Do the android development builds work on the T-MOBILE US version of the hd2? When i boot up haret from the sd card, I see the linux bootloader but it says failed to load rootrs or something of that nature. Then it blackscreens and if i press a button it advances the bootloader line. Sooo I'm not quite sure if it works for the US version of hd2. Anyone know?
i got it working on mine. using the non-sense (see what i did there) version. i have the same issues others have, though. not quite ready for daily usage, but it's quite usable for what it's worth at this point.
Ahh non-sense version (lol), I can't seem to get it to work, I download the file and extract directly to the sd card, then i use file explorer to run haret.exe and it just doesn't load correctly like the videos on youtube. Wasn't sure if i was doing anything wrong. (sense version 3 from darkforce)

i tried that. the sense version consistently gave me a bsod.
Perhaps your radio version!
Do not match?
Quite awesome, I got it working. I accidentally had the haret and android files in a folder in my sd card rather than on the root sd. haha this is awesome
the OP should have posted this thread in HD2 general section ... please check next time.

This time, I'm back with a MONSTER release
For all those asking "What's a Monster RootPack"? It's simple!
It's a SD card image containing a bootable Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5 and a set of .zip files that allow you to root your device and install Google Apps (market, gmail, youtube, etc).

Updates:
Version 0.7
New build environment!
New CWR sizes, rootpack reduced to 128mb image. (We now have 128mb, 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, and 8gb images!)
1.1 Rooting and Google Apps support! (thanks D3cad3nc3!)
FIXED: backup/restore from CWM now works correctly!
Version 0.5
Well, packages.xml is in /data/system, not /system .. oops.
Release of 128mb bootable Clockwork SD card also
Adds block-1.1.zip and unblock-1.1.zip to block the updates the easy way!
Version 0.4r2
Bugfixes. Lots of 'em.
Version 0.4
Fix root.zip and googleapps.zip permissions problems (/data/app and /system/app DO have different owners and permissions)
Bootable CWM base: No change; version bumped to 0.4 just because.
Version 0.3
Update to most recent Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5 build (should have working backup/restore, and defaults to ext2/ext3 support instead of ext4)
Fixes root.zip and googleapps.zip bugs (can't believe I forgot a semicolon!)
Updates installclockwork.zip to latest Clockwork Recovery build supporting ext2/3
Version 0.2
Initial public beta release

This brings me to my final point: this rootpack has been tested on my device, but I'm sure there are still bugs! If you want a time-tested method for rooting your device, stick with AutoNooter for the time being.
BUT! I really need testers! If you'd like to test this, please let me know.
Questions/comments welcome!
woot! thanks iomonster! this will make my tinkering much easier, mwahahahaha!
CWR works beautifully booting from SDCard, you sir are the man of the hour I shall email you two internets!
However, I do not see the zip files you refer too (Does not really matter that much as by itself its amazing!)

The real credits go to the awesome dudes of ClockworkMod, nemith on IRC, FatTire on IRC, [mbm] on IRC, and a LONG list of other people that I am soon to credit with a rather large section in my instructions
Glad it helps!
EDIT: The zips are only in the rootpack_1gb.tar.gz -- they're actually in the sd image. Clockwork_1gb.tar.gz is just a bootable clockwork, for the people who just want a platform without any additions (and a speedy download! the rootpack is 24mb, whereas the clockwork card is only 8mb)
yeah, ive been too preoccupied with work to hop on IRC lately , i need to get my butt back in there... this weekend for sure.

something is up with the img file for the rootpack, it claims not enough space on my 2gb card and my 16gb card... cwr only img seems to be fine.. just a heads up
I take it back.... my work laptop is just a POS, my thinkpad does it just fine! whatever.... so much for Dell!

