OK after intensive research and tried every possible fix there is, I'm now officially stuck.
When going in to the Market app and trying to download or update something it just says "Starting download..." and stays there.
I've tried force closing market > clearing cache > uninstall update.
That doesn't work. I've tried resetting to factory defaults, and that doesn't work.
This was the case when I also flashed to UK Generic 2.0.A.0.504 a couple of days ago. Which I there after restored back to my working Global Generic 2.0.A.0.504 via xRecovery.
Now I've flashed to Nordic Combined (B) 2.0.2.A.0.24 and it turns out that it has the very same problem.
I could chose to go back to my backed-up Global Generic firmware via xRecovery, but the whole point in upgrading was to get the latest firmware.
I've then read that logging out from Talk and logging back in should solve the problem. But when I try to open the Talk app it just opens up and disappears again like it Force Closes or crashes.
This must be some sort of Google malfunction in the way it connects to my Google account. I've tried reflashing with SEUS, FlashTool and the result always is the same, no Market working.
Hope there is some Wizard that has a way to fix this.
Not a lot you can do if the fixes don't work as mentioned on the other 1000 or so threads on the subject.
I know there is many threads on the subject.
But those didn't help. It can't be right that a simple update renderes a phone completely useless and nothing can be done about it.

Like I said, if it's not working then there isn't much you can do. There was a thread the other day about a "server issue" with gmail, and the op took umbrage with the suggestion that that's what it might actually be, guess what, it was. So sit it out for a bit because the issue is more than likely their end if none of the fixes have worked.
Well it's not at their end, because if I restore back to my old 2.0.A.0.504 my market works again.
When you flashed your phone, did it come with the old version of Market or new version? If it was the old version and it happened to be able to update itself, then there shouldn't be anything wrong with the Market since it was able to update itself.(assuming)
I was having the same problem yesterday when I flashed to the latest version of Global Generic - x10a and rooted the phone myself. The download would say starting, but nothing would download. I had the same results you did after going through all the steps that were supposed to fix it.
After I left it alone for a several minutes, it just started to work out of the blue when I tried again.
Give it some time and see happens. If you have already waited an hour, then I don't know what to say.
Also, which way did you use to flash your X10?

I used to stuck like that. Yes I also did a lot of research, It ended up just like yours.
If you have no idea for now I suggest try to clean the cache partition through xRec, it used to work once for me.
The other ways I succeed is to play around with the market updater as someone told.
I tried to freeze them, but not working.
So I uninstalled it, not working.
So I reinstalled it again, not working.
So at last I decide to clean the cache of Market and Market Updater... suddenly I got new version of market and everything turned to normal.
So, I'm quite sure it's something to do with a cache. I don't believe in a flashing would be a cure for everything now.
Those google talk, google acc, googlemail.com gmail.com blah blah blah thing, it just trigger to change (or currupt) the cache.
From what i have found all seams to work as soon as you connect to a WIFI network
what apps are not downloading
mine were
Angry Birds
Skype
Google Maps
Facebook for Android
Opera mobile
seems to be apps over 4mb
if we find that its the same apps could be abigger issue

Hey everyone,
I need serious help, I've been trying to fix this problem for a couple of days but I have had no luck at all. I have searched the X10 forum for countless hours but haven't found any solid solution. I realize that many people are having problems with the 2.1 market and I tried following the advices on those forums but none of them worked.
When I try to download something from the market, it would take forever to download and the process would add to the queue on the notification bar (see screenshot). Every time I access the market, it adds another process to the notification bar. Now I'm up to 50 ongoing process, and I have no idea why it's doing this.
So far, I've tried clearing the data and cache on the market, flashing the phone to a newer firmware (now I'm on Build number: 2.1.B.0.1, Baseband: 2.1.67), factory resetting the phone, opening Google Talk (some how its suppose to work) and even uninstalling the market from phone. The funny thing is even when the market is uninstalled, the downloading process still shows on the notification bar. I'm a noob when it comes to programming but I don't think the problem is from the market itself cuz even when I factory reset my phone and uninstalled the market, the process is still ongoing and displays on the notification bar.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Maybe I'm suppose to delete a file or kill a command or something? Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm really desperate to get my X10 fixed. Everything works perfectly besides the market so I can't download or update any of my existing apps. Thanks in advance!
Find a new vending.zip and install with recovery. Have seen it posted plenty on the forums.

