OK I know this is a really stupid question since I have read only about Voicemail. I'm on ATT's network and want an android phone that has a front camera. The Dell streak is the only thing that I see available. The only thing I need to know that no one can tell me is can this thing be used as a PHONE!? Can I use it just as I would my HTC ARIA? That is all I want to know.

Can you tell me where on that site it says about phone calls? I looked at the US Dell site and it's the same. I know how this site is with looking before asking. I didn't even see anything about talk time and battery life so I assumed it was just a tablet.

Streak is a phone and I like it as a mini-tablet. It is a little embarassing for the first couple of days talking in public but I am getting used to it. I never get the whole 7-10 inch tablet thing. I'd rather buy a laptop that I can use to actually do work. 5 inch screen for browsing and email is more than enough for me.

The sad thing is, I have a streak, an Ipad, a laptop, and a desktop. I bought the streak HOPING it would replace my ipad @ work, sadly it just doesnt quite cut it. That 10" screen is a wonderful sales tool, being able to show customers competitors websites and prices and whatnot, HOWEVER, with the plethora of android tablets coming, I may finally be able to cut my last iOS ties.
Luckily I don't talk on the phone much, because I really do despise talking on the device without any bluetooth.
LOL I don't mind making the phone call from the handset itself. You get funny stares doesn't bother me tho

When I pull out or use my phone, I get people starring in awe and they come up to me wanting to know what it is and immidiately want one..lol Theres alot of people out ther thats has no idea what a Streak is.
Ocasionally I have people pull out their iphone 4 to compare but they cant come close to my Streak. Hahahaha Then they ask if I would trade.... Hell NO!

Thanks for all the help guys. I wish I could use/see one of these in person to sell me on the product. I am an avid HTC guy and was super disappointed when I found out the new HTC 4G for ATT didn't have a front camera. My 2 brothers have phones that can video chat. 1 has the EVO 4G and the other Iphone4(Apple Freak). This would be a great phone because I do use Bluetooth a lot as well as message people most of the time anyway. I would go after the motorla phones but haven't liked any of thier phones since the razor. The same goes for samsung. I have owned all types of phones as well as my brothers. I'm a NOKIA fan to the heart it's just sad that the U.S. doesn't support them anymore. HTC was the closest phone to Nokia that I liked. Hopefully the dell streak will prove them same. If not i'm sure my wife would like it.
I actually like the feel of the phone when I talk on it. It seems more natural than smaller phones.
And my sister has an iphone 4 and asks me everyday if I want to trade. I laugh at her.

To hell with that I'm getting the Atrix. Sorry streak, I hardly knew ye. Only got it a month ago. But that phone just seems so SEXY! plus the whole docking station and laptop setup.... SOLD!

I've just seen this video Google posted on their facebook showing their Google Maps 5.0 , however, even though the phone was running Gingerbread, I couldn't help but to notice, this phone is very similar to the Vibrant rather than the Nexus S, who agrees this is a Vibrant and not a Nexus S

I know the Maps is out for all devices after 2.1/2.2? but I mean, it's running Gingerbread, Unless Google is running Nero or Eugene's Ginger Clone lol, who knows..
The 2nd one looks like a Fascinate as it has a black bezel vs the chrome one on the vibrant.

Actually, even if the chrome is not that noticeable, I still believe the second one is a Vibrant, however, now that you mentioned the Fascinate, the first one is as round as the Fascinate and the 2 of them have Galaxy S capacitive keys layout.. so, perhaps is the Fascinate and the Vibrant...

Maps was updated not all phones maps updated. Not all phones support 3D. They're showing more than nexus s on there. Please understand me!

