currently i have 2.1update 1
should i look into the 2.2 froyo i really want some new themes and i see most of the nice ones say 2.2...or will they still work fine with 2.1?
and is 2.1 eclair different from the 2.1 sony fw?
Themes designed to work with 2.2 won't work on 2.1.
And yes the Sony 2.1 firmwire has custom UI layer and apps (timescape, mediascape, face recognition etc) on it that affects performance but provide extra functionality out of the stock 2.1
useless thread.. if you want a 2.1 or 2.2 theme, go to dev section.. read the thread name : [2.1 THEME] or [2.2 THEME]

Hi, Im not that good with all this root, custom roms and stuff. I did root my device though. My xperia x10. I got 2.1 rooted.
I read about everything with custom roms everywhere and everytime i read about android.
What is custom roms? does it enable me with my xperia to download a custom rom or custom version so i can get 2.2 or 2.3 even if sony ericsson has chosen to not update?
Thanks
Oh, And i downloaded something from connect-utb site.
What is it? is it some kind of new android version? it stood that it can be used on Xperia so... it was something XDAndroid
cant link. But search google for connect-utb
Custom ROMs enable you to have 2.2, 2.3 and so on, BUT with some drawbacks. Since the highest the phone can go is 2.1, the ROMs will be based on 2.1 and some things might not work (e.g. Camera,Videorecorder).
Try looking at the x10 developement section. Ask what you want to do in the q and a section and we can help u. But all the info is rite here on this site. U just have to look.

Hello, i am new to the whole modding thing, and i just wanted to know if there are any 2.2 or 2.3 roms that keep the default apps like timescape and others. I really love Sony's interface, but i hate the fact that it's running android 2.1. It would be very appreciated if somebody could give me a good recommendation.
You can try Wolfbreak's CM6.1.3 ROM. Its fast and stable. It does not have timescape by default, but he has provided a flashable zip of it for those who wanted timescape.
You can find its details here:

Thank you I have looked around, and I think I'll stick with the default launcher until the Arc roms is finished.
Hi if any one can guide me how to create themes for 2.3.3 ROMs for X10 or iff you have any list of themes available please let me know.
Do a search... there's already a separate section for themes... just pic whatever you fancy using.
Yes but it says only for 1.6 and 2.1 versions.
2.3 Themes
Err... I don't know where you are looking at but these say they are for 2.3

thank you so much......
Ok, guys,
why x10's stock 2.3.3 themes don't work, i mean that no matter what theme from the stock theme manager is applied nothing changes. For example the stock themes for Arc (gingerbread) change the settings background, phonebook, messages, etc...
Is there anyway that we can change that and is it possible to port everything from Arc to work? I know that Gingerbread is old now and some of you may think that it doesn't worth it but i'd like to at least try to make 2.3.3 fully working.
Check here what i'm talking about (Arc):