How big did it decompress to be? It should only be around 900MB... unless I accidentally compressed it wrong somehow...
Seems to decompress fine for me.. 941-ish MB.. should fit just fine on any SD 1GB or larger...
What If You're Already Rooted..
Can this be done or (groans mightily) do we have to revert all the way back to stock?
Ok, I followed the directions exactly, and the device went into a boot loop. It installed the Root, then tried to install the googleapps.zip and received an error 6. Tried rebooting and running the googleapps.zip again, same error.
Ultimately, I used the AutoNooter process and it worked perfectly.

Thank you for your feedback! I'll be sure to check out why the device was bootlooping.
As for the error 6, that'll be interesting to track down.. it's probably a missing semicolon somewhere haha.
One question-- when it was bootlooping, did you see the new boot animation? or did it just go to the "touch the future of reading" to the "n" screen and over and over again?
Well this is embarrassing! I forgot to include the modified ramdisk in the root.zip... your device started bootlooping because I renamed the ramdisk, but forgot to copy the new one in place! Gah! Oops!
This, sir, is amazing!!!!

Probably a missing semicolon somewhere... I'm not at my desktop at the moment though, I'll post back with an update soon, and replacement .zips just incase you don't want to reburn the SD card. (you can just drag+drop 'em to the SD card once you have it made)

Hi again everyone,
I've prepped an IMG file that you can dualboot Phiremod v6.1 and HC v4 2nd Edition off one SDcard.
1-The image file is 3.7gb. So you will need a 4gb SDcard or larger.
2-Both roms share the same SDcard partition. So on a 4gb card, the available space is limited to 1.8gb.
3-If you use an 8gb SDcard. To get use of the remaining storage on your SDcard. Just burn the image and then use EASUS Partition Manager to extend the SDcard partition. (Which is the 7th partition on the card)
4-I've udpated the Phiremod v6.1 with:
-The latest OC Kernel by Dalingrin 041811C
-Alsa update for smoother video playback
-Honeycomb Softkey Icons by XDA user Bawb3
I've done this mainly just for fun and to see if it would work and thought I'd share it with everyone if you wanna give it a go. Thanks to all the devs for all their hard work in getting these great ROMs for our Nook Color.

Follow directions from Nookdevs.com to burn the image to your SDcard.
Burning a bootable SD card
Once you burn the image to your SDcard. Power off your nook and place the SDcard in your nook.
-To boot into Phiremod Nook v6.1 just power on your nook with the sdcard in and leave it alone.
-To boot into HCv4 2nd Edition, hold the HOME button while powering on. Continue holding the HOME button until you see the "Android..._" screen.
Take it or leave it, just hope you enjoy it.

Edit 5/23: Updated Img with Phiremod 6.2 and Madcat's Honeycomb Hybrid-RC1
Reason for creating a new image and not just a flashable update is because the HC Hybrid /system was too large to fit on the original Dualboot img. So I prepped a new one for that reason as well as making the image smaller so it will definitely fit on a 4gb uSDcard.
What's included in this new image:
1- A 3.4gb Img file that should fit on any 4gb uSDcard or larger
2- J4mm3r's u-boot menu! (Read here for more info on how to use it)
3- Latest Phiremod 6.2 with Dalingrins 4/13a OC and Alsa update
4- Latest Divine_Madcat's Honeycomb Hybrid RC1
5- Honeycomb Hybrid RC1 has my sdcard mount workaround. I also included a file manager.
6- Read here for more info on the sdcard mount workaround.
7- Follow the steps above to burn the image to your uSDcard
8- Enjoy!
Keep in mind that the Honeycomb Hybrid RC1 is a work in progress so there are known issues. I suggest you read the OP in this thread here to see what's working and what isn't.

Update 5/31-Phiremod Nook 6.3 Dualboot SD Flashable Update:

1-If you're still using the original Dualboot-SD img. Follow directions below from 5/5 update on how to install latest Phiremod to your Dualboot-SDrom.
2-If you're using latest Dualboot-SD v0.2 with j4mm3r's boot menu. Choose to boot into SD-->Recovery and flash from there.

