version of android. He switched to Verizon after the experience .
And with HTC and verizon publicly announcing their commitment to upgrade and update this device, It seems like a no brainer.
Are you suggesting that with the eris they said explicitly it would get 'X' updates and they never lived up to that?
You don't need to worry about the update schedule, that is what XDA is for. The Devs here will make the updates available for you before they are released to the public.
Can't wait to switch over to Verizon for this! US Cellular is terrible and their phone selection is poor.
Finally I can get a flagship phone for the same price as a midrange on US Cell

HTC just announced one of the most highly-talked about devices during Mobile World Congress. Usually, we won’t see new phones from that show launch for several months. It’s sort of a preview of what’s to come, if you will. Today, a second report surfaced saying that TSMC, the alleged maker of the chips used for the phone, has halted production of its chips as of mid-February. So what? That’s before the phone was even announced. We don’t even have expectations yet as to when it will hit the market. Delayed? Not at all. Maybe TSMC hit a speed bump when it came to 28nm chip demand, but without a solid date provided by HTC already it’s hard to believe that there’s any delay at all. The One X will hit the market when it’s ready, and that’s good for consumers. We shouldn’t be covering stories in a negative light, which ultimately might lead consumers to think there’s something wrong with the phone, when there fundamentally isn’t.
just a shout out for people who thought it might come out soon.
there was a rumor that T-mo would be getting a Tegra 3 One X. It will be interesting to see how that is affected by these delays.

It's likely that if T-mobile gets a version, they'll get a Tegra 3 variant, instead of an MSM 8960 one. Although, Tegras actually don't have on-chip radio hardware.
I saw that on Phone GSM the phones Theoretical release date was April. IDK if it will even effect the release date. I have seen Jet Engines get halted in production and they can still roll out about a solid 1000 aircraft on release date... As to its not coming soon they could no something that we don't it could still be on a timely release.

lol true, I honestly don't care, im probably not going to buy the s4 version or even the tegra version. the mobile market is getting huge this year and the only thing on these phones that has caught my attention is the camera, software, and the polycarbonate design. other then that I have my eyes on the asus padfone, Panasonic eluga, and whenever nokia gets further into its pureview technology on upcoming WP update. im just going to wait and see what comes out later on if Sony decides to make a devices with 2012 hardware I would be sold in a heartbeat
I'd say it'd be awfully silly of nvidia not to consider designing for DC-HSDPA. LTE is understandable. This, less so.

im not going to wait for next gen, we probably wont be seeing next gen ones in a long while anyways (unless you're talking about the exynos). im a huge fan of the tegra 3 and the technology NVidia put in it. they failed with the tegra 2 but stepped up their game with this. you can stream skyrim with NO lag at all from your computer with this chip, that's pretty good. im just not a huge fan of the devices that are coming out, im gonna wait till it hits more handsets.

if you ever had the atrix.... the screen was horrid, the fact that I had the first "qHD" phone made me happy but it looked worse than my old mytouch 3g. you could actually see the pixels. I honestly didn't know one person who liked it. whenever I upgraded to the sensation the difference was night and day. I don't see why htc would pick pentile. pentile displays have less sub-pixels which makes it pointless to be even called qHD.
edit: just remembered, the only good thing about pentile is that its good on battery life. id rather have not grainy pictures though. guess that my opinion. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/2...x2-and-its-qhd-display-pentile-at-its-finest/
Why can't HTC give the right time and effort to one model instead of burning out the current ones so fast?
why releasing the One X+ so fast, I think this is very bad policy
I think, that they are trying to follow SGS3. They made same with Sensation. First was Sensation, then Sensation XE. It is shame for top device.
http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-x-plus/
I know, it really isn't enough of an upgrade to warrant a new model.. I left HTC because of unnecessary new models when I had my sensation but I thought things would be difference with the One series. I think the yearly upgrade cycle that Samsung and Apple uses is the best for customers, otherwise the phones just lose value so quickly.

I left HTC too. I have SGS3 and I am more than happy. Always have had problems with HTC. BTW I was long time HTC user. Since Diamond times.
Meh, it's not LTE so I don't care...

I am sure they will come out with an LTE version here in the States. The bigger battery is nice, and I am curious to see if the LTE signal issue has been fixed.

Meh, it's not LTE so I don't care...
I do see your point though - why bother with a flagship when you're going to outdate it in like 6 months...
I would of liked the 2100mAh battery though...

Actually it does have LTE. That is the main selling point of this version of the Tegra3, is that it finally gets its LTE radio. A variant of this passed through the FCC 2 weeks ago bound for AT&T.

I don't dig the black and red. White is still the best, imo.
I am sure they will come out with an LTE version here in the States. The bigger battery is nice, and I am curious to see if the LTE signal issue has been fixed.

I can answer this. You can't fix stupid! That's the reason.

Smartphones and tablets are now in the same phase PCs were in 10 years ago, where you buy the top of the line and it's outdated in two months. You can't expect your phone to be the best forever. I welcome this, it means there is fierce competition and we'll have more awesome devices to choose from. Not to mention the One XL is still a top end device and will be among the best for another year or so.
Guys. if 1.5 Ghz quad core tegra is slower than our 1.5 Ghz dual core, who's to say that it will have any noticeable bump to the 1.7 Ghz quad core. Especially now that we can overclock our S4's. Plus since we're dual core, it is easier for us to overclock to higher frequencies. The only real benefit I see of this version is the increased battery and the red button lights

and 64gb internal storage. that and hte battery are the only reasons i'm a sad panda right now. forget the tegra 3 chip. i have one in my prime and my HOX flies past the prime without breaking a sweat :\
I wonder if all those smart a*** complaining about dublicated threads are smart enough to notice that search in XDA was down for few days now.

Still doesn't stop you, or anyone else, from looking at the current threads. Search is a tool, not a be-all-end-all of what threads exist.
On topic:
The HOX+ shouldn't be affecting anyone here, unless you really want to be that bleeding edge. I hate to say it, but this HOX+ is to the HOX as the iPhone5 is to the iPhone4S. I don't care what reviewers and HTC say, this is an incremental update, not a groundbreaking innovation; that's what the HOX was.

Agreed. Love my One X, doesn't see anything in the One X+ that makes me regret my purchase.
There will always be something better in 6-8 months. Always.
