[Q] - Thumbnails in mediascape do not match the file - Solution Found - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I'm having an strange issue within mediascape....pictures and videos have the wrong thumbnail associated with them. DSC_0943.jpg is the right picture when opened, but has the thumbnail of DSC_0798.jpg, etc.....
im running 2.0.2.A.0.24 pre-rooted zdzihu ROM, fairly stock at the moment.
first up - i searched for this before and found only 1 similar thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830186) but there was no real answer. Let me tell you what i have tried so far....
* renamed /sdcard/android/data/com.coolris.media/cache and rebooted phone (renamed cache to cache.old and on reboot new cache folder was created - problem still remains
* settings > applications > manage applications > (view all) mediascape - clear data and rebooted - problem remains
* cleared cache partitions in xrecovery menu
still stuck with the wrong thumbs. how to i force it to recreate the thumbnail files and where are they located (does not appear to be in the com.coolris.media/cache folder)
EDIT - Found my own answer, posted below.

solution found
lol never mind, i just worked it out.
i was using EStrong Filemanager to look for thumbnail folders.
Solution:
Use ROOT EXPLORER and browse to /sdcard/DCIM/ and rename (or delete) the .thumbnails folder.
reopen mediascape and all thumbs are regenerated.

Great job man... I had this problem too...

mediascape thumbnail problems!

I have searched hi and lo but can't work this out!
I have 330 music files on my sd card, and each time i open mediascape a few of them have an album art image associated with them, but i can't find the files to delete them!!
I have tried the 'dcim / thumbs' file, i have cleared cashe for mediascape and media storage and any other thumbnail files i could find - but some of them still persist!! I have disabled artwork downloads for mediascape and poweramp so it's not that they are coming back, i just can't find them anywhere!!!
i have also used root explorer to search for '.jpg/.jpeg and thumb' but still cannot find these images!!
Any ideas greatly appreciated!!!!
I have also now tried with a different memory card, just with the songs that keep appearing with thumbs/album art.. and there still there!!! baffled :/
resolved.
images were embedded meta-data, removed with NCH "stamp id3 tag editor"
Thanks to 'SoftWyer' for the suggestion on 'Android Forums' x10 thread.
Sorry, this was a dumb Q in the first place, but you don't know - until you know!

[Q] .nomedia file

Alright, so I've read just about every article and I can't figure out how to remove certain images from the android gallery. I've attempted to add a .nomedia file to the folder in which the unwanted pictures are located but they still appear in the gallery. I believe the issue lies within the fact that the art is rooted deep within the directories.
Example:
3OH!3 > *Album Name* > *Artwork*
I would like to simply add a file on the higher level to prevent all folders from appearing in gallery. I don't want to go into each individual folder and create a .nomedia file, that's absurd.
Can anyone help me before I pull out more of my hair?
You need to create a .nomedia file and then force a rescan (.nomedia does apply to all sub-folders). Worst case, you'll need to clear the application data and then reboot (which actualy isn't that bad).
After you create the .nomedia file, there's an app called SDrescan that I use to trigger a rescan, but that only applies to Internal Storage. On the other hand, if it's the microSD, you should just be able to pop it out and pop it back in to force a rescan.
If none of that works, go to Settings → Applications → Manage applications → All, Media Storage, I think it was?, then Clear Data. Reboot. You should now be good.
I can't offer any help in this but I just had to comment....great band choice

[Q] installed app. app disapeared. cant reinstall

ok.... I have Samsung Fascinate.
PWGB2.0 beta3 ROM
I found the zip containing on here(XDA) somewhere containing the BuddiesNow app for my phone and installed it. I then found the BuddiesNow for Vibrant tweaked for the Fascinate. I went to /system/app and located my BuddiesNow I had placed in there 1st and renamed it .bak
I then placed the Vibrant BuddiesNow app in the /system/app folder.
It worked great. I discovered I liked the Vibrant BuddiesNow app much better.
*************
ok... now my issue. I picked my phone up ealier this week and went to use my Vibrant BuddiesNow app and it was gone. I then long pressed the blank screen and pressed Widgets from the list that popped up. I scroll thru the list and BuddiesNow does not show up in the list.
I then open my file manager and navigate to /system/app folder and BuddiesNow is not in there. Not even the .bak file version.
I then go to my SDcard and find the copy of the Vibrant BuddiesNow app I had originally stored in a folder there and tried to copy it to the /system/app folder. The error message pops up saying that the file already exist and cant paste the file here.
I then booted into recovery, tried wiping partition cache and dalvik cache.
That did not help any. Got same result when I tried to move the file to /system/app folder again.
I then thought I would be cleaver and rename the Vibrant BuddiesNow in my SDcard folder to [BuddiesNow.apk.grid] and then move it to the /system/app folder. AND THEN AFTER PLACING IN THE /system/app FOLDER, RENAME IT TO .APK
That did not work either! It also diappeared.... now I have BuddiesNow.apk,
BuddiesNow.apk.bak, BuddiesNow.apk.grid, all in the /system/app folder and all invisible.
I had the file manager settings to SHOW HIDDEN FILES from the beginning.
I also have tried the SEARCH function in the file manager but it shows no results. I have tried installing many file manager apps and attempting to see if a different file manager would show the files but none did.....
I tried to write this episode as short as possible.. this is the best I could do to cover al the bases...
what could be a fix????????? PLEASE ADVISE! I LOVE MY BUDDIESNOW!
Come one...anyone? I love my buddiesnow app. Please help me out here
hard to belive
hard to believe someone has not seen this before and has an idea how to fix it...
I love this forum anyways

