[Q] Iphone 4 3G - Folio 100 General

Has anyone succeeded in connecting an Iphone via Bluetooth to the FOLIO, without Jailbreaking the Iphone?
Now that there is a tethering option in Iphone, I would prefer not to Jailbreak it...
Thanks,
Alain

Ipod Touch tethering

I may get flamed for asking this but I'm going to any way. Is it possible to tether an Ipod Touch to an Eris through bluetooth in order to share the 3g internet connection? I haven't used my Touch much at all since ive had the eris...just thought it would be convenient when wi fi isn't available.

Well, if you're not leaked then just root the phone and open wifi tether. Start the tether and then just connect the ipod touch to the access point that the phone creates.
Yeah, it should work perfect. The phone creates the Ad-Hoc network and bam, you're online.
Off note, I know for a fact that until Sony gets their heads out of their butt, the Wifi Tether won't work for the PSP (The PSP is too good for ad-hoc networks apparently).
Yep, I got it working. If you're rooted use the wireless tether app to connect through wifi. Create an SSID and PW and you're good. Still can't figure out bluetooth, but wifi works just fine for me. I only use my Touch for the games, which as of now is really the only thing Android is lacking IMHO.

Man you got that right. Too bad developers aren't able to tap into Android's true power (seems to be a software limitation, yay Google! lol...)

really? Android is the most open and I think most varied and powerful smartphone OS available ay the moment. Google is giving it away, I hardly think its limited in software in any way.

Note not being recognized by Mac

My Samsung Galaxy Note is not being recognized by my Mac. I have the CM10 Nightless ROM on it at the moment. I also have Android File Transfer installed on my Mac.
Why do you have any extra software installed on the mac? Get rid of that it should just pick it up after you mount it. Try different usb ports/cables. My GF's mac picks up my PA CM10 just fine. Try that?
Mac address issue in the CM rom ???
Check the Mac address field in your network settings in the rom to confirm that you have the correct Mac address......g

I believe they are referring to an Apple Mac issue, not a MAC address issue.

I havent connected a cable to my mac/gnote since I rooted it months ago..
its your android phone saying its time to dump the mac and upgrade to a pc
but there is some special way MTP connects to a mac, search google for it.

if you want to think about it that way sure... or you can think of it this way.
custom built pc to your liking, install win/lin/osx. SAVE TONS OF MONEY
OR
spend 2000$+ extra to have an apple stamp on your tower.
i dont see how buying a pc is downgrading when you can do so much more with it
thats like saying "you bought an android? whyd you downgrade from an iphone...*
well, after having pc's for 20 years, custom building most of them, BTW, and dealing with windows builds that ranged from horrible, to ok, I decided to go MAC in 2006; things were great at first, but the last 2 OSX releases, Lion, and now Mountain Lion have been major disappointments to me, let alone my disgust for the childish lawsuits and other bull that Apple is now focused on, instead of building better products..
I'll probably go back to windows machines, once windows 8 is fully out there..
BTW, my custom made PC's were always more than $2000.00!!
Sorry about hijacking this thread with PC "Stuff"!
2nd post in this thread will help you out

I would really look into using airdroid though I have used that since I first downloaded it , dont connect with cables anymore !!
I was afraid that this might turn into a PC vs Mac thread haha. I'll look into the over the air method when I get home. Thanks for all the suggestions and help

Its a known issue with JB and Mac. If you use TWRP go that route for a USB connection. Its really easy and a lot quicker than over the air.

[Q] Bluetooth tether to iPad3

Dear All,
Has anyone tried iPad3 Bluetooth tethering to HDX? I can pair both together, but it doesnt seem to grab 3G data.
I tried transferring file via BT between SGS3 and HDX, it works which means there's nothing wrong with the chip.
I tested the same iPad with SGS3 (JB) and SGS2 (ICS). Both managed to use the data connection of iPad.
Please help.
Thanks a lot!
Banned for talking about iPads. Just kidding Did you try any apps from the Play Store?

