Hey, I thought it would be good to have a thread with discussions on Timescape plugins (for those of us that may still be using Timescape). Kinda OT, but does anyone know what's involved to create a timescape extension for the gmail app? It would be great if it could use gmail instead of the crappy original app.
I noticed today that SE uploaded a couple new extensions for Timescape and an app to search for these extensions (more like a link to the marketplace but for Timescape and Mediascape): Linkedin and Foursquare.
Not to mention that there was a Spotify beta extension last November.
I've yet to try out the linkedin extention and don't use Foursquare. I wonder if these extensions are compatible between the old Timescape and the new timescape showing up on the Arc?
were can i find the "app to search for these extensions"

It's called "Extension Search". A marketplace search for that should turn it up. Or do a search for "timescape" and everything will show up.
I would also love to see a gmail plugin. Originally SE said that they would release the SDK for timescape plugins, but they never did.
The LinkendIn plugin works pretty wel and integrates nicely into the phonebook like the standard Facebook and Twitter feeds from Timescape. Unfortunatly, the plugin also shows all new connections ("mr A got connected to mr B"), so not all info is really interesting.
Foursquare plugin shows nothing. When I first installed, it downloaded all the checkins, and seemed to work alright. Thereafter... nothing, just a single timescape flipcard with the title foursquare -- but nothing else. Reinstalled, even wiped timescape clean, nothing.
Anyone else notice this?
Hey sorry for bumping an old thread but now that the sdk is out we can make plugings .....hope some development will try

Didn't know if this was the best place to put this or not, but I'm looking for an app that will allow me to enter my Facebook and Twitter status without having to open up a full program, just by typing it all in the today screen field. Think Skyfire's "Update My Status" function but on the today screen like how the optional search bar field works.
I have a 2nd today screen on my Rhodium that I use to manage a few apps that aren't TF3D friendly, and have room for a few short lines for me to type my status into Facebook and Twitter while on the go. I like how Skyfire has the options to globally change status on both FB and Twit at the same time, so if you know of something that will do that, please point me in the right direction! I've heard about the Twitter tab for TF3D, but would rather update status through FB instead of through Twit because of the 140 character limits.
All help on this subject, including how you currently update your status quickly without having to load Skyfire or enter in a mobile browswer or through texts, would be greatly appreciated!
here is a solution for twitter : http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/06/16/twittoday-15-post-twitter-tweets-from-windows-mobile-today-screen.html.. If u find a solution for Facebook ..let me know

that is PERFECT for Twitter, wow, exactly what I was looking for.... and like you said, now to find one that does Facebook as well! I've seen people link their FB and Twit status, is that something to look into and just use this for quick, 140 character updates?
EDIT - that only works for those who don't have "protected" Twitter accounts.... oh well!

BINGO! I knew if I kept searching I would eventually find it....

Just used TwitToday and updated my status on Facebook, even though my tweets are protected on Twitter! Nice.........
Okay, in case anyone is wondering why Facebook SUCKS at updating Twitter status....... get rid of it altogether and use Yakket:
http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=48449043052
Worked on the first try and my Twitter status is protected. Doesn't take 30mins to an hour to update like the stupid Twitter app on Facebook does, and even Tweeter didn't work for me. Was so tired of having to wait for status updates that are time-sensitive to post on FB using Twitter, and this works!!! Thought I'd pass on the good news!
CycHowdy Messenger
You can try the CycHowdy Messenger that I just posted...
great
Those are great tools but I would like to see an app that actually provide me some updates as well. Something like Android does with facebook.
Is there any application like this ?
I was wondering if samsung wiz would allow something like that...
I just purchased aTAKEphONE T9 dialer and I think it is so much better than the one from SE.
It has a T9 dialer, detailed call logs, etc. Love it.

Can't find it in the market with my SE X10 mini unbrandet.
I have used aContacts which is also very good. But I found a bug which fails to invoke the call log screen occassionally. Otherwise both these apps are good and way ahead of the default dialler+phonebook combined together.
ATakephone was also not found by me in the market (People says it depends on country you stay - infact none of the buyable apps are shown in my country in India).
Partha
Couldn't find it in the Market so downloaded it straight from the site, shsh dot com (not allowed to post URLs as a "newbie" - hack, I joined this site in 2005!)
I used TAKEphONE on my Treo's and loved it, but didn't really have a need for it on my G1. As the dialer of the Mini Pro is crap (am I missing something or are the Contacts really entirely separated from it?), I figured going back to my old friend Shimon and his app would be worth a try.
So far I am very impressed. The only two complaints are that the help pop ups are too long and can't be scrolled, and that the i-bar Favorites images are displayed on top of the Last Call bar. No showstoppers but I've informed the developer of these two.