Then how is this for constructive? It could be a Vibrant because many if not most Vibrants have GPS that work just fine. In fact it is confirmed that if it was made at least in October or later you should not have an issue. If it was made prior to that many still have no issue. I posted this in the Thunderbolt forum(as I still have a TB until Monday), but thought you guys would get a laugh out of it to.
This was the line for the RAZR launch this morning at my local Verizon. This pic was taken 10 minutes before they opened(They decided on 11:11AM for the launch).
Btw, that lady wasn't there for the RAZR... she just wanted a new battery for her phone and was upset that Verizon wasn't open yet.
A RAZR launch is always the best day to go to the VZW store if you need to , because it is never crowded.

Lol yeah I went down to play with the RAZR thinking that I had to stand in line to do so, but the freaking store was pretty much empty. I asked one of the sales reps about how the RAZR was selling and he said that they only sold two. The funny part is that they had balloons, posters, banners and all for the RAZR, all in vain.

yup! 100% for the rezound, not even thinking twice. i don't want stock android; i want sense. i love how the rezound is shaping up, especially the video camera and the camera, they look great! i'm getting it tuesday when our store gets them in stock

i know, right? sad part is, in our verizon website, they said that employees couldn't activate the razr on launch day, much like the iphone 4s, because of the overwhelming demand. LOL. what demand? hahaha
2 Issues, there are so many Android phones, those who WANT these new phones can't get them because they just got the last 9 phones that came out in the last couple months, lol. iPhone fanboys only get 1 phone every 12+ months, easier to build up demand when there isn't something else similar coming out. Not to mention, people KNOW the Nexus and Rezound come out in the next few days.

The thing I hate about the razr most is the bezel is so big, also I don't like phones that have a hump, just seems out of place, I'd rather the whole thing be a bit thicker overall.
I did see commercials on TV for it, guess they didn't help.

i was frolicking about in the mall today and saw one on display in Best Buy Mobile(there were people in the store, but no one seemed to be paying any attention to it). i decided to pick it up and it just felt all fragile and seemed like if you didn't hold it just right it might slip out of your hands. i didn't really play with it much but did try to see if i could experience the lag and kept constantly switching back & forth through windows and it did slow down. a salesperson was just watching me and probably thought i'm "disturbed"(which isn't far from the truth).

In photos, the hump looks pretty big. In reality, it doesn't feel nearly as intrusive. You might still hate it, of course. I'm just clarifying that as far as how the phone feels in hand, the hump is the most minor concern for me.
I played with one at one of my Verizon stores... I just can't get over Moto's failed Blur. The locked BL nonsense, I mean.... No reason to ever go back to another Moto, their track record ruined it for me. (I may change my opinion if Google does successfully acquire Moto).
On a side note, if they would quit having these damn release parties and just had teaser commercials, and NOT let people know that a better phone is coming out 3 days later, and subsequently 7 days again after than. AND, if they didn't tie people to asinine contracts, AND, if there were not choices, AND.... You get the point. You can't hype something that is overpriced and isn't changing anything in the world. How many people do you think will show up at a car dealer to see a new hybrid?

I'm around a lot of people who are legally considered poor, most have POS dumbphones with hardly known cell providers, the ones that have smartphones still are having problem affording rent and whatnot but they're not as bad off, and they get their smartphone for free or for something like $50, and again with POS providers that are hella cheap.
It's hard to live in this society without internet or cell phones, and there's ways of getting those things without having to pay a lot.
If someone can afford to blow $300 on a phone but they say that they can't afford food, then they can, they're just dumbasses or lying to your face.

now i know this is the photon section (my photon is still running like the beast it is) but i just ordered a kyocera echo!! (thanks ebay) now i wanted this phone cause 1. it's the most unique phone on the market, 2. it's discounted, so now i have a rare phone that is VERY hard to find 3. it's a new toy to play with until i go back to my photon
so here's my point to all this, do you guys have any opinions of the echo? or have you guys even heard of such a device??? lol, leave your comments, i'm interested