I've tried wiping the cache on the market and installing a new market via Root Explorer and the market still doesn't work. I can't find vending.zip anywhere so I can't flash my phone, any idea where i can find the vending.zip??
Try this through recovery

I tried flashing the NewMarket.zip through XRecovery 0.3 and it didn't work either it uninstalled my existing market and I can't install the market through Root Explorer either. It says "There is a problem parsing the package". Do I need a newer version of XRecovery?
I installed that version through recovery v.03 .
Sorry cant be of more help.

I'm running EWJET LauncherProEx V001ex ROM but when I flashed to the generic 2.1.B.0.1, the market still doesn't work. I'm thinking of flashing it back to 1.6 then to 2.1 again? Thanks for the help so far, really appreciate it but I seem to have no luck with this at all
Have u tried to format everything, and install the rom once again over the existing rom?
Yep, I've factory reset the phone, reset through XRecovery before installing the new ROM and the market still won't work
So, recently when I tried to upgrade to gingerbread (RevolutionRom) I followed all of the instructions to a tease. It worked, but I couldn't get phone service and the battery didn't last 5 hours.
ANYWAYS I went back to trigger and used MyBackup Root to back up all of my apps and data. When I tried to download an app from the Android Market, it would start to show it downloading in the top left corner, then it went away. Recently the new android market came out, so I installed it hoping that it would fix the problem, but it came up with an error "insufficient space on your device" I reflashed the rom, and I even flashed a different rom.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I can download apps either. Im on the new market and the old one wont even open. This one tells me an error has occurred please try again. Wtf?

If so, does it work?
Installed it last night, it's a slight improvement on the previous version which was a nightmare, there is still some lag which needs to be addressed, only a slight improvement.

Have you had any issues in installing apps with regards to clicking on an app, then clicking the install button, and then you just get the loading screen, but it never actually goes through with the install?
This is the problem i keep getting - i flashed the stock firmware on last night and it updated the market but fails to pull all my apps back from my google account...
Only way i can get them to install is via the market website through pushing them over the air...
Be interesting to know if this is as a result of the KG6 firmware i flashed before going back to the stock, or whether it is just a bug with the new market...
All works fine for me, on stock 2.3.3
Where can we get the apk with this new Market?

I got something like that.
I flashed my SGS2 to the latest XXKH3, wiping user data and cache. The first time I entered my google account my apps starts installing itself over wifi (so far so good)... During this process I launched Android Market app to see the progress, and I see the Android Market app updated... nice! But I saw that pending downloads with no progress. I switched wifi off, and the downloads continue over 3g connection... But I don't want to use my data plan downloading apps, I back to wifi but still the problem, no downloading progress...
I cleared cache for Android Market, but the same behavior
Any solutions will be appreciated... thank you

I got exactly the same issue.
This is what prompted me to go back to stock as I presumed it may be something to do with the unofficial version of KH3 causing the problem, but after going back to stock i still had the problem.
However, after leaving the phone alone for a couple of hours it seems to have fixed itself, and i can now download via wifi (albeit i'm testing it using a mates tethered sgs2).
So yesterday my phone popped up with an update. I installed it not thinking anything of it. Well now my ZTE Supreme won't work. It turns on but it will not connect to the Virgin Mobile Service and I cannot get the camera to work and it runs slow and when I go to click on an app the phone basically freezes. What are my options?

Was your phone rooted and / or modified before the update? Is it an official Virgin phone or flashed from another service? Please share the build version of the software update. But basically your 3 options are to factory reset, reload original system (after reset), or installing a custom recovery and custom rom.

I hadn't done any rooting to the device. Also I did a reset like 5 times already. Didn't help. (By that I mean I went into the setting and hit the reset button and it wiped everything.) That didn't work at all. Also this is an official ZTE Supreme I bought from their website about 6 months ago.
Where do I go to get the build version? I see baseband version which is N9810B01. Is that what you wanted?
I am getting really pissed thinking that my phone might be ****ed because of an update :/
Just thought of a possible issue with the data... See if you can update the profile and prl in the Settings. Most likely will be near the bottom above About Devices, or in About Devices. If that doesn't work, dialing this: ##rtn# is supposed to wipe user data and activation data so upon reboot should attempt to reconnect to Virgin services. As far as the camera, well, try clearing the caches of the camera and gallery in the Settings / Application Manager / All. As far as the slowness, I can't think of anything besides reloading the OS or a custom one. If the issue is in the /system then factory data resets don't touch that part.

