help needed
i just installed the 2.2 beTA2 on my x10.
i am trying to restore the data from 2.1,but im unsuccessful.
plsss help
You'll get FC.. don't restore.
I'm having the same issue.
I don't really care about the apps i used to have installed, I care about my phone contacts and messages. Is there anyway to keep/restore them after flashing to a 2.2 ROM?

Just like tehouster said, you will have FC's and you might end up in a boot loop. If you read the thread regarding ROM installation, you will find the developers cautioning you about the effects of restoring data from eclair 2.1 to froyo 2.2
Cheers!

I'm currently using the ewjet Rom with custom kernel which is really good. I miss/need the stock 2.1 (b.0.1?) Keyboard, browser and launcher system apks as i don't really like the ones that come with ewjet.
I'm currently away from my pc for a week and don't have any means of flashing the original 2.1b firmware to try and copy the apps. I'm not even sure if I have to use that specific firmware or would any other 2.1 apk work? I have actually googled all 3 apks but none work :-( is anyone able to help by attaching them or know what I can do. ThAnks

That's why it is important to back up before flashing onto a new ROM. Anyways here it is..
If I'm right, text input is the default android keyboard..
Hi!
Moving over from Desire to SGS2 and I'm excited
Couldnt find a Q-thread on Lite'ning-ROM (as I dont want to ask in dev-thread), so here goes:
After flashing latest 1.3, I get force close on:
com.google.process.gapps
and some more apps like Handcent
Tried wiping cache but no luck..
Any ideas?
If there's a thread I missed out on - plz feel free to delete!
Oh strange, I don't have this problem at all. My advice would be backup all user apps with Titanium Backup and wipe the whole thing.
I hope someone smarter than me can help .

Often fix that sort of problem with a factory reset .

Yep, I believe that would sort it also, but ROM-chef states that wipe etc isnt necessary, so if I can avoid a factory reset I would be happy
can i ask those who are on Lite'ning Rom 1.3, can you list all the apps it has stripped? I went to the Lite'ning Rom 1.3 dev page and its a massive 138 pages of info. So far i have memo, wifi sharing as the apps stripped from this rom. Could the OP or anyone list all the apps stripped so i know what to backup before updating from KE7?
thanks heaps

Did you do a nandroid backup before flashing? What Kernel were you using?
I had some FC's when I flashed it but that was because I had some incompatible mods (black phone dialer, black in call) that were for KE7.

Do a nandroid, see whats missing, and then go back if not satisfied/make list of apps to back up
I flashed this on mySGII and I dont think any app was removed afaik!
I didn't have Handecent installed though; so I cant confirm that!
If this is going to be the Question thread for Lite'ning then I'll re-post my issue;
I flashed Litepro's Lite'ning ROM v1.1 a week or so ago and it caused Flash content in the browser to jump and move about whilst scrolling. When still, the content played fine, but the effect when scrolling is very ugly as you can end up with a flash banner accross what you're trying to read.
I went back to stock ROM and all was back to normal.
I've put v1.2 on hoping that the Flash problem might have been noticed and fixed but it's not.
Installed 1.3 and now want to go back
Hi Guys,
I am sorry for this stupid question but I am extremely new to this and have no idea anymore what I'm doing. I was wondering if there was a way to remove this rom and go back to the original one. Is there a way I can go back to the original way I received it. I thought flashing XWKE8 with PDA will return me back back to the original stock
You can find all the orginal stock roms & kernels here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Flash them with Odin like you did for Lite'ning
I tried wiping everything, but no luck
I tried flashing XWKE7 Stock Kernel, but no luck
Only way is perhaps to unroot and start over?

what i did was use titanium backup to backup all the system apps (e.g. memo, wifi sharing etc)
so after flashing to litepro 1.3 and i want to put some of these apps back, will it work?

Is their a specific way I have to do it? flashing XWKE8 by PDA doesn't seem to remove Lightening 1.3. I just want the original SII with CF-Root 3.7.

I used this one:
CWP UK:**cant post url yet :S**
MD5: A5A59AE6374C7FC814E8901B40F7C8AA
I just flashed it as a PDA as per the normal instruction and it seemed to work fine. All apps and data were intact.
Hope it works

Last question, I know this sounds n00bish but what is CWP? Is it stock kernel because I tried flashing that and still no luck. I heard I have to flash a bare nandroid backup. Anyone know where I can get those?

I like to follow up if anyone else is having the same issue:
had no choice but to unroot. The reflashed from beginning and that solved it!

I don't know, I'm a noob too! All I know is that I was able to flash that and my GS2 was back to stock (as far as I could tell) and Lite'ning was gone. All apps and settings remained.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Is there a reliable way to back-up the default Froyo ROM yet? I would like to give Gingerbread a try, but only if I can back up the official Froyo ROM with confidence ... Thanks in advance for any thoughts ...

Download latest FROYO (official samsung) from samfirmware.com and you safe to go.
Cheers
I'd prefer to backup the entire rom if possible, i.e. including apps and data. So that if I have limitations with Gingerbread, I can put my phone back to how it is now, with one click ... ?

You could check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121192
or
use titanium backup in combination with latest froyo firmware from samfirmware.com
I have a custom rom (Omega v6.0) and franco's kernel.. The phone wants to upgrade now (I froze the update thingie with titanium backup before it started downloading) so I was wondering will it screw anything up if I do? Unroot it? Do something with the rom or kernel? Or can I go right ahead? Thanks
Bump
There are many threads about it.
Yes it will unroot your phone.
Yes you will loose all and any modifications Omega brought or you patched yourself.
Yes you will loose all System apps Omega brought.
If you have a custom recovery the update should fail to install.
Sorry if this have been brought up before, I tried to find something but I guess my search skills are lacking. Thanks for the answers.
Another question; How important are these updates? When I install a new version of Omega it wipes everything anyway right? And the OTA or the significant updates may be included in that new custom rom, correct?
Sorry, first smartphone here

No need to be sorry, search kind of sucks anyways.
Yes your custom ROM will likely be patched to include any beneficial changes
Superb. Thanks