Update 6/22-Phiremod Nook v7-Test Dualboot SD Package Update:
This will format /system and /data of your Phiremod rom. So please backup all your apps!
Well I went ahead and made it easier for everyone. So I packaged the whole Phiremod v7-Test as a CWM-SD Flashable zip. This will install phiremod-nook-v7-test, gapps, and will install the launcher-pro backup to the sdcard partition for you.
-All you have to do is download the 'phiremod-nook-v7-TEST-SD-CWM-package.zip' file, no need to extract anything
-Boot into CWM-SD and flash the package zip file
-Reboot when done
-It will prompt with 2 different options on startup, choose "Setup Wizard"
-For some reason it won't get past that, even when touching the Android guy, to get around this touch all 4 corners of the nook screen starting with:
1. top left hand corner
2. top right hand corner
3. bottom right hand corner (just above the 'change language' button)
4. bottom left hand corner (just above the 'emergency' button)
-That should get you to the main screen.
-Connect to a wireless network
-Market will not populate correctly, so go into the app drawer and choose 'Talk'
-That should give you an option to add a google account
-Once completed go back to the main screen and goto options--> preferences --> and restore the launcher pro backup
-You should now see Market on the home screen
-Don't forget to thank the devs!
-Personal thank you to "bdeville" for testing the .zips for me before I borked any more installations!

Edit 5/5: Update Phiremod to 6.2 and Honeycomb to Madcat's Honeycomb_RC1
1- I forgot to mention that with your dualboot rom SDcard. It also contains a Modded CWM that will allow you to flash updated roms from "my" thread only!
2- Place the .zips you downloaded from this thread onto your /sdcard (7th) partition.
3- To boot into the Modded CWM. When powering on your nook. Hold the "volume+/volume-" together while booting up, until it loads up CWM
4- Now select "choose zip from sdcard"
5- Choose the .zip file and confirm "yes"
6- Sit back and let it do its thing
7- You can either flash another rom or go back to the CWM main menu and choose "Reboot system now"
8- Enjoy your updated roms!

If you get a keyboard failure error on first boot. Just do a quick reboot and it should go away. Downloads from market seems very slow off an SDcard install. Might just depend on what Class it is. And remember. This is a WIP. Don't forget to thank Madcat for his work on this!

[ZIP][CM7] Nook Color SDcard and emmc swap!
Thanks very much Racks, it works really well. Finally get a chance to try Phiremod and honeycomb without using 2 SD cards!! I only have one, the poor guy that I am
I too loaded the image to a 4 gig card and it seems to work fine so far. Thanks for your efforts!
Thanks man.... It worked for me as well!
oops maybe I spoke too soon, the phiremod works ok, but, the honeycomb loader never gets by the screen with the android_ on it. I will reflash later without epanding the partition on the SD card to see does that make a difference.
(yeah I used an 8GB card and used easus to expand the 7th partition.)
Glad to see that this image was useful to some!

Didn't actually get to try it last night. Bandwidth trouble.
Downloaded, unzipped, flashed to a 8gb Sandisk card. Left it as burned.
Installed in Nook: Booted to Phiremod AOK. Rebooted into Honeycomb AOK*.
Shut down and put sdcard back in my PC to resize the sdcard partition. Hmmm.
Both EASUS and MiniTool show the card as 8GB unallocated (ie: no partition information available!!).
Put it back in nook and reboot. Comes up to phiremod AOK. Weird.
OK, second time around putting SDcard in PC, I got correct mount and could edit partitions.

* - Honeycomb lock screen says "Running on internal eMMC" which we know is not true.
** - I love that you changed the POST message. Those of us in Pennsylvania see the stock message as Touch the Future of Redding (the city). Um.. Not without latex gloves, I think.

