X10 mini charging - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi All,
Today I noticed that when I want to charge my x10 mini in powered off state phone boots normaly as when I power it on.
Before it was not booting, only big battery charge icon was shown on the display.
Is this due to new FW from december or due to rooted FW or due to xrecovery installed in this firmware?
Thanks for reply,
David

W8... Phone isnt suppose to power on when its charging?
Funny, mine stocked 2.1 always power on when im charging it.. from the first day that i buy it..

Mine stocket 2.1 version when was powered off and connected to charger it starting initializing but it not booted fully it only shows big battery charging icon on black screen that's was all.

Mine does that to. Firmware 2.1-update1. Before, on 1.6, the phone booted fully. Now, it stays off, but charges (with big charing icon on screen).

Yes exactly as ppirate wrote. FW I have been using before was 2.0.A.0.504 stock.

I have reflashed phone back to stock firmware version 504 and here is screenshot. Tried to root phone offline charching still working. After installing xrecovery menu is phone starting from powered off state after pluging in charger.

Same here. When plug the phone, if it's turned off it boots on. This happened after installing xrecovery or jit; instead before update when off only showed battery icon when charging.

For sure this is not problem also for me at all, I was only interested in why this happened.

It will be a change in the chargemon file that xRecovery requires to hijack the boot... There might a way to edit this to have both features... however if Z wasn't able to do it then.. good luck to the person who tries

Phone bricked, cannot charge, need help ASAP

I need help with this NOW if anyone can. I figured I'd go ahead and make a thread for it so it would get seen. I was trying to update to 2.1 and something went wrong. Long story short the battery drained and now even when it's plugged into the wall all it does is flash its little red light. If I can get it to charge I think I can get things working again but as it stands I don't even know if it is charging. If I have it plugged into the wall and remove the battery the led turns green. If I put the batt back in afterwards it will go off after a bit and eventually "turn on" (in this case that just means that the screen comes on but is completely black but backlit) but there is no led indication at all so i don't know if it's charging or what. It doesn't seem to be. I really need help asap. Thanks in advance.
Silly question perhaps.. have you tried putting it into flash mode for SEUS (phone off hold back key, plug in USB cable)...?? does it register the phone?
Open pc companion hold back button and insert the micro Ian until it says stop it should then tell you your software is already the latest but if there's a problem you can use the repair option. Hth

Tried it just now, nothing.
My suggestion would be to plug it in for a few hours then try again. Or take battery out completely and try the back button without a battery. Might work. Might not. Sorry. Doubt the phone is bricked tho.

Just out of interest how long have you left it on the charge for? Because the red light flashes while charging until 10% and I remember once when my battery fully drained it did that for a few minutes until phone turned on again. Leave it for a while if you haven't done so.
The reason I ask is, incase you saw red light flashing and took it off charge straight away thinking its faulty? Like I said it sometimes takes a while to turn on fully when battery has died.
Edit: I know this is unhelpful, but that's why when you update via SEUS it says to ensure battery has 50%

I got he same problem 3 weeks ago. i could not get the phone to boot anymore even after trying all the unbrick method available here. so i sent it to sony ericsson service and they changed the motherboard.
okay, been charging for a while now and still have the red light. Pretty confident it isn't charging.
Plz try another usb cablr. I know about 20 people whoms usb cable accidently died and the phones cannot charge anymore ....

But the phone won't even boot. Will the battery charge while it's off? or when it's on a black screen? I know 2.1 lets it charge when it's off now, but the OP said the update screwed up.
Other suggestions that may take some time:
1. Find someone else who has an X10 and charge it in their phone.
2. Bring it to your phone provider and ask them to charge it.
3. Bring it to your phone provider and exchange the battery (temporarily?).
4. Buy an external wall charger (one that lets you charge the battery directly, not in the phone).
I ended up bypassing the phone and charging the battery directly via a macgyvered usb cable. Don't ask. lol. But I got it charged enough to use the se update tool and restore it back to the original rom. I'll try the update to 2.1 later after I get this thing charged all the way up. Thanks guys.

[Q] Charging Problem

Hi
When I turned my X10 mini off and I put it in charge, it turned on automatic.
Also I tried to turn that off while charging, but it turned on again.
What is my phone problem?
Happens the same thing with me. I think is because rooting the phone, i'm not sure. Can someone explain that for us?