You can try this app to get your MSL (also referred to as SPC depending on the situation) http://www.4shared.com/android/M8qqY_ge/MEID_Converter_052.html
But I provided links to both, the files you need, and the guide for how to install them. Did you not even bother to click on them?

It'd be best if you read through the thread and then asked questions afterwards if there is something that isn't spelled out somewhere throughout the thread. They aren't THAT long and you could learn a lot. This stuff is not rocket science, but it does need patience and reading comprehension. The threads there are populated by n00bs and advanced users as well, so there's a good chance someone has had the same questions as you do. The people on those threads will also probably be more likely to help as it's not a very popular phone and not much support for. xda doesn't even have a specific forum for it. But, as you start, you'll need a working Windows (XP/Vista/7/8/8.1) computer or Linux, if you're more comfortable with that for some reason. A good data sync cord. The correct drivers. You probably only need the system.img, but won't hurt to do the others to get a complete full restore.

Any ideas? Other apps I installed to try (eg Signal) fail too. Stock ROM.
This is my fist post, have visited many times. Here we go.
As a LG V20 owner, I recommended the V30+ to two people at work. In a matter of 24 hours, both units stopped sending and receiving emails. I have taken the sims out and tested these in other phones, not a sim issue. I then moved my sim (Telstra Aus) into the V30 and only in the Messaging app, it came up with the message No SIM. This I thought might be a sim slot issue, moved it into the other slot closest to the outside. This worked for about an hour. Then the same issue occurred again. It has to be software, an update or a network change that has caused this. I did a network setting reset, have cleared cache for messaging app. SAFE MODE etc. Very strange.

Yes I used Messenger app for SMS and this failed. It sounds network setting related but still testing.
I had the same problem on my V30, suddenly SMS has stopped working. (I'm using Textra app)
I checked the sim card on the other phone and it was ok.
I found on the internet that other V30 are also affected.
The solution was to install the Message app from Google and run it.
Now SMS is working on Textra and also on the stock app.
Whoa, didn't see this before I posted in another thread. Same problem here, but I already had Messages installed! Wonder if it's just this phone for some reason?? My partner is also on VZ (S7) and can send SMS
edit: apparently it's something Google broke. Temp fix is to disable Carrier Services!
I just recently started having text messages not sending. I am on Verizon LG V30 using the vs996 30c debloated rom. Everything has worked fine until last week when I installed the latest Resurrection Remix rom. Since these roms’ tethering and WiFi do not work, I tried installing the us998 modem zip. I don’t know if that is the problem or not, but, I could not get it to work. I have since reinstalled my 99630c debloated rom and have now lost the ability to send text messages, although I can receive texts just fine. I have done clean installs and dirty installs of the rom. I, just yesterday, did a restore of a previous 99630c backup, changed messaging apps, etc. I even reinstalled Verizon’s messaging app.The messaging problem still persists.
i just got off the phone with a very nice Verizon tech, who spent about 40 minutes trying to help me. No success. She said everything appears to be working fine on their end. She ran out of things to try. She thinks my rooting the phone might possibly have something to do with it, which I agree with.
Does anyone have a working link to John Fawkes vs99630c zip? The one one his zip thread does not download for me. I thought I would try starting again with that zip. Maybe I need to try a different modem download?
Any suggestions much appreciated. Thx

See my solution directly above your question. It's not "rooting" that caused it, it's "Google" that caused it. Uninstalling or freezing Carrier Services will fix it. Did for me.
Check the litany of * reviews from today alone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.ims&showAllReviews=true
Also, both the standard and debloat ROMs for VS99630c from their respective threads and androidilehost are downloading fine for me.
Thx, but did not work for me. I went into TiBu and found carrier services sitting in the non installed portion of the apps. So, I installed it (first with app, then with data) and tried both messaging apps with it installed. That did not work, so I went back into TiBu again and froze it. It still does not work.
I have tried downloading the standard zip from Fawkes zip thread 8 or 10 times or so. It gets to about 8 or 9% , then gives the message unsuccessful.
I will keep trying. Thx for your suggestions.
As an edit. My phone has also started giving me problems with my fingerprint recognition and my phone dialed has suddenly changed looks forcing me to constantly press and swipe an unlock button to keep the dial pad open if I hesitate too long in punching in numbers or trying to change to speakerphone from there.
I don’t know if it is something I have done/installed (wrong modem perhaps?).
And having the new XDA transition at the same time certainly didn’t help .

