[Q] How can I remove the splash? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hello! I bought the Optimus One in a telecomunications operator's shop (Movistar). In the first splash the LG logo appears (I don't want to remove it), and then, in the second splash, you can see Movistar logo. The second splash is the one that I want to remove. How can I do that?

You need to use a custom rom, e.g. Prime or Void, those are the two main ROM's for the p500, they both have custom spash screens.

So, I have to install custom recovery, and then flash my phone with a custom rom?
Can it brick my device?

If you want to be fully involved in modding, tweaking your phone, then best way is to:
1.Root with z4root,
2.Install custom recovery,
3.Install any good rom.
By doing above you will have full control of your device, you will learn a lot of new things and can apply them on your phone.
But if you simply want a new boot animation, you can do this:
1.Root via z4root,
2,Install absolute system root application from market or other sources,
3.from absolute system root application you can change your boot animation.

I used Absolute System Root Tools, but it changed the android animation, not Movistar's splash.

Or if you don't want to install a custom rom, you can flash an Original LG Firmware.
You can get the firmware following this instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479
And here is how to flash it to the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
I too had the Movistar logo and after flashing an unbranded firmware i got a simple android logo.
Just make sure you read and understand all the instructions befor proceeding.
Cheers

I flashed the phone with some unbranded firmware and it works perfect.

And can you install the original firmware even if you bought the phone in an operator's shop?

[Q] Original Recovery

Can I reinstall original recovery on LG Optimus P500? I didn't make backup, only nandroid backup with custom recovery
Sorry for my english, my native language is spanish
Theoretically it's possible to reinstall via adb or the terminal, but flashing recoveries is dangerous. Most people just advise you to reinstall via KDZ Updater, which installs everything to stock.
Why do you want the original recovery anyway? It just restores factory originals and stuff It's not really that useful, unless you're taking your phone to a service center.
I'm taking my phone to a service center. I can't fin the KDZ for my carrier (movistar - telefonica, Chile).
When I install the custom recovery the cellphone lose the warranty?
I don't know how to undo the installation of the custom recovery via the terminal or adb since I lost the old one.

Most likely. There's a list of original firmware downloads on the Development forum. Check there, but be extremely careful.
EDIT: Wasn't in the list. Try doing the stuff here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479

[Q] Help think phone is bricked

I recently rooted the phone and wanted to install a custom rom. When I tried to back up the current stock rooted rom with rom manager, someone went wrong. So I was then stuck on a flashing black screen. But I can still access Odin/download mode. But whenever I try to flash something, it flashes, but the screen just reboots back to the flashing black screen. Help please I dont know what to do
What firmware base did you start from, and what method did you use to root the phone?
Rom Manager is not recommended for use on the I777 phone. You need a custom kernel which contains ClockworkMod Recovery to back up the phone. Did you try to install ClockworkMod Recovery from Rom Manager?
Need more information before we can help. So, answer the above, and provide as much detail in addition as you can.
I almost messed my phone up by not rooting or flashing a ROM the proper (safe) way and ended up using a return to stock / unroot guide to start fresh and just follow the guides for rooting and installing ROMs from there.

In Need Of Urgent Help! Clockwork mod not working.

Hi there. Let me just start off by saying, despite my efforts, I still have next to no idea as to what I am doing.
My Phone: Galaxy SII i9100T (Australian Telstra variant), ICS 4.03
So today I decided to root my phone and install cyanogenmod 9 following a guide in a magazine (that was written for cyanogenmod 7 if that makes a difference). Initially it told me to root with SuperOneClick, but that wasn't working for my device as the program would eventually not respond.
After snooping around on the internet I eventually ended up rooting my phone (I think) with Odin 1.85 installing an image called CF-Root-SGS2_XW_NEE_LPG-v5.5-CWM5 under the PDA option (as per instructions of one particular website). That worked.
So then I consulted the magazine again, and it said to download the heimdall suite from the cyanogenmod wiki galaxy sII page, and run a program called zadig, list all devices, and change the 'Samsung Android' driver to whatever zadig installs. However, my phone did not come up as that, it came up as two other files, one with a driver called Modem, and the other with a driver that I cannot remember the name of. I can confirm that they were my phone and no other USB devices as they disappeared when I unplugged my phone. I chose the driver that wasn't called Modem. That seemed to work fine.
Next it said to install a clockworkmod image using the heimdall suite. The image was recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-galaxys2 ....I eventually got that to work.
However, no matter what I do now, I cannot get into the clockworkmod recovery screen to install cyanogenmod 9. Did I do something wrong? I think I may have made a mistake with zadig, as now it lists my phone as 4 devices: Samsung_Android, Samsung_Android, Samsung, and MTP.
I know this is an absolute mess of a situation, but I desperately need help. If I cant go through with the installation of cyanogenmod, can I at least reset everything back to normal like it was out of the box?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
You could e-mail the editor of the mag and complain

