Hi,
I am able to connect to the internet through Opera and skyfire but not through the default browser. The biggest problem is that the default android browser was set as the default option to launch Google voice search - so now Google voice search too is not working since I can't launch it using Operamini. Pl help - it would be great if I could get the default browser to working state, if else is there a way atleast to change the default launcher for Google Voice search to Operamini so that I can use the Voice search app atleast.
Try this in order to make Google search to ask you again what app to use by default:
Menu button - Settings - Applications - Manage applications.
Choose the "All" tab, look for "Browser" - tap it. Scroll down to "Clear defaults" button and tap it.
Anything that launched Browser by default will ask you again what app to use.
As for making the default browser work... I have no idea yet.
Good luck.

I am rooted, and modified the build.prop to change the app associations lock due to the Apple patent. I can open my Youtube links in the Youtube app, and my calendar invites in the calendar app. However, my web links still open in the stock browser, and I do not get the pop-up to select which app I want to use. The app associations menu in the settings is now gone with the edit. How can I set which apps perform which actions now?
Thanks
Go to settings->manage apps->Internet and press clear defaults. You should get the menu then.
Perfect, thanks!
Verizon GSIII - launching the stock browser gives me a blank page. I have gone into settings and set my home page as google and that did not work. I have restored the default setting for the browser and that did not work. any suggestions on how to get the browser to load the home page when launched?
Also, I would like to create a shortcut to Google Voice Search (Google search bar has it) so that i can use it as one of my lock screen shortcuts, but it does not show up in my application list.
Try clearing app data under SystemSettings->Apps->All->Browser
If that doesn't help - use Opera or Chrome from Play Market.
I'm not sure about lockscreen customizations - RTFM.

On Chinese 20s rom any app with links and even in chrome it opens up default browser. It will not let me disable it and since I am not rooted I can't delete it. Anyone know how to make chrome be default browser? Never had this issue before to be honest.
Edit forget that I found it in settings eventually.
Go to System settings -> App Management > Default apps ( lower left part of App management screen) -> Tap on the type of app that you want to change as default and set to your preferred choice.
For anyone else who eventually needs to setup non-default apps AS default ones
Hi, I tried to chenge the default browser, but even chrome is thicked in the previous menu appears that browser is system default. Do you know how to proceed in this case?

Have a p30 pro, went to google search bar, searched, then found what I wanted, clicked on open in chrome and had the option of default browser or chrome, clicked default by accident and now can't change it. Tried default apps and that is set to chrome. Even now when I select open in chrome it opens in the default browser.
Any ideas?
Go to settings, application settings, default. Applications and choose yours in there

Got a new S23 Ultra and "open with" is gone. Thats totally annoying.
Open a link in email open the browser. Even a youtube link open chrome.
Android 12 and 13 force you into having a default browser. There is an app in the PlayStore that you can set at your default browser that will always allow you to choose. It's called, Choose Browser.
it's from 2011 - 12 year old app
Go into the Apps Settings (long press icon -> info, or through settings and app-menu, don't know how samsung does that) and there could be a setting in the apps setting to "Open by default".
You can set those for every app e.g. youtube has that menu in my case.
Just go to settings app and the default app selection is the first option on top. Simple