First ever post: Great Job!!
Have been a lurker in the site for the longest time. Been actively watching the developments in the HD2, NookColor and GTab forums.
Kudos to all the developers and modders who've made Android dream a reality.
And, a special thanks to you, who made it a double treat for people like me.
Only trouble, with this dual ROM (which I've to tell you, my friend, has blown my mind away), that I've not been able to overcome yet is, getting my XP Pro or Win 7 Pro to recognize my 7th partition (SDCard). Nothing I've done so far has helped.
Tried both ADB and NookColorUMS. I sure am doing something wrong. Any help is much appreciated.
Once again, THANK YOU!

Thanks for the kind words. Just remember to thank the guys who developed the roms. To mount the 7th partition try running the following command in adb shell:
#echo /dev/block/mmcblk1p7 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
This should mount the 7th partition. Let me know if it works.

I was looking to dual boot Phiremod and Stock on EMMC after seeing how awesome Phiremod is, but the place that I found supplying ROMs for dual-boot EMMC doesn't have Phiremod. Do you know where I could find it/do it (total n00b)

Market script
Excellent work OP (and obviously all the devs that made the roms etc.). One quick question though, I first flashed this image on a transcend class 6 8gb card and, due to the low random write speeds, I experienced random sluggishness and force closes. I will be resolving this issue tomorrow, but another issue has arisen. When I first ran the market a script ran that asked which gapps i wanted installed. After it directed me to install the first two gapps the market force closed. Before I had realized that it was my SD card that was causing the force closes I tried reflashing the SD card with this image again but when I opened the market again after reflashing the script didn't run.
My question is this: When I flash the new SD card will the market script run again? And if not, how would I go about have the market script run again?
Thanks in Advance,
Deusx

Lol. Glad it's working out for you. Make sure you thank the roms devs as well.
Just long press the home screen and it will bring up options todo so in honeycomb.
Well here I am again,
Not sure if I should have started a new thread for this or not. And although I feel like there are more threads than needs to be in the Development forum at the time being. I felt like the SD image might have it's own issues unrelated to the EMMC version. So I wanted to keep it seperate. If a Mod feels different, please advise so. I'll be more than happy to remove the thread and have the file posted to Divine_Madcat's original thread.
**Disclaimer: As usual, use at your own risk. Backup! And I'm not responsible for anything period**
I've just prepped an Image for Divine Madcat's latest Honeycomb Hybrid RC1. I've included rookie1's dualboot u-boot.bin and my modded CWM for SD, for the purpose of easier updates in the future for the SDcard rom.
Although there is no option to mount an SDcard in this version. I was able to mount the 4th partition as SDcard. So now you can use a file explorer of choice to browse your SDcard partition. I'm not sure if the EMMC version mounted the internal Media partition or not. Not 100% sure, but with this image you should also be able to browse your /media partition on your nook as well. And remember to thank the devs for all their time and effort into getting this to us. All I did was prep it to work as an SD image.
Directions:
1-Download the update-HC-hybrid-rc1-sd.img.7z
2-Uncompress it
3-The .img file should be able to fit on a 2gb card or larger
3-Follow directions from Nookdevs.com to burn the image
4-Pop the SDcard in your nook
5-Enjoy!

Edit: 5/21 - Well since the world is apparently ending today sometime. Figured I'd at least let you guys try a working .img. So here is an updated .img with the apps installing issue fixed. Everything is the same as the last .img except for the fix and I included a file manager. If it hangs at the "android_" screen on first boot. Just do a hard reboot and it should be fine. Enjoy!
Edit: 5/12 - Seems like there is an issue with installing apps where it will do a soft reboot when attempting to do so. I won't have time to take a real look at it till this weekend though.
-You could push individual apps to /data/app via adb for the time being.
Code:
$ adb push app.apk /data/app
-Or to push multiple apps. Create a folder called data. Within that folder, create a folder called app. Then place all your apks in the app folder. Now you can push the whole directory to /data/app
Code:
$ adb push /your_home_directory/data /data
-If anyone else who might want to jump ahead of me and find a fix, would very much appreciate it!

