Error [270] - update error - HTC Oxygen

Just bought this phone on an internet auction and tried to update it to wm 6.1, but when I enter to bootloader, it goes 2%, 4% and then it just turns off and I get this error message on my PC saying "Error [270] - update error". Tried 2 different roms, same thing happened, even tried hardSPL, also got the same error. Any ideas how to avoid this problem? Thanks in advance.

are you have unlocked your device with the XDA ALL UNLOCK at the time of going to Flash ROM..??

Um, probably not, all I did was try to hardSPL the device, but as I said, the problem occurs.

Well? Any solutions?

can you show your steps in doing flash hardSPL..??

Well sure, my device is fully charged and connected to USB, I run "ROMUpdateUtility", check whatever needs to be checked, go next, next... and it starts the process, I see 100% on it and after few seconds I get this error saying "update error" and my device restarts itself.

you're copying sspl.exe on your device..??
What you also have to run SDA ApplicationUnlock will do it at the time..?
try to follow instruction that have been given

No, I'm not copying anything on my device, all I did is connect it to my PC via USB and run bootloader, thats it.
I haven't been given any instructions for preforming hardSPL.
EDIT: I just used SDA ApplicationUnlock, said "Phone is not unlockable", then when I pressed OK, it says "SDA successfully unlocked. PLEASE REBOOT SDA NOW!" Did that, tried HardSPL once more, again I got the same error message.

of course you get an error message because you do not copy spl.nb, spl.lnk and jumpspl.exe to the root device ..! it means you did not follow procedures or instructions given...
you try to flash back and follow the instructions given, OK

Sigh, all the same problems doing these upgrades. Please read first about the various unlocks here. Then come back and let me explain further:
You MUST application unlock your device. So far you have NOT done it! Search for an "on-device" application unlock called "HTC Unlock" - this will do the trick (it basically macros a signed registry editor) and a subsequent run of the SDA Application unlock will succeed (not sure if still needed though).
The CID check avoidance by using an SPL replacement will only work if 1.) has succeeded
Good luck

First you must unbrick Device, upgrade SHIP ROM etc...

How to restore t-mobile MDA rom without activesync

Hi all -
Newbie here, so I'll apologize upfront for any errors. I've been searching for the last 6 hours and have learned a lot, but still can't fix my problem.
I tried to upgrade the radio only, but after that there is no radio version, no phone or internet, system on mda is VERY slow, and I can't connect to active sync. I can get bootloader up, but when I try to install the stock rom I downloaded from this site, it says "no device connected." I've tried to copy it to an sd card and install from there, but that doesn't work either.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
Have you tried this:

Thanks for the try, but says activesync not connected when I
Hello -
Tried this, but it says I need active sync. Not sure what to do now.
Thanks for the try : )
Flashing with SD-Card do not require any Active Sync. So when did you get this error?
Stefan
I guess I'm not sure how to flash from an SD card then..
sorry.....could you walk me through it?
Here's what I did. Per the instructions on the link, I downloaded the special rom 1.1. Then I stated bootloader on my mda and ran Programme A on my pc from the files that were unzipped. When I do this, I get an error message that says "Cannot execute the remote communication program. Please make sure that the USB/Serial Cable is properly connected." The usb cable is connected directly to my pc.
I know it can connect with the mda, because when I try to install this program T-Mobile 2.24.10 Radio Only it says it updates on the MDA, but nothing changes.
I'm really stuck and appreciate your help.

Also a newbie who is stuck
I've installed program A on my SD card. Then i insert it into my device (MDA Vario, T-Mobile (Wizard)) and follow the next step.
Hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
But I don't get taken to that screen, instead it starts up to my windows 5.0 (very slow) without connection to active sync. How can I reboot, install new software?
please help

FIrst of all the PRogramm A file isnßt just coüpied to the SD-Card and run from there, but it´s copied in special format to the SD-Card....
Second, and most important, that´s just for the Wallaby device and not for the Wizard. This process will never work with your device.
You should take a look at wizard postings....