Hmm... looks like it never works we got the same problem my iPad 3 does the same maybe there is something interfering in the connection
I tried it with my Dad's HOX and my Brother's One V and my Desire X none seems to work as well even Bluetooth transfer does not work the device could pair with it but it can't make the transfer , I guess Apple hates HTC (I know they like each other I just know it! ) any info on iOS version?

[Q] Any ways to get internet in SGS 2?

Hello guys! So I have Acer Aspire V3 laptop, USB cable and DSL modem (no WiFi), but I need internet connection in my SGS 2 (mobile internet doesn't work right now because of the lack of cash and the limit of it sucks a lot :| ), so would it be possible to get that connection in any ways?

On s2 you can only share internet from the phone to the device as PC or laptop but it cannot be reversed :/
Then maybe someone knows where to get free and working Connectify? Because with that program you can freely share WiFi through PC or Laptop to any other device
Do a Google/XDA search for 'reverse tethering'.

Just tried this and it doesn't worked for me :| I didn't got any errors but didn't got internet too :q I will try to look for solution with this tutorial, thanks
It's absolutely possible, plenty of people here have done it. But it's not a simple thing to do. You'll find out how/get it working if you're motivated enough.

Unrooted yet Lollipop coming, adhoc patching, usb hardwire tethering other androids

Have we gotten to the point where the Android tools in general use are available for a capable android computer, like say a Z2 tablet or one of several Galaxy phones just to name a few?
My Z2 has 23.0.1.A.4.44 which I understand is not rootable. At the same time the Lollipop update is supposed to be just any time now. Should I root it now or wait and see what happens after the update, which I'll assume will be nothing to make it easier to root. Any suggestions as what to do? Root now and see if it will update and keep root or just wait? I can hardly stand the idea of this not being rooted.
Has anyone had any luck making a Z2 connect to adhoc wifi? I've studied the OLSRD patch and a few other methods and I'm a bit unsure about which method would be best and easiest. In fact, I have several devices I'd like to be able to connect to a simple adhoc wifi.
If anyone can point me to a ground level and upwards networking tutorial that doesn't carry a person too fast that is slow in that department, I'd appreciate it. I know the WLAN on most all of my androids tested will see adhoc wifi but the wpa supplicant thing seems to be the problem that google has ignored to the point they say it's now moot. I wish I could say I agreed.
Going further, if I make a usb micro to micro cable to connect these various devices, would it even be possible to hard wire tether the Z2 (and/or) other various android devices that way?
The only cables similar I can find are micro a to micro b and they are mostly called OTG. My understanding is that the Z2 will accept a or b and so will some of my samsung handhelds. I don't guess I know for sure.
Have we gotten to the point that hard wiring androids to each other would ever be of benefit? The wifi direct, near devices and NFC beam things on my devices equipped seem hit or miss at best if not inexplicably inoperative. Can you wirelessly one click root an android or flash a rom?
Please pardon my ignorance and thank you for your tolerance. I'd like my android world to be easier and more logical when it comes to simple things and it would be nice not to need a windows PC to tinker with my androids.

Ad-hoc WIFI is supported via WIFI DIRECT, look under Settings > WIFI > Advanced > WIFI DIRECT
Advanced is the 3-dot menu in the top-right corner of the screen.

Yeah support seem to be a hit and miss thing.
And as far as I you can not root a phone wirelessly.
I don't see that wifi direct is the same as actual adhoc. I have no less than 5 wifi direct devices, not all activated, and in the case of my spg512 cannot be activated, and it doesn't seem to work on any of them.
However, my pc's have zero problem seeing and connecting to the wpa supplicant skipped broadcasted wifi from my rooted s4 via barnacle.
Turning that off and trying the wifi direct with the same s4 and any other of my devices, gets nothing. None of these devices have any problem hooking up to starbucks or hotel wifi.
I have to wonder also if the infrared on the devices so equipped could be made to transfer data like a nearly 10 year old windows mobile phone can.
I must be doing something wrong or have many broken devices because the ones I can get to pair, all fail to transfer files to each other.
Of course the wifi direct sure isn't going to tether any of them to the internet.
