[Q] Goggles 1.3 Force Close - Click Themes and Apps

Hello,
Using stock rom (1.6) on HTC Tattoo and Google Goggles 1.3 I'm experiencing a force close every time I try to take a photograph. Everyone experiencing the same problem? Any idea? (1.2.1 works fine)

I have the same issue. Don't know what to do though.

Opened Bug Report
I opened a google support topic but I think it won't get fixed as our devices aren't officially supported anyway (because of the lack of camera autofocus).

[Q]Upside down camera on some apps

Hi all,
Some camera applications like google goggles is now showing images upside down. I am using the rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446774.
Anyone having this same problem? Is there a solution for this?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry still a newbie, can't post on development thread.
Regards.
Yes, this is some sorta bug with these devices.
Btw, with Google talk, on the receiving end the image appears right side up, even though it is upside down for you.
I have just noticed this problem. It seems to be affecting some camera apps but not all. Not much clue on the cause of the problem. e.g. Camera Zoom FX, Angel Camera and the default camera seems to work but Vignette doesn't.
yes also mytubo and google+ hangouts.. i wish someone can fix this and also the compass

The rom you are using is essentially stock plus a custom kernel. Let me backtrack and see if this is due to the use of the custom kernel. If yes, it is probably a driver problem and we can report to the kernel thread.
It also sometimes appear with Skype on my device, with the back camera (yp-GB70 with GB.KRKPH). I thought it had something to do with rotation of the screen?
Just retry stock rom (XXKPF), the image is also upside down in some apps. Anybody else have similar problem on stock rom? If it happens only in some apps, I suspect that it is much likely that it is a problem of the app.
When I google about this kind of problem, I can see many apps often have up-side down image on their bug list (fixed or not fixed) for different kinds of devices.

Hey, just messing with google+, and I can't find anywhere to start a hangout! Help?
Ah, nvm, I see you need to be over 18 to use hangout.
(Why did I ever tell google my real age?? Epic facepalm!)
I had the same problem. But with the latest update via kies, the problem disappears. Even with a custom rom. For example, I 'm using rj's kernel, and with the latest stock rom, the upside down camera problem is gone.

Google Talk

I used to use Google Talk loads but when I Flashed ICS Crumble it wasn't included. I knew of the new Android 4.0 GTalk so I looked for the apk and downloaded it. Installing went as usual but when I opened it it says "unfortunately Google talk has stopped responding" and now I'm on Remics UX and i have exactly the same problem as I did. Dose anyone know a fix or why this is happening?
this is a known bug in ics.
use another program like imo (play store)

I, too, used to use GTalk a lot back on Gingerbread. So, a couple of days ago, I PMed Supermaster34 about the GTalk force close issue on CM9 ROMs for the SGP 5.0. And, he confirmed what I had already been thinking the issue was, and he and I both think it has to do with some missing libraries (in the /lib folder in /system folder in Root).
But, I have searched high and low for the libraries with no luck at all. I cannot find any reference to libraries for CM9 GTalk force close, but I still have a few ideas yet. I'll let you know if I figure it out.
Google Talk Logcat
Here is Logcat I ran while attempting to run Google Talk on CM9 (SM34's build).
Would a developer kindly look over it and see if there is an obvious reason as to why it is force closing?
I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

Google Now Force Closes

So after updating to the newest version of Google Now, it now force closes. Any idea as to why? I was able to roll back to the previous version and it works fine now.
Edit: After reading some of the development forums this issue seems to be affecting the JB based ROMs (CM10/AOKP). If you're running one of these, it's likely the problem relates to the oes texture problem. Sadly that problem isn't likely to be fixed.
It's helpful to note if you're running any custom ROMs/scripts. There are many circumstances that could cause an app to FC, and more info could help us point you in the right direction.

I am running CM10 Alpha 2
Its most likely what ROMFlashah said. It probably has to do with the textures. Our ROM doesnt have these so when it tried to use them, it force closes. The same thing that happens with Gmail and others. Its sad to think we will no longer be able to use any update they put out for google now from now on.

Camera crash / freeze during in-app video

Hi All,
Long time reader of the forum, finally registered an account.
I'm having an issue wherein the camera freezes and crashes while taking video in apps. Video works fine while recording using the camera app. I've noticed this while using the messaging app and vine. In vine the video starts recording for about .5 seconds before crashing.
I am rooted and using AOKP JB rom (latest). I would have posted in that forum but I'm not allowed since it's a new account (you guys are serious here). I've searched that forum, found a few related posts but no resolution. I have fully wiped, I have cleared app data. I think its a problem with a ROM or Kernel itself. Actually seems like a buffer issue since the video records briefly before crashing but who knows.
If anyone has had a similar issue maybe with another ROM let me know. thanks.
No one else has had this problem??
If there was another topic let me know, I've searched heavily but maybe I've missed it.
I'm just trying to determine if this is hardware or software (or kernel/ROM).
Can anyone confirm that they are NOT having this issue and let me know what software you're running?
Thanks.
The most reliable test of whether your problem is hardware or firmware related is to flash back to stock and try the video in the stock camera. You can make a nandroid backup and restore it afterwards to get back to where you are now.
On the stock GB ROM the camera works in SMS but malfunctions in some apps.
I just flashed the official JB ROM from samsung and everything works perfectly, so definitely software.
same issue here, for vine, snapchat, instagram.
Similar issue here, with a Samsung Galaxy 2 (SGH-T989D) running JB 4.1.2 with the official JB update, rooted.
Camera will work for 20-30 seconds and then the in-app video preview will freeze and the only way to get the camera to work again is to reboot. There is no zombie Camera process to kill. Fixing permissions doesn't help. Doesn't matter which app tries to access the camera, they all fail.
I've tried the diagnostics test (*#0*#) and have been able to determine that it's only the rear facing camera that fails, the front facing camera always works fine.
I tried various camera firmware versions (using the "Camera Firmware Standard" screen, *#34971539#), currently running version SEEH05. Other versions either didn't work at all or would perform equally poorly.
I thought it might be an SD card problem,
But after removing the external SD card, the camera performed even worse (crashed even faster).
On the other hand the phone is still under warranty from Telus, so I'm considering flashing back the unrooted ROM and returning it for repairs, unless someone can suggest something else to try.
Running PAC ROM (22.0 i think) from the ported development section and have the same issue with the rear camera but the front camera seems to work OK most of the time for Snapchat and such. A while back I tried one of the separate 4.2.2 camera APK's that's floating on this site and had the same issue still.
Has anyone tried the new leaked 4.3 camera to see if that works better/worse?
Not sure if this would work or not, but you could probably try.
Clear out all current videos and pictures on internal sd card(of course after taking backup), wipe/reset and then do a fresh rom install.

[Q] Camera error - Can't connect to camera

I've just recieved a hand-me-down SGS2, and immediately found the camera wasn't working on the stock 2.3.3 rom. Didn't think much of it as I was planning to go to CM10.1 anyway.
I'm now on CM10.1 (cm-10.1-20130723-NIGHTLY-i9100) and although everything else appears to be working fine, I'm still getting the same error when opening the camera app. I don't have any other camera or flashlight software installed.
From what I can see with a few google searches this seems to be a relatively common problem with S2s, but couldn't find any fixes. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
