yes. I deleted

yes you can delete the bootanimation.zip, but before you do this step you can delete too, then instead of sonyericsson bootanim, the built in android bootload anim will shown. if you want to disable fully (built-in and se) bootanimation, use the steps in the first post.

Works, Thanks..

How much faster does it take to boot? If it's not much I'll stick to my fancy boot animation...

for me boot takes 48.41s from first vibration till the last.

for me 34.9s

About 30 sec to boot up! Great!

27 Seconds ! Awesome !

woohoooo, thank you!
28 sec's here in Indonesia LOL

Didn't notice it boot any faster. Back you go, boot animation...

Hm.... same for me... Maybe because of App2SD.

I have about 30 sec with xrecovery, jit, app2sd and nearly all default apps removed. I think it's not the app2sd to blame. Try to wipe dalvic cache in recovery, first time it will be a bit slow to boot up, but then it will be faster. Also try to remove the default se bootanim zip-file

Edit :
Sorry, That's an error

Is it possible make a flashable zip to remove the bootanimation?

BIOS boot animation reworked

I simply modified this one with mspaint and updated it like this :
- 2010 => 2011
- 800 mhz => 1000 mhz
- Android 2.1 => Android 2.2
How to install :
You need a rooted phone.
You need Super Manager (availaible on market for free).
Using wifi/usb put bootanimation.zip where you want on the sdcard, then cut this file with Super Manager and paste it in /system/media
Reboot your phone and enjoy.
Thanks! I'll try it
It's OK, thanks!

nope..
you just need to put and overwrite that .zip file in the /system/media folder.
use that app in the 1st post to do it (because you need root - and RW - privileges).

[Boot Animation] Ice Cream Sandwich for Legend

hey there,
i took the file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297084, converted the resolution of the images and adapted the desc.txt and packed it again.
i'm using the ROM Devil_2.3.7 and just put it to /data/local/ using adb, it works without problems for me.
i hope you like my first post in this forum
greets
stefan
edit: forgot to attach the file
This is pretty wacky, and awesome! I love it!
Quite fine........
is it possible to turn boot animation off?
sorry if this is a dumb question... but is this only boot animation (the animation on startup)? or the entire ice cream sandwich theme?

The way I did it was (NOTE:Only applies to ROM's based off CM7.1 as far as I know) place the bootanimation.zip file onto SD Card. Download a Root File Explorer like Root Browser from Google Play. Navigate to the file on the SD Card and copy it. Now navigate to /system/media and backup(if you want) the existing bootanimation.zip or you can go straight ahead and just delete it. Now paste the bootanimation.zip you copied from the SD Card and you should be all good to go
When I'm able to(because I'm still new here) I hope to write up a proper guide on how to do this

On rooted S-ON legends you can do it only in recovery mode with adb and r4-legend-recovery tools.
boot into recovery mode, after launching recovery-windows.bat (if you use windows of course) from r4-legend mount /system then push the bootanimation.zip into /system/media
I'm trying to apply this animation but I can't remove/copy for back up the old one.
I have root browser and superuser gives it root rights but I cant modify permission to the file or move it.
Any suggestion?

Yeah, you can. You don't need a sd card, because the bootanimation is in the internal memory.
Cheers buddy.
i tried to change it yesterday and dowloaded the new bootanimation to my pc i copied it over to the phone (dragged and dropped it), but when i check the phone via es file explorer i cant see it so thought you needed an sd card in the first place.
And do i just delete the old bootanimation from my phone or do i back it up somewhere.
Will have another go tonight.

check to make sure its not an entire update zip that you are pushing to your system media, aslong as it just consists of a desc.txt and a few parts, yeh you can push it there as described. if its an update.zip, just use it or if you want, extract the files and the smaller bootanimation.zip will be inside for you.

[bootanimation][especial] streak's dell to new dell logo !!!