Just found out about IIDA Home Launcher after looking through the screenshots thread. Made a CWM zip to try it out, it's attached.
Original Thread
The original download was the entire system/app dump of the Xperia(i think). I cut it down to only the IIDA apks, nothing get over written so you can delete the files after installing if you decide to ditch it.
My first impressions, it's really cool. It's like WP7 Metro but the app drawer is just a downward scroll instead of an icon.
But we'll have to work on it a bit to make it work on the Atrix. Also we'll have to figure out how to add locations to the lists, right now it seems to be only Japanese cities. And the email tab doesn't work. Also, we'll probably want to silence the beep on touch, but that's probably as easy as replacing a sound file with silence.
Here's a few screens:

I used this launcher for a couple days just before CM7 was updated. It was fun finding pictures and "flare" but it was also kind of buggy. At one point the calendar just disappeared and when I reflashed I forgot how frustrating moving all of my apps from the bottom to their respective sections was. Moments later CM7 came out and I left it in the dust. But I'm back on Darkside now since I need Webtop. I'll definitely give it another go.

This is awesome, i cant wait.
the weather app(the one with japanese cities only) is a different game, it pulls the information from a 2 different websites one for area and one for prefecture, we do not use prefectures in America so im kinda scratching my head to see how we are going to make this app work , the twitcheck app does not deodex properly according to another member who tried and i can't seem to find the facebook check or the music tile for the launcher, the Launcher itself is more than stable and it can be used on a daily basis.
check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313247&page=10 there is a conversation between me and another member who is working on the same launcher too.
Just installed XXLP2 ice cream goodness and I was trying out the live wallpapers.
My favourite was solar winds and I hadn't used it for a while so I set it as the wallpaper.
A pop up advert appeared and a search icon was put on my home screen, but more sinister than that, my default homepage in the browser is changed and I can't change it back. No root was required but this default page cannot be changed ! I'm raging with the developer now as AOI Studios were usually very good quality LW.

This is what I see when I go into browser settings. I have already uninstalled LW but it did not change this back to default.
I can set a homepage which is put into the "other" category but the default remains this.
Please can u help

well, but I think you tried everything there already ... hm, did you try to clear the browser cache and delete the settings?
I have tried clearing browser cache, setting homepage but it just goes into other and resetting to default from browser settings.

this is very stange. I searched on some developer boards and it seams like there is no direct way to set the start page from an app; some say it only works from within the browser via JavaScript.
oh well ...
K, thanks for the help
I have figured it to an extent. I can't customise the "default" homepage but I can get it back from what the rogue app changed it to.
I went into Settings/Apps/All/Internet
and cleared the data of the app. This successfully changed the default back to google but it also removes any added bookmarks. I haven't been able to use the new sync feature of the bookmarks yet.
Thanks for your replies
Hmm...you're not out of the woods yet.
Have you seen this yet? which leads to this...
you still have work to do.... Sorry to be the bad news bearer but until you get rid all that "add ons" they'll hi-jack your setting again.
Good luck
Firstly I have a HTC one S, stock, not rooted.
I have disabled everything twitter related, however, in better battery stats, the process "tpd" is still showing and using a fair bit of my battery, does anyone know what is going on and how to truly disable twitter?

I have snowstorm and sense weather syncing every few hours and gmail push as usual, I haven't got anything else syncing.
Disabled most of sense apps apart from gallery, dialer/people, messaging, weather and a few other things.
I don't know for sure but I would guess you haven't disabled Twitter completely. There's got to be some app that's still running in the background. You need to root your phone and start uninstalling things.
Thanks for the reply
Everything that I can see related to twitter is disabled.
- twitter
- twitter for HTC sense
- TwitterAPIEngine
Is there anything else I should be looking for?
I have also disabled all the sense friends stream stuff.
Really don't want to root my phone just yet.
Try downloading Watchdog Lite from the Play Store. This app shows you which apps are using the most CPU cycles (and therefore consuming the most power). This could maybe allow you to identify which app this "tpd" process is associated with. (Having said that, BetterBatteryStats does usually show the app name as well as the process name, as you can see in the other entries in your screenshot, so if BBS couldn't identify it, Watchdog might not either. But the Lite version is of course free, so you may as well try it)
Ok thanks for the suggestion, will give that a shot and see
Just got a reply from someone else there regarding this and this is what he said:
It looks like tdp is just a system process betterbatterystats hasn't recognised, like surfaceflinger but added by HTC or just a new ICS process. (the PID is 0?)
If you look under Settings>Power>Battery use>Android System>included packages it can be one of those.
All the twitter related stuff will start off as something like com.htc.engine.twitter or com.twitter.Android in betterbatterystats. TDP is also a 3rd party twitter app last updated in 2010, that's probably where the twitter link came from?

And I just checked there and this is what comes under "android system":
As well as system UI being listed there.
I will email the developer of better battery stats to see what the "tpd" process is.
