I hope that mods/admins won't delete this...
so excanging knowledge / requests is basic idea but also all other unrealted themes too..
[REQUEST] if possible..
need tests for kitchen:
ro.sf.lcd_density=120 <<< this setting in build.prop changes DPI so with that quality on screen.. my goes to "MIN" 110 and "MAX" 140 could few ppl
max ten people try MIN and MAX so that i can put tweak values in real borders.. in kitchen build.prop tweaker... So you change value if pics is bad then you have reach your MIN / MAX.. Thank you!
Request: for all build.prop's
Could You upload X8/X10 mini pro normal X10 a, e, i, o whatever letter build.prop somewhere like dropbox i don't know so that i make kitchen more extend.. thanks!

Modifying the LCD density of your screen will provide HUGE REACTIVITY GAIN to the tablet
We can also tweak Dalvik heapsize for large application
Both are editable using software but they're also properties on the build.prop :
- dalvik.vm.heapsize
- ro.sf.lcd_density
Does editing this properties is enough for the Folio follow or do we have to make much complex operations ?
I there, is this fix already implemented or has to be done manually?!?
I've implemented them using FolioWidget rewriting build.prop.
Not sure the folio take care of it.
But it seems that's is not required by users so i'll wipe them

density of 120 works quite fine here now.. with old market app, there was a problem with 120 but that seems resolved now with new market app..
and yes, somehow screen and browsing seems to work better? or is it just the bigger picture giving a nicer resolution of browsing?
All resolution are good. If you have a lot of items on the screen lower density is best.
But by using something like 180 you get a lot of visibility. Since i've developped a lot of complex widgets, it's my favorite one.
Using a density >120 will get you less data to manage on the screen and you can feel the gain ! i'm using multipicture and a lot of complexes widgets and there's not fillrate lag at all.
I was quite surprised with this benefits.
My purpose is that those options can really feet somes users needs. VM heap tricks like the one you found on cyanogen helps on huge application like PDF readers.
But even after editing those properties on the build.prop they are not taken into account. Maybe because of the previous installation i've done. So i'm looking to better understand how to override android properties.
I'm not sure how android handles non-default values for this property.
You should try with one of these:
120 (low-density)
160 (medium-density, Folio default)
240 (high density)
Depending on how this is handled, setting a density different than that may result in broken applications (depending on how the layouts are coded)
Using the LCD DEnsity application i confirm that all resolution are compatible with the folio
Maybe some application will have a bad behavior ! so we've to be able to change the density

This is no fix, as there are no real issues with these things. Its only a matter of tweaking the folio to your best personal use. They have to be implemented manually.
Shouldn't the dalvik heapsize fix the sound problem with some avi files?
I'm using the foliomod 1.3d, foliowidget works, but some avi files arn't giving me sound
Hello, could someone tell me how the default value for the heapzize is, please? There is only 16, 24 and 32 to choose, but I read something about 64!? How can I choose this value or get back to default?
Thx
Tom
Edit: solved!
Hi all,
Well ... I waste some hours trying to make a color profile of our phone screen and ... I did it ! I can say it wasn't easy ...
I was bored to make stuff in photoshop and have a different result on the phone screen, then go back to PS, then push again, PS again ....
Attached files:
-Graphic which shows that the screen color space is smaller than sRGB & Adobe98. We also have a low contrast ratio of 350.
-The color profile that you have to put in C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color
-Photoshop screenshot to enable the profile
--> When you make images modd in PS for your phone (don't forget to disable it when you work with normal pictures !), choose : menu>Display>Work format (I don't have the UI in english so I don't know the real name --> look at the screenshot), then choose the profile and tick "Keep RGB numbers".
You're now able to modd images that will appear like on the phone (not perfect but acceptable). If you load a SGS3 screenshot you will see the difference too (CTRL Y to toggle apply profile / no profile).
However, I'm using a high-end monitor which is perfectly calibrated so I can really see the difference (this is named softproofing (simulating the destination display device). Depending on how your monitor is far from the right calibration, the profile may be useless ... Try it ! or search for someone who have a colorimeter and calibrate your screen, the improvment is very great !
I've made this profile with Spyder3 Elite in a very strange way
Enjoy !

[Edit 1] Screenshot added as example : "Without profile" jpg is the one that is made by the phone (raw). "With Profile" jpg is the same after applying my color profile, and this one is very near what I can see when I look the phone. The difference is not small !
/
[Edit 2]
1) How to convert your screenshots:
In photoshop, choose Menu Edition/Assign a profile, and then choose the phone's profile. Then choose Menu/Edition/Convert to profile and choose the sRGB profile. Then save your image.
Now, posting your screenshots this way, they will appear like there are on the phone. (Depending on how well calibrated is the monitor's member).
2) If you have a photo wallpaper on your computer and want it to appear the same on the phone : choose Menu Edition/Assign a profile, and then choose the phone's profile
- For who can have a profile for its momitor, it's important too to use the Color Management plugin in Firefox ( the only one browser able to manage color profiles )
/
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!! [EDIT 3] !!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was a problem with some colors with previous color profiles.
When applying profile in photoshop with this V3 color profile :
- Select profile
- Untick Keep RGB numbers
- Select Relative color
- Tick Black point compensation
Now you will see in PS the colors like they will appear on your SG3 !