READ CAREFULLY....
as we are getting new updates from our devs...thanks to them to make streak alive...
so i thought why not getting a new bootanimation for our streaker's with new roms...
i was really sick with the old dell animation and different boot screens as everyone know
our streak must be booted once or twice a week as we are all on custom 'alpha, beta, gamma' -_- roms
so i decided to work specially on transforming an old dell logo into a new dell logo and
YES you will here an audio while booting.
GIF ANIMATION:
http://www.4shared.com/photo/1FSBEv4-/MH_dell_HD_1.html
YOUTUBE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5xVg9yZwmU
READ CAREFULLY....
Installation Instructions:
1st method (streakmod recovery):
1. Download the madbootanimation.zip file (anywhere) in SdCard.
2. Battery must be above 60% or 70%.
3. Reboot into streakmod recovery and select update.zip and follow the path where you downloaded the madbootanimation.zip and select.
4. Read the process step by step.
5. Done! now reboot.
2nd method (root explorer):
1. Device must be rooted.
2. Find any root explorer and install.
3. Enable root permissions.
4. Download two files in SdCard
5. Copy and follow the path system/media/"..." overwrite files.
6. Done! now reboot.
NOTE:
Plz read carefully as you are doing this at your own risk if you want to blame me you are always welcome !!!
If you want to backup your current bootanimation file then simply rename or copy somewhere else.
Don't do reboots just to see the bootanimation as reboots effects battery life so i made a gif animation and to hear with audio, a youtube link is uploaded.
Two flashable files(madbootanimation1.zip and madbootanimation2.zip) (streakmod recovery) and two files (bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3) (root explorer) are provided in below links.
Why Two flashable files, well first is for the good guys who THANKS and second for bad guys who don't THANK me, both files are same but installs a different way one installs fast and other slow, dont panic while installation, let it complete nothing will harm or happen to you or to your device
Hit my thanks meter and enjoy
All flashable files resides in 'system/media/"...." only'.
For different roms who have different places like data/local/"...." select the 2nd method of installation process.
Full animation preview may differ on different roms depending upon time of booting to lockscreen.
Follow all the steps carefully as we are all not PROFESSIONALS.

I can tell you that the boot audio will only work on Longhorn and Miui(if you change the file name and place of file) currently. The boot animation should work on any ROM. To change portrait to landscape and vice versa, simply swap the dimensions in the txt file. CM7 and Miui have the screens rotated 90 more degrees than DSC and stock ROMs, so there is that challenge.

[Possibly Faster Boot] Disable Boot Animation

This is very simple. Any noob can follow this and most of you know of this tweak.
1)Open a Root Explorer app or any file manager with root permissions.
2)Go to /system
3)Mount folder in R/W and open build.prop in text editor
4)Scroll to the very bottom and enter
Code:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
5)Save and Exit. A full reboot is required to see that this works.
You can change =1 to =0 to disable this. Or simply delete the line that was added.
Pressing the thanks button is very appreciated.
P.S. I think this results in a faster boot up time. Let me know what you think.
Sent from my HTC One X+
made no difference whatsoever on my att hox+. all the boot anims still played.
but i'm not deodexed yet so that might be playing a role in that.
Sweeeeeeeeeeet! It killed the AT&T obnoxious boot animation. Thanks for the tip.
Cool.

It does work.
I've tested this in hopes that some build.prop tweaks are worth it. Well this one is...my Samsung Galaxy Nexus booted from 3-5 seconds faster when the boot animation was disabled. It was noticeable that when the phone intially turned it took longer to get to the animation b/c it had to load it. However it is sort of scary to have my phone suddenly just 'turn on'.. oh well. less clutter
Thanks!
Thank you!
Works great for me...
My Device: Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830)
Android 4.2.2: Cyanogenmod 10.1
Editor: TotalCommander
The Device starts 2-3 seconds faster... And the Interfaces (Touchscreen + Keys) respons faster after turning on, not so laggy!
I can enter my pin faster :silly:
Result:
Minimal effect nevertheless nice!
Try it guys!

Your boot animation was likely deleted, moved, or renamed by the app you used. The boot animation file can be placed in many locations for use at startup. I would look in the /system/media folder for a file named bootanimation.zip, however the app may have renamed it. So it may not have the .zip at the end if that's the case then rename it back to bootanimation.zip and then give that a shot. If you don't find it there it could be in /system/customize/resources or even in the /data partition or moved to the SD card. Make sure the boot animation file exists before you attempt to fix anything.
Thanks so much!
Your tips worked like a charm.
Startup time is quicker, and less laggy on the homescreen!

That's called the splashscreen, can't change that unless your device is S-Off unfortunately
