Wii controller working yet? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone tested a wii mote with the new official 2.2 update? I heard that samsung might fix the Bluetooth issues people are having with backwards compatibility with Bluetooth 1.x. if they did it could hopefully let us use a wii mote as a controller for playing emulators finally. I'm sick of being jealous of friends with the droid and iphone 3gs that are able to.

^^ Very interested in finding this out.

Thanks for trying for us all man. I would pay for a fix/app as well. Have been searching long and hard for anything short of trying a buggy/unfinished build of cyanogenmod. I think that's our best hope once it's got a stable build.

[Q] bluetooth remotes (wii and PS3)

I know the wii remote works, looking for something with more buttons for psx and n64 emulating. Used the search button for hours, and heard people getting it to work, but no cold hard evidence.
I am willing to shell out some cash on this one for once. Either that or i'll be investing in a PSP for portable emulation.
Pretty sure ps3 controller isn't possible yet. But if you're looking for more buttons, just use the classic wii controller. Or the pro version or whatever. Not the most portable option. But definitely gives you more buttons.

What rom(s) does the wiimote work with? Havent done much with gaming on the phone but I thought I read it didnt work.... (happy to know that isnt true)
It works on miui for sure. And quite possibly jts aosp

Definitely not true. The fascinate doesn't have any sense roms. What is required is HID support. Which for the fascinate, only miui and maybe aosp and cm7 alpha. I have only tested on miui. But I know no current SC or darkrevenge can use it.

Damn so my options are either have a phone with some sweet retro gaming, or have working mms and camcorder? Situations like these are why I keep telling my wife I need two phones...

Haha yeah man .. its a bummer.

Yeah there was a thread about this a while ago. Only aosp based roms have HID support. So basically we have to wait for source if u want to use one of those roms and have everything working.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
why cant such support be ported to a tw rom? cant things like this be just a issue of transferring drivers.. i know its prob more difficult than that, but i just want to understand it better.
HID bluetooth profile for fascinate???
So I just happened to have a similar issue. I really wouldn't have opened the wound but this was last hit on about 8 months ago. Now my fascinate has the gingerbread update... the 2.3.5 update if you will. As anticipation has failed us, they did , again, fail to include a bluetooth profile that supports HID devices.
I have read about CM's mod cm7.1 supporting this profile, but my situation is a little bit more unique.
I just purchased the Brookstone roll up keyboard (bluetooth) and can recognize it but obviously won't pair or connect. I have tried a number of apps that claim to give you smoother function and better bluetooth support, but as with any good app, Google has stripped it of it's gems.
as mentioned I have only read briefly that cm7.1 is a rom able to make this happen.
My question now is, after 8 months, has anyone found a solution to the HID bluetooth profile issue, and if it requires rooting, how do you do this ... using ubuntu...
... be gentle (I just watched the noob video)
Sch-1500 2.3.5 Stock I need this for portability

N64oid Discussion [NO WAREZ!]

So N64oid 2.0 (and subsequent editions) has come out and I'm wondering what everyone's experience has been playing it on their 3VOs.
So far I've only played Zelda and it's been pretty great over all. It crashes every few minutes so I have to back up often, and the sound gets a little glitchy so far. I've found that OC to 1.8 GHz and setting frame skip to about 7 or 8 seems optimal
Any other positive experiences with n64oid or other emulator apps?
Please don't post Warez here or the thread will get shut down.

Since the Evo 3D supports the bluetooth HID profile, then the Phonejoy will work - heres my demo with the HTC Sensation (forward to 3:30):

does anyone have the devs email? or where you can find it? i bought the original and when he pulled it he said that he could replace it with the updated one when it came out. thanks in advance!

Has anybody had any luck with wiimotes or ps3 controllers?
Wiimotes and PS3 controllers will not work, that hasn't (yet) changed.
I played The Ocarina of Time, overall is good. Sounds skips here and there but so far is solid. I've been playing Starfox 64 though, controls are a bit hard but just takes some time to get used to.
So with all the new ROMs popping up, is anyone aware of a Dev that is working on replacing the bluetooth stack to something that will support using the wiimote or is that even possible until we get CM or something similar?

Android on Xbox And Wii

So I wanted to see peoples reaction to porting android to a Xbox or wii ? I have been contemplating putting some time and money into porting a rom for the wii I think it would be really crazy! I managed to get the android live disc running on my modded Xbox but no controls yet. Would anyone be interested in a rom for the wii if I get it working? Let me now!

The Wii would be helped by the fact that it has a massive Linux porting community. Check out Whiite Linux. Sadly, they barely have X Window running on most implementations.
On that matter, most of the android functionality is already there, it's a matter of looking pretty. Short Of Angry Birds, they've beat you to it in a lot of ways. They've got apps and even an appstore called the Homebrew Browser. Everything is very slow, but what can you expect from it? Yes, most of the good stuff is running by putting Devkit Pro on top of a weak linux, so some improvement could be had. It's not android, but it does the same things.
So far as the 360 goes, if you could put an indie game out with an intentional bug that lets you run Androidx86 off a thumb drive, you could use the Kinect to emulate touch screen. USB keyboard is available to fill in the rest.