Color Management is not an easy thing to understand at all. It can be a sbject of PhD ! And my bad english does not help to explain ...
The profile is usefull for who makes themes (it's not to implement into the phone):
-When you work on android's images in photoshop, what you see is not what you see when it is on the phone.
-With the profile you can :
--> See in photoshop what you will see when the image will be on your phone. It helps a lot ! Before making the pofile I was making changes, pushing them to the phone and then going back to photoshop (it was looking good in photoshop but not on the phone)
--> When you take a screenshot on the phone, the image is raw without any color profile, ugly ! Applying my profile you can visualize the screenshots on your computer like it appears looking at the phone. It's good to apply the profile to the screenshots before posting. At the present time the screenshots available on the forum does not correspond to reality. I will add a small tutorial to do that.
you get it ?
ok now i understood it. Im learning to make themes actually. So this wil help me

I hope so ! See if someone or some store can lend/rent you a colorimeter to calibrate your monitor. I can warranty that this will change your editing experience ! You will be surprised visualizing your photos ...
Unfortunately, monitors even high-end, are sold without being calibrated .... The Delta can be very huge !
all i see in the 2 screenshots is that one is brighter than the other
i dont get it
in 1 post u say we can view the images before pushin it in the phone
n the other post u say it improves ur viewing experience like improves the quality??
i m viewing these photos on a netbook i dont if that makes a difference
so if u could please explain me again

Color management is a headache subject ...
The purpose is to get the same visual result on the phone and on the computer. The fact is that you don't have my phone so you can't see that the second picture looks like the phone and not the first one.
Actually, your case is not surprising : in general (90% ?) netbook's screens are very bad (poor color range and very sensible depending on what angle you are looking it) and of course non calibrated. So it's not a surprise you're not viewing a lot of diference.
Even like that, if you can calibrate your netbook screen there will be a significant improvment to view photos and other stuff.
Thanks!
I've been trying to solve different looking colors problems for a while now.
How did you create the profile?

I'm pleased to know someone is using this profile and finding it usefull !
It was'nt easy to make it :
- 1st, I ran Basiccolor display calibration soft with my Spyder 3 colorimeter, on my computer screen, and make screenshot of each pattern color.
- then I put the images on my sdcard's phone
- then search for an image viewer able to switch picture by clicking a button. I found one where you can configure the button you want to use.
- then, ran calibration soft on computer, holding colorimeter on the screen phone and clickin the button just in time (at each color measure).
I will not do that again !
V3 profile available
UP !

hi guys..
i have seen a few posts on the SGS side of things about resizing the dialer / camera etc... correctly when the LCD denisty is changed to a lower than standard figure..
is there a way of these apps "ignoring" the LCD density values set in the build.prop files?
just thinking.....

This ROM has a modified camera app for 200 dpi: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149713
Just extract it from SkyROM and replace yours via adb or root explorer...
please help me i changed my s2 density to 200 now its not booting please super please help.
Hey guys! Today I have a quick question regarding scripts.
Happens that I just flashed ICS Stock V2 and noticed that it includes both: TurboBoost and LagFree scripts. Well, I decided to dig into them and I realized that both have many common lines (yes, I know you already know) but they're set to different values. It will be usefull for me to know if this scripts are "really compatible".
I also see that Max Events Per Seconds are set to 60, 55, 60 (those are just some of the lines I saw) instead of 150. I would like to know which value is better wether 60 or 150.
Thanks for your brilliant answers

I guess, after reading around, that lower is preferred because in stock roms Android wanted to support lots of apps running together and switching between them but often times more excessively than was required which led to decline in task and battery performance. But if you particularly want 'lots' of apps running at once then more is more...
Is there an option to scale the display, so everything will look bigger (for people who have difficulties reading the small fonts that is everywhere).
I'm not looking for a local solution as changing the browser font size, but something like the same effect as when you lower the screen resolution on your PC.
Thanks.
There are a few tools that let you change the DPI, for example: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.innodroid.dpichanger
You need root to use it.
thanks,
the app you mentioned crushed, but this one does work. if I increase the DPI too much then it switches to another launcher and the soft buttons are tiny or gone.
original DPI=160
max DPI working well with the original launcher=177
min DPI = 120 (also works well)
so I only succeded to increase the DPI by 10% and still keep the system work well, not very effective.

I use 120 dpi with Go Launcher to fix the view of the home screen. Works very well in expanding the usage of most apps. Though some sharpness is loss in the text...even though it was never that sharp to begin with in 160 dpi.