Looks good. I was trying to install nook app from market but it kept rebooting. Thanks for the hard work..
Looking forward to giving this a try...
Whats the size of the image, what is the min/max size sd card required?
@Samir- nothing new. Direct image of hybrid rc1 by madcat
@Flyboy- I really didn't get a chance to test. Thanks for the info. Ill take a look when I can.
@Joenathan- sorry forgot to post img size. Its a 1.8gb image. So any card 2gb or larger should be fine. Ill update OP with size later
The more feedback the better. Can't fix things without feedback.

Are there quite a bit of FCs with this version? I tried the emmc one and had to revert back to CM7 because it was too unstable.
Its a bit too big for my 2GB SD card, my sd card weighs in at 1,921,024KB whereas the image is 1,927,168KB
So 2GB SD cards are out....
Thanks Racks, just what I was looking for.
Well done.
crap! I has 2gb SD card too that I use for this.
Any chance of someone making an SD version of the xboxexpert's HC build?

Any reason for wanting that build? I ask, because it is out of date, and nothing more than some extra apps added by default. This version uses newer framework, and right now is advisable to use until a 3.1 build comes (especially with the SD card fix also made by Racks).
The ROM is nice, Honeycomb apps are much superior, but for me it runs too slow.
Using a class 4 generic SD. Anyone else having problems?

Not that the SDK is as fast as CM7, but i am willing to bet the problem is your SD card. Having used a crappy SD card myself, i know how bad they can be; invest in a cheap class 2 or 4 Sandisk card, and get blown away.
Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for as my next NC project

Divine,
For awhile I would see you posting around with random things in various sections and wasnt really sure if you were a troll or not, but lately youve pushed some truly amazing things like the work on dals kernel and now this update hc build and I truly am impressed with all your work. You have my complete respect. Thank you.

Ill certainly admit, i am not the most agreeable at time; commonly, i let my daily stresses flow out on to forums. I am easily annoyed at what i see as something stupid (which sadly, it feels like has been happening more in this forum).
As it is, I am happy i could have committed something useful to the community.
Apps
Great job! Love not having to flash between CM and HC to play with the 3.0 goodness. My only question, anytime I try to install an app it reboots.....Ideas?

You're the second person to say so. Is everyone having this issue? Is anyone having success installing any apps? From market or from a file explorer. I need more feedback so I can pinpoint the problem.
I'll have to take a look at this when I get a chance. Or if you don't mind posting a logcat? Just save a logcat to a .txt file and upload it here. I'll take a look to see where it's erroring out.
*I could be wrong, but most of the time when this happens, it seems to be a caching issue. But again, i won't know till i see the errors.
Thanks,
Racks
Here ya go

yeah, i saw the post that i works with magloader, this is why im asking. does it work the same way how it does with android?
it is because i cant backup WP7 yet and i will loss all my data if i flash it again.
but if it work i will try...
so i use the dualboot WP7 and Android Tutorial an replace the android files with the ubuntu ones right?
you can run the Ubuntu from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1025499 using WP7 on NAND and an SD Android. Check the thread for which SD Android to use, but worth trying the one you have first.
No USB host though unfortunately.
On the plus side, your (SD) phone is just a click away and will ring as normal.

You can backup SMS on NODO using
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16490860&postcount=29
And if Yuki &Co make an upgradeable WP7 ROM you might be able to keep them forever
Edit; BTW this thread should be in Q&A section

Sounds like this would be the only way to have WP7 an Ubuntu. so i have to dualboot android and then start the haret. Im not happy with this. It would be great if magldr 2.0 could start a haret.exe, or to have a ubuntu maglds rom..
i'll wait
We can install winmo 6.5 with new magldr. So we can use the haret.exe. (i think, we can install winmo6.5 to sd, or into nand)
With new magldr we can boot in 4 different os, with one phone. Its amazing