Error Upgrading my HTC Tytn

I have tried many times to upgrade the Rom Image on my HTC Tytn (Cingular 8525) with no success. I am getting a 260 error with the program located at this link...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
I did first run the unlocking application to unlock both SIM and CID before running the upgrade.
I followed all the steps exactly and have had no success...
The following might be effecting my attempt:
I am running my pc on Vista
I am syncing with Windows Mobile Device Center
I have tried to solve this problem for about two weeks. Can anyone help me?
Mrvanx has a guide on how to prepare Vista for flashing, you can find it here.
This information still did not work. I get a 260 error even after updating the driver, which I did not do until now.
After investigating furthur I have realized what the error is:
As soon as the RUU says "Verifying Information on your PDA Phone..." the second time and forces the device to enter bootloader, the usb connection is lost between the device and the pc. Investigating furthur, the connection to my tytn is lost every time I enter bootloader, whether it is by Power+OK+SoftReset or forced by RUU. Does anyone know how to fix this bootloader connection problem?

Use the RUU wrapper with the NBH file you want to upgrade.
I still have the same issue, even when using the RUU Wrapper and any nhb.
don't use vista
Ok, got one step furthur
I reached the point where the ROM Begins to update, which is VERY good...
The ROM update Reaches 1%, then waits for 20 minutes...
Then I get a 262 error and have to go through recovery, try again, with the same result.
i have same problem plz help thnx in advance

Have you tried removing or adding a checkmark to the USB to PC in CONNECTIONS on your device? I remember having a similar problem when I installed Radio Rom 1.38 that my USB connection was lost with the pc . I am using XP when flashing so if you have no luck then do this on a XP machine.
Forgot to ask! What ROM are you trying to flash??
@compwiz2008 and ahmerpar
I read somewhere that running windows update will update WMDC........maybe give that a shot?
Maybe you can try to upgrade your ROM from your SD card.
Nope
Let me try that...
Still did not work
I'm probably going to just take my phone to a computer repair shop and pay them to deal with it, since I'm evedently doing something wrong.

Connection error when trying to update ROM

Ok, I've been trying to update my 8525 for hours...here is my problem. First, I tried to HardSPL-v7 but I kept getting an "Error [240] File open". I think this is preventing me from doing any ROM update. When I try to run the Cingular ROM update activesync shuts down and I get a connection error, I think it is "error [260]". I have wiped or cleaned out my 8525 so that I am back to day one. I have tried both ROM updates on 2 separate computers and I get same error messages on both computers. I have searched the Wiki's but have found nothing, so please help. As you can tell, I am a virgin to ROM updates so please go gently.
I should add, my present ver. ROM AKU 2.3 (1.34.502.7018.01H) SPL 1.06 IPL 1.01. Radio is 1.16.
have you taken a look at my Safe WM5 Upgrade Guide??

Ok, I just tried it 2 more times, Hard-SPL. It flashes to the 8525 and goes into bootloader and shows the following "HERM100 IPL-SSPL by Des HERM100 SPL-1.09.ds" at this point activesync 4.5 shuts down the 8525 is stuck in bootloader (it never reboots) and after a few minutes I get "Error [260] Upated Error". Hard SPL shuts down and the 8525 is stuck in bootloader mode. At this point I have been disconnecting the USB cable and doing a soft reset, once the phone is on, I go into bootloader and the old info shows up SPL 1.06 and IPL 1.01.
Let me have a think, firstly do you have the latest versions of the .net framework installed?
I was able to finally run HardSPLv7, I had to do it on another computer. Now, I would like to update to RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2.15.502.3_6275_1.40.30.00_108_Ship.exe. I assume I should use the same computer that I used to successfully run HardSPL. Do I need to rebuild the rom file with RUUWrapper.exe (CustomRUU by olipro) & Dutty's Good NBH Tool, before running the RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2.15.502.3_6275_1.40.30.00_108_Ship.exe update?

