I just started using Super Manager (from the market), and it gives the same capabilities for root access file management as Root Explorer.... for FREE. I figured that this information (even though it can be discovered searching the market) might be useful for someone. I have been using it for a day now, and it works great.
Below are other free root access apps as shared by the community in this thread:

I've deleted the apk without making a backup. I need it asap
Plz.
Here you go.
Thanks man, that was quick.
However the file seems corrupted (13kb)
I have a copy of some of the bloatware and they are larger in size.
I think you can back it up through root manager if you have it.
Hmm. I just took what was under system/app and uploaded it. I just now did a titanium backup of gogo. Unzip this file and try restoring with titanium and let me know if this works.
If the above doesn't work, try this. I zipped with root explorer.
Thanx man it worked.i had to copy the files to system/app instead of regular installation.
Glad this noob could help
cannot install
I have tried both files in this thread, and neither will install. Running free version of Ti Backup root, cannot afford donate version yet lol. can someone help me out here?
Download "Bloater" from the market. GoGo is in there but the bloater app costs a buck.
Is that compatible with a standard rom? My phone is stock (root obv) with a new home screen launcher as I am not comfortable with flashing/wiping roms and such

Latest version is 0.56 and it is free if you d/l it from the official thread here. Don't forget to thank birgertime for this if it helps! And you can always donate by getting it from the market for like $2, if you want.

Download Manager 2.3.3

It would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I have the apps moved to a bloat folder. I could upload them for you, and you could just use a file manager to move them to /system/app and edit permissions.

While trying to either install or upgrade apps now in the market I get an FC. Can't figure a way around it, wiped cache. Same.
EDIT: Fixed. Forgot to change the owner of the files to root.
Can anyone help a brother in finding the HTC Reader apk? Thanks.

Are you rooted? You may have to push it or use root explorer.

Yes I am rooted, I have tried installing with root explorer, is there another way of doing it with root explorer other than install?
I read on another thread that its a desire hd app and the original desire wont have the files necessary.
Install to system /app. Then change the permissions to match all other apks. Just long press on another application, go to permissions, then change the permissions of the reader to match. Reboot and you should be good to go.

This is how you have to do it.
Like stated, just move/copy the .apk to system/app and change permission to rw-r--r--
Probably not necessary but I like to wipe cache on reboot...

Is it just me or is the Amaze missing a file manager? I know you can down load one from the market but was wondering if this was the norm for the Amaze?

Are you on the stock ROM? I haven't been on it for so long I can't remember. I thought it came with ES or Astro. Bloatware lol I prefer either Root Manager or Huawai File Manager with Cloud + (5GB)
Seriously? Root Explorer. File Explorer, Astor file manager, these are all available in the market. What's the issue?

Yea, stock roms do not come with file managers.

Yes, "Seriously", that is what the Q & A forum is for, have a question ask. As I stated in my original post " I know you can down load one from the market but was wondering if this was the norm for the Amaze?", but thanks for posting a response.

Thanks for responding, I was asking because my vibrant and Galaxy 10.1 both contained a file manager although a simple one.
My question has been answered thanks every one.
Any recommendation on a good file manager to download?
I'm not digging the Google file that comes with the t-mobile variant.
Thanks in advance!
