There are some applications from the stock ROM that I'd like to have on the custom ROM I'm running. Is it possible to extract them?
I'm specifically referring to the version of Think Free Office and Sims 3 that came with the T-Mobile ROM. I know that we are not allowed to discuss warez here, since I own a license and right to use these programs, having purchased the phone. I hope I'm not stepping on toes here, but I'd like to have those components in Nero, for example, which I am running, but both of these specifically useful apps are not included.

Is it possible to install some of the default apps from SGS2 stock on cyanogen?
I'd really like to have the video and photo editor to begin with. I tried them from Tricky's ROM kitchen rom, they're deodexed zipaligned etc but won't install.
Any advice?
Most likely none of them will work as they rely on Samsungs custom framework.
Move to q&a please

You know what your doing you even titled the thread so people would look.
But aren't the editors google apps?
My bad if I'm wrong.
Very agree with the OP regarding needs for a samsung apps.
But I wish there was a thumbs down button for post like this
It should be titled "Question" and not "ROM".

What's worse is that the question has already been asked and answered in the Cyanogenmod thread...
Would be great if anyone with a low post count was immediately directed to the search function before they're able to create new threads.
How kind of you to be so perspicacious and leave a link behind too.

Is there any "Samsung Apps" package?
Here are some, but not all: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18101252&postcount=4
I also cannot make the Samsung Dive to work, but I'm using an Official 2.3.4 Unbranded ROM (Is not the one wich came with my phone).
There's also a touch wiz launcher for those who miss it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883
Samsung Apps with Cyanogenmod 7.1
Assuming my SGS I897 is similar enough to the SGS2, here is my experience: After flashing Cyanogenmod 7.1, I tried to restore apps from Samsung using Titanium Backup.
I was happy my son's Krazy Kart Racing still worked, because it was free in the Samsung Apps market but $3.38 in the Android market.
However, when I tried to restore Samsung Apps itself, Titanium Backup went into an infinite loop. An attempt to restore Program Monitor had the same result.
I guess my answer is: some apps will work and some will not.
Has anyone else tried?
Here is a rom I ported that brings the SGS3 to your SGS2. The rom has most of the features of the new galaxy s3; it is best touchwiz-ICS based rom I found. I ported it with a UCDL5 modem and Siyah kernel. Also, I included NFC. The update has major improvements and makes you s2 into an actual s3. My dad has an s3, and this rom is almost identical to it. This developer is amazing, and he has moved to galaxys2root.com to share his updates.
Here is the flash-aholics tool thanks to ktoonez:

Also, all credit goes to the developer Ali Al-salman, who has now moved to galaxys2root.com to share his amazing updates. Also, see the link from a rom review from zedomax, who allowed the developer to share his rom on his site:

yea that extras pack has some cool apps/features. I hellraised it the other day too its definitely worth to try out. Also to get svoice working I grabbed the one from our themes and apps section and it works perfectly. That touch live wallpaper is really slick and ofcourse the floating video app. Only thing is it kind of shows us we definitely need a bigger screen to really take advantage, but still very cool.

For the rooting issue, download the root access zip and flash it. The extras are found once you click download salman rom on the develper's site and it is a zip file. Unzip it and copy the folder to your phone. Don't flash them; they are apk files, so just run all the apps.

Try wiping cache and dalvik cache in cwm because never had a fc yet.
I have been skimming through the Android development and original android development forums in search of a TW-based ROM that is extremely lite, with everything but the bare necessities removed, but haven't been able to find one. I might have accidentally gone by it, but I cannot find any.
Do you know if such exists? I am not willing to go with AOSP just yet.
With extremely lite, I'm talking at the most 250mb ROM size, instead of TW's 1300mb.
Isn't HyperGalaxy TW based and very lite? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695562
I use it but I don't have TouchWiz on it, if I remember correctly though, that is because I removed it manually. I do believe it comes with TouchWiz as default. And all Samsung apps, no AOSP.
You can also remove even more stuff from it if you find it contains things you don't want. It weighs in at 226MB.
It's awesome. Chicks dig it.

No FM Radio on mine, but searched for the term in the thread and found this link to a flashable CWM zip that contains the radio app. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dcc9ibksklg85jx/Gallery_FMradio.zip
I don't know if it works or not, or if the FM Radio required libs have been removed from the ROM, and I don't want to try it since I hate radio with all my heart and will not succumb to even clicking an FM Radio icon once. I would have to sell my device after that since it would be forever tainted. :silly:
You should ask people in the HyperGalaxy thread!
There is a whole host of add-on apps that have been removed linked from the main post. In fact there might be another thread just for the hypergalaxy add-ons.

Hello, I was able to develop an app to help you add apps into the multiwindow bar. This app will be limited to adding two apps for the xda version, and unlimited apps for the donation version which you will be able to find in my play store page.
The app is due to release today or tomorrow. This will develop into a fully customizable framework.
If you don't use the play store, feel free to contact me and we can find a solution.
But one thing I promise, is continuous and fast updates for each new firmware.

Hi LegendK95,
Could you perhaps take a look at the Note 10.1 too???
I´ve tried it the way for the Note 2, like Lennyuk and Paul O'Brien described, but I wasn´t successful.
I´ve looked in the framework-res.apk and couldn´t find any list with the <item>´s in the xml´s.
I´ve looked also in the framework-res.apk of the jellybean-leak an there´s the same.
Could you help please?
Do you think make something to change dpi per app?
Actualy when dpi is changed some app are broken or fit not well ( clock, calendar, phone, multiwindow and camera). If it's in your app, I beleive I can give to you more money
Will it support ability to remove apps in list? I want to remove some stock apps from this multi-window list.
You can already move the app from the sliding bar.
Count with me
