Hello! I'm in a pickle here, I gotta restore my backup that I've made with Clockwork recovery. The problem is that later on I've flashed Amon_RA and now I can't get it to restore the old Nandroid backup. Help?
From what I gather you can't. You could use ADB (from the SDK) and reflash Clockwork
Thank you very much Do you have a link on a guide on how to flash a recovery image via adb?

you don't have to...
make sure you have that restore somewhere safe, reinstall clockworkmod (CWM) from the market,
use the line that says: install (latest) recovery (normally it's the first option in CWM)
it should replace your amon ra with CWM Rec
then u can use your nandroid again you made with CWM
after that, you can still decide wich recovery u use (but if it's amon ra, make a new nandroid!!)
hope this helps..

i think this should be a yes or no question / verify i understand this
if i root my eris ( just the root image NO recovery imgs or anything just root image) ...i can just boot into recovery, make a nandroid backup, save it onto my sd card and computer then i can flash back to stock whenever if i choose to, correct?
im not missing anything?, i dont need to download a nandroid app or a recovery image?
sorry if its been asked before but i have been searching and need to clarify this because everything on here is spread out and unclear to me.
If I understand what you're saying the answer is no... maybe I'm wrong. You can't boot into recovery without your "recovery image."
I would just install the recovery image because then you can make a nandroid backup. And it can do the exact same as the original one, just more options, but normally, no, you cannot make a nandroid backup without installing the recovery image.
need some help please. just did something pretty dumb in a moment of not thinking. i went into rom manager and flashed cwm recovery (I'm using Hairy Bean 1.51 with TWRP) over the damn TWRP recovery, then did a system backup through rom manager. now I can boot into the rom, but no chance of recovery (as i'm guessing there is a twrp/cwm and possibly jb/ics conflict - if the rom manager flashed ics cwm recovery)
how do I get back my twrp recovery?
NB. Rom manager shows both TWRP recovery as well as CWM flashed and I can choose which i want to use... but when I pick TWRP, I still cannot access recovery. Is there an ADB command I can use to remove CWM and then reinstall TWRP? (I already tried installing the TWRP over it hoping to overwrite, but both recoveries still exist)
FIXED, NM.

I'll try to keep this short:
I STUPIDLY....tried to use the new CM installation of the mod via my pc (their new method). I had made a backup of my original at&t firmware on my internal card...using my preferred method, TWRP.
Now, once the CM installation completed, it gave an error and I decided the heck with that, and I installed Rom Manager back on my phone and selected my original backup; and then....it booted in the CWM recovery and guess what....when I go to restore from sdcard, it CANNOT FIND THE BACKUP.!! I rebooted and looked in rom manager, and its there. Now at the top of the rom manger window, it it showing twrp as the recovery method, but when reboot, it goes only to CWM.....HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to get my backup rom back on my device!!!
Forgot to mention: Once I got the error, it did boot into CM and now I'm stuck on CM. From there, I reinstalled Rom Manager and tried to restore from my backup.

It sounds like you may have to use fastboot to flash twrp recovery. Or try to sideload it.

I was able to use ADB to flash it, and when I rebooted, TWRP was there, but...my backup did NOT appear in my backups. I have since flashed a different from; figuring by chance something might be cleared up, guess what.... When I open Rom Manager, my backup is there, (and twrp is indicated as recovery) it FRICKEN REBOOTS in CWM and from there, I can't see my backup; or anything in my storage!!! The only backup I see using CWM is one that i created using CWM and its NOT the one I want/NEED!
I'm thinking hard about trying to return it, again, to stock (unroot), but that's what started all my issues in the first place! LOL!
My problem unfortunately remains, in that I have a backup created in TWRP, that I can't restore to! Is it possible to use ADB to restore a nandroid back up:? I have the backup saved in my adb folder, it is however not a zip file, it saved as just a folder.

your problem is Rom Manager quit installing it.
use es file manager and move your backup to the new twrp folder
I'm guessing the old backup is in data/media/twrp/backup/ move it to data/media/0/twrp/backup
reboot to recovery (twrp) and restore and your all set

your welcome ...glad i could help
Problem: I flashed newer versions of CWM (5.5 and 6.0.2) and TWRP 2.3.3 in prep for trying CM11. Neither recovery seems to be able to create a Nandroid of CM7. They both hang about 25% into the job.
So I'm not sure I'll have a valid backup, I'm not sure I'll be able to restore my current Nandroid, and I'm not sure I'll be able to flash a new ROM. Before I do anything else, can someone point me to a known working recovery for CM7.2?
Thanks!
If Nandroid fails, try online nandroid or titanium backup. If those fail, then just try using TWRP 2.6.3 off SD (I couldn't get it to work from EMMC), and backup/install from there. If no backup options work, just try not backing up; you can always just use repart.img to restore to 1.4.2.
I eventually found a flashable zip of CWM 5.0.2.8 and was able to flash it sucessfully. Booted to recovery and was able to make a full Nandroid. Enough for now, I'll fool with CM11 another day.
So I used to used to use twrp recovery, but then switched to Philz, but I had a nandroid backup of my stock rom on twrp. Is there a way I can transfer that backup to Philz recovery? Thanks.

The thread says that only cwm and twrp are compatible, but I don't see any mentions of philz. Also how do i use this app to convert my backups from twrp to philz?
Well Philz is just a modded version of cwm I believe so it should be compatible. If you read through the thread it states that you can make a flashable zip out of your nandroid backup.
No need to jump through any recovery hoops just to backup a stock AT&T ROM. All versions of AT&T stock ROMs are available as RUU.
If you really want a nandroid of your stock ROM, and the above mentioned app doesn't work, you can always: revert to TWRP, restore the stock ROM (TWRP nandroid), flash Philz, than make a backup (Philz nandroid) of the stock ROM.
