[Q] How to package LauncherPro settings into ROM? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone had success with packaging LauncherPro settings into an update.zip style ROM?
I've tried modifying the default preferences in the XML file inside the APK, as well as pushing my /data/data file in the update-script, with no luck.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Modifying ROMs

I am modifying Bionix's Fusion ROM. What I did is just replaced Swype and Launcher Pro with a themed version, removed Mediahub, Titanium backup and Pandora. I am doing all of these just by drag&drop and delete using winrar (from /system/app/ and /data/app/ directories).
Anything else I should know before I proceed to flashing? Like a index file or something I need to edit?
Anyone? I just find out if theres a structure to these .zip roms..
make sure you sign before you flash

Custom transitions for X8

for ROOT
please backup with Xrecovery before trying this. Sometimes when I tried to change transitions for other downloaded on the internet I had bootloop.
I’ve managed to change transitions in X8 to Stock Android (sliding left and right).
I’ve prepared framework-res.apk file that you have to switch with the original one.
You can try to prepare your custom transitions by changing the files in .apk in res/anim folder. You have to change files that begin with semc_activity. You can find animation .xml file on the Internet. To swapping files you can use WinRAR.
In framework APK there are files called activity_open_*.xml and semc_activity_open*. I’ve just deleted the semc* files, copy and renamed the other files so that they begin with semc_*.
Installation using propc method:
Extract the zip file into root of your sd card. (make sure the files are in root).
in adb shell, use this command:
_________
su
cd /sdcard
sh reframe.sh
_________
I think you can also swap the framework-res.apk file using root explorer, but I didn’t tried it.
I advice to use these custom transitions together with LauncherPro because it has custom fancy applaunch animation. With ADW launcher there’s probably no transition when launching app (I don’t know why). You can use SpareParts application to change the speed of transitions.
Remember – backup first with xrecovery.

[Q] Pushed apks won't install?

Sorry for being noob, but I'm having a problem pushing .apk's that has .odex files along with it. I flashed my SG3 with the stripped APK's ROM and I wanted to put some of the apk's back like the Music Player with the provided .zip he provided that contains all the stripped apks.
I tried pushing it to /system/app but was denied.
I tried pushing it to the /sdcard and then copying it over to /system/app, but everytime I try to install it it says "Application not installed."
I've been looking at all the guides and tutorials to push apk's properly, but maybe I am missing something?
It only fails to install with applications that has an .odex file along with it, anything without an .odex file installs fine.
If someone may be can provide me step-by-step instructions to do this, that would be really helpful.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Nevermind, it seems even though it says "Application not installed." As long as it's in the system folder with the right permissions, it will show up on your list of applications.

modifying googlemaps.apk

Hi!
I want to modify some xml files in the google maps app (com.google.android.apps.maps-2.apk)
I copied the original apk from my phone, used apkmultitool to decompile it, chanched the files an recompiled it (using option 11: system apk)
after recompiling, the file size ist about 1Mb different to the original.
When i now place it on the sd card and try to install, i get message that it wasn't installed.
Do i have to deinstall the "old" app?
Do i make sth wrong?
I hope you can help me!
Thanks!
Anybody knows a solution?

I got a new Chinese phone and I want to modify some guys custom ROM, removing some apps and adding some other things. But the System and Recovery folders are typed as "File" with no extensions.
Information on how to just access them or edit them would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