It'd be great, but considering that the Wii is running on 2001 State Of The Art, I doubt it will be able to handle much without the official devkit (Which is illegal unless you are a major label dev). Also, everything has to be put into a binary to load, so even Whiite is being done a convoluted way. I have a bit of knowledge of running homebrew on Wii, so I can get you any info or testing you need.
Start with Froyo. Honeycomb won't happen. Maybe Ice Cream Sandwich, but not Honeycomb, for this type of project, you'll NEED kernel source.
I'd be willing to test on Wii or 360. Sounds awesome.
Wow! Right up my street. My two favs mashed together. So INTERESTED! I'm new to the 'DEV', but addicted, and learning at lightspeed. Xboxs ready and waiting 2 serve! Xbox nandroid would revolutionize the world. It would be one of the most popular PCs ever, not to mention cheap.

Found A Way
Okay, so i was doing some searching and i found something called android-x86
(wwwDOTandroid-x86DOTorg) and they have full source code for a x86/PPC version of android, gingerbread currently. which is good because of the wii which has a PPC prossesor. If you do some editing im sure someone can make android for wii.
I'd be willing to test either system android TV would be cool if we could figure that out .. wii or 360 would be excellent to have android os on it I'm thinking wii would be easy for everyone to use since its so easy to mod and the hbc delivers downloads for everyone

I hate to be cynical here, but the Wii only has 88mb of ram. I dont know if thats enough to run Android. Not to mention that Android was written for the ARM platform and the Wii is PPC.

Requires certain Bluetooth protocol that HTC Sense based phones do not have. As soon as Cyanogen or another true AOSP ron comes out it should work.
Also. Might want to remain your thread with a question mark. I came into thinking maybe someone had solved it. Lol.

Still can't find any roms without sense for gsm EVO 3d, thinking might struggle due to only software/ROM that camera works with is sense. Got n64 emulator app working well but so needs sixaxis working.
Noob here. Just making sure that there still isn't a ROM that allows a bluetooth controller (Wii or PS3)?

I've never used it myself, but I believe CM roms have a great Bluetooth stack and should be compatible. Maybe someone else that has more experience with CM roms can chime in.
Yes, cm roms will be able to use it. However cm roms are still being developed and are not currently capable of Bluetooth.
EVO 3D ROMS and SixAxis
All of the EVO 3D ROMS I have seen are just modified versions of stock so they have the Sense bluetooth stack limitations. Synergy, Steel, Cleanrom, ect. None of the ROMS built from the AOSP are complete yet [like Cyanogen] but once one of those is done, we should be able to pair our PS3 controllers to our phones and play our games.
Other than battery life, getting the SIXAXIS app working is what made me stay on CM7. Btw, I'm on the og Evo and I'm not here to troll. I take it that you'll be using FPSE vs. PSX4Droid as your playstation emulator? PM me if any of you guys want the apk. I also have the BIOS.BIN file, but this emulator doesn't really need it. It's way better IMO. My phone may be considered old, but being able to play using the controller still turns heads.
Funny. I got my X10i working on the sixasis. The Evo 3D have more advance bluetooth which is 3.0. I got try to get it work on the Evo 3D.

SENSE 1.x, 2.x and 3.x currently doesn't support the HID profile that certain devices require. I heard someone is trying to get this to work. If that's the case, I will switch back to a Sense ROM.
so by the way, which aosp rom currently works with the sixaxis controller app...if any.. because i do see all aosp roms having bluetooth boorked ...isnt that what is needed for the app to work?

There is currently no Roms that have the correct working bluetooth, however I would keep an eye on Miui since they have a few things not working now with their Alpha 3 update. Maybe even CM might drop some BT goodness soon .
Cyanogenmod 7 vAlpha 3 currently has working BlueTooth so pull out your Sixaxis or WiiMote and get your mobile gaming on.

wiimote support [request]

I know sense and touchwiz (htc/samsung) phones dont support the proper bluetooth profiles for controllers like ps3 or the wiimote, but i believe we should band together and do a bounty for someone to develop such a method (kernel?) that allows for them to connect.
currently im on cognition beta 4 for galaxys2 att, so if i can stay on cognition and be able to connect to ps3 or wiimote id be forever happy!

Sure does. Personally used and loved it. (Before I bought a dual shock 3)
It works because CM7 , being an AOSP ROM, actually uses a standard BT stack. (Come on Samsung!)
With that said, I'd be in extreme favor of any Dev who could mod Samsungs BT stack to work with the Wiimote.

Ohhh yeah it does, I remember reading that. The only problem is you cant use MHL Tv out which is pretty much the whole reason I would want Wiimote support, haha. I did hear though that ICS's Bluetooth stack is modified to work with the Wiimotes, so once that rolls out, we could have both. but. only time can tell :\

Doesn't work over here for me..
I just ran across a thread in the i9100 forums that said it now works on stock CM9 but I can't get it to go.
Even if I manually enter the address of my Wiimote in Wiimote Controller, instead of the BT PIN code screen popping right up, now I get a notification in the notification bar that I have a pairing request. Clicking the notification just brings up the PIN code entry screen.
I guess both the Wiimote and MHL are working for the i9100 with CM9 and the Samsung stock ICS but doesn't work for me on the i777.. I haven't tried the latest ATT ICS leak but I may give in and try it tonight after work..
i777 CM9-based kernels cannot pair with a Wiimote yet due to unavailable kernel sources. Also, the leaked official ICS firmware can.

I can't remember which leak I was using... I thought it was LD3. It was right before it was announced that they were responsible for hard bricking, I think. I know it was before Task removed them from the post he put them in.