Off hand, the major difference would be Intel (worked) vs. AMD (failed) but I doubt that is the problem, you would be flooded with questions due to so many computers that have AMD chips. The USB cable was the same as well. I'll have to think about that...
Definatly check your "failed" computer is up to date with .net and everything else, most likely a software problem.
I have this problem as well..
AT&T 8525 windows moble 6 trying to install the hardspl v7.
v3.5 and 3.0 .net framework.
the RUUwrapper program gets to the 'verifiying info' screen then give me an erroe 240 message. 'the update utility can not open the requested file.'
any help would be great. Looking to add the touch it interface.
thanks,
Mike
Read the post Hard SPL at the top of this forum and go to page 116 ( I believe its post #1160) and use the sd card method. You don't need to use the pc at all. I generally flasah ALL os's using the sd card method as it seems to be safer then using the usb method. No "sync errors" to deal with.
Cheers...
I have the exact same problem..
When it goes to tri-color screen, the USB connection goes off and windows will pop up the search for driver dialogue box.. then afterward another dialogue box will appear saying Error [260].
I tried restarting my pc and device (even removing the battery) but still failure
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

UPDATE
I tried using my friend's laptop and it installed without a problem. I think the issue is with the .NET framework. I installed the latest one before flashing and it worked fine. Hmmm.. Im not sure about this tho.
Hello.... Try the sd card method. You don't need the computer...
Sorry if I sound condescending, but, I seem to find a lot of people saying that they have sync problems. Solution, Take the pc out of the equation (except to load files onto sd card). It is SOOO much safer then using the pc, no "sync" problems, no chance of usb being disconnected, reset button being hit or , worst case scenario, power failure...
You have to either have little or no battery power or MANUALLY hit the reset button with the stylus to stop the flash...
And thats my 2 cents....
Refer to post #13 to find out how to use sd card method to flash hard spl...
Cheers...
sd card method???
how?

Problem with RUU

Ok...I have been through all the posts about upgrading etc. I still have a problem and I'm sure that I'm overlooking something....but I can't figure it out on my own. Here is what is happening (it does the same thing with every RUU that I've used...the DST fix...upgrading to WM6....etc)
1. I run the RUU and let it go through its routine (extract files, verify info on pc, etc.)
2. I check the box that says I have read the readme and click next
3. The next screen appears and it has the following steps:
Connect to the USB cable (check)
Establish an ActiveSync Connection (check)
Disable standby and hibernation on PC (check)
Make sure batter is > 50% (check)
Then I check the box and click next
4. I pick the update and click on the update button
5. I verify that I want to upgrade my phone from ROM verion x.xx.xxx to x.xx.xxx and click next
6. The program tells me that I am finally ready to update...and if I am sure I want to proceed to click next...so I click next
7. As soon as I click next...the progress bar comes up on my pc and my phone goes into standby mode (no bootloader...just standby). The progress bar never moves.
8. After a minute or two the RUU give me the ERROR [260]: Connection
9. I reboot my device and repeat steps 1-8
10. I reboot my device and my computer and repeat steps 1 - 8.
Now if I leave my device connected to the usb and close out the RUU after it gives me the ERROR [260], and then run the RUU again...when it is first verifying the information on my pc (before it asks any questions and before it tells me to connect my device) it will throw the device into bootloader mode. If I try to keep running the RUU while the device is in bootloader mode it give me the error that my device is not connected. I have tried and tried...maybe one of ya'll can help me. Thanks in advance
Chris