I don't know what to tell you about the downloads, confirmed they work.
You don't need to freeze CS, you can literally just uninstall it from the Play store. It's just an enhancement for the Google MEssages app they broke. if you don't use Messages, you surely don't need it. I don't know what you meant about CS showing up in the "non installed portion of the apps". It's either installed and frozen or thawed, or it's not. Maybe you had a backup there for reasons? Regardless, you certainly need to reboot after changing CS, not sure if you did that.
You have alot of other issues coming from RR, then flashing a modem, then trying to dirty flash VS996. Since you have TB already, you should definitely backup your apps, then Maybe clean flash VS99630c once you've followed the WTF thread. You should probably wipe your system after the other ROMs and just start over.
That certainly was a quick answer. In TiBu, under “backup/restore”, I have all the apps that are currently on my phone—a very long list. This list can be frozen, etc., and is bolded and colored fonts. Scrolling down that list, it ends and a list starts that is not bolded and has lines thru it. I guess these are apps, etc. that I have, at one time, had on the phone and can be re installed via TiBu.
I was trying to “start over” by downloading the vs99630c rom and try it. Where were you thinking I need to start over at? I wish to work only on “zips” via twrp, as I don't have much luck/knowledge with kdz and computers.
Thx, again.
Again, I'm the furthest thing from the expert here, but he's on travel! Check the WTF thread, because I'm not sure what happens when you wipe with the flashes you've made. But you'd probably start from 6.7. MORE TWRP ACTIONS here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629
I would reboot to TWRP and do a complete system backup in case this goes tits up you can restore that from TWRP. Then I would boot to OS and back up everything in TB, then delete all uninstalled backups through the batch actions. Then reboot to TWRP again, wipe, install the VS99630c ROM, install MAgisk, reboot. Make sure your install works then restore your apps through TB.
Ok, thx. I wish to install the vs99630c rom zip now (not the debloated) and am unable to download it from JohnFawkes LG V30 vs 996-30c thread from here on xda. I have tried via my phone about a dozen times now and it stops now generally after the 10 to 20% zip has downloaded. I even tried it a couple of times downloading onto a laptop. Can you possibly point me to a different link that I can try? I need to be on Verizon’s vs 996 and not on the 998 rom, I think? Sorry for the big bother.
Well, I did finally find a download mirror on here from chazzmatts thread using his mirror. It is downloaded now. I will try this installation before going thru the wtf steps you referred me to. If this doesn’t work, then i will try it.
thx, again for your help.
As an update, I did a clean wipe and installed this zip. So far, it seems to have settled things down for. I was able to text (2) and make a phone call. Both worked. I did agree to everything they asked (I normally refuse things such as location, etc.). I’m happy for now. Later, I may try to reinstall the debloated zip.
Ideveraux, thx for all your help on here. I really appreciate it.
Make sure you backup TWRP and TB. Just saying!
And to the OP, I’m sorry I hijacked your thread. I hope you got yours solved, too.
I had this problem after owning the phone for several days.
I'm not sure why, but when i installed Google's "Messages" app, the problem was fixed.
I didn't have to run the messages app, just install it. The stock app suddenly started working again.
I then uninstalled google messages (without ever running it), and the next day I had the same problem.
Once again; I installed google messages, and the problem solved itself without ever running google messages.
This time; I haven't uninstalled google messages.
I'm guessing that something about SMS settings got messed up (i checked them when the problem first happened and couldn't find a problem), and installing a new message app restored the settings to normal.
TLDR: if SMS stops working, Install Google Messages. Problem solved.

I tried that initially and that's not the accepted fix at all. Read above.