OVERWRITE FILE is not an option to choose... in this particular problem with this
particular apk disappearance, the option to overwrite is not there.
I have had the overwrite option at other times but not now with this issue fo who know what reason.
I am going to factory reset I guess and start over.
hasn't anyone else had the same issue?
Not sure if this would be helpful but when I had a similar issue I just used titanium backup and found the file that "already existed" and removed it. Also, you can use any file manager that allows you to sort by date modified and look for any buddynow files that may be in a folder that you didn't think about looking in
did you maybe moved the app to your sdcard ? sometimes app's widgets wont show if you move them to sdcard. If you did so move it back to the phone's memory

I used the search function in the various file managers I have tried & even searched the entire phone (and also the /system/app )for he disappeared files and got no results...when I get some time next week I am going to sit down and factory reset my phone and start all over.
if it works I will not try the vibrant version of buddiesnow on my phone again,
I will just use the fascinate version of buddiesnow. (the vibrant version sure was nicer tho)....

Apps folder files question

Hi guys, I would like to ask something regarding the application folders.
If I uninstall an app, what I do is I clear cache first then clear data then force close the app and then uninstall. Would that delete all the folder created by the app during its previous installation process?
I checked my internal phone storage today and i saw "Summer Player" folder and it has PNG files inside it. I could not find any apps that uses those PNG files.
I'm wondering if that's a folder that was previously created by one of the apps I installed and was not removed during uinstallation process?
I would like to have an organize folder in my system and removed any unused folder. Could i checked which application is using a specific folder?
Thanks and sorry for the long post.
i saw a summer player folder in my mobile too. maybe we can compare what games do we have in common and figure out where it came from? i tried googling and the results seems to point towards poweramp

Amaze: Getting HQ-Camera and Gallery to Work Together in NonSense Roms

Hi All,
First off, I apologize if this has been covered in another thread. I've done a lot of searching for the answer to this and never found it.
I use CraigTut's Jellybean Fusion along with Faux's kernel as my daily driver, but I prefer the HQCamera and the HTC Gallery to the installed camera/Gallery combo (AOSP I think ???). But when I installed HQCamera, the rom retained the AOSP gallery and the camera and gallery didn't work well together, so for example I couldn't open the gallery by tapping the gallery icon in the camera screen. Finally, I prefered the sense gallery as it is two columns in width.
To solve this I found the following workaround. Sorry it's newbish but I don't know how to mod the flashable zip file yet and didn't need to for this exercise. Likewise, if there is another easier way, please feel free to post it.
1) (This step is to get the files are in the attachment HtcAlbumAPKs.zip) I already had the Stocked Amaze Deodexed rom on my computer and I extracted all files to a new folder. Most (if not all) other stock roms will work.
2) (The following files are in the attachment HtcAlbumAPKs.zip) Navigate to \system\app in the Stocked Amaze Deodexed rom and copied two files out of it a) HtcAlbumMapView.apk and b) HTCAlbumTMO.apk.
3) Extract HtcAlbumMapView.apk and HTCAlbumTMO.apk from the attached zip, HtcAlbumAPKs.zip, and place in your sdcard
4) Place HQ-Camera in the same place.
5) Using root explorer navigate to \system\app and delete the camera and gallery apks.
6) Using root explorer go to your sd card and copy HtcAlbumMapView.apk and HTCAlbumTMO.apk (menu, multi-select, tap two file names, copy)
7) Navigate to \system\app and paste the two files
8) Change permissions for each of the two files to match the other files in that folder. Using root explorer push down on file name until the menu popps up, select permissions and check only the following: the three in the left (read) column and the top one in the center (write) column. Uncheck any others that are checked and tap ok.
9) Boot into recovery and install attached HQ Camera from its location on your sdcard.
10) Wipe Cache + Dalvik Cache
11) Reboot and the HQ camera and gallery should be playing nice!
This works well for me on JB Fusion.
Cheers!