I suggest you restart from scratch following these steps:
1. read everything about flashing and rooting you can find on this site (read stickies first)
2. same as 1.
3. same as 1.
4. flash the latest stock firmware for your phone
5. root your phone
6. finally flash some other ROM
As a general rule, do not forget to take extra precautions when you flash anything: ALWAYS DO A NANDROID BACKUP IN CWM...
Performs a wipe date , factory reset , then follow the guide;
[GUIDE] ROOT/UNROOT Stock ICS Firmware without flashing unsecure kernel
Simple way to root and unroot stock kernel without flashing insecure kernel.
Don't worry about custom counter and yellow triangle, with this method they never appear, because we only rooting, it's a rooting script not a custom kernel.
This rooting script included Busybox installer.
Rooting
Download this File first and put in your SDCARD
- CWM via stock recovery ;( http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34053267/CWM.zip) , or download zip from http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
- SU-Busybox-Installer.zip ( https://dl.dropbox.com/u/34053267/SU-Busybox-Installer.zip )
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard or external SD
Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Rooted
Method 2
CF_Root + stock kernel + [optional] Mobile Odin Free version
Here, you use an older CF_Root kernel, and flash your newer stock kernel
Quote:
First, get a CF_Root kernel from CF_Root thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399. Just get the nearest one to your ROM. You can download any ICS kernel, it will do the job for the root only purpose
Flash the CF_Root kernel with odin
Now, flash again your stock kernel with odin. You can get a stock kernel from lyriquidperfection thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619525
Do not forget to thank / donate to him
No stock kernels for you? use Mobile Odin free version (see below)
After flashing the stock kernel, root will usually stay and you will be reverted back to your stock recovery instead of CWM recovery

[Q] is root necessary if custom rom is going to be installed?

So I'm not really new to the whole custom rom idea...just new to HTC...had a Samsung Galaxy, and an S2 Skyrocket, both with custom recovery/roms on them, but I have a question about the HTC rom install process...
I've just finished unlocking my bootloader.
Custom recovery will be next.
My question: All the tutorials say unlock bootloader, install recovery, install root, then custom rom.
Is it necessary to root before installing the rom? In my Samsung experiences, the custom roms came with root privelages already, so rooting wasn't necessary...does the same hold true here, so I can just drop a new rom in once I've installed the recovery, or will rooting first be a necessity?
Thanks!!!

Trouble installing roms

Ok guys, Heres what I do & what happens,
(model # C6833)
1- root device
2- install new boot kernel (adv-stock-v4) (( Even tried v5))
3- unlock bootlader (only had to do it the first time, bootloader stays unlocked)
4- install cwm/TWiRP
5- get into TWIRP or CWM & wipe as I should
6- install rom. (It wont install)
7- reboot
8- stuck @ sony logo. & then reboots,
9- reinstall stock rom
This happens every time I try to install a rom.
I also get the message before I reboot, no root, would you like cmw/twirp to fix it, I go with yes. & ive tryed no as well. no difference. Still get stuck @ Sony logo & get reboot loop.
Any ideas ?
Im not new at rooting & roming.
Hey, it sounds like you're installing NUT's dual recovery and are trying to flash a CM/AOSP based ROM? I didn't find it possible to flash non-Sony ROMs using that recovery, myself. What you need to do is to first flash the kernel (boot.img) from the ROM you're trying to flash. You can do this using fastboot with the phone set to fastboot mode. The FlashTool program comes with what you need, and there's a guide to using it in the development forum. The kernel contains the recovery (either CWM or TWRP), so after flashing that, you can boot to recovery and install any CM/AOSP ROM you wish.

I did the flashtool thing. ( I'll edit my post ) I did the boot.img & Im trying to use SlimRom. Everything seems to be fine until I try & install the rom. Then it goes to hell.
Btw, Slimrom is compatable.
So what's the actual error message you get upon installing a ROM?
Something like, installation canceled. could not install rom. It goes threw a few steps. gets a few things installed (or so it seems) & then it hangs & I get that message. I thought, at first, it may have been a corrupt download. But after a few times of downloading it. I kinda think its no longer that.
Have you tried another ROM? Someone else is also having boot trouble with Slim in its development thread.
No actually, I have not. I will soon though now. And report back. First I need a stock U.S. rom. Just in case. Cant seem to find one.
Been using a CE (Central Europe) based stock rom.