oh i know it's not the best, but when i use to work at my local sprint store, after the 2.3 update, it was a lot smoother, but i guess i'll see how it is when i get it, it's just something different i think, and it's a phone a lot of people don't have, so it'll turn heads to a point,lol, and for the price, i got this thing for $80, no bad i'd say for a mid ranged android phone with 2 screens, but i'll have this, my evo3d, THE MOPHO!!! still got my crap pre, and a moment
I played with it at my local sprint store and it seemed very...sluggish its a neat concept but that's about it with the pluses lol
Don't remember when it came out or when the update came out but it was a few months before the photon when I messed with it.
89 bucks you can't beat that though plus you could always Clist it for 100 if you ever need some cash lol

nope discontinued along with the EVO4g i'm afraid (my 1st smart phone) that's kinda why i'm happy to have one now just to fool around with seeing as it may be considered a "rare" phone now, even ebay barely has them listed

okay, hopefully i can explain this, say someone posted an item starting at $0.99
you make your 1st bid $90, up until it reaches $90 you are safe as the highest bidder
so it goes like this
Item $0.99
you bid $90
until someone else bids, you could possibly win the item for $0.99, but you have a $90 cushion
so someone bids $20
the highest bid is now $20, I.E. your cushioned bid and your still the highest bidder
someone bids $90.01, they are now the highest bidder because you only bid up to $90 (and yes, sometimes that penny difference could mean a lost bid!!!)
like with my echo, started at $0.99, i bid $70.01 (to make it an even $80 with shipping) 5 other people bided on the phone but no one went higher then $70.01 so i won it at $70.01, but if someone went just one penny higher, i would have lost

doesn't seem like there's much development for it, i barely found how to root the darn thing, but if i ever find cm7, i'll try it out, and when they updated to gingerbread, they optimized the phone so much for less battery drain

Lol, not really, they all have Verizon and at&t, and I'm excited cause it's just something new, my photon is amazing, but I do get bored of it from time to time

I have a Rezound and love it except for the battery life. Verizon is offering me a Certified Pre-owned phone of my choice without signing a contract. The Bionic looks like the best one available, for $149.99. It uses the same size 4G sim card as my Rez? I can just swap back and forth if so. Would this be a solid backup phone? It has a couple cool things like a dedicated hdmi port and the lap dock option. Worth the buck fifty?

It has had some updates to fix some of the issues, my suggestion would be to check the bionic forums and see how people feel it is working now. So how did you work that out to get offered another phone without contract plus keep the Rezound ? Curious, because I would love to have another phone to mess around with myself
I bought the Rez used, and the Verizon rep put insurance on my account when he activated my sim card. Turns out that is not an option for used phones, so I whined and moaned about not having a warranty on a 3 month old phone, and they offered me the CPO device. I can use it whenever, too! Might just wait for a Nexus to show up and sell it

I had a Bionic aswell and it is a piece of junk. Battery life is about the same, screen is horrible, and the camera is pathetic.

I've heard horrid stories about the Bionic, stay away from it, get about any other newer phone other than it if you really want something other than the Rezound.
I had a bionic shortly, if there has ever been a bigger POS I'm not sure what it would be (although the nexus is close)

The downfalls of the nexus made it worse IMHO and I had the bionic for two months...kept the Gnex 2 days.

Stay far away from the Bionic. Girlfriend has one and nothing but trouble. Even with root and tweaking it is no where close to my stock Rezound.

Had the Bionic for 6 hours before returning it for the Rezound. Wasn't impressed at all. Plus, I thought I read the Bionic went on sale for $99 today. Still wouldn't buy it.
The Bionic is garbage. I mean, its plenty fast, but the screen is very washed out, and the camera is just sooooo bad. Plus I really hated the shape of the thing. It was uncomfortable to talk on for more than a couple minutes, and even uncomfortable to hold for long periods. Why anyone would put sharp edges on a phone is beyond me!
Hey this is the OP, thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like the Bionic is basically a big deuce, a pos, a stinker to be killed with fire, but...I still want it to tinker with...ugh, can't decide.

I get pretty good battery life with my Rezound, and that's with the stock battery.

