Does anyone know if there is a mximum number of apps you can download from the market? Even though I have plenty of memory left on the phone, I am only allowed to download a certain amount of apps and then the phone tells me installation unsuccessful due to memory. I have over 3 gb on phone and 10 on card. Any help would be appreciated!
Your internal memory is probably full. That even happened to me on the Evo. You should begin installing apps on your sd card. Get apps2sd or another app like that. You may have to have root access.. I'm not sure.
Install them on the SD Card just like @Adamp24 said. There is no limit as to how many apps you can download; only limited by internal or external memory.
Also, remember that when installing apps to the SD card the app will be tied to it. So if you remove the card and try and run the app you may get a force close.
I have 225apps installed from market on my Droid. No need for SD card and no error messages or low memory DroidX rules all

Are you sure, that there is no limit for the applications?
I am using link2sd, so I have a lot of free memory...
But I am unable to install more than 1023 applications altogether.
(I know, I know, maybe I should delete some of them, but anyhow...)
Am I doing something wrong? Can I do something to have more applications?
(MyAudio Tablet 7, Android version 4.0.4, by the way...)

Has anyone been able to successfully move an app from the internal storage to an sd card on the NT? I have tried using App2sd and Astro file manager to move apps, but every time I move one, it breaks the app and I end up have to reinstall it to the main storage.
How can I move or initially install apps to my sd card?
Thanks in advance.
Moves, but disappears
SuperToolbox moves them to the SDcard nicely, and they work until I reboot. Then they are GONE!
Is there a cure for this?
Apps2SD/ZDBox?
Has anyone had any better luck with this? Both Apps2SD and ZDBox break the app. And at least in the case of ZDBox, the application never even shows up on the SD card when I do a search.
Had to ask: Why would you want to move an app to SD? I understand that the nook has sufficient storage space to handle a lot (something like 13GB) of apps.

in all honesty it weird that you would want to install apps on to your SD card since you basically have 13GB of access for apps. Installing apps from your SD card goes into the data folder on the NT if i am not mistaken, and apps take very little space unless you are downloading games which have like additional content that takes like 1gb of space. Even then you should still have sufficient storage...
you guys know that we can only use 1 gig of all that internal storage, right? because the other 12 gigs are dedicated to Barnes and Noble content...

Have you read any of the threads on the partitioning of the device?
Hey guys,
My phone is troubling me at the moment. Its a rooted HTC HD2 running the Android Nexus.
Now the problem is, that when I install an app from the marketplace it always installs it to my internal memory (approx 128mb) which by now is full.
My SD card has 10GB free space and only has music, videos etc on it but no apps.
I thought that once my internal memory was full it would automatically install the apps to my SD card but it doesn´t do that. It just wont let me download anymore apps and tells me there is insufficent memory.
How do I get it to install the apps to my SD?
Thank you!
Bump! .....

Use this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd&hl=en.
Some apps seem to install to internal memory by default, and some to sd card if one is present.
Even more annoyingly however, many of the apps that default to SD card if you move them to internal memory MOVE BACK TO THE SD CARD when you update them.
Is there any way to prevent apps from automatically installing to the SD card? Or at the very least, installing to SD card is fine... but to prevent them from moving BACK to the sd card when you update them?
I've seen this question in 3 different topics on XDA and none of them is answered. My question is similar to this; Apps are installed on internal memory but app data is on external. As a result i have a completely empty internal memory and a full sd card. Tried possible suggestions on other sites but didn't work. Why can't we choose where to install the app data? How to move the app data back, since app2sd wouldn't work on this situation.
FYI, buy a bigger memory card is NOT a solution, it's a workaround for the actual problem..

Looks like your problem can be solved with "link2sd" which gives a permanent option on where to install apps. Search it in Google Play.
In my case (i have three different memory blocks) you have to do a repartition and a custom rom but i don't want to go there so i just mapped the drives with editing vold.fstab and bought a bigger memory card
Hi
i just rooted my sgs2 and i got 16gb external sd card, i have seen lots of good apps and i want to install them but before that i have read that some people recomend to install apps2sd to save space on the phone but other said that with that amount of space you dont need to install this app, also i readed that some roms dont support the app, so its good idea to install apps2sd???
I really like apps and i will check 3 or 5 roms. If its a good a idea, should i install first, before any other app??
Greetings from MX

I don't know apps2sd.
But it sounds like it moves your apps to the external sd card.
That can also be done with stock Android system: Setting > Applications > SD card.
Then click on the app you want to move and say move to sd card.
I had some apps on my external sd card, but some apps are loaded a little bit later/slower, when they are on the external sd card.
So, I recommend that all apps, which you need very often and especially direct after booting the phone, should stay on the internal sd card.
And after flashing some "early" ICS Rom versions, I lost my apps which were on the external sd card.
I had to re-install them from Play store.
But this was only an issue of some ICS ROMs/kernels, and should be fixed now.
Anyway, that caused me to move all apps back to the internal sd card.
I just want to be on the "safe side" ;-)
you should absolutely not install app2sd (the app of that name), because the functionality is already present in all roms.
in settings -> apps you can move apps.
however, in contrast to the previous post, apps are moved between the /data/ partition of the internal sd card and the /sdcard/ partition of the internal sd card.
as you might know, /data/ has 2GB, /sdcard/ has about 12GB. You can check on your current storage space occupation in settings -> storage.
if you have enough free space on data, leave your apps there, as sdcard is a universal storage space, that can also contain music, photos, videos and so on and since this space is also accessible to users that are not rooted, it is more versatile and therefor more valuable.
Since both partitions are on the same sd card, you don't have to worry about speed differences.
After moving some apps using apps2sd I had to restore a nandroid because it messed up my system.

great i wont install apps2sd, but now what kind of files or info is recommended to be in the external SDcard?
I have on the external sd card my movies, music, photos and videos recorded with the phone camera, my titanium backup folder, few custom rom zip files, nandroids etc.

^Ditto. Keep your media and big files on external SD, keep your apps on the internal app memory if you can (its around 2gb in size, unless you go over that there is no need to put apps on SD).

Pretty much a obvious question for most people . Do install it ! It moves apps to SD ( wow ) , clearing space for many many other stuff . So , why not install it ?
Thank me if i helped ~
well iam fully loaded an my opinion is the app notifies u wen u install a app,but on the hard core side wen many apps r moved to sd ,ive crashd sometimes..i think it was better if there was a option to store apps directly on the ext sd card instead of phone or int sd card...
Try GL to SD from the market, posted a threat like this a month ago and someone recommend me this.

I used the Application Manager to select the apps and move some of them to SD card as the System Data has very low memory left (checked using DiskUage app). This was causing apps to not get installed. I want to know if this is an issue with the phone or should I download and use another app from the play store to move my apps to SD card?
(I'm using I9300, India)
Its been a week and still no response. Can anyone look into this in their S3 which does not have a custom ROM?
If you are rooted you can use link2sd to increase storage space. Foldermount will move game data and downloads to sd for even more space.
If not rooted you have no options.
