- UC_NET:
With UC_NET you can automatically install all your favourite cabs silently and/or controlled.
Thx to Daskalos for finding this great XDA Dev Application
Create XDA_UC folder on your storage card.
Put your cabs (or .reg, .mscr, .cer files) in XDA_UC, if you want them installed silently
Put your cabs in XDA_UC\manual, if you want to install them with normal dialogue
Put your files in XDA_UC\Copy2Root, which should be copied to the root of your device
Put your self-extracting archives in XDA_UC\Run
Put your self-extracting archives in XDA_UC_Execute if UC_NET should go on while extracting
In Startmenü\Programme\Utilities you can then start your customizing with the UC_NET shortcut. It will default to the folder Storage Card\XDA_UC, but you can choose other folders, too.

Hi,
the files below are specially optimized for subscribers of O2 Germany using the XDAII. I would like to share the results of my quest for finding a slim ExtROM. The idea was to reduce the size of the original ExtROM to release additional space for other programs without reducing the functional range. Just CallerIDRC11_GER_1.5.sa.cab has been removed 'cause it is pretty useless and energy consuming.
Homezone indicator works fine now and I left it in the ExtROM. if you don't want it, delete 30032install.ARM.cab. This file contains the setup routine (there is also a registry entry made from O2DECustomize.sa.cab, maybe this has to be deleted as well - until now I didn't want to remove it and therefore didn't verify this)
Size has been reduced by merging registry files into O2DECustomize.sa.cab, also adding registry entries for activating ClearType and opening ExtROM (thanks to Xant for explanation & files). The following files are now included in O2DECustomize.sa.cab:
AudioPatch.cab (released by o2 UK)
Broadcast_GER.sa.cab
MIDI_GER_reg.sa.cab
O2_AP_DE_20040118.sa.cab
O2_DE.sa.cab
Version_AKU1.sa.cab
The remaining files have been checked for advertisements, demo files and English language versions, all together releasing 2,7 MB (+ 0,9 MB from CallerID), a lot of unwanted stuff that blocks valuable space for useful applications...
In my eyes some programs are a kind of "must" and have been added to further enhance the ExtROM:
- GPRSMonitor_GER.sa.cab
- BTHTools1012.cab (simplifies bluetooth connectivity)
- ExtendedROMSwitcher.cab
- WakeupTweak.cab
Steps to install this ExtROM (for those who never did that):
1. download the update file:
http://hilfe.o2online.de/srvs/DATA/...download/xda_software/neu/xda_16052ger_o2.exe
2. download ER2003Edit
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/ER2003Edit
3. use WinRAR to extract the upgrade files from xda_16052ger_o2.exe (you'll get six files: 3 Hima*.* and 3 *.nbf)
4. open the file ms_.nbf using ER2003Edit
5. delete the files inside the ExtROM and use drag & drop to add all files contained in O2 GER Slim ExtROM based on 1.60.52.zip below.
6. if you like, add more cab-files to the ExtROM (but don't forget to modify config.txt to start installation after hardreset)
7. save your work as ms_.nbf (same as before), make sure that this file and the remaining 5 files (extracted in step 3) are together in one folder
8. prepare for the update, what means that you should do anything to prevent your computer from hanging/freezing during the upgrade process, end all applications running on the XDAII.
9. due to some users reporting heavy problems & the explicit warning from the upgrade utilities' startsscreen: DO NOT USE USB HUB FOR FLASHING!
10. now start HimaUpgradeUt.exe and flash XDA II as usual, but with your individual ExtROM (according to O2 this step can take up to 1 1/2 hours!)
If you follow these instructions, every user should be able to perform the upgrade safely. But nevertheless everybody should take care and know what he's doing. If not - better ask somebody...
The upgrade worked fine on my German XDA II with (locked) ExtROM. Remember that you have to flash all parts (OS, ExtROM & Radio Stack) together - unlike in the past, when it was possible to flash a certain part only (see the new upgrade utility, XORing etc.).
After the update your XDAII will have:
ROM-Version: 1.60.00GER
ROM-Date: 12/03/03
Radio-Stack: 1.10.00
Protokoll-Vers: 1337.18
ExtROM-Vers: 1.60.52 (but your modified version)
When I wanted to cook the ROM, the following log file came:
write xip block starting at 81740000, with 4 files
write xip block starting at 81c40000, with 63 files
this rom seems to be 4.01.19 GER 2004-03-05 T-Mobile WM2003
this bootloader seems to be V5.22 2003-05-15 17:46:55
xip regions not found: 81c40000=XDA_DEVELOPERS2
Error creating new rom
So my question is: what have I done wrong?
This specificaktion has my ROM:
- T.Mobile GER 4.01.19
- T-Mobile Autoconfig Germany
- move MS 'File Explorer' and 'SD backup' to 'Search & Explore'
- add 'Internet Explorer' link to 'Internet'
- move 'Terminal Services' to 'Internet'
- add 'Chat & IM' subfolder to 'Internet'
- move 'MSN Messenger' link to 'Chat & IM'
- PhonExt
- move 'SIM Manager', 'SIM Toolkit' and 'Wireless Modem' links to 'Phone'
- CabInstl (open .CAB-Files with CabInstall)
- JS Overclock
- PHM Registry Editor
- PocketNav
- Resco File Explorer 2003
- Resco Picture Viewer
- move remaining icons in 'Programs' to 'Misc'
- Chess
- Line4Line
- SkinFinal
- O2 Original
- Make battery warning adjustable
- Lock all keys except power button while off
- Remove 'stk.lnk' from Startup folder
- installer EXE

