Hey guys I have a quick question about receiving double and sometimes triple text messages. I just flashed the newest Axura Rom on my vibrant coming from stock Eclair 2.1. I keep receiving double and triple text messages and I have tried renaming the mms.apk via Root Explorer but then my messaging app is just gone. Also tried using terminal command "message -aosp" but that didn't work either. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Do you have mutliple apps, like handcent, go sms and the stock messanger?
I imagine you do and just have notifications for both apps... maybe not, but that is my first guess.
Nope I had handcent but uninstalled it and I don't see any other messaging apps other than the one that came with axura. I've looked in apps, titanium backup, and root explorer.

Are the notification icons all the same?
If they are the same, do you receive mutiple notifications, or is it that the SMS is just received multiple times in the same thread?
I only get one notification but double or triple sms

Might try to reflash the rom. Sometimes that helps to get the quirks out.

^^^ that has happened to me on the stock rom. That is not necessarily an axura issue then.
Yeah I'm thinking that's the only option I have left. I'm pretty new to all this stuff, would I have to go back to stock and then re flash or is it ok if it's the same rom to flash right over it?

I wouldn't go back to stock to reflash that same rom. You might do a cache wipe and go to advance and wipe dalvik tho.

Alright sounds good I'll give that a try thanks a lot

Sure thing. Hope you get it straightened out. Its annoying having a small issue on a otherwise great rom.

I'm having the same problem. I'm receiving two identical text over a period of 5 minutes usually.
I'm on stock rom though it only started recently.
Any idea on fixing this without flashing a new rom? I'm on the Bell i9000m and I'm sure you've all heard how unstable it is to flash it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ok, so I have been having some major freezing and getting stuck on a black screen issues. Currently have Rooted 2.1 Stock Rom with JI6 update and OCLF V.2 installed on my Vibrant. Thinking about doing a full factory reset and also wiping the 16gb internal memory too. Then reinstalling everything from scratch. Will that make any difference? Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

Oh yea also locks up on the Gallery and other Apps some times. Then nothing responds then have to take the battery off to fix it!also using Launcher Pro Plus as my Launcher!

Try this...
If you have ROM manager, try using the fix permissions option. Seemed to work for me after I flashed Bionix. I'm not sure if you're overclocked or not either. If so, you may need to check your scaling settings. Not sure if these work for you, I'm still in noob status, just trying to pick things up along the way. Would hate to get flamed for asking a question......
Just using Stock Rom not a custom Rom. Think I might just undo everything and start fresh. Just wish I could find a working download link for the TMobile unofficial Froyo Rom. But not having any luck since it was removed by the xda. devs!

Even with a stock ROM, you might want to tryr fixing permissions, seemed to work for me when I was rooted with a stock ROM....just a thought.
^^ please see the noob guide in my siganture... the ALT METHOD is exactly what you are looking for.

Ok just did that. Seems a little faster but the Market seems to take longer to load and also it changed my font style for some reason? Will test it out I guess

Recently my thunderbolt has been sending 4 copies of the same text message to everyone. Has anyone encountered this problem or know of a fix?

Mine sent a message three times today. Not sure why. Using Go SMS Pro.
This is a Verizon network issue, along with several others regarding the thunderbolt. Hopefully it will be fixed soon .

I'm having a different kind of texting issue.
Sometimes when people text me, I'll pull down the notification bar to reply, write my message, and try to send. But the "Send" button is greyed out! I have to close out and reopen for it to work again.
Are you running a custom Rom or a different sms app than stock?

Stock for both.
EDIT: I just realized you probably might not have been talking to me. Oops! If you were though, disregard this edit.

Yes that was directed at you. For the little time that i was on stock i was noticing that too. I think that it is a bug with the sense text. I disabled everything in stock sms and started using go sms, seams to have fixed it for me.
Sense seems to have some issues updating it's texting widget for me, I'll get the notification for a new sms, I'll go to my widget screen to read it and it won't be there, it's not until I go through the notification bar to read it that it shows up, kinda annoying.
For some reason, sometimes when i go to send a textmessage if i have sent a picture message to someone the picture will start popping up in everyones textmessages untill i restart the phone. Anyone know why??
running bionix 1.3.1
I haven't come across this problem, sorry! & I'm running bionix 1.3.1 as well! Maybe you just need a fresh install of the rom again! I'm sure that was your backup plan anyway if you didn't get a simpler fix from here!

I had the a similar issue. The music would pop whenever I touch the screen. I would give me that bad radio signal sound.

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same for you. However I read that going back to stock fixed it for many others. I tried it, and it worked. I haven't had the issue again. Some were saying that it's an issue with CM7 that does something to the phone. I don't know if you've flashed CM7 or not, but going back to stock might help you.
This will get you back to stock:

I was on cm 7 but now I am on com rom so u want me to go back to stock unrooted

Yeah, that's what I did. Make a backup just in case though. Go back to stock, and then reinstall everything again. That worked for me, and for many others. The links are in my earlier post.
I've always had an issue when moving from one rom to another. Essentially I backup my close to 10,000 sms messages, and when I install the new rom attempt to restore them via SMS Backup and Restore app. After doing so it results in the stock messaging app becoming unusable and crashes, which results in lost service and a slew of other problems. As of late I started freezing the stock messaging app with TB and use Go SMS instead, but now I can't receive MMS. Anybody have a sure fire solution? Thanks
No one wants to help? I'd really appreciate some input. Thanks

I have over 10k messages I use to restore (SMS Backup & Restore) without problems, gone through basically every rom you can think of.
And yes I also use GoSms, cause after 1k messages the stock SMS decides it wants to lag like crazy.
Does the stock messaging app crash even when you're not using it? (When you leave it unfrozen)
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
Yes it crashes regardless. I wouldn't mind if I could leave it alone and not worry about it, but whenever I boot the phone back up and its unfrozen it crashes my phone and it loses signal. Miui is the only rom this didn't happen to, which is why I'm still using it.

Still looking for a solution. The newer version of backup and restore lets you restore message from a certain date on, but not before that date. I feel like if I restored it in two stages with a reboot in between it would have any issues, but I have yet to find a simple method of doing so.

I was having this same issue after restoring my SMS/MMS messages. Then I used SMS Backup + to back them all up to my gmail account. After that I wiped them all out from my phone, and the stock app was still crashing, so I started using GO SMS again. A couple days later, the stock app just started working by itself all of a sudden when I got a notification for an SMS message in my status bar. I'm not sure what fixed it.

Did you try clearing the sms cache through manage apps?? sometimes doing this helps clear up glitches, I did this when I had the Phantom VM bug. not sure if it will work for this but its worth a shot.
Hope this helps
Thanks for all the input guys. I was able to restore my messages in 4 chunks. Worked great, just took forever. Thanks

Hey, I saw this has been a while, but I am trying to do the exact same thing as you. How were you able to restore it in chunks?
