Hey guys, so I'm trying to install a ROM on my phone, but before I did that, I rooted my phone with z4root then I did the 3 button combo (vol_-, home, power) when the phone was off.
It boots up back again, LG splash screen then the Droid with the arrow logo or something (sorry hard to describe), but then it freezes for a sec, then loads up normally. Only thing different was that it all factory settings - nothing was deleted in my SDcard, just all my apps and stuff gone.
Luckily I backed up everything and I just restored my backup for LP and whatnot, but is it possible to get my original settings back?
And most of all, why did it even do this?
Am I supposed to do something else after doing the 3 button combo?
After rooting you have to install dresdee custom recovery. Search for it.

So heres the problem. I've been waiting ages for a good phone that can play videos on the go, but after finding out that my HTC hero (GSM) only supports 2.1 android and cant run iPlayer, i thought i might as well try to install it myself. And thats when it all went wrong. I got UniversalAndroot 2.2 and now my phone just freezes on an "android" logo which was never even there before. What can i do? The only thing i can do is hold down the power and volume down buttons and get into a white screen with two options. Help please....
isnt it home and power button to go to recovry?
Have you wiped your phone data in your recovery image if not wipe your phone data/factory reset in your recovery image and also wipe your cache
It's fine guys, I managed to get into recovery, thanks for your help!
Hey everyone. Sorry if this is redundant, but I have to ask. I rooted my device perfectly, setup all my apps and homescreen. Last app installed was Rom Toolbox PRO. After installing, I open it. It immediately freezes device and reboots. I can't get past Samsung boot logo. Tried volume down and power and get into download mode perfectly. Then I try volume up, and power to get to recovery to wipe cache, but it will not boot into recovery. Always goes back to Samsung boot screen. All I want to do is get my device booted and remove Rom Toolbox so I can be back to normal. Any ideas? I'm away from my computer due to being out of town. I just want it to work again!

I'm not 100% certain why this would happen, but if you made a NAND backup after you rooted you can restore to that. Otherwise do a factory wipe and restart from scratch. You can also try to wipe the apk for ROM ToolBox from your system if you are running on a recovery that allows you explore your app directory.
So guys, I managed to screw up my phone, and even a complete factory reset won't fix this problem (altho it did wipe 5 weeks of Clash progress that I forgot to use G+ to back up :'( )
1) When I went to change my boot animation, I followed an awful guide somewhere on this forum and wound up replacing the samsungloop.qmg . Not only did that not work, but now I can't restore it! So now when I turn on my phone, I get the standard samsung logo, and then 3 - 5 seconds of a black screen w/ no animation! How can I reverse this, or at least install a replacement boot animation?
2) Possibly related to the above problem, but suddenly I can't use the button on the side (power button) to turn off the screen, and this is bugging me for obvious reasons. Can I turn on the screen after it goes off? Yes. Can I bring the shutdown/restart/airplane mode menu? Yes. But can I turn the bloody screen off? No, and this is driving me nuts atm. Someone do help me with this incredibly urgent problem!
Use odin to flash a stock firmware, then factory reset.

+1 Use Odin. :good:
Thanks guys! After a while, I found a stock rom for my particular model, and now it works perfect once again Thanks!
I had this same problem on my T999V after attempting to flash a custom boot animation. I didn't mind that the boot animation was gone but my screen wouldn't time out or turn off with the power button. Luckily I had a TWRP backup from about 3 days ago. So I did a current backup, restored to my '3 days ago' backup. And then restored just the 'data' from the current backup. Problem solved and I didn't lose any of my current data.
Lesson is... ALWAYS do a backup! I've been burned before too, thinking 'what could go wrong?'

I've seen lots of comments about not being able to boot into TWRP to flash something after rooting and phone is all setup. Quickboot and Tasker can do this but I wanted to do it with on/off/volume buttons (like my old Samsung, (I'm spoiled)).
I locked up my phone fooling around with the build.prop. I could not get beyond the LG logo. I decided I had to start over with factory restore. (Hold Volume down/on/off at same time, when logo appears release on/off for 1 second, still holding volume down, and press on/off and hold until it boots into Factory Restore mode.)
I went through the prompts to factory restore and on the last "Yes" the phone booted into TWRP instead of into a Factory Restore. After restoring from my nandroid backup I tried it again and it worked again. So, I've concluded if you have TWRP installed this is the method I used to boot into it from power off.
Tested and confirmed on my v10 as well.
That's how I used to do it on my G3 when I couldn't boot properly.

Woohoo! Thanks. Worked.
OMFG! it wasn't until I was about to make a post about this to ask for help that this post came up and I am ever so grateful! Like others who have had trouble getting there with the hardware buttons, I tried so many ways and searched far and near with no workable solution until this!
How'd you install recovery ? I'm having h960a model and i can't seem to be able to root or install recovery.. i've tried every method out there .
As far as I know, only T-Mobile USA version has root and custom recovery so far.

So, I was watching some videos on youtube on my phone (GM-925I, rooted) and I clicked on the recents button to open the tabs but could not click on anything. I thought my phone might have hanged so I tried locking and unlocking the screen and the swipe to unlock actually worked. But after that, I again could not click on anything. I tried the home button, volume up and down buttons, all were working just fine so the phone definitely hadn't hanged and since the touch was working on the lock screen it couldn't have been a hardware issue. I thought of restoring a backup i had made with twrp so I managed to boot into recovery but my stupid ass forgot that this recovery only worked with touch and touch wasnt working in recovery as well! So, not only can i not restore backup or factory reset the phone but I cant also boot into system as everytime I close the phone with simulated battery disconnect it just boots back into twrp. I can go to Odin mode though so if anyone can either tell me if the touch problem is a hardware problem or if there is some way I can factory reset or even boot into system somehow.
I'm kinda new to the whole software customization thingy and would really appreciate any help on this.