I can't delete the files it says that memory might not be sufiecient or i may not have the permissions to delete them. How do I fix that?
What files are you unable to delete? Dont delete the files from inside the phone... Connect WM to the PC using ActiveSync, browse to the files you want to delete (you will only have to confirm deleting because the files are set read-only).
// You cant delete programs if they are running / open
Yes even then I can't delete. The files I am unable to delete are the ones in the /Windows and the /Program Files folders. It asks me to confirm whether i want to delete the read-only file..but yet after that I'm unable to delete them..it says memory is too low and/or i don't have the permissions to delete read only files, something like that.
No, the programs are not running..i cannot delete any of those files in the /Windows or the /Program Files folder.
I was unsucessful first time trying to delete these files (I have been using Resco Explorer). Maybe you have to delete the links to these files first and restart.
success
hi, i was successful in deleting all the files mentioned and making the changes necessary. It took the following steps:
Delete all you can
Reboot
Delete remaining
Reboot
Delete last few
Reboot
Check the deletions.
Also, what you might want to do is make your mail and internet explorer to save by default on your storage card.
My windows mobile live is refusing to work on this phone....any idea why? Or maybe if i could get a fresh copy of the mobile live. It somehow installs the mobile live, but doesn't uninstall the WM5 pocket msn and this might be the problemo.
would appreciate any help.
I managed to get them deleted, the test rom did not allow that. Had to upgrade to this current cingular rom to be able to remove everything.
should be a windows live messenger link here http://rapidshare.com/files/24689015/Windows_Live_for_Windows_Mobile.rar
The Internet explorer now supports Iframes with scrollbars and have Home Page... by default live search by MS.
(reg) Change IE homepage
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer ... change the value of home_0409 from file://\windows\about_0409.htm to http://www.google.com or any url/file you like
(reg) Java applications on Card
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tao\JMM ... change the value of DataPath from \Applicaton Data\Tao\intent to sometnig like \Storage Card\Java\Tao\intent AND (fil)(!!!) move the intent folder (containing rofs_target.zip) to the exact location on Storage Card

Thank you
Díkes, tohle jsem potřeboval
edit: there is no reason for deleting the stwater.. file, as it will be recreated the next time you reboot your phone, or change your wallpaper - the stwater is a kind of "image" of your wallpaper, in 2 different sizes
This is very useful
After each ROM install I come back here to delete unnecessary stuff.
Very useful in getting a few KB for more apps.
New German Lite ROM ported from XIP 28244. This is the fasted build that I flashed until now.
English version same build here
