fare thee well - Droid Eris General

I sadly lost my droid eris back on new years eve (party of course...) and have been a week or so without a phone. Thankfully a coworker did some work with Adobe, and they sent him 2 free Droid 2s so he could develop apps for it, I bought one of them from him.
So I'll be spending most of my time on xda over there now... if I find my droid eris I might come back and be a decent alpha tester lol.
I'm hoping to grab the thunderbolt when it comes out, maybe we will see each other in the future.

I will trade an Eris for a Droid 2. Hey I had to try.

That's exactly what im looking to do. Im just gonna buy a thunderbolt and keep my eris to test any software I might wanna try on the tb

Where's the love in DX FORUM?

I miss the eris community. The DX part of XDA is dead. If any eris developers switch over to the x. I'm dYing for something to flash over to worth while!

Wow, and I was worried all of our ROM devs were leaving. Sadly despite the size the Droid X looks like one of the best phones out there right now for Verizon.
Its a nasty fast device, but on the geek side. No custom kernels yet so limited to how custom a rom can get. They have some nice blurless roms that are fast. But non worth leaving stock for, I have over-clocked to 1.35ghz and I get to play the playstation fairly errorless. But still not my eris.

I agree the eris section was much more lively...even the forums are dead...I miss my eris :'(

Is buying a Fascinate still worth it?

Hey Guys! I'm visiting from the Droid X forums wondering about a certain idea i have been thinking about for a while....
The droid X has been plagued since its conception by its locked bootloader. Even though the dev field has made aw esome strides with this device (2nd-init)(Don't worry if you dont know what that is), we still have to rely on Moto giving us updated kernels. We do have Gingerbread, but the Droid X will likely never see ICS.
I really dont feel like buying a brand new phone for a while, mostly because im friggin broke lol. One of my best buddies has a Captivate, and I love the ease of use when it comes to flash-ability and complete control of the phone, especially with the unbrickable mod! With all these pluses, and the fact that since the Fascinate is a Galaxy S phone, with the same internals as the Nexus S, I'm fairly sire that the phone will get ICS some how.
I already have a used phone I have found that a guy is selling for really cheap. Depending on its condition, would you say its a good buy?
Thanks is advance!
Tony

Ill keep that in mind if this one doesn't work out. Thanks!
Anyone else have thoughts?
Yes the fascinate is still worth buying if you can score one for a 100bucks. development is still going fairly strong for being over a year old.
I think the Fascinate is a great phone. I'm sure we'll be seeing ICS not too long after the source drops. Just like droidstyle said, if you can find one that cheap, I'd do it. I bought mine back in the summer for $200 and haven't regretted it yet..... This upgrade I have is burning a hole in my pocket though... Damned Galaxy Nexus! XD
Yes
The fascinate is still hands down a very powerful phone. My buddy just got the Droid Bionic and it only gets average 25 fps in quadrant scores. My fascinate gets about 50 or more. So, yes it is still an awesome phone.
verizon sent me a droid x2 to replace another fascinate I had. what a piece of **** ..I bought a new fascinate a couple months back and luv it

I love mine as well. It has one of the best screens and graphics accelerators there is. The screen isn't too big and not too small. It isn't really thick so it slips in the pocket really nice. It is also a great looking phone.

Farewell Droid X2 Community, and thanks!

Yesterday I decided to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Thus far I am very pleased with my upgrade. An easily unlocked bootloader makes all the difference to me. I just wanted to take this time to say thank you to all the devs that have worked so hard on the Droid X2 and to the community that has been such a great help to myself and others.
Good luck your going to love the nexus father just got one. I love it in the next month or so I'm leaving the x2 for a nexus as well.

I just left the DX2 for a Galaxy Nexus as well, and it's a huge improvement.
Enjoy your GNex!
Yea my father is really rubbing it in my face right now such a nice phone i honestly thought it was going to be way bigger but its really a decent size and it feels a lot lighter then the x2
January 26th and I'm outie, heading to the nexus. You guys have been awesome.

Sadly I'm out as well. Added another line so that I could get the Rezound, so I'll still have have the X2. I may play around with some roms from time to time. Thanks to nitro for his awesome work, as well as the rest of the devs!

