[Q] Dualboot Froyo 2.2.1 with my Stock 2.1? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
New android user, new to the scene. This forum has been very helpful to me so far. I just rooted for the first time 2 mins ago.
Now a question. I see that a new 2.2.1 Froyo rom is out, and If possible I'd like to try it, but only if I can dual boot with the stock version I have now.
Is this possible? If so, could someone provided detailed (I'm learning) instructions? My phone is already rooted.

Stupid question?

Hi all
I'm a complete newbie to the Android, but in the four weeks I've had the HTC Hero, I've set up email, downloaded loads of apps etc, but I've started to notice some problems.
I was advised to upgrade from Android 1.5 to Android 1.6 ahead of the upcoming release of 2.1, but I want to backup all my apps, email settings, messages, etc. so I don't have to start again after the upgrade.
I've been reading through the forums for a few days, and can't find a simple guide. I've found a lot about "root" but nothing about what root is! (As I said, I'm a complete newbie)
Any chance someone could post an idiots guide?
Many thanks
You know...The problem doesn't even exist!! Are you happier than before huh? ...Why? What? Didn't you know? F***ing HTC won't release ANY 2.1 update for our Heroes until 26th of April! Oh sure, you could upgrade to 1.6 but....NO! You can't! Because HTC has decided that 1.6 upgrade will never be released! Oooorrr...You could read some guide about "rooting" your Hero and installing a custom rom This is the best and quickest way to get 2.1 features without waiting for official HTC upgrade. Even because when the new firmware will be released maybe there won't be the possibility of rooting again the phone! So you're forced to use stock rom! And if you don't like it...Well...go to hell! XD (By HTC, not by me obviously...). I can only suggest you some "short" readings and a particular 2.1 rom:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superuser (aka root user)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654030 (The most stable and fastest 2.1 rom at the moment)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124 (The most powerful and friendly modded recovery)
So read, read and read! Then, when you think you're ready, try to root your Hero, if you're not able to do it maybe you've got a perfect SPL...But this is another story...
Oh..and (google)search, (google)search, (google)search //A sort of casting....
+1 MARDURHACK.
A few more things here,...
Have a read of What Can I Do With Root - INFO
Then check out [Guide] Newbie Guide to Install a Custom Rom
....Then when you get to the bit about installing your custom ROM, use the link that MARDURHACK provided if you want to try out a 2.1 ROM. Or you can have a look at the other ROMs available in the development section here at XDA.
I had my Hero for about 3 weeks but wanted a 100% stable ROM, so have opted for the MODACO 3.2 ROM. It is Android 1.5, not 2.1. You can get that from HTC Hero section @ MoDaCo.com
.... I can confirm, its the dogs bollocks!

[Q] Downgrading Epic to 2.1?

Just had a quick question, I'm kinda new here. I currently have a rooted Epic w/ the leaked 2.2 version that came out a few weeks back. *Supposedly* sammy will be releasing the OFFICIAL 2.2 on 12/26, so I was thinking of going back to the stock 2.1 (it seemed to be a lot faster and less buggy) until the official 2.2 comes out. Are there any drawbacks to this? Will I lose any of my apps that I currently have installed? Can someone point me in the right direction for how to go about doing this? I imagine there's probably a thread or two hanging out there somewhere about this. Thanks.
Bump...anything? Would be a great xmas present.
You should have backed up your original ROM in recovery before you flashed 2.2.
Cool story bro

[Q] ROM questions, current versions, etc.

Hi all,
I rooted my buddy's T-bolt a couple months ago and put a stock Froyo ROM that was the most up to date at the time. Being in the Evo scene, I'm a bit out of touch on the recent ROM happenings and which is the most up to date etc for the Tbolt.
Is Gingerbread standard on unrooted Tbolt's today? And if so, has someone developed a completely stock rooted version of it?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Verzo Kinzo custom ROM?

Hello everyone,
so I've bought this Verzo smartphone called Kinzo, it runs Android 2.2 Froyo and I'd like to get rid of it and load any custom ROM there with at least 2.3.
However it seems that nobody has ever created a custom ROM for this model. I dunno how this works, but is there any hope that someone can spend his time to create some ROM with Gingerbread?
Has anyone any experience with this phone model and flashing another ROM in it, anyways?
Thanks a lot for answering.

[Q] Captivate - Need help flashing from 2.3.3 GB back to stock 2.2

I'm fairly new when it comes to flashing ROM's and what not, and in October I made the mistake of flashing to the "official" release of 2.3.3 for a Rogers captivate (not through KIES). I wish to go back to 2.2, so that I can use 2.2 ROM's. I am, however, sceptical of the procedure of flashing back. Could anyone here direct me to a video, a tutorial, or tell me how exactly I would do this?
Thank you,
Balls.