I think so;
It's because of rooting or Installing xRecovery.
You right bud maybe xrecovery too, but i still wait for a dev reply.
Hi guys... does anyone know how to disable usb chargeing when phone is connected to the computer??
*charging ...
xrecovery disables charging while off (offline charging) if your on the SE rom look on the xrecovery thread for offline charging fix or pester the dev (dont really not a good idea might annoy them) just wait patiently for the devs to add it
It even starts when using stock Firmware.
I think, its beacause of the software for loading a li-ion-accu properli works only when the wohle system boots up.

Exactly! Then LiPo / LiIo requires an active charger that's probably why the phone starts up when you charge a phone is switched off ..
If you understands what I mean ....
mine also happened like that, everytime i turn off, it turned back on, and even while i'm not charging

green light bootloop

hi everybody
i got a x10i today and the guy had it before tried to root it.

Actually, after charing try also reflashing firmware just in case. I hope it helps you, succes. Battery stats may be corrupted if I guess it right.
ok, i charged it for about 18 hours now and flashed the phone again but still the same, ...i turn the phone on the green light blinks up and the screen starts lighting for about 30 seconds, ..after that the phone restarts
i flashed with bin4arys x10 flasher, the generic rom
is this ok if the phone is orange austria branded? ...because seus or pc companion does not work anymore for update. donno why, x10 flasher just works fine, says everything is ok

I think you should really try SEUS. It's the best way to repair your phone if Flashtool doesn't work. It's also the easiest way. It SHOULD work, if it doesn't you're doing something really wrong.
This is what you are going to do:
You have to recharge the battery outside the phone, in that state the phone doesn't allow you to charge.
Then using flashtool you need to install branded or generic 1.6 donut you can grab one from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872298
Im with Orange dominicana i used the firmware from
france found in the post.
Othewise SEUS will always prompt you that you have the latest software installed (Assuming that you are using the 2.1 Eclair right now).
After you have installed the 1.6 regardless if it worked or not, connect it to SEUS try to update and just wait (if SEUS doesn't want to update as you mentioned before try to uninstall it and downlad the latest version)
If that doesn't work let me know i have tried other methods that worked for me.
You can see my post i was having the same issue.
It's called Xperia X10i restarting loop.

My phone suddenly stopped. It was working.
One night i was charging my phone and using it side by side, suddenly it turned off with lines on the screen.
I want to local mobile repairer, he re-flashed it and started working again but only for 2-3 hours.
After that it does not turn on. I connected for 24 hours, charging but no lights.
It can a battery problem .. ?
Update:

Hello, try flash Kernel+Baseband. You probably lost that Kernel, if blackscreen all way long.
Whitefang
From all the phones I've used this usually happens when the battery is completely busted.
See if you can get your hands on another battery and try?
Good luck!!!
This happened twice for me.
Try leaving your phone in wall charger (not in PCs USB) for at least two hours and try again,
Hope that it will help.
Flash the Kernel and the Baseband

[Q] Xperia U won't charge unless powered off when plugged in to main

Hi,
I have an Xperia U which suffered a broken screen from something being dropped on the phone. I replaced the screen but since then I seem to get the following charging problem.
If the phone is ON, it will not charge from USB PC or Mains charger, despite the phoning showing a charging icon and reporting 'Charging' in the Battery parts of settings.
If the phone is OFF, it will charge. During this charging, if the phone is switched ON, the phone will continue to charge!.
Any ideas please?
Gavin

Basically, if the phone is on when the charger is connected, the phone shows that its charging but it doesn't charge, the battery continues to drain.
The phone only charges when switched off. Whilst it is charging I can switch it on and it continues charging.
I guess to summarise, if the phone is on when the charger is connected then the phone doesn't charge!!
Any ideas?
Gavin
Even i face the same problem

Wipe all data and re flash the firmware. If your bootloader is unlocked fastboot the kernel again too

no, this is not a solution; I`ve tried another charger, USB cable, battery, factory reset, flashed new firmware... problem persist... at service center told me thad USB connector have no problem, so is the chance that problem be in CPU?
I had this problem with the new 3.4 kernel on the XS you see. It was because I flashed and didn't fastboot the kernel. Thought it may be the same for you
When you flashed new firmware did you completely wipe the phone clean?

If you done nothing to your phone like root or unlocking bootloader then I think it is hardware defect