Ok...I think I found out how to do this...Ya'll can tell me if I'm screwing something up.
I go through all the steps listed above until it gets to the progress screen. When it gets there I manually put the the device in bootloader mode (Power, side ok, and reset). Once I do this...the progress bar starts moving. I will let you know if this works...
Hmmmm
Its not the way it should work but if it works its ok
You should have installed Olipros HardSPL first and then try to flash an official rom. If its working then something with your download is wrong.
What ROM is on there now?
Has the phone been CID unlocked?
Oli's CustomRUU is better, you may want to unpack the ROM and put the NBH in a folder with Oli's RUU and then do the upgrade.
BTW, gerald_s is right, you should not have to do that... what you may want to do is put the phone in Bootloader mode manually (while not connected to the PC), then plug in the USB, then start the RUU. That helps some people with 260 error.
I've got the same damn issue... it's driving me crazy. I had this occur when I flashed my Hermes100 from the stock version to Custel's. After about 15 starts and reboots it took. I'm now trying to get to Vp3G's 3.60 and it continues to give me the 260 error.
I am trying to figure out how to fomat my micro, but really hoping to find a solution over cable.
Hermes 100
IPL 1.04
SPL - 2.10 Olipro
Any suggestions?
You may be trying to flash a rom that includes the radio rom. What is your device? Is it possible that your device is a new x01ht with radio 1.14 and radio bootloader 0182? If yes, then you will get this error when you try to flash a rom with this method because during the flash it will be disconnected by the radio bootloader because it is not overwriteable. If you flash using the NBH file on the microSD, it will skip past radio and radio boot and just flash the other parts of the file.

If you are running windows XP, just connect the card to the computer, open MY COMPUTER, right-click the removable disk that is your microSD and then click format. Default in windows xp is to format using FAT32 filesystem which is perfect.
The thing is... if you dont know how to format a drive in Windows, should you be flashing your device yourself?
Which Solution???
I've got a Softbank X01HT with:

SuperCID <--- result of checking by mtty
IPL: 1.04
SPL: 2.10Olipro
GSM: 1.47.00.10

I tried to flash with new Schap 3.54c but the process would not be done coz ERROR 262 or ERROR 302. Fortunately, after failure of flashing, my device is still normal running. Then I tried to flash radio 1.51.00.10 but I got the same above. Once again, I have just tried to flash splash screen and I got the same result too. It mean my device can not upgrade anything !

i have a problem very similar to Chris. when i check the box "yes activesync is syncronised", and then the progressbar shows up and the phone goes into standby.
i've turned standby of in powermanagement options.
my os is XP
i use active sync v4.5
and this is first time i try this.
i've read something about this bootloader, i can get there but then i cannot sync with active sync. so i kinda stuck.
have been searching the forums and this was the same problem as mine but i don't understand your solutions.
//KufrA
--Problem solved--
i did all things without activesync,
1. start phone in bootloader
2. do the install
3. wait 0% to 100%, and done.
is there a problem with active sync or why do i have to do anything with it at all?

That means you didn't successfully unlock.
If you put your phone into bootloader, it needs to say 1.20 Olipro, not 1.10, which it probably does.
Retrace your steps on the unlocking process.
- DogGuy
When I put the phone into the bootloader, it says 110... and I unhook and rehook up the usb cable, and the activesync doesnt detect the titan anymore.
I then use the exitbl program to reboot the device, and then continue once my titan reboots.
Then I get the 262 connection error after the status shows 0% on both the titan and my computer for a while.
Leave your phon ein bootloader mode and run the unlocker. As long as the screen says USB it should work.

Thats where you went wrong. You aren't done with the unlocker, and *do not* run exitbl until after the RUU has already run. The RUU is actually installing the unlocker, you are just sitting at a temporary bootloader to allow the 1.20's RUU to actually run.
edit:
So, run unlocker, do the disconnect-reconnect when told, when the RUU comes up, you need to follow it all the way through to completion, flash and all, and you'll end at 1.20 Olipro. Then you can finally use the exitbl. If the RUU does not come up, check the directory \TempTytn\ and run the romupdateutility.exe thats in there.
Good luck,

Thanks DogGuy.. So I run it even if Activesync doesn't show a connection once I unplug and replug the titan???
As long as when you reconnect the usb cable the bootloader itself says USB at the bottom, you're just fine.

I will probably try this over the weekend.
BTW will this work on Vista?
same Problem
I ran into the same problem...
I used a different USB port and either turned activesync on or off... can't remember and did the unlock again. It detected the phone differently on the other port for some odd reason.