Just talked with verizon...again. Need your help guys.

I've been having issues with network here in Scarborough Maine. At first Verizon was quick to help but after 2-3 months of trying to get them to fix it its like they are trying to ignore me. Also, this is after 2 replacement phones. So today I called back and they said my network ticket had been.....RESOLVED??!! Hmm this is the first I heard of it and obviously not since I'm still having speed issues. So I got transferred to tech support and they offered to give me a different model. She said no iPhone (I laughed and said that's fine I hate apple junk) and no 4G phones (dammit). So she gave me two phones that she "recommends" a Casio commander and an HTC rhyme....WTF!!?? So I kinda giggled and said I don't think those will work for ME. So I guess I'm allowed any current 3G phone on their website, I want suggestions from you guys annnnnd go!

great phone. single core but has a really good dev community. has more ram too, if im not mistaken. also has REALLY stable ics roms like cm9, aokp, miui, a sense 4 rom, paranoid, geeze theres alot of roms!
They gave me a Dinc2 and I love it. Just be aware the newer software on the phones are making it more dificult to downgrade to get s off. Which gives you perm root. When they downgrade with the newer software version sense roms bootloop. People are working on it and it is ongoing. AOSP roms will work fine like CM7 and CM9 or any aosp ICS rom.
jesus, verizon put up a helluva fight but after fighting with them tooth and nail for over 45 minutes, I am now the proud owner of a droid incredible 2. My time in the droid x 2 forums has been great everybody here has been extremely helpful in any issues or questions I've had. And as for the developers, thank you so very much for making this phone at all usable and enjoyable. Of course I will still be browsing through these forums because my roommate has the x2 but my time here has come to an end. moving on to bigger and better things!!! See you all on the flip side, actually, who am I kidding I will still be on these damn x2 forums everyday lol

well..... the rezound doesnt have any of those roms. We dont have a stable CM9 or AOKP. there are some but they are REALLY alpha (like no talk, texting, wifi, 3g/4g, etc) it pretty much boots. Although, there are some good roms. the one im running is Desensed, meaning there is less sense but its still there.
I actually went from resound to Droid x2 lol. So many issues with my resound. Besides ram issues I love dx2

Youch. Not sure if the X2 could be considered to be better. At least, not from my experience!
Music on the X2 is awful. It constantly skipped and the 512mb of memory just doesn't cut it. If you're not using it for music, it's not bad, but as an MP3 player, wow. Poor, poor design.
But, if it's doing better than the resound, all the more power to yah! There are plenty of helpful people here with a lot of knowledge.
Enjoy!
Ugh guys, I've kinda gotten attached to my X2. I was looking through the Incredible 2 forums and it looks like I have a lot to learn lol

The X2 is losing people literally everyday. Congrats of the new device. Funny cause I still use my X2 everyday. My 4G signal is extremely iffy in my gym (and the wifi is un-useable) so when it goes out, no music and no Netflix. I whip out my X2 that now holds all my music internally and I'm all good.

I might just buy a cheap X2 in a while so I can keep screwing around with it, DzK's ICS has a lot of potential, it will only get better with time as he hacks the **** out of it lol

New phone

Hello people of XDA,
I have had my tbolt since release date and always loved it and never had any problems with it, the 2 years is up and I don't know what to do, I want to get a new phone but there's none that a really want, I'm still playing the waiting game for fully working ics on tbolt but, I'm sick of waiting, what do u people think I should, get a new phone, or wait to see what HTC suprises Verizon with?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Shop around for what you're interested in.
I personally still love my tbolt and am not really interested in anything else yet either.
If you have unlimited data, I would stick with the tbolt for right now. Things should get more interesting once ICS is released and we get some new ROMs.

I'm gonna wait a little while, I still love my tbolt and have no problems keeping it but I'm really interested in what HTC will give Verizon next since sprint just got the stunning new evo, with a 4.7 inch screen and the dual core snapdragon processer, I hope we get something that good.

True man. We will see.
My buddy has the HTC One X and that phone is pretty awesome. If only those things had a place for an SD card... and if Verizon carried them, of course. Lol.
Hopefully we get something good.

hopefully, HOPEFULLY!