I came from the bionic, it took me 2x3 hour phone calls with verizon for them to exchange that piece of crap for my rezound.
The bionic is a piece of **** there's nothing to tinker with..There's no unlocked bootloader, data drops every time you turn off your screen, there's about 3 developers for the bionic who are inactive.
Stay away from that piece of ****!

It's on a dod site, it looks like it comes with everything, has a 90 warranty. Cheapest I've seen on amazon is $70 for new. I've seen a couple of threads on bluetooth headsets so I thought I'd post this.

Well like I said, I've purchased from them before and they were prompt and somewhat fast. As for the red flags, I use WOT and Mcafee siteadvisor in FireFox when I'm not sure and it didn't throw any flags when I first checked them out.

How much was it on the site, just wondering?
The Tracking number they gave me starts with a 9 and it should start with 1Z usually for UPS, but they may use SurePost(a combo of UPS and USPS) which I dont know much about. Does anyone know what is going on with the shipping tracking?
I received a similar number dorm my order last week and it took a few days (including the weekend) before i was able to track it.
I ordered last Wednesday and it should arrive thisThursday.

I had the EXACT same experience. I ordered on Wednesday got the tracking info on Friday(I think, not by email). I was only able to track it when I checked today after like 10 or 11 maybe not sure, but before that it said "Not available". It is a different type of shipping....It is 1 hr 10 min away from me RIGHT NOW, and I wont get it till Thurday either(estimated, possibly earlier I guess).
"UPS Mail Innovations" is who is shipping it, may not be that same.

I don't recall getting an email giving me a shipping number, but I checked the webpage and shows that I'll get mine Thursday. oh and mine is 104 miles away. Knowing UPS, it'll be here on Thursday they don't tend to like to get things to me early.
So I just got this in on the 20th and wanted to play with it a bit before I said anything about it. In a nutshell, I don't like it. I like it's premise with A2DP, the accelerometer and the cool integration things, but in the end I feel it was poorly executed.
First the rubber actually hurts my ear, which is a novel concept for me because I have big ears. Even with a big earpiece, I was hoping it would apply enough grip that I could wear it without the loop, but no such luck. The over the ear hook is cool, it disconnects easy enough but not so easy that i'll pop off while on your ear and it swivels for optimal positioning, but it's hard plastic and it's a small loop.
The audio is good, but not better than any of it's competition, but in the same breath it isn't worse than it's competition either. The noise assassin, is a cool idea, but no more effective than the competition's noise canceling.
The tap tap function is cool, but why not just use a button? It has a function called shake shake so you can answer your phone call while it isn't in your ear, my only question is why not just put it in your ear and answer it then? To pair, it uses a double shake shake, which is handy to quickly put the headset into pairing mode, but how often do you need to pair a headset?
The software. Oh how i wish I could say that all of that could be made up with the software. But all you can do with the software is tell it what you want the talk button to do when you press it and if you want it to speak your calender reminders.
Lastly is the webpage. First you have to install the updater software, which you would imagine to operate similar to like a logitech software bundle but all it does is provide an interface for your headset and the webpage which is fine. You can choose from 6 different voices which is cool AND you can specify what service you want to use when you do a press and hold action. Unfortunately the majority of the services, (all 7 of them) require accounts/payments. From the webpage you can access different functions like disabling the tap tap or shake shake feature or A2PD, but my question is, why can't the app handle these?
I guess I'm being just picky or maybe I'm jaded because I just got it in and it isn't working with my phone anymore (not sure if it's a ROM issue or a headset issue) but I don't like the headset. If anyone wants it, i'll give it up for a little less than I paid for it or else it'll probably end up in a drawer whilst I continue my search for the best bluetooth headset.
Oh and a bit on dailysteals, good company, the headset only came with the 1 ear cover, and the back was a little scratched up where it looked like someone couldn't figure out how to plug it in but I can accept that for a headset that's still going for $70 to $110 new.
